In the era of social media, in which sharing photos and videos has nearly replaced texting and talking, the smartphone camera has emerged as one of the most important features for smartphone users.1

For the Galaxy S10 line, Samsung brought new, advanced hardware and software-based technologies to the camera, including cutting-edge, AI-powered features. In order to learn more about the phones’ pro-grade camera system – which features an Ultra Wide lens, Super Steady video recording, and a built-in Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – Samsung Newsroom sat down with Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division’s camera developers and product planner.

(From left) Seoyoung Lee, Sunyong Kim, Sugon Baek and Wonseok Song of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile Communications Division, who planned and developed the Galaxy S10 line’s camera technologies.

The Power of the Ultra Wide Lens

The secret to taking incredible photos with the Galaxy S10 line is the Ultra Wide lens. The addition of the Ultra Wide lens was a major moment for Samsung, and represents one of the biggest changes to the Galaxy series in generations. Now, users can capture every detail of an epic landscape, or fit the entire family into one group shot without having to move back.

“Users expect more than just improved image quality with a new device. They want a camera that makes it easier to take amazing photos,” explained product planner Sunyong Kim. “The Ultra Wide lens features a 123-degree field of view, just like the human eye, so you can easily capture the moment just as you see it.”

Image captured using the Ultra Wide lens on the Galaxy S10+. This feature is also available on the Galaxy S10 and S10e.

With the Ultra Wide lens, users can easily take dynamic pictures using the camera’s Live Focus function and Panorama mode. “Live Focus has been available on previous Samsung devices with the Telephoto and Wide-angle lenses, but for the Galaxy S10 line, we brought it to the Ultra Wide lens as well,” noted Sugon Baek. “What’s more, Panorama mode offers more vertical scope than previous models did, and greatly reduces the need to move the camera from left to right in order to capture the full shot.”

A panorama shot on the Galaxy S10+. This feature is also available on the Galaxy S10 and S10e.

Shake-Free Video Quality

Another new innovation that’s built into the Galaxy S10 line is the camera’s Super Steady video-recording feature, which offers users enhanced video stabilization.2

Super Steady works by using VDIS (Video Digital Image Stabilization) technology. It predicts user movements before filming starts, and once the camera is running, it calculates the adjustment range to minimize shakiness in videos.

“In the past, achieving optimum video stabilization meant sacrifices for the camera’s angle of view,” noted Wonseok Song. “A conventional wide-angle camera couldn’t solve the problem. But thanks to the Ultra Wide lens, the S10 is able to support a natural viewing angle while also offering stability and quality.”

Given that the adjustment capability of the Super Steady technology is best for capturing bigger movements, Song has a tip for users filming in different conditions: “For scenes that feature less action in low light, use the camera’s normal mode. For brighter scenes that feature more movement, Super Steady is best.”

Video footage3 shot on the Galaxy S9 (left) and Galaxy S10+ (right). This feature is only supported when filming with the Full HD Ultra Wide lens.

A Camera That’s Smart

The Galaxy S10 doesn’t just have the most advanced camera system on a Galaxy phone, it also has the smartest. In a first for Galaxy smartphones, the Galaxy S10 includes a next-generation NPU that automatically optimizes pictures in up to 30 different categories.

“We added 10 additional categories to optimize common photos, including ‘Dog,’ ‘Drink,’ and ‘Shoe,’” explained Seoyoung Lee. ‘Dog’ mode, she added, optimizes users’ pictures by focusing on fine details, such as strands of fur, whereas categories like ‘Shoe’ and ‘Clothing’ focus on objects’ colors, since most pictures of these objects are taken without people’s faces in the frame. “We also added ‘Drink’ category because we noticed the growing trend of people sharing pictures of their cocktails on social media.”

