A smarter Bixby voice assistant on Samsung TVs now delivers a more natural and personalized experience. With a smarter Bixby, users can easily wake it up by voice or by pressing the mic button to start a conversation — no commands, no menus, no typing.

The new Bixby understands context and follow-up questions, enabling more fluid interactions that feel like a real conversation. Powered by Generative AI, Bixby can answer any questions you may have, whether you’re asking about general information, such as “How tall is Mount Everest?”, or recommendations like “Please suggest chill playlists for a rainy day”.  By simply asking, Bixby can help answer questions about on-screen content, as it retrieves the most relevant details and displays them on screen. It’s a smarter, faster way to get more out of your TV without breaking your viewing flow.

Effortless Home Device Management with Bixby and SmartThings

Equipped with a smarter Bixby, Samsung TVs can detect, connect and control appliances with Samsung SmartThings enabled. By speaking directly to their screen, users can leverage the SmartThings ecosystem to execute voice commands, such as “Turn off the oven now,” or “Set the air conditioner to 25 degrees,” transforming their smart TV into a central hub for managing other smart home appliances.

Moreover, Bixby is secured by Samsung Knox, the industry-leading security solution designed to protect users’ sensitive personal data. Users can enjoy AI-driven personalized features without worrying about privacy concerns, as no user voice data is stored on servers or TVs.

Ongoing Support and Availability

Smarter Bixby will be available on 2025 Samsung TVs, including Neo QLED, OLED, The Frame and QLED models, with availability starting in South Korea and extending to global markets in phases.

Samsung Newsroom attended the final Tech Forum session, titled “Understanding Home, Understanding You: Rethinking the Role of the Home in the Era of AI,” to examine the transformative potential of AI in smart home innovation and the need for collaboration to deliver on the promise of Home AI.

Smart UI as the Gateway to Home AI

User interface (UI) is a critical element in the Home AI experience, serving as the bridge between users and their mobile devices, TVs, home appliances and more.

“UI is a key area in the age of AI,” said Patrick Chomet, Mobile Strategy Advisor at Samsung Electronics. “With the advent of LLM multimodal AI, a big shift has taken place in User Interface (UI), enabling people to get things done in natural and simple ways such as gesture, voice or text interaction. Users no longer needs to understand devices, rather the device should understand the user’s intent.”

He explained how intelligent user interfaces not only enable more intuitive interactions but also procure deeper understandings of user context and intent, which brands can use to optimize in-home solutions.

“We have implemented an intuitive and concise UI for various SmartThings features,” said Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings Team at Samsung Electronics.

She engaged the audience with examples of our latest SmartThings functions including Quick Remote, a feature that enables users to control their TVs with a connected Galaxy smartphone; 3D Map View, a feature that allows users to manage their entire home and check energy consumption through Galaxy smartphones and tablets; and Home Insight, a feature that provides timely home reports and delivers personalized recommendations to users.

The Role of Platforms and Standardization in Shaping Smart Homes

 The panelists then delved into the efforts required to make Home AI a reality. Moderator Carolina Milanesi, CEO and founder of Heart of Tech and President at Creative Strategies, introduced the topics of integrated AI platforms and industry standards to guide the discussion.

“As we scale our AI platform to reach across applications, services and multiple devices, the experience can be optimized around the user,” said Chomet. “User context and richer insights can be gathered to deliver relevant and truly personalized experiences.”

“The SmartThings platform is 10 years in the making and while the concept of a smart home isn’t new, AI technology is what is truly creating the intelligent home” added Jung, highlighting how a consistent and connected AI platform empowers users to enjoy effortless convenience from anywhere. “The transition from a device-centric philosophy to an AI-powered, user-centric one provides users with a personalized, connected experience that feels like home — no matter where they are.”

Tobin Richardson, President and CEO of the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), noted the importance of industry standards in building an ecosystem in which devices can be connected simply, securely and seamlessly.

“Building blocks for AI in the home are grounded in seamless connectivity, with AI relying on device interoperability to thrive. A common language like Matter enables devices to communicate effortlessly, setting the stage for AI innovation,” he said, highlighting that the goal is not just to create a connected experience but to foster a robust and trustworthy industry while making smart homes more accessible and reliable.

“Alliance Members like Samsung are doing remarkable work in the AI space, showcasing how technology can adapt to users’ needs, creating a smarter and more personalized living experience,” said Richardson, reaffirming the company’s dedication to collaboration. “I am continually inspired to see how these advancements are shaping the future of connected homes.”

