Samsung Galaxy users can now experience productivity and connectivity within the most secure ecosystem with Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Continually

Samsung Galaxy users can now experience productivity and connectivity within the most secure ecosystem with Samsung’s Galaxy devices. Continually setting new standards of security, Samsung strives to keep more users safe in more ways than ever and with its latest security innovations users can live life with greater options and less effort – so life can truly open up possibilities, now and for years to come.

For Cybersecurity Awareness Month, here are six features you can leverage on your Galaxy device that ensures you stay connected and secure:

Worried about getting your payment data stolen?

With Samsung Wallet[1] you need not be. Samsung Wallet enables you to use your Galaxy devices, like your smartphone or smartwatch, to shop with your debit and credit cards virtually everywhere contactless transactions are accepted. Just add your cards to Samsung Wallet and tap to pay.

A key feature of Samsung Wallet is Samsung Pay, where every transaction is authenticated by your fingerprint or PIN. If your phone is lost or stolen, you can remotely lock or erase your Samsung Wallet account with SmartThings Find.

On top of this, your phone is protected by Samsung Knox technology which constantly monitors and keeps your information safe, ensuring your card information is encrypted in a separate and secure data vault at all times and isolated from the main operating system for even further protection. In Samsung Wallet, several special security methods like tokenization are used to protect your payment information and reduce the security risks inherent to plastic cards.

For that added peace of mind, you can also store your payment information and apps in Samsung’s Secure Folder[2], and even hide the icon so it doesn’t appear on your home or apps screen. Secure Folder protects your private content and apps from being accessed by others and is the place to store all the photos, videos, files, apps, and data that you want to keep private. The folder is protected by the defense-grade security platform, and you can also add passcode or biometric lock to keep your data safe from any prying eyes.

Annoyed by spam messages? With Samsung, protect yourself against unwanted disturbances so you focus on the things that matter.

While many of us might consider spam messages to simply be a nuisance, they could be hiding malicious code that is able to infect your device. This type of cyberattack, often called zero-click exploits, is typically disguised as image attachments within text.

Samsung Message Guard preemptively protects your device from these zero-click exploits and limits your exposure to these invisible threats. When an image file arrives, Samsung Message Guard checks the file bit by bit and processes it in a controlled environment, ensuring it is isolated from the rest of the device. This prevents any potential malicious code from accessing your phone’s files or interacting with its operating system. Samsung Message Guard is then able to neutralize any potential threat hiding in that image file. It also runs silently and largely invisibly in the background[3] and does not need to be activated by the user. So where previously you could be endangered without doing anything, now you are protected from zero-click exploits without lifting a finger.

Avoid misfiring a private photo or text with Samsung Galaxy’s Private Share[4], a privacy-preserving file-sharing function that allows you to share your data without being concerned about an invasion of privacy and loss of ownership.

Samsung Private Share comes with a myriad of features. As the owner of your data, you can ensure only the designated receiver can open files, set permission and expiration dates for the data, grant read-only access without the ability to re-share, revoke the data accessibility given to the receiver whenever you choose, ensure screen capture is not allowed and also see when the recipient received and opened it.

With Samsung Private Share, you can also safely remove location metadata from photos before sharing and courtesy of blockchain-based encryption technology, your files are securely and fully encrypted when shared.

Love working remotely? Work securely and flexibly with Samsung’s end-to-end protection.

Work from wherever you’re most comfortable, with Samsung’s Secure Wi-Fi which lets you browse the internet safely, even when you’re using unsecured, public Wi-Fi networks. It offers complete and secure protection by encrypting internet traffic and blocking any tracking apps. Up to 250 MB of Secure Wi-Fi per month is available automatically to Galaxy users[5].

Add Secure Wi-Fi icon directly on your home screen for easy access to the app – from which you can even route your internet traffic through two separate relays so no one can access your IP address, for enhanced privacy protection especially when you’re working remotely in public spaces.

Go through the day with greater peace of mind, knowing that Samsung lets you tailor your privacy the way you like.

Samsung Pass’[6] innovative biometric authentication technology ensures you no longer have to remember countless usernames and passwords again. It includes an Ultrasonic Fingerprint Sensor[7] that allows you to access important data easily and securely by counteracting spoofing attempts that use 2D replicas of your fingerprint.

With Samsung’s Security & Privacy Dashboard, you have complete control over who sees your data and how it gets used. In one easy-to-use Dashboard, you can view, set, and adjust all your app permissions, controls, and data-sharing opt-in features. The Dashboard also gives an overview of information that may be at risk, showing the safety status of security items, lets you quickly change settings to manage risks more seamlessly.

The Items that have the potential to make the biggest impact on your digital safety — including Lock Screen, Accounts, SmartThings Find, App Safety and Updates — are now instantly accessible at the top of the dashboard, with clear indicators provided if there are security issues. The Dashboard also includes instant action prompts, such as permissions, that make data management more transparent.