The Galaxy S10 line’s camera also provides suggestions of ways to potentially improve photos through its Shot Suggestion function. Based on the Galaxy S10 line’s machine learning capabilities, Shot Suggestion references a database of over 100 million users’ pictures to offer helpful tips on improving overall composition, positioning and proportions for photos of various subjects, including people, animals and vehicles. “The AI-based suggestions have been developed not just to prioritize putting the subject at the center of a photo,” said Lee. “That way, no matter how you want to set up your shot, the Galaxy S10 will help you do it in the most striking way possible.”

Seeing the Whole Picture

In developing the Galaxy S10 line’s camera, the team focused on engineering technologies that add real value to the camera experience, rather than simply increasing the number of lenses and features available.

“The camera is for more than documenting and recording,” explained Kim. “It is now the means through which we communicate.”

From the Ultra Wide lens, to Super Steady, to the NPU – and to other features, like Instagram mode, new filters, enhanced Bixby Vision, and easy shifting between lenses – the Galaxy S10 helps users do more with their camera than they ever could before. For all of those users who say a great camera is the top feature they’re looking for in a smartphone, Samsung has planted the flag.

1 According to Samsung Electronics’ research

2 Video stabilization on the Galaxy S10 line is up to three times better than conventional technologies.

Smartphone users count on Galaxy devices to deliver a camera experience that’s second to none. That’s because Samsung Electronics packs each new addition to the Galaxy family with innovations that make it easier for users to capture more moments in exceptional detail.

The Galaxy S10 line builds on Samsung’s camera leadership – which includes the company’s game-changing Super Speed Dual Pixel and Dual Aperture technologies – by introducing a slew of exciting enhancements and even more advanced intelligence. Together, these innovations offer users all the tools they need to take truly epic shots and videos.

Each Samsung Galaxy S10 is like a professional-grade camera that fits in your pocket. The devices’ easy-to-use cameras were designed to allow you to capture any shot and angle. So no matter what you’re shooting, you’ll always have the right lens for the job.

At 123-degrees, the rear camera’s new 16MP Ultra Wide lens features a field of view that’s similar to the human eye. It covers approximately 4.3 times more area1 than a 77-degree Wide-angle lens, and allows you to capture the world as you see it. Perfect for taking epic landscape shots, big panoramas (both horizontally and vertically), or simply fitting the entire family into a photo, the Ultra Wide lens ensures that you’re always able to capture the full scene.

It combines an f/1.5-aperture lens with an f/2.4, and automatically adjusts to light just like our eyes to help users snap professional-looking photos, day or night. The Galaxy S10 and S10+’s triple rear camera setup also includes a 12MP Telephoto (zoom) lens. For those times when you need to get a little closer to your subject, the Telephoto lens provides two times optical zoom and ten times digital zoom.

Each Galaxy S10 comes equipped with a 10MP UHD Dual Pixel front-facing camera that’s perfect for taking high-quality selfies. The Galaxy S10+’s dual front camera setup offers improved megapixels and super-fast autofocus,2and includes an RGB depth lens for enhanced quality of bokeh effects.

A Smarter Way to Shoot

The Galaxy S10’s hardware is complemented by a next-generation Neural Processing Unit (NPU) – a layer of intelligence for all your photos – that streamlines image processing and makes already smart features better.

The addition of the advanced NPU makes the camera’s Scene Optimizer function that much more powerful. Now, Scene Optimizer is capable of analyzing even more complex scenes, and can simultaneously process more image recognition data than before. The camera recognizes up to 30 different types of scenes in all (up from 20 with the Galaxy Note9), including “Face,” “Baby,” “Dog,” “Vehicles,” and more. The function will also automatically optimize the color, saturation, white balance and contrast in order to ensure that the image you see on your screen appears as true to life as possible.

When the camera recognizes specific scenes, it will also suggest other ways to potentially improve your photo. For example, if you’re taking a picture of a sunrise, the camera will automatically ask you if you’d like to switch to the Ultra Wide lens to ensure that you capture the scene in all its glory. If you’re taking a picture in extreme low-light conditions, it will propose that you take a Bright Night Shot for a professional-quality picture.