A More Personalized, Secure Smart Home

Addressing concerns regarding the challenge of providing personalized experiences in homes shared by multiple people, Chomet spoke on how AI technology can understand intent and context to provide an optimized experience for each user. He emphasized that Samsung will innovate for multi-device connectivity, rather than individual products.

Jung also cited practical cases of how Samsung Health and SmartThings are connecting data and devices to provide hyper-personalized health experiences. For example, Samsung Health and SmartThings can optimize sleep environments by automatically adjusting temperature and humidity based on users’ sleep patterns and the environmental conditions they live in. When Galaxy devices recognize that users have been exercising, SmartThings will activate appliances such as air conditioners and washing machines upon their return home.

The discussion then touched on the critical role of security and the protection of personal information in smart homes.

“Samsung places the highest priority on security in every aspect,” said Jung. She highlighted how Knox Matrix safeguards the smart home ecosystem while Knox Vault protects hardware.   “By integrating the expansive SmartThings ecosystem and AI with the robust security of Samsung Knox, users can enjoy personalized smart living experiences safely.”

“With more than eight out of ten consumers stating that security is ‘important’ or ‘very important’ to them, security and privacy protection are key factors,” said Richardson, echoing the importance of trust in connected devices. “Matter, our next-generation smart home standard, is built with security in mind and offers a level of trust and clarity users can rely on.”

At the heart of the Galaxy S25 series is the evolution of its AI capabilities, powered by the next-generation One UI 7 operating system. For example, the newly introduced Now Brief learns user routines and delivers customized information like exercise updates, translations, music and more, directly to the lock screen, eliminating the need to toggle between multiple apps.

Another game-changing feature is AI Select, introduced for the first time on the Galaxy S25 series. Accessible through the Edge Panel, AI Select functions as a personal AI assistant, capable of summarizing lengthy articles in seconds or aiding in creative tasks like generating colorful images with Drawing Assist.

With One UI 7, the Galaxy S25 series’ built-in multimodal AI recognizes natural language, images and text, enabling users to interact naturally and achieve more with minimal effort. This means its intelligent features can be triggered by simple voice commands. For instance, saying “My eyes are tired” prompts the Galaxy S25 series to activate the blue light filter, while “Find a photo of Max from last winter in a red coat, eating cake” searches the Gallery app to locate the desired image.

Circle to Search has also been enhanced to identify music playing on-screen without needing to open a separate app.

While watching YouTube videos, users can also issue voice commands like “List the place mentioned in this video and save it as a Note,” and Galaxy AI, powered by Google’s Gemini, seamlessly saves the location directly to Samsung Notes.

Security First: Enhancing Connectivity and Safety

Security is at the core of Bespoke Home AI. Samsung has made protecting user data a top priority by leveraging Knox technology to ensure greater security for homes. With this safety in mind, SmartThings is rapidly expanding its integrated ecosystem — providing enhanced security in a connected environment where devices monitor each other’s security status.

Home AI: Technology That Understands Users’ Tastes and Their Living Spaces

The BESPOKE AI Lifestyle Zone demonstrated various connected experiences with Samsung home appliances including the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub, the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI and the Bespoke Slide-in Range.

▲ Bixby can recognize a user’s voice and switch to their individual Family Hub account when they ask about their daily schedule.[4] If a user has large print mode enabled on their phone, the accessibility feature automatically syncs with the Family Hub refrigerator screen when they speak.

▲ Home AI helps reduce wasted ingredients and saves user’s time with the Bespoke 4-Door Refrigerator with AI Family Hub’s AI Vision Inside[5] and Bixby. When a user asks Bixby if there are any ingredients nearing their expiration date, the voice assistant provides a list. A follow-up request for recipes prompts Bixby to suggest tailored recommendations[6] using those ingredients. Bixby can then send the recipe instructions to the Bespoke Slide-in Range, automatically setting the temperature and cooking time.

▲ When mobile GPS and home sensors detect that users are away, appliances can autonomously operate in a Home AI environment to match users’ preferences. Noisy tasks like the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI emptying its dust bin[7] or the WindFree Air Conditioner drying its interior can be handled while users are away.