If you use your Galaxy phone or watch for your wellbeing and exercise, the Samsung Health app guarantees that your heath data is fully protected through encryption, with enhanced security provided by Knox that detects malicious software and prevents your health data from being misused.

Lost your phone? Don’t worry about your information and data getting into the wrong hands.

With SmartThings Find, you can locate, lock and wipe your device remotely, initiating a complete lockdown of access to your personal information. Find My Mobile is a part of Samsung’s SmartThings Find, and enables you to not only locate your Galaxy smartphone, but also your tablets, watches, and other devices.

New features and enhancements make it easier than ever to find your devices such as tracking the approximate location and route of your lost device, as well as locking the screen, the power button, and Samsung Wallet on the lost device. Ringing sounds can also be activated to help you find the device, and you can delete or back up data to Samsung Cloud to protect your information.

If you ever forget the screen lock code for your device, you can still reset the screen lock remotely from the SmartThings Find website. Offline Galaxy devices can also be found even when mobile data is disconnected, as long as they are turned on.

Open collaboration and a secure ecosystem

In line with Samsung’s philosophy of open collaboration, Samsung works closely with the most trusted industry partners and wider security community to define and expand security standards, by better identifying flaws before they become problematic. Alongside Samsung Knox Matrix, which goes beyond traditional security infrastructure to offer a comprehensive approach to security across devices’ ecosystem, Galaxy users get more secure and richer connected experiences across devices, with Samsung’s SmartThings. This means end-to-end protection and real-time threat detection, built into every single layer of their connected devices – be it mobile devices, TVs, smart home appliances and more.

At the end of the day, whether you’re working or pursuing your passions on the latest Galaxy devices, you’ll always have the privacy you want and the security you need for the freedom to go where life takes you.

You’ll enjoy your Galaxy Buds2 Pro even more if you know how to fully use and customise them to suit your needs. Here’s how to get the most out of Samsung’s premium wireless earbuds:

Pro Tip 1: Immerse in the same music at the same time with friends without pairing

Did you know you can listen to your favourite songs with friends at the same time, without having to pair and un-pair Bluetooth devices? With Buds Together[1], your friends can connect their Galaxy devices to the Galaxy Buds or Bluetooth speakers and vibe out to the same songs together instantly!

Pro Tip 2: Track your buds if you have misplaced them via the SmartThings app

With the SmartThings Find feature, you can conveniently locate your Galaxy Buds2 Pro, whether in or out of the case. SmartThings Find[2] can also detect if your buds are missing and send you a notification if they get left behind.

Pro Tip 3: Seamlessly connect your Galaxy Buds2 pro with other Samsung devices

Say you’re watching a movie on your Galaxy Tab through your Galaxy Buds2 Pro. If you get a call on your phone, you won’t have to toggle your audio source between your buds to your mobile audio or Galaxy Tab because Auto Switch[3] does it for you automatically! Your Galaxy Buds2 Pro will immediately switch its connection to your phone so you can answer, and back to your Galaxy Tab once you hang up, reconnecting to your movie. How convenient!

Pro Tip 4: Feel like you’re actually there with 360 Audio Recording

Listen to high-fidelity audio with a theater-like sound with the buds’ Complete Surround Sound with 360 Audio[4]. Experience the ultimate cinematic sound stage that moves with you thanks to improved head tracking response with motion prediction, so you’ll feel like you are right there inside the movie or rocking out on the concert stage.

Pro Tip 5: Rely on your own personal posture monitor

Studies have shown that heavy smartphone users may experience considerable stress on the cervical spine causing neck and muscle pain. Buds2 Pro also cares for your health with the Neck Stretch Reminder to bring you back to the correct posture. It alerts you on the smartphone if you maintain bad posture for more than 10 minutes and suggests light stretches to relieve aches.

Pro Tip 6: Never miss another message with voice notification

When your phone is being charged or you’re simply not in front of it while a text comes in, the Buds2 Pro will automatically read aloud your notifications when you’re wearing them. That way, you won’t miss a message or take too long before you text back.

Pro Tip 7: Tap your commands without touching your phone

Buttons and screen commands are a thing of the past with the Buds2 Pro’s tap controls. With just a tap, you can play music, skip songs, answer calls from a connected phone, and much more. You can also customise the touch commands for adjusting the volume, using voice commands, and enabling Ambient sound. And on the Buds2 Pro only, you can even launch Spotify!

Samsung Electronics today revealed that the SmartThings Find service, which first launched in October 2020, continues to grow rapidly, now comprising more than 100 million find nodes. Powered by SmartThings, the premier technology enabling connected living, around 230,000 devices are located through this feature every day.

“We’re incredibly proud of how quickly the SmartThings Find service has grown in less than a year, helping people all over the world locate hundreds of thousands of misplaced devices every day,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics. “SmartThings Find is yet another example of how Samsung is continuing to create meaningful new experiences that help make life more convenient and less stressful.”