The camera also offers users instant, automatic recommendations on how to best frame their photo through its Shot Suggestion feature. Utilizing a database of over 100 million pictures, Shot Suggestion’s composition guide offers helpful tips to help you improve your photo’s proportions, positioning and overall composition.

The camera’s upgraded Live Focus mode allows you to customize your photos with artistic effects. The Galaxy S10+ utilizes its dual front cameras to support the feature, which includes options to add new spin bokeh, zoom bokeh, and color point effects, while the Galaxy S10 and S10e’s front-facing camera utilizes the NPU’s intelligence.

Silky Smooth Videos

Recorded videos are so much smoother with the Galaxy S10, thanks to groundbreaking innovations that ensure that users’ footage looks fantastic.

The camera’s Super Steady video-recording feature is the first of its kind on a smartphone, and offers users up to three times better video stabilization than conventional technologies. Powered by anti-shake stabilization technology (VDIS), Super Steady evens out shaky footage, allowing you to record fluid video during even your most active moments. So whether you’re dancing at a concert or recording a bumpy bike ride, with the Galaxy S10, the content you capture will be nice and steady.

Both the front and rear cameras are capable of recording pro-grade UHD footage, which allows users to step up their social game with true-to-life video quality. And in another smartphone first, the rear camera offers users the ability to take their recordings to the next level by capturing them in stunning HDR10+.

Utilizing dynamic tone mapping technology that provides 2.1 times broader color range than SDR, the Galaxy S10 allows you to take videos that are brighter and more dynamic than those taken with other smartphone cameras. That’s because the camera uses tone mapping techniques to go frame-by-frame and optimize the color for every scene.

A New AR Emoji Experience

Samsung’s latest flagships offer users a brand new AR Emoji experience, highlighted by a revamped design, greater customization options, and the ability to track not just your face but also your eyes, tongue and body movements, including your arms and legs.

AR Emoji’s new Mask Mode offers a fun way to touch up a less-than-stellar photo. Not satisfied with the expression you made in your last shot? Simply choose an AR Emoji that nails the emotion you want to express, and place its face over yours.

Users can also customize their AR Emojis like never before. In addition to choosing from the dozens of expressive stickers that are created for each AR Emoji, you can create your very own stickers, featuring unique backgrounds, expressions and other personal touches. Users who download AR World from the Galaxy Store app will also be able to access tons of new hairstyles, outfits and accessories that’ll make their AR Emoji even more unique.

Samsung’s Most Epic Cameras Yet

In addition to placing more fun and convenient features at users’ fingertips, the Galaxy S10 line’s powerful cameras allow you to capture moments in more detail – and with more lenses – than ever before.

The Galaxy S10 5G truly packs the power of a professional-grade camera into your phone by offering a total of six lenses – two on the front and four on the back. In addition to featuring all of the lenses included in the Galaxy S10+ camera, the 5G model introduces Samsung’s next-generation 3D Depth Camera.

This innovative camera allows the device to accurately capture depth by measuring the length of time it takes for an infrared light signal to bounce off the photograph’s subject. The camera uses the resulting depth information to improve the quality of portrait-style images, and to power exciting new features like Video Live focus and Quick Measure. The former allows you to apply cinema-quality bokeh effects to recorded videos, while the latter enables you to use your phone to instantly measure distance, area or volume.

1 At a distance of approximately one meter.

2 Super-fast autofocus is included in the front cameras of the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G, as well as in the rear cameras of the Galaxy S10, S10+ and S10 5G.

As the company that brought to the world the Infinity Display, S Pen technology and best-in-class smartphone cameras, Samsung has set a high bar for excellence

As the company that brought to the world the Infinity Display, S Pen technology and best-in-class smartphone cameras, Samsung has set a high bar for excellence on its flagship Galaxy S and Galaxy Note devices. Now Samsung is bringing the innovative spirit to its other product lines, starting with the launch of the Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9.

