As the Odyssey Cup Counter-Strike 2 Championship approaches its highly anticipated Grand Finals, it has proven to be one of the region’s most thrilling esports event to date. First launched in 2023, the Odyssey Cup has established itself as a highlight in the region’s esports calendar. From the Odyssey Cup Influencer Invitational in 2023, to the Odyssey Cup Dota 2 Championship in 2024, Samsung remains steadfast in providing a platform for gaming enthusiasts and aspiring champions to shine.

Designed as a multi-stage competition, the 2025 Odyssey Cup will see participating markets —Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam—crown their own champions during the national qualifiers from 7 to 30 November, before advancing their winning teams to the regional stage.

Registration for Malaysian participants opens from 30 October to 5 November, so gamers are encouraged to sign up early to secure their slots.

In Malaysia, livestreams of the national qualifiers will be broadcast on 7, 8, and 9 November 2025, bringing fans closer to the action as top teams compete for a spot in the grand finale.

The winning teams will subsequently enter a group draw to determine match-ups for the exciting grand finale, which will be held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 12 to 14 December, where they will compete for the regional championship title and an attractive US$50,000 prize pool.

Building on the success of last year’s Odyssey Cup Influencer Invitational and the recently concluded Campus League, the 2024 Odyssey Cup aims to unite an even larger gaming community, promising a more thrilling and immersive experience for players and spectators alike.

Open to all gaming enthusiasts aged 18 and above, this edition of the Odyssey Cup offers a comprehensive competitive gaming experience while spotlighting Samsung’s new gaming monitors suited for esports. The new Pro vs. Amateur format allows aspiring gamers to compete against seasoned professionals, creating a dynamic and inclusive environment tailored to the diverse needs of dedicated players and casual gamers. The tournament will showcase Dota 2, a classic game known for its strategic complexity and vibrant esports community.

The tournament structure involves dual rounds of qualifiers with representatives from six SEA markets – Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam – contending to advance to the SEA finals. They will then compete alongside four invited pro teams to vie for a spot in the grand finals, where the top six teams will progress. Concurrently, two teams from two Oceania markets – New Zealand and Australia will join the final playoffs, rounding out the eight teams in a fierce fight for the regional championship title and up to US$20,000 cash prize pool.

The tournament will kick off virtually, with online qualifiers from 21 to 25 September 2024, followed by the SEA finals on 28 and 29 September 2024. All eight teams will then compete for the top spot in an exciting grand finale that will be held at the Hatten Hotel in Melaka, with the playoffs scheduled from 10 to 13 October 2024.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd concluded its inaugural Odyssey Cup, an esports virtual tournament that united professional gamers, influencers, and the wider gaming community in the Southeast Asia region, for exciting live broadcasts of Valorant in an influencer-fan tournament format, from November 11 to December 17.

The Odyssey Cup provided a vibrant atmosphere that united the esports community to share and celebrate their passion for gaming, featuring a diverse selection of Samsung gaming monitors. Influencers who got to try the Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor testified that the monitor provides exceptional visuals and speed for all casual and hardcore gamers. The Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor is Samsung’s first DQ OLED in curved screen of 49” with AI upscaling and incredibly fast 0.03ms gray-to-gray (GtG) response time.

For the past two months, participating teams harnessed their skills and developed game strategies through rounds of playoffs, group stages and finally top three teams: Rapid Lofi, Kadiliman, and Frootielooops, gathered for an exciting grand final on December 17. Rapid Lofi emerged as overall Champions the following day.

Influencers Afiqchii from Malaysia, Layla2k4 from Vietnam, and Notesoteric from Singapore shared that they looked forward to more Samsung tournaments, with hopes for a full-scale on-ground event next season to fully experience Samsung monitors and connect with players from other regions, in-person.

Fans were also treated to Odyssey gaming experiences with promo codes for savings off selected models of the Odyssey monitors, released during the livestreams on the Official Samsung Odyssey Twitch Channel and KOLs’ social media channels.

Building the esports community one step at a time

Eight influencers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam led handpicked teams for their respective campaigns, with each team comprising of four fans recruited by the influencers, vying to win a total prize pool of US$10,000.

Each influencer leveraged their reach to scout and recruit four members to join their team within their respective communities. The influencers played an active role in mentoring each individual to reach their utmost potential throughout the competition, helping to shape a new generation of shoutcasters, analysts, hosts, and more. They also broadcasted the games on their social platforms so that their fans and followers could also follow the action as it happened.

From November 18 to 19, Samsung Malaysia hosted four influencers’ teams – Sol8erry, Anissasyikin, Afiqchii, and Rexxy – to group stage matches at Orange Esports Café in Quill City Mall, Kuala Lumpur. Let’s see what they have said in this event! The event attracted 150 attendees, who were eager to cheer on the players while checking out the range of Samsung monitors. Attendees received Valorant points with every match played, while each influencer selected four lucky winners to redeem a Samsung Smart Monitor M5.

Notesoteric, based in Singapore, was elated to experience the thrilling e-sports atmosphere. The event, featuring notable shoutcasters from the Valorant scene, provided an exciting space for all gamers to showcase their gaming skills, within a dynamic and electrifying atmosphere. Notesoteric noted that this unique opportunity has highlighted the exciting intersection of influencer marketing and professional gaming and deepened his passion for esports.

At the end of the tournament on December 17, one lucky winner from every country walked away with a Samsung Odyssey OLED G9 gaming monitor.
