We made the call and we hear you! Malaysian youth have been sharing their unstoppable stories as part of Samsung’s campaign #TeamUnstoppableMY22. If you have yet to share your unstoppable story, and stand a chance to win a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4, now’s your chance as the campaign will conclude on Wednesday, 12 October 2022.

#TeamUnstoppableMY22 is part of Samsung’s regional #TeamUnstoppable that calls on Gen Zs and millennials of Southeast Asia to share their story on how they faced their challenges head-on and achieved greater heights. Based on the theme “Together, We are Unstoppable” their stories will serve to inspire other youth across the region who are currently facing their own barriers. Leading the way for Malaysian youth to defy their barriers is Jabir Meftah who is calling on his peers to seek significance in everything that they do, so they can part of the solution the future needs.

Participants can share their stories on TikTok and include #TeamUnstoppableMY22 and tag @samsungmalaysia. Winners will be announced on 20 October 2022^[1]. The first prizewinner will take home a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G, so they can continue capturing their unstoppable moments. The second place and third place winner will take home a Galaxy Watch5 and a Galaxy Buds2Pro respectively.

A man who wears many hats, Jabir Meftah’s start in environmental activism came from an unusual situation. It was a moment when he took time to reflect and refocus before his finals, that kick started his passion in youth activism with an environmental focus. Today, the final year chemical engineering student, who also works as an actor, model and host, leads an organisation called Youth Care Malaysia, which aims to rally young people around helping others and the environment, and to train youth leaders to continue building a better future.

“It was a day before my final’s exam, and I wanted a rest from studying, so my friend suggested I participate in a #KutipSampahChallenge. We went to the car park near our university and began collecting trash but there was so much of it. We weren’t comfortable with what we were seeing and vowed to collect more trash after our finals and we continued to do so and encouraged more people to join.”

“All my life, I had been my own greatest barrier, but I knew I had to be better, more empathetic, and more compassionate. I needed to care about something bigger than myself. So I became a passionate activist for the environment and started championing vulnerable communities,” said Jabir.

His passion to spark positive change and mobilise others eventually led to an invite by Her Majesty, The Queen of Malaysia to clean-up Pantai Sepat in Kuantan, Pahang. This is where he saw how effective and empowering campaigns like this could be. Inspired, he launched Youth Care Malaysia, a youth-led organisation that empowers and mobilises youth to care for the environment and society. To date, the organisation has raised more than 4,000 volunteers in 57 projects nationwide which include disaster relief missions, workshops, seminars, tree planting programmes, clean-up, feeding homeless individuals and intellectual discourse.

Jabir is also Malaysia’s changemaker for Samsung Electronics’ regional brand campaign, #TeamUnstoppable which empowers Gen Zs and millennials of Southeast Asia to face challenges head-on and strive for greater heights. Jabir seeks to inspire his peers to be significant in what they seek to do in life, so they can be part of the solution the future will need.

“It’s sad to see many young people who do not know what they are capable of. Youth Care aims to bring them together, to empower them with the skills and experience and mobilise them to be active advocates that will make the future a better place!” said Jabir.

Besides Jabir, #TeamUnstoppable includes five other inspiring young changemakers who are passionate about gaming, food, sustainability, social good, education and fashion, and calls on youth from across the region to share their own inspiring stories and galvanize others into action. They are:

• Jason Chua from Singapore who, at the height of the pandemic, gave out thousands of free meals to hardest-hit Singaporeans, and today continues to make a difference by imparting valuable life skills and providing employment to those in need at his now expanded F&B business.
• Karla Golosinda a Filipina gaming content creator who uses her platform to raise funds for students affected by natural disasters and raise awareness, and garner support for issues surrounding animal conservation and female empowerment.
• Jerome Polin from Indonesia, who shares his love for Mathematics through engaging videos to inspire youths to reach greater heights and help support the education system in his home country.
• Chau Bui from Vietnam who is on a mission to build a more inclusive and accountable fashion industry be leveraging on her social media network to promote health, wellness and sustainability efforts.
• Neng Sarun who works to mobilise veterinary teams to champion mindful pet ownership in Thailand to improve the quality of life for animals in rural areas.

Jabir is leading the call in Malaysia for #TeamUnstoppableMY22, to encourage youth to share their unstoppable story on TikTok until 12 October 2022. Participants’ videos should include stories of the barriers they faced and how they defied them with the help of Samsung and must include #TeamUnstoppableMY22 and tag @samsungmalaysia.

Samsung will announce three winners on 20 October 2022^[1]. The first prizewinner will take home a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4 5G 128GB, so they can continue capturing their unstoppable moments. Creative, ambitious, and driven, today’s youth have shown time and again that they are indomitable in their pursuit of passion and purpose, forging new paths for themselves in fields of their choosing, while striving to make a difference with unwavering spirit and determination.

To celebrate this phenomenon, Samsung Electronics is launching its second edition of the #TeamUnstoppable regional brand campaign, daring Gen Zs and millennials of Southeast Asia to face challenges head-on and strive for greater heights. Based on the theme “Together, We are Unstoppable”, the campaign gathers a group of young changemakers who are passionate about gaming, food, sustainability, social good, education and fashion, and calls on youth from across the region to share their own inspiring stories and galvanize others into action.

This year, to better engage younger audiences, the #TeamUnstoppable movement will be centered on TikTok, where a brand-new generation of ‘unstoppable’ young individuals will share authentic stories in snackable, mobile-first episodic videos.