Featuring an all-new camera setup and a revamped design, the devices are a fresh angle on Samsung’s high-end phones. Samsung Newsroom spoke with members of the Global Product Planning Group–product planners Minseung Baik, Kwangsub Bong, and Sunmoek Jung –who discussed how they injected a new DNA into the Galaxy A product line.

(From left) Minseung Baik, Kwangsub Bong, and Sunmoek Jung of the Global Product Planning Group

“Until now, the Galaxy A series felt like it was borrowing a lot of defining features from the flagship series,” explained Baik. “But now, the Galaxy A series has its own unique attributes. The new features include triple cameras for the Galaxy A7 and quad rear cameras on the Galaxy A9. These features are the signal flare of our new approach with the product line.”

His favorite of the new features is the Ultra Wide camera, citing its versatility. “When traveling you’ll often find yourself in situations where you can’t capture the whole scene on your phone – like a very long bridge or a large group of friends to capture in a single picture,” he said. “In these cases, you can choose the Ultra Wide camera and photograph the whole landscape. The lens will catch almost everything you can see, notably different from that taken with a normal smartphone camera with a 77° view.” Bong adds that it was about more than just making new lenses.

“We focused on creating new user experiences with the new multiple cameras,” said Bong. “People will be pleased to find, for example, more intuitive and smoother transitions when switching between camera functions. Other features include the ability to add a watermark to a photo, so users can add their own personal touch to their images.1” It all adds up to a phone that, Jung says, better suits the younger generation than previous flagship devices.

“The motivations for the new product came from the behavior of millennials who like to use social networking services, vlogs and other multimedia systems for communication,” Jung continued. With usage patterns showing that smartphone cameras were mostly being used by millennials for taking selfies, traveling and nightlife, the team designed multiple cameras for both the Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9 to provide users with more options when they are taking snapshots – which, in other words, gives the younger generation an even wider variety of ways to express themselves through different types of photos. The new multiple cameras are all part of a new philosophy that seeks to bring truly unique features to the devices.

“The triple and quad cameras in the new Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9 show our determination to implant innovative DNA in the Galaxy A series and deviate from the shadow of the flagship series,” explained Baik. “We didn’t want to sit around and wait for the smartphone market to evolve. We wanted to innovate with the Galaxy A series and I believe we have accomplished that. As we develop the product line, we will continue to differentiate it from the flagship series by creating its own core strengths and unique features.”

Common to both camera setups on the Galaxy A7 and Galaxy A9 are a Depth camera and an Ultra Wide camera alongside the main camera. The Depth camera measures the depth of the image taken, allowing users to add a bokeh effect around their subject with Live Focus, while the Ultra Wide camera provides a 120° field of view, so users can capture the entire scene. The Galaxy A9 includes an added 10MP Telephoto lens with 2x Optical Zoom so that users can get up-close and personal with their subject, even when they are far away. Engineering all of those features to fit into one phone meant taking a whole new approach to the design.

“We had to use the space more efficiently if we wanted to mount more cameras,” explained Bong. “Taking into consideration the battery and other numerous key components, we decided to move the cameras on the side of the device in a single vertical row, a rather bold approach since cameras have been in the center on our flagship smartphones.”

He added, “We knew that design is one of the core elements that young millennials focus on when buying their phones,” pointing to the new gradient-style coloring of the devices. “So we wanted to showcase a new design in order to target young millennials better.”

The new Galaxy A9 devices come in a range of colors, including two unique gradient options in Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink. The gradient design was a feat of engineering in its own right, requiring trial and error to get the right look.

“We selected 3D glass material to emphasize the gradation effect and used glossy metal on the borders of the device to give it a nice shine,” said Bong. “For the Bubblegum Pink version, even the metal borders have the color gradation, making it look much prettier and polished.”

