To Samsung, the SEAO region is more than a collection of markets; it is a strategic hub of innovation, defined by dynamic growth, cultural diversity, and rapid digital adoption. While commercial targets continued to be important last year, we were also focused on anchoring Samsung as a genuine, long-term partner in SEAO’s development.</p>

To fully unlock this potential, we have directed our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts towards cultivating and investing in our youth, nurturing the next generation of talent.</p>

<p>Our flagship Solve for Tomorrow (SFT) program empowers young people to drive meaningful change through technology and innovation. In 2025, participation grew by 40% from 2024, with a total of more than 16,900 youth across the region developing solutions to address challenges in their communities. This growth highlights young people’s readiness to apply technology in practical and meaningful ways when given the tools and opportunities.</p>

<p>Last year, the Samsung Innovation Campus (SIC) actively bridged the regional skills gap by providing advanced information and communications technology (ICT), coding, and AI education across multiple SEAO markets. <p>Samsung, in partnership with UnionBank, introduces Samsung Finance+, the company’s dedicated flexible payment option for Galaxy devices in the Philippines.</p>

<p>Samsung Finance+ is an application-based financing program by Samsung Electronics Philippines in collaboration with Union Bank of the Philippines as a finance company licensed and supervised by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP). This application allows customers to buy their desired Galaxy Products at 0% interest, no processing fees, and as low as 0% downpayment.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Fast, Flexible and Secure</strong></h3>
<p>This application provides several benefits to the customers such as access to credit, ability to upgrade devices, and a convenient application process.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Customers can apply for the loan via Samsung Finance+, available in all Samsung Experience Stores and in over 1,000 partner retailers nationwide. The application process is fully digital and takes 20-30 minutes. Once approved for the loan, they can choose the device for purchase through Samsung Finance+.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Samsung Finance+ provides more flexibility than other financing plans with 0% interest, no processing fees, and as low as 0% downpayment subject to bank approval. Approvals can also be turned around more quickly, needing only one valid government-issued ID.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Samsung also ensures better security through Samsung Knox Guard, which enables protection schemes against theft, loss, or financial default. With hardware-level security built from chip-up, Samsung devices are extra protected against fraud and theft in case customers experience loss while the device is still on loan. With Knox Guard, Samsung Finance+ can also protect one’s phone should it get lost or stolen as the system can lock the phone once theft or loss is reported.</p>

<h3><strong>Building Good Financial Habits</strong></h3>
<p>With Samsung Finance+, Samsung now has a gateway to help more Filipinos to build good financial habits, providing a structured framework for effectively managing one’s budget. Once the loan is approved, the Samsung Finance+ customer app is auto-installed in the new device which allows the user easy access to all the information they need regarding the loan – including repayment schedule, and options for payment.</p>

<p>Recognizing its commitment to provide next-level care for its customers, Samsung Philippines was recently lauded in the Philippines Best in Customer Service 2023 Survey of the Philippine Daily Inquirer.</p>

<p>Created in cooperation with Statista, the world’s leading data and business intelligence portal, the rankings were identified from the results of an independent survey of more than 11,000 customers in the Philippines who have either made purchases, used services, or gathered information about products or services in the past three years.</p>

<p>The survey was conducted on retailers and service providers from 64 categories, covering a broad- spectrum of customer experiences in traditional retail, online and service segments. For each category, the most relevant brands were included in the scope of the survey according to reputation, turnover or market share.</p>

<p>The final assessment and rankings were based on the <em>Likelihood of Recommendation</em> (50% of the final score) and three evaluation criteria (also 50% of the final score): <em>Accessibility</em>, which measures the availability of customer service in a shop or on a helpline; <em>Professional competence</em>, which measures the quality of information received and whether questions were answered correctly and in sufficient detail and <em>Quality of communication</em>, which measures whether the contact (via e-mail, telephone or face to face) was friendly and polite.</p>

<h3><strong>Care right at your doorstep</strong></h3>
<p>When it comes to customer service, Samsung understands that their customers are busier than ever. That is why Samsung has invested in customer care channels that meet their consumers where they need it – at their home or in their community.</p>

<p>Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines (SEMPHIL) bagged the Golden Achievement Award on November 27, 2022. The Golden Achievement Award, bestowed by the Philippine government, is regarded as the most prestigious award given to companies registered with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) and presented by Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).</p>

<p>Every year, the Philippine government selects and awards outstanding companies in four categories: export, employment, social contribution, and environment. The Golden Achievement Award honors the most outstanding company among the list of companies that have been elevated to the Hall of Fame in all categories.</p>

<p>Samsung Electro-Mechanics was also inducted into the Hall of Fame by receiving the recognition three times in each category leading to their win of the Golden Achievement Award this year.  To date, Samsung Electro-Mechanics has received the Outstanding in Community Projects award in 2007, 2008, and 2009; Outstanding Employer in 2006, 2010, and 2012; Outstanding Exporter in 2011, 2012 and 2013; and Outstanding Environmental Performer in 2007, 2019, 2020.  Since the inception of the Golden Achievement Award in 2012, only five companies, including Samsung Electro-Mechanics, have received this prestigious recognition.</p>

<p>In addition, SEMPHIL was also honored for leading the way in advancing social ideals and sustaining corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts through various activities like tree planting and coastline cleanup. SEMPHIL has also taken the initiative to find fresh talents among the low-income households and has provided them learning advice and scholarships in order to help them develop their skills. These promising individuals were given the chance to work for the company.</p>
<p>Since its founding in 1997, SEMPHIL has been manufacturing the MLCC (Multi-Layer Ceramic Capacitor), the flagship product, as well as other passive components such as inductors and chip resistors. Its revenue increased by $1,153 million in 2021. In order to meet the demand for IT and automotive components, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is getting ready to use its Philippine Plant (SEMPHIL) as one of its primary production facilities in the future.</p>

<p>In August 2022, Samsung Electro-Mechanics CEO Chang Duckhyun met with Secretary Alfredo Pascual of the Department of Trade and Industry to share about SEMPHIL&#8217;s main activities, innovative technology cases, and contribution to economic growth in the Philippines. Through this meeting, Chang has also requested DTI’s support for Korea&#8217;s bid to host the 2030 Busan World Expo where Samsung acts as a member of the public-private 2030 Busan World Expo bidding committee.</p>
