In view of the coming Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, Samsung prepared a short feature film entitled “Julian and His Magical Skates”, a special tribute to the rising star. The video was fully recorded and illustrated with the Samsung Galaxy Note8 and its S Pen, further cementing Samsung’s progress in innovation and of doing the impossible.

The Galaxy Note8 is Samsung’s ultimate productivity device, the very tool to help you push boundaries and break past your limits. As we heard Julian’s story, we wanted to get into the mood of Do What You Can’t as well. We’ll be releasing a behind-the-scenes video soon, shot entirely on a Galaxy Note8 as well, so everyone can experience the journey as we brought the video to life.”

Kuala Lumpur, 21 December 2017 – Samsung Malaysia Electronics has announced that Bixby’s voice capabilities are now available in Mandarin Chinese. This gives existing Malaysian users of the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note8 devices an additional option to experience Samsung’s intelligent interface in their own comfortable language.

KM Liew, Head of Samsung Malaysia Electronics’ IT & Mobile division, said that Samsung’s move to introduce the new language within Bixby is due to strong interests from the large Mandarin Chinese-speaking community in Malaysia.

“We at Samsung believe this is a significant step forward in allowing our consumers do and achieve things in a more comfortable and convenient way, as Mandarin is the mother tongue and first language of many Malaysians. We are confident that now, many more users of these devices will be able to fully experience Bixby as it was meant to be experienced,” said Mr Liew.

Prior to this, other language options that were supported by Bixby were US English and Korean. The introduction of Bixby in Mandarin Chinese will allow Malaysian consumers more flexibility, contextual awareness and cognitive tolerance in interacting with their Samsung devices for a superior and seamless experience. For example, users can say “dă kāi xiàng jī (打开相机)” and Bixby will do the honours of opening up the camera app.

With the introduction of its new language capability, Mandarin Chinese will now be integrated into Bixby Home, Reminder and Vision, as well as selected native apps by Samsung, Bixby Lab and other third parties. Via Mandarin Chinese, existing Malaysian users will be able to smoothly switch from voice command, to touch, to text, and back to voice in their own comfortable language.

As Samsung is constantly looking to meet industry demands, Bixby will be continually improved with updates and added features, according to consolidated feedback from the Samsung consumer community. Not only that, its natural language-understanding ability allows Bixby to continuously improve its interpretations of regional dialects, giving users the option to interact with Bixby in even more Chinese dialects in time.

Bixby’s availability on the Galaxy S8, S8+ and Note8 is just the beginning. As the Bixby ecosystem grows, it will connect across devices, apps and services as an intelligent interface, and open up new experiences and scenarios to ensure convenience.

Characters such as these have served as icons for strong and driven women; but beyond comic books and TVs, there is no shortage of real life superwomen that are closer to home. Inspirational females at the top of their field are all around us – and there is plenty they can teach us.

We spoke to three inspirational female entrepreneurs in Malaysia about their journey on taking the reins and turning their dreams into reality. Embarking on the Superwomen of Malaysia campaign presented by the Samsung Galaxy Note8, they are excited to share their stories and adventures, in hopes of inspiring like-minded females to start doing bigger and better things.

Whether they have spent years creating change in the education system or building a fashion brand from a humble idea, these superwomen learnt the ropes of their chosen profession, raised families, and mastered the art of balance. Nurul Zulkifli

Founder and Designer of fashion label MimpiKita

Stiff competition is among the challenges Nurul Zulkifli faced in the fashion industry, and yet she continued to set her sights on undertaking bigger challenges. Today, she has developed her own fashion label, MimpiKita, and built a brand identity for herself. Her hard work and perseverance paid off when she debuted at London Fashion Week in 2015, a show every designer dreams of showcasing their creative and innovative designs for the world to see.

As the fashion industry today is strongly influenced by social media, Nurul also believes that having an visually exciting social media timeline is a contributing factor to drive new customers and visitors to her social media pages and subsequently her boutique. One great example is when she formed a team of students who barely spoke English into a choral speaking squad that went on to become top qualifiers at a district-level choral speaking competition.