The result of these efforts is a smartphone designed for millennials who want a stylish and convenient mobile experience that brings the best of the Galaxy design heritage to suit their modern, busy lifestyles. With this new approach in mind, the Galaxy A series will continue to evolve to meet the needs of millennials and like-minded individuals in the future.

“The Galaxy A series is Samsung Electronics’ new flagship device that proves our innovation in mobile technology and the deep understanding of our customers and the market,” said Jung. “Thanks to the unique style and features, the Galaxy A7 and A9 have drawn immediate attention from a wider range of consumers and the industry. Samsung will continue to explore the evolving and increasing needs of our consumers to provide the next Galaxy A series with improved features and new experiences.”

1Watermarks are currently only supported on the Galaxy A9, with availability pending updates for the Galaxy A7 shortly.

Kuala Lumpur, 15 March 2018 – The much anticipated Galaxy S9 and S9+ are finally here! With the arrival of its latest flagships, Samsung continues to innovate and redefine the limitations of technology, giving Malaysians new ways to experience the world. The flagships are well-recognised globally, having received over 30 awards at the recent Mobile World Congress 2018 including “Best New Connected Device” and “Best Mobile VR or AR”.

“The S9 and S9+ were inspired by today’s way of communicating on the social media landscape. Self-expression has evolved, and gone are the days where consumers texted each other to convey their thoughts. Instead, they now use images, videos and emojis. Samsung has always been at the forefront in producing amazing smartphone cameras, but as a tech company known to push past boundaries and also with a deep commitment to listen to our consumers, we took our latest smartphones to another level by redesigning and upgrading the camera,” said KM Liew, Head of IT and Mobile Business, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

“The Galaxy S9 and S9+ now come with new AR Emoji, Super Slow-mo and Super Low-light features. These enable consumers to discover and re-imagine a whole new level of visual communication, tailored to their own unique voices. To those who believe that a picture paints a thousand words, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ is the way to go,” Mr Liew added.

While it was the S9 and S9+’s new and innovative features that drew the attention of tech lovers and enthusiasts, it was the special appearance of Korean actor and superstar, Park BoGum, that sent the crowd into a frenzy. Through the Galaxy S9 and S9+’s great new features such as Super Slow-mo video recording, the ‘Love in the Moonlight’ prince was on a mission to experience the world in a whole new way with his Malaysian fans.

Camera Reimagined

Today’s cameras are for more than taking pictures – they are for connecting and communicating. Consumers want a smartphone camera with state-of-the-art technology, so they can express themselves with high-quality images and tools to tell their own unique story. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ cameras are built with these consumers in mind, with a Super Speed Dual Pixel sensor with dedicated processing power and memory to take amazing superior quality shots. DxOMark, the trusted industry standard for camera and lens image quality measurements, recognises this and given Samsung’s reimagined camera its highest-ever score for combined photo and video rating in a smartphone camera.

Much credit for the S9 and S9+’s high scores should be attributed to their amazing performance under low-light conditions. Similar to the way the iris of a human eye expands and contracts depending on a person’s surroundings, Samsung’s Dual Aperture camera (F1.5 / F2.4) automatically adjusts to its lighting conditions by letting in more light when it is dark through its greater aperture lens (F1.5) or switching to its lower aperture lens (F2.4) under bright light, ensuring that photos taken are crisp and clear. Apart from that, the popular dual-camera setup is available via the Galaxy S9+ as well, allowing users to continue shooting professional portrait shots with the phone’s ‘Live Focus’ mode.

Users are also now able to express themselves in brand-new ways, thanks to the S9 and S9+’s AR Emoji and Super Slow-mo features. While Samsung allows users to create an emoji that looks and acts almost exactly like them, the Super Slow-mo function (video recording of up to 960 frames per second) allows users to expand their creativity with utmost fun. Furthermore, S9 and S9+ users can now experience the world in a whole new way thanks to a smarter Bixby, integrated into the camera. Bixby is now able to translate foreign languages[1] and currencies instantly by image, provide useful information about your surroundings, and so much more.