If sensors detect suspicious activity while family members are away, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI moves to the location to assess the situation with its internal camera and sends a SmartThings notification to the user’s mobile device for real-time video monitoring. If an intrusion is identified, an alert will immediately be sent to the user’s connected security provider.[8] Furthermore, Samsung appliances proactively prevent everyday dangers. For instance, the Bespoke AI Induction cooktop[9] will automatically adjust its power to prevent any accidents if left on for too long.[10]

Video displays presented Samsung’s Multi Device Experience (MDE) features and highlighted the values of Ease of Use, Care and Saving — showcasing the WindFree Air Conditioner that customizes operation according to usage patterns, the Bespoke Jet Bot Combo AI that records videos of pets[11] with a built-in camera and sends a notification to SmartThings and the SmartThings energy usage report[12] that makes energy use more efficient.

AI Home Touch Screens Easy Control Anytime, Anywhere

AI Home[13] touch screens allow users to reduce the burden of household chores and easily control their connected Samsung home appliances from the comfort of their home.[14]

The Screens Everywhere Zone showcased a refrigerator with a new 9-inch AI Home screen and the new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set with 7-inch AI Home screen, both introduced this year. Appliances equipped with AI Home can be controlled securely without the need for a separate hub.

Whether listening to music or on a call, users can move seamlessly between rooms and continue watching content on connected devices throughout their home.

Samsung showcased AI-powered smart appliances designed to save time and enhance efficiency. The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, for example, adjusts washing and drying based on fabric type while completing both tasks — eliminating the need to move the laundry across machines. Similarly, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Combo[1] learns users’ daily routines to autonomously clean floors and manage mopping through Bixby.[2]

In the Home for Loved Ones zone, visitors were introduced to AI solutions that help care for family members, pets and plants[3]. Integrated with advanced connected sensors, SmartThings can detect incidents like falls, sending emergency alerts to pre-approved connected devices such as family members’ smartphones, TVs and Family Hub refrigerators[4].

This exhibition space captured visitors’ attention by showcasing comprehensive management solutions for all household members in user’s lives including pets, children and plants. Highlights included the Galaxy SmartTag2 for tracking pet activity and detecting unusual behavior, and SmartThings-enabled features that send alerts when a baby cries or monitor and adjust the temperature and light levels to support plant care.

The Home for Productivity zone spotlighted tools for optimizing work and study powered by Galaxy AI. Visitors experienced the soon-to-be-released Galaxy Book5 Pro’s AI Select feature, enabling them to instantly search specific areas on the screen or extract text from images for quick and easy access to information.

Home for Art

In the Home for Art zone, visitors were greeted by famous works of art — presented by Samsung Art Store in collaboration with seven renowned art institutions including the Musée d’Orsay, Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), The Metropolitan Museum of Art (MET), Museo Nacional del Prado, Tate, Belvedere and Art Basel. This area offered a unique cultural experience to visitors while showcasing the versatility of Samsung’s cutting-edge screens.

The AI TV space introduced visitors to the newest trends in AI TVs and other technologies that can be implemented around the home. The Transparent MICRO LED impressed with its crystal-clear image quality and high transparency, and the AI home companion Ballie drew attention as well.

Creating a Smarter Mobile Future With Galaxy AI

Finally, guests experienced the latest AI features across the Galaxy lineup in the Galaxy AI Ecosystem space. Showcasing a truly integrated experience, various devices from the Galaxy product family were on display — including the Galaxy Z series, Galaxy Watch, Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Book.

Visitors expressed keen interest in the new levels of connectivity between devices, with some commenting that the practical features are exactly what they’ve been waiting for.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced it is showcasing its latest energy-efficient appliance lineup for the European lifestyle at IFA 2024. The new product range includes a BESPOKE AI Washer with A-55% extra energy efficiency,[1] a Bespoke AI Laundry Combo that achieves an A rating for the complete cycle,[2] and an A-10% Bespoke Dishwasher [3]. Drawing on its longstanding dedication to enhancing energy efficiency, Samsung has improved its core technologies to respond to the consumer needs for better ways to save energy in everyday life.

“Samsung has a long track record of bringing its energy efficient lineup to European markets, and IFA is an ideal setting for showcasing these types of solutions,” said Moohyung Lee, EVP and Head of the Customer Experience Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics. “We expect that new models will be the right choice for customers who are seeking for the extra energy efficiency at home.”

A More Efficient Washing Experience 

The most notable achievement out of Samsung’s high-energy rating lineup at IFA 2024 is the BESPOKE AI Washer. The model, planned for next year’s launching[4], consumes up to 55% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for a Class A rating[5]. Following the A-40% model that launched in the first half this year, the new product has applied Samsung’s technologies to achieve an additional energy saving.

