Samsung has once again returned to the fashion fold at KLFW22 by flipping the script on design trends, this time in collaboration with homegrown modest fashion powerhouse Mimpikita. Featuring 10 ready-to-wear ensembles inspired by the latest entries to the Samsung Galaxy Z Series, this collection was showcased alongside flagship devices Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 during the KLFW 2022, at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur on 21 August 2022.

“The newest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 and Z Fold4 are built to challenge the status quo and empower one’s self-expression whilst combining modern functionality, and we can see these translated into Mimpikita’s 10 gorgeous ready-to-wear ensembles,” said Elaine Soh, Chief Marketing Officer of Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

The groundbreaking Galaxy Z series; recently announced with much fanfare at the annual Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event, continues to break from convention by seamlessly marrying fashion and function to deliver new, impactful interactions that enhance everyday life. Now in its fourth generation, the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4 feature customizable form factors, tailored experiences and upgraded performance. They were unveiled alongside the Galaxy Watch5, Galaxy Watch5 Pro and the new Galaxy Buds2 Pro.

“When I first saw the Galaxy Z Flip4 and Galaxy Z Fold4, my first thought was literally ‘Wow’. We’re already familiar with the capabilities of these devices by reputation – but this time around, these devices are just effortlessly chic and endlessly fashionable,” enthused Nurul Zulkifli, Mimpikita Co-Founder and Managing Director. “We truly do consider this collection as co-created in collaboration with Samsung. There were simply so many jumping off points to start from; for example, the bold, sophisticated colours presented on these phones are mirrored in the almost otherworldly colours and motifs featured in each of our 10 ensembles.”

“We were also equally inspired and challenged by the level of attention to detail that went into the designs for the Galaxy Z series,” said fellow co-founder Amirah Zulkifli, in agreeing with Nurul. “Every layer, pleat and cut incorporated into the tops and skirts was meticulously planned to lend a weightless ethereality to each look; this is fashion meant to immerse our customers in the cosmic experience of exploring a galaxy out there in the multiverse.”

The Galaxy Z Flip4 builds on the success of Samsung’s iconic form factor, adding key features, including an upgraded camera experience, a larger battery and expanded customization, while maintaining its ultra-compact design. The Galaxy Z Fold4 opens up new possibilities for users by delivering Samsung’s most comprehensive smartphone experience to-date, offering shape-shifting design, immersive displays and PC-like multitasking features, in addition to advanced camera technology and powerful mobile processors.

Samsung Malaysia Electronics and KLFW takes center stage at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur

Embodying the pinnacle of function and fashion, the bold new entries to the Samsung Galaxy Z Series have been turning heads at global fashion events worldwide, beginning from New York, to London, Milan, Paris, and now, at Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW). Samsung’s aim was to shatter expectations this year by showcasing the flagship devices at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur alongside 16 curated looks inspired by its iconic Galaxy Z Series, designed by renowned industry veterans Kit Woo and Rizman Ruzaini, which were paraded down the runway on 5 and 7 November, respectively.

“Our devices play a vital role in bridging the path towards recovery in today’s fast-paced world, for example, enabling human collaboration during a global pandemic. “The sleek look and bold colours of the Galaxy Z Flip3 5G, Galaxy Z Fold3 5G, Galaxy Watch4, and Galaxy Buds2 were the main source of inspiration for this collection. While my comfort zone was in all-black, the loud colours of the foldables challenged me to innovate and create the unimaginable out of the ordinary,” said Kit Woo of ‘NOT JUST A LABEL’. “I was excited to experiment with new materials, cuts, and concepts for this collection. Not only that; I also began looking for new ways to express my DNA through creativity, which these devices played a pivotal part in cementing. I believe technology is the key to greatly moving the fashion industry forward.”

“If I were to pick three words to describe the foldables design, it would be bold, versatile, and stylish. “Our first encounter with the Galaxy Z Series was love at first sight if not a bit overwhelming because of how unique they looked,” said designers Rizman Ruzaini. “The aesthetics brought back the nostalgia of our earlier days where clamshell phones were the trend, yet Samsung has taken this novel form factor to a whole new level with the device’s stylistic finish.”