Enhanced Entertainment

Smartphones are increasingly becoming our go-to choice for entertainment, which is why Samsung created a device that offers premium sound experiences with stereo speakers tuned by AKG. The Galaxy S9 and S9+’s audio also support Dolby Atmos, giving the effect of a 360-degree, impressive cinematic sound.

The Infinity Display on the Galaxy S9 and S9+ were given an upgrade as well. Featuring a new, bold, and bright Super AMOLED Infinity Display that looks gorgeous even under direct sunlight, it has received an “Excellent A+” grade by DisplayMate Technologies, the world’s leading evaluator of screens.

A Device that Fits with the Connected Lifestyle

As the first smartphone to support the new SmartThings app, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are the central hub to manage every facet of the connected lifestyle at home, at the office, or on the go. The next-generation Samsung DeX empowers a mobile lifestyle by bringing a large, full-screen experience to the mobile handset. The redesigned DeX Pad is a new docking system for users to easily connect the Galaxy S9 and S9+ to a larger monitor, keyboard and mouse to expand the mobile experience with enhanced document editing or even full-screen gaming.[2] Users can also transform the Galaxy S9 and S9+ into a Touch Pad with the DeX Pad.[3]

The Best Comes Standard with the Galaxy Foundation

Samsung sets the gold standard for smartphones with IP68[4] water and dust resistance and wireless charging that goes a step beyond with the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The devices now support expandable memory of up to 400GB via a Micro SD Card and are equipped with the latest premium application processors, offering powerful performance and sophisticated image processing.

In addition, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ give users the peace of mind knowing that their phone is protected by Knox 3.1, Samsung’s latest defense-grade security platform. The Galaxy S9 and S9+’s Intelligent Scan feature supports three different biometric authentication options – iris, fingerprint, and facial recognition – so users can choose the way they want to protect their device and applications.

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ take health to the next level with an improved optical sensor built directly into the device, providing richer and more accurate information on users’ health status. This sensor allows the devices to keep track of users’ Heart Load Factor, a new measurement of the real-time demand placed on the heart[5].

The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be available starting 16th March 2018 in Malaysia. Offered at a recommended retail price from RM3,299 to RM4,399, it will be available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Lilac Purple.

When we think of superheroes, we are immediately drawn to the notion of comic book characters with abilities and the moral ideals that they embody.

When we think of superheroes, we are immediately drawn to the notion of comic book characters with abilities and the moral ideals that they embody. Supergirl was an alien woman who was unlikely to make a significant mark in her workplace or on her new planet. Although few were able to predict the magnitude of her existence, she broke through all expectations, advocating the emblem of hope and going on to becoming one of Earth’s greatest heroes. Wonder Woman was the unlikely heroine responsible for putting an end to World War I, perpetuating the idea of a strong woman being able to do everything a man can, and so much more.

Characters such as these have served as icons for strong and driven women; but beyond comic books and TVs, there is no shortage of real life superwomen that are closer to home. Inspirational females at the top of their field are all around us – and there is plenty they can teach us.

We spoke to three inspirational female entrepreneurs in Malaysia about their journey on taking the reins and turning their dreams into reality. Embarking on the Superwomen of Malaysia campaign presented by the Samsung Galaxy Note8, they are excited to share their stories and adventures, in hopes of inspiring like-minded females to start doing bigger and better things.

Whether they have spent years creating change in the education system or building a fashion brand from a humble idea, these superwomen learnt the ropes of their chosen profession, raised families, and mastered the art of balance. We asked the three superwomen on what it means to be an entrepreneur in this competitive environment and having the Samsung Galaxy Note8 as their trusted companion.

