Singapore – March 25, 2019 – Samsung Electronics Co. today showcased its entire 2019 QLED TV line-up equipped with an unrivalled, world-class picture quality, at the 2019 Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania Forum in Singapore. This next-generation 2019 QLED TV line-up, will be available at Southeast Asian retailers from April this year.

Samsung unveiled its 98” QLED 8K – it’s largest yet – adding to its 2019 lineup that features 65”, 75”, 82”, and 85” models. Samsung’s QLED 8K TVs come equipped with Samsung’s proprietary Quantum Processor, the AI-powered picture processing semiconductor technology, that enable an improved viewing experience. Unveiled by Samsung Electronics as an industry first, its machine-learning Quantum processor employs its AI capabilities to learn and compare millions of images that help it to calibrate lower-resolution sources and optimize them into 8K-quality content regardless of the original format. Thereby solving for the issue of limited native 8K content and earning a prestigious Innovation Award at CES 2019. This is Samsung’s smartest and most powerful TV yet.

Other key products in the 2019 QLED line-up include a suite of 8K and 4K TVs, including the 8K Q950R that ranges from 65-inch to 98-inch in size, as well as the 4K Q90R, Q85R, Q80R, Q70R and Q60R that range from 43-inch to 82-inch in size. In total, the expanded 2019 QLED line-up features more than 20 models and includes more large-screen models.

Increasing the number of large-screen models in its TV line-up is part of a wider strategy at Samsung, arising from shifting consumer demands. According to global business information provider IHS Markit, the market for 75-inch TVs or bigger TVs recorded 2.1 million units in 2018 and is expected to grow by 43% to 3 million units this year and to 5.8 million units by 2022.

The best picture quality with significantly improved viewing angles and black levels

Equipped with upgraded Ultra Viewing Angle technology, Samsung’s 2019 QLED TVs will allow for backlight to pass through the TV’s panels more evenly onto the screen, thanks to improved panel structure and new screen calibration algorithms to enhance the TV’s viewing angles. It delivers consistently stunning picture quality from every viewing angle without glare or reflections in the daytime and in brightly-lit rooms.

Along with several picture quality upgrades in 2019, the adoption of Direct Full Array models¹ has nearly doubled from last year. Direct Full Array technology puts backlit LEDs behind the panel for precise brightness control, allowing the light to be adjusted individually to create deeper blacks. Algorithms that recognize and adjust black colors more precisely analyze the characteristics of each scene in real-time for brightness distribution and black ratios to control the backlight and help the 2019 QLED TVs deliver superb black color reproduction.

In addition, all Samsung 2019 QLED TVs will feature HDR10+, a premium picture processing format. The HDR10+ standard makes bright scenes brighter and dark scenes darker by optimising the contrast for each scene, so that users can enjoy a detail-rich picture. The QLED 8K TVs will also support HDMI 2.1 (8K 60P) transmission.

Ambient Mode offers even greater variety of decoration and art

Through Ambient Mode, Samsung’s QLED TVs elevate the home setting by displaying decorative content, useful information, your own photos and can even mimic the texture of the wall behind it². In addition, an even wider variety of themes are now available, which allows users to further customise Ambient Mode to complement the décor of their homes. Customers can also sync their ambient screens with music when they are not watching TV.

Samsung QLED TVs also come with an automatic light control sensor, allowing it to adapt its brightness levels to give users the optimal viewing experience, whether you’re watching TV late at night or in the bright morning sunshine.

Its unique Q-Drum^TM consists of a large main drum and a plate in the back that rotates independently. Unlike conventional washers that move clothes repeatedly up and down over the course of the cycle, the WW7800M moves clothes from top to bottom in the drum, and the plate in the back of the drum introduces a back and forth movement. A feature that sets the 2019 Family Hub apart from previous iterations is support for the new Bixby that allows for a smarter, hands-free, more personalized way to use the Family Hub. The new Bixby offers more services, allowing users to seamlessly control and monitor home IoT devices and services from the kitchen with your voice alone.

Users can ask Bixby for their Morning Brief while getting breakfast ready for the kids so they know all of their daily essentials such as the weather and top news. All of this appears on the Family Hub screen so they can see as well as hear it. Through Bixby’s voice ID technology, each family member’s voice is distinguished, so everyone can get tailored information for their individual needs. Bixby is even smarter and more conversational – allowing users to interact more naturally. Imagine, users can now search for a plane ticket through Expedia, call an Uber and pre-set the oven temperature just by talking to the Family Hub.

A lot of multitasking is required in the kitchen, so it can get quite hectic when you have to chop, prepare, and cook dishes at the same time. It gets even more tricky when your phone starts to ring. With an enhanced Smart View, multitasking is made easy, as you can mirror third-party apps on Family Hub’s screen seamlessly from your Galaxy phone, without the need to run the Smart View app on the fridge. Not only does the new Bixby allow you to answer a call hands-free, you can also browse through the millions of third-party apps available for the kitchen.

Get Smart with Healthier Food Management 

From the beginning, food management with Family Hub has been a cornerstone feature elevating the way homeowners manage their food – whether using “View Inside” to see if they need eggs from their smartphone while at the store or adding items to their shopping list and tagging expiration dates. The Family Hub enables a user to create better and healthier meals with Meal Planner, which customizes recipes based on food preferences, dietary needs and the items in the fridge.

Last but not least, the kitchen experience has become more intelligent and efficient with updated features for Food Management. With the new Family Hub 2019, users can search for healthy recipes or preset the oven directly from the Recipes app with easy-to-use voice features.