Samsung applies advanced technologies to achieve up to 55% less energy consumption than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for the Class A rating. The core of these advanced technologies is the Bubble Shot, which pulls soapy water through the circulation pump and sprays it on top of the laundry inside the drum. This makes washing more effective by drenching the laundry more easily and allowing the detergent to penetrate clothing evenly. It combines with Ecobubble and algorithms to enhance extra energy efficiency.

The implementation of AI Home[6] is an additional noteworthy change. This 7’’ wide LCD touchscreen on the device serves as an intuitive control center for the laundry. Not only can users quickly choose their laundry cycle, but they can also receive the personalized washing recommendations that suits their habits and periodic needs. [7] It allows for effective user control and laundry care.

All-in-one, Energy Efficient Laundry Solution

At IFA, Samsung is also displaying the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, which will soon be available in the European market. The model combines a washer and a dryer in a single machine freeing users from the hassle of transferring the load to the dryer after washing. The combo is distinctive in that there is significant improvement in energy efficiency, achieving an A rating across the entire washing and drying cycle[8] , with an A-20% for washing[9]. This is the highest level in Samsung’s combo lineup in Europe.

Samsung has worked hard to improve the drying efficiency especially. The Heatpump Drying technology dries clothes quickly, gently and efficiently at low temperatures. Furthermore, a specially designed duct structure improves the efficiency of internal air circulation, allowing for the efficient reuse and transfer of heat energy. Meanwhile, to achieve a high energy rating in the wash only cycle, the Bubble Shot Technology is implemented. It make the laundry drench well by spraying soapy water from the top using the circulation pump. As a result, the combo’s complete wash cycle exceeds the minimum energy efficiency requirements for the Class A threshold by up to 20%, with the wash and dry cycle receiving a well-deserved Class A.

Clean Effectively, Save More Energy

The Bespoke Dishwasher[10] with extra energy efficiency will be also displayed at IFA 2024. It not only boasts a stylish look with its Kitchen Fit Sliding Door[11] design that seamlessly matches kitchen furniture, but also offers effective performance while saving energy by up to 10% than the requirements for an A energy rating. [12]

A WaterJet Clean and an Active Fan Dry system play an important role in delivering this extra efficiency. First, WaterJet Clean delivers intensive cleaning from every angle with rotating dual wash arms, thanks to the specially designed All-in-one Sump module.[13] It generates a unique flow path to make the product exceptionally power efficient and uses only 7.9 liters[14] of water ― which is a significantly low level compared to conventional models[15] ― without impacting its performance.

The Active Fan Dry system,[16] on the other hand, enhances internal air circulation, leading to less energy consumption. It blows gentle and moderate wind using two fans on the walls of the tub during drying. Since this wind helps evaporate moisture, less latent heat is required from the rinsing water. Therefore, it reduces the amount of energy used for heating the rinsing water. As a result, users can neatly finish the cycle with enhanced energy efficiency.

Additional Energy Savings Through SmartThings Connectivity

With these advancements in hardware, Samsung’s new energy efficient lineup also support SmartThings AI Energy Mode.[17] After connecting appliances to SmartThings, users can check daily, weekly and monthly power consumption. And when the estimated monthly electricity bill exceeds the targeted amount, they can activate AI Energy Mode through SmartThings app to proactively save energy. With the cycles that work with AI Energy Mode, the BESPOKE AI Washer saves energy usage by up to 70%,[18] the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo saves energy up to 60% on washing and up to 30% on drying.[19] And the dishwasher uses up to 21% less energy with the Pots & Pans program.[20]

Visitors at IFA 2024 ― being held in Berlin from September 6 to 10 ― will be able to see Samsung’s new energy efficient appliances at Samsung booth. The Bespoke Dishwasher is currently available in several European countries and the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is set to launch in select European countries in the fourth quarter this year. And the BESPOKE AI Washer will roll out in different European countries early next year.

Samsung Electronics, today announced that SmartThings, its global connected living platform, has received the international standard ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification for information security management systems (ISMSs).

ISO 27001 is the leading global standard for ISMSs and was established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The standard provides companies with guidance to manage the risks to information assets systematically and achieve information protection goals.

This certification was received from the British Standards Institution (BSI), a world-renowned standardization and certification organization. To be certified, a company has to meet the standard across a total of 123 detailed items, including policies for information security, access control for information assets and incident response, among others.

With this certification, Samsung has proven that the information protection of its SmartThings Cloud operates in accordance with international standards while providing integrated connected experiences. This official recognition will further boost trust and strengthen business competitiveness — not only with SmartThings users but also partners.