Nurul Zulkifli

Founder and Designer of fashion label MimpiKita

Stiff competition is among the challenges Nurul Zulkifli faced in the fashion industry, and yet she continued to set her sights on undertaking bigger challenges. Today, she has developed her own fashion label, MimpiKita, and built a brand identity for herself. Her hard work and perseverance paid off when she debuted at London Fashion Week in 2015, a show every designer dreams of showcasing their creative and innovative designs for the world to see.

Live Focus

As the fashion industry today is strongly influenced by social media, Nurul also believes that having an visually exciting social media timeline is a contributing factor to drive new customers and visitors to her social media pages and subsequently her boutique. With the Galaxy Note8’s dual camera, together with its Live Focus and Pro Mode features, Nurul is able to capture both wide-angle and close up photos of her unique creations and instantly edit the background to make it look professional. This creates social-worthy and high quality images for her to share, while keeping her designs unique and original from the rest.

“It is a challenge to make a mark in the fashion industry especially with many budding and experienced competitors, but I have persisted with the right tools. Thanks to the Galaxy Note8’s dual camera and S Pen by my side, I am at the top of my game. I strongly believe that true representation of the designs is important and the dual camera helps deliver that. The S Pen on the other hand allows me to explore my creativity and imagination anytime of the day. My inspirations come from the streets, social media, people I meet, through discussions with my team and sisters, and most of all, from travelling.
Technology, especially smartphones, provides unprecedented convenience and flexibility in Nurul’s line of work as it allows her to multitask as a designer and entrepreneur. For her, the Galaxy Note8 is the ultimate productivity tool that allows her to do bigger things – from researching, sketching with the S Pen, and multitasking using App Pair and Multi Window, to taking stunning portraits of her creations and communicating with her team, suppliers and clients while being away from the office.

Cheryl Ann Fernando is on a mission to train school leaders to improve the learning of students in underserved communities around the world. She wants to help carve a mind-set in students everywhere that anything is possible if you put in the passion and determination. One great example is when she formed a team of students who barely spoke English into a choral speaking squad that went on to become top qualifiers at a district-level choral speaking competition.

As an educator and motivational speaker, Cheryl requires a great deal of preparation and organisation. As she is always on the move, the Galaxy Note8 is her ultimate side-kick, helping her prepare presentations and speeches on the go. It comes in handy when she needs to search for information or note down ideas on the spot, and the multi window function serves as a great feature for her to multitask.

“Education today has evolved tremendously and thanks to modern technology, it has introduced new and innovative teaching methods that have reshaped education for students and teachers. I believe the role of a teacher today is more of a facilitator; we do more than just provide knowledge. Technology has been instrumental in assisting teachers to be more productive, while guiding students to seek information in more interactive ways“, said Cheryl Ann Fernando.

The S Pen’s ability to instantly translate even the most complex of words is also undeniably a great help for Cheryl, eliminating the language barrier in education. Today, through the advancement in technology, Cheryl communicates easily with students from multiracial backgrounds. With the ultimate productive tool by her side, gone were the days of lugging around a laptop as she can easily finish a great deal of work using only the Galaxy Note8.

It all started with an idea to make fashionable yet affordable fitness wear for everyone, as Hui Matthews believes in the importance of keeping a healthy lifestyle while juggling family and career commitments. She was inspired to start her own sports clothing line from her first road race, the inaugural Malaysian Women Marathon, back in 2013.

Career and family life are two very different elements that require a great amount of dedication – needless to say, it can be a handful. As a career woman, wife and mother, multitasking is an everyday demand but Hui takes the proverbial bull by the horns with the help of the Galaxy Note8 and has never looked back. The Galaxy Note8 is the intermediary between work and play, allowing her to efficiently respond to work needs or note-taking on the spur with Screen Off Memo, even when she is travelling.

The Galaxy Note8 has the capacity to power through the day, enabling her to work for longer hours, while running multiple applications at the same time.