The fast-growing SmartThings Find service enables users to pinpoint registered Galaxy smartphones, smartwatches, earbuds and even S Pen Pro, as well as personal belongings—like keys or wallets—that have a Galaxy SmartTag or SmartTag+ device attached. SmartThings Find, a standout feature of the SmartThings ecosystem, uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and ultra-wideband (UWB) technology to locate misplaced devices. Even if the device is offline, other Galaxy users can opt-in to enable their Galaxy smartphone or tablet to help others find nearby lost devices.

SmartThings Find is continuing to evolve with the addition of the newly launched SmartThings Find Members service, which now enables users to invite friends and family to become members of their SmartThings account, so they too can find and manage their devices. Users can now invite up to 19 other people to become members and locate up to 200 devices at once. Once someone has accepted your invitation to SmartThings Find Members, you can opt for them to be able to view your selected devices and locations for specific devices, all upon your consent.

SmartThings Find Members is particularly useful for families, as they try to keep up with pets or keep track of their car keys—even if they don’t have their phone with them.

Some of our possessions have a tendency to never be where we think they are, with smaller and less conspicuous objects often proving especially elusive.

Some of our possessions have a tendency to never be where we think they are, with smaller and less conspicuous objects often proving especially elusive.

On January 19, Samsung Electronics launched Galaxy SmartTag, a gadget to take the pain out of misplacing your personal items. Measuring slightly less than 4cm by 4cm and weighing only 13 grams, the Galaxy SmartTag can be attached to keys, luggage or any of your other personal belongings to make them easily trackable on your smartphone.

How to Use the Galaxy SmartTag

Before you can use your Galaxy SmartTag, it first needs to be connected to your smartphone1.

Simply press the button in the middle of the SmartTag, and then press it once more when prompted by your smartphone. You will then be able to see the location of the tag on a map using SmartThings Find in the SmartThings app and use features like navigation to locate the tag or have it emit a chime.

[Found it!] ① Car Keys Under the Sofa

You’re late for work, but the car keys you left on the shelf aren’t there anymore. You check your bag and your pockets, but the keys are nowhere to be found! You pick up your smartphone and open SmartThings Find. Once you press ‘Ring’, a beeping sound starts coming from under the sofa2– the last place you would have thought to check! Thanks to SmartTag, you make it to work on time.

[Found it!] ② Smartphone Stuck Down the Side of the Bed

You’re sure you left your smartphone on the bed, but after doing some housework you come back to find that it’s not there. There’s no one home who you can ask to call your phone, and even if there were, you left your phone on silent mode! You’re left with no choice but to search the entire house.

Luckily for you, your Galaxy SmartTag can also be used to locate your smartphone by activating the ‘locate smartphone with Tag’2 feature to make your phone emit a sound. You press the button on your SmartTag twice, and your smartphone starts beeping, allowing you to locate it trapped between the mattress and the bed frame.

[Found it!] ③ My Dog, the Troublemaker

“Ding-dong”. When he hears the doorbell, your dog Buddy races to the door. As nice as it is that he greets visitors, he sometimes gets out while you’re receiving a delivery.

Once again, Buddy escapes the moment you open the door and runs off down the street. Fortunately, you’ve attached a SmartTag to Buddy’s collar. When the Galaxy SmartTag is near your smartphone, it uses Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) technology3 to provide the location of the tag. If the tag is not near your phone or Bluetooth is disconnected, it uses other nearby Galaxy smartphones to detect the SmartTag signal and help you locate what you have lost. You open the map in SmartThings Find, navigate to the designated pin, and find Buddy waiting in front of the bakery.

[Found it!] ④ Using your Galaxy SmartTag to Operate Home Appliances

You’re heading out, and have already gotten to your car when you remember that you forgot to turn off the air purifier in the house. Instead of heading back in, you just press the button on the Galaxy SmartTag hanging from your bag.

The Galaxy SmartTag is useful not only for locating items, but also in remotely controlling your smart devices. Through the SmartThings app, users can set functions to be executed when the tag button is pressed once briefly, and when it is pressed and held.2 Once you set up other devices in the ‘Mode’ menu of the SmartThings app4, you will be able to control multiple appliances with your SmartTag.

The Galaxy SmartTag is a compact, easy-to-use solution that helps you protect your possessions, from small objects to your most valuable belongings. If you are prone to misplacing things and want to take better care of your belongings, the Galaxy SmartTag is for you.

1 Availability may vary by market and carrier. Available on Galaxy smartphones and tablets running Android 8 or later.

2 Available only when both Galaxy SmartTag and your Galaxy smartphone are connected.

3 The Bluetooth range of the Galaxy SmartTag is up to 120 meters in an environment with no obstacles. Actual performance may vary depending on the environment.

4 Only possible to control devices that are registered on the SmartThings app