“Throughout the ups and downs of the past year, it has never been clearer that Gen Zs and millennials in Southeast Asia are unafraid to defy barriers and tap on technology to do good. Through #TeamUnstoppable 2022, we hope to build upon our successful run last year to inspire even more young digital natives in the region who are unafraid, undeterred and unwavering; to push their boundaries and creatively express how they will effect positive change in their communities on TikTok,” said Roy Lan, Regional Senior Brand Marketing Manager, Southeast Asia and Oceania at Samsung Electronics.

To kickstart the campaign this year, we spotlight #TeamUnstoppable 2022 in a regional film that premieres today. Here’s a quick introduction to these go-getters:

Jabir Meftah – The Leader of Youth Leaders

Despite playing many different roles onscreen, Malaysian actor and model Jabir Meftah sees himself as an activist and civic leader first. His showbiz influence is key in his mission to shed light on and make a real impact on climate change and other issues surrounding inequality, and the need for future leaders. Jabir’s non-governmental organization, YouthCare, aims to rally young people around helping others and the environment, and to train youth leaders to continue building a better future.

 Jason Chua – The Brash Chef with a Big Heart

Having to fend for himself from the age of 15, Jason Chua was determined to find success on his own terms in Singapore. At 26, he turned his passion for cooking into a career by starting his own food stall, Beng Who Cooks. At the height of the pandemic, Jason gave out thousands of free meals to hardest-hit Singaporeans, and today continues to make a difference by imparting valuable life skills and providing employment to those in need at his now expanded F&B business.

Karla Golosinda – The Gamer with a Cause

In the male-dominated field of e-sports, Filipina gaming content creator Karla Golosinda breaks the mold by using her platform to spread warmth, inspiration, and laughter to her fanbase. Harnessing gaming as a force for good, she channels funds raised via live streaming towards needy local students and those affected by natural disasters. Karla also utilizes her social channels to raise awareness and garner support for issues surrounding animal conservation and female empowerment.

Jerome Polin – The Champion of Fun and Accessible Education

When you think of Mathematics, “fun” is probably not the first word that comes to mind. This is where Jerome Polin from Indonesia seeks to shift mindsets. Through engaging videos on YouTube, he shares his love for Mathematics along with stories from his life as a student abroad and seeks to inspire other youths to reach for greater heights. Jerome’s long-standing passion for education feeds into a higher goal – to better the education system in his home country.

Chau Bui – The Unconventional Fashionista

One of the top fashion influencers in Vietnam, Chau Bui rises above conventional beauty standards by remaining unapologetically true to herself in building her unique identity, while inspiring others to do the same. Beyond bringing fashion from Vietnam into the global eye, Chau Bui is also on a mission to build a more inclusive and accountable fashion industry, leveraging her social media network to promote health, wellness and sustainability efforts while helping the less privileged.

Neng Sarun – The Champion of Mindful Pet Ownership

Having spent much of his childhood in his father’s veterinary clinic, Neng Sarun’s love for animals led him to establish Thailand’s first pet wellness center, offering a novel combination of health and grooming services for better pet care. As a vet and actor, he works tirelessly in mobilizing veterinary teams and harnessing the power of technology as well as medicine to champion mindful pet ownership across Thailand – including education to improve the quality of life for animals in rural areas.

#TeamUnstoppable shines the spotlight on the passion, energy and aspirations of an entire generation of youths who are driving positive change in their communities. Aligned with Samsung’s vision to inspire the world with innovation and create a new future, #TeamUnstoppable serves as a platform for like-minded youths to share their inspiring stories and motivate others to take action.

Starting today, a new regional campaign film will make its premiere, showcasing five inspirational young individuals who are defying all odds in pursuing their passions with great success. This includes Imran Aqil from Malaysia, Margielyn Didal from the Philippines, Jacob Julian Lau from Singapore, Sarnt Sunbeary from Thailand and Truong Mỹ Anh from Vietnam. It is also part of the #TeamUnstoppableMY campaign in Malaysia.

“Southeast Asia is home to many young, creative individuals who have constantly defied the odds to redefine current norms and create new opportunities for their generation. The individuals featured in the regional campaign film were selected for embodying the ‘do what others say you can’t spirit’. These inspiring personalities have stepped out of their comfort zones to overcome social conventions under different circumstances. They are:

• Imran Aqil from Malaysia, a content creator, actor and social volunteer who is scaling his humanitarian missions to create a meaningful difference.
• Margielyn Didal from the Philippines, who is overcoming social conventions to succeed as a professional skateboarder and has won a gold medal in the 2018 Asian Games.
• Jacob Julian Lau from Singapore, who overcame introversion and self-doubt after choosing dance as his career.
• Sarnt Sunbeary from Thailand, a content creator and entrepreneur who is undaunted by the challenges associated with managing her popular milk and tea shop business.
• Truong Mỹ Anh in Vietnam, who embraced self-love and confidence to become a recognized singer who made her debut at 18.

#TeamUnstoppableMY in Malaysia

Following the regional launch of the #TeamUnstoppable campaign, Samsung Malaysia Electronics will be releasing a local film with Imran Aqil’s very own untold story on 7 September, to further engage and inspire the local youth community to share how they have pushed the boundaries in their own ways.

The final phase of the campaign, held from 7 September to 30 September 2021 will see Imran inviting users to submit their own ‘do what you can’t’ stories via TikTok or Instagram.

One grand prize stands a chance to take home a Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3, so they can continue capturing their Unstoppable moments and sharing it with like-minded peers and community via the #TeamUnstoppableMY and #DoWhatYouCant hashtags. There are also 10 consolation prizes up for grabs.