“Hard work and sacrificial love are quintessential to any sort of success, followed by sheer discipline and determination which are essential ingredients for doing bigger things. I make it a point to share and celebrate both the positive and negative experiences. In today’s world, which is so heavily influenced by picture-perfect social media, I feel responsible to share my happenings of being a mother, runner and entrepreneur in a constructive and honest way. I get to achieve this with ease, thanks to the Galaxy Note8, the quality of the impressive dual camera and fast digital uploads with its superior connection speed”, said Hui Matthews.

Recently on her trip to Sydney with her daughter, Hui was able to capture stunning pictures and videos of her adventures with the Galaxy Note8.

Captured with the Galaxy Note8

This brings a whole new meaning and experience to storytelling – be it hiking along the Blue Mountains of New South Wales or chasing the waves of Avoca – as the Galaxy Note8’s versatility gives Hui the freedom to explore in all conditions with its water and dust resistance, while capturing unforgettable moments in any light.

Everyone has a dream they set out to chase. Be it big or small, dreams give us the motivation to pursue our ambitions and achieve our goals. With their innovative minds and the burning desire to succeed, females all over Malaysia have what it takes to achieve their goals and aspirations they long strive towards.

As a leader in technology that strives to inspire people, Samsung Malaysia Electronics is in support of those dreams. Samsung wants to bring out the super in every woman by giving them the tools to help influence people to Do What They Can’t.

Kuala Lumpur, 24 October 2017 – There are many things that unite Malaysians, but the one that tops the list is our love for food and our passion of capturing the beauty of our scrumptious treat to share with friends. And it doesn’t end there. Food pictures then make their way to the social sphere where they attempt to make mouths water and stomachs growl. While a handful have mastered the art of great food photography, many are still working on their dexterities to capture gorgeous food pictures.

“Pictures in general are a great way to document memories and introduce people to new places and foods. What better way to document a great meal or catch up with old friends over “food therapy” than by taking a picture? With this in mind, we are proud to bring you the Galaxy J7+ and its fantastic dual rear camera that allows for better focus, greater depth of field and sharper clarity,” said Mr KM Liew, Head of IT & Mobile Business, Samsung Malaysia Electronics.

With amateur photography on the rise and social media sharing at our fingertips, Samsung has built the ideal everyday mobile camera by popping in a second rear camera into the Galaxy J7+. The two rear cameras (13MP f1.7 + 5MP f1.9) allow for a higher level of smartphone photography; providing better focusing, a greater depth of field and sharper clarity. Users can also try their hand at pseudo-professional photo taking through its Live Focus photography mode. This feature allows users to adjust out-of-focus background (bokeh) effect before and after the photo has been taken – making it extremely easy to snap high-quality social-worthy photos of food trips!

“Bokeh” effect through the Galaxy J7+ ‘Live Focus’ feature

Besides that, the device’s dual rear and front cameras also come with improved aperture 13MP f1.7 + 5MP f1.9 (rear), and 16MP f1.9 (front) lenses for capturing brighter and more aesthetically pleasing photos in low-light conditions. With this, the common folk can now capture delectable cuisines even in low-light conditions, be it outdoor food truck festivals or romantic candlelight dinners.

Taking good photos of food, especially with a smartphone, is a skill to be mastered; but with a gadget as nifty as the Galaxy J7+, your mission to curate social-worthy food pictures is half accomplished. Now to collect those hearts on social media, possessing smartphone photography skills can go a long way in increasing the likeability of your pictures. If you are familiar with photography, you know that light, style, perspective, timing, quantity and quality of the subject all collectively make a great photo. These things are not much different when you photograph food with your smartphone camera.

Food pictures are adjustable in any lighting conditions

With over six thousand spoken languages in the world; photography serves as one of the most universally understood forms of communication. Food deepens that communication, as it is something that everyone can relate to; and now we have the technology that enables us bridge the gap between our dining experiences and shared lives. The food trend is ever-evolving and with new cafes emerging in Malaysia on a regular basis, you won’t want to miss out on capturing high-quality food moments with the Galaxy J7+ to share with your friends!
