Our phones are our most personal space, but we use them in the least private places. On the bus, in the elevator, and wherever we’re waiting in line, our digital laundry gets aired in plain view. And as phones become more tailored to our routines and preferences, concerns about privacy are only growing.

That’s why Samsung will soon unveil a new layer of privacy to shield your phone from shoulder surfing wherever you go. You’ll have the space to check your messages or enter a password on public transit without thinking twice about who might be watching.

▲ PINs and passwords remain hidden from people nearby, even in crowded public settings.

Flexible Protection Built Over Years

Not everyone needs the same level of privacy. This new layer gives you the choice to decide what works best for you. You can customize it to raise your guard with specific apps, or when entering access details for more private areas of your phone. With multiple settings for adjusting visibility, you can limit what others can see based on the level of privacy protection you need.

▲ Customizable, app-level privacy settings help ensure only the user can see on-screen private information.

You can also choose to protect specific parts of your experience, such as notification pop-ups. It’s a tailored approach that you can fine-tune or switch off entirely, rather than a blanket one.

It took over five years of engineering, testing and refining to get here. We studied how people use their phones, what they consider private, and how security should feel in everyday life. The result is a fusion of hardware and software expertly calibrated to protect you without getting in your way.

▲ Users can control the visibility of notification pop-ups in public.

A New Standard for Mobile Privacy

This is the latest in a series of Galaxy innovations designed to keep you safe. There is no privacy without strong security. For more than a decade, Samsung Knox has established layers of protection for Galaxy devices, from dedicated security hardware like Knox Vault to ecosystem defenses such as Knox Matrix. This latest safeguard builds on that commitment to security, introducing privacy at a pixel level.

This is privacy you can see and security you can feel – and it’s coming to Galaxy very soon.

Today’s world is one of unprecedented innovation and rapidly evolving technology. It’s an era of endless possibilities, coupled with a new set of risks for security and privacy. At Samsung Electronics, we recognize that as we enter these uncharted territories, we must be prepared for potential threats that may arise. That’s why we stay deeply attuned to the ever-changing security landscape and champion a dynamic approach to enterprise security.

The cybersecurity threats of today affect everyone, from consumers to businesses. Enterprise device fleets must be resilient against attacks of all kinds — from suspicious URLs, insider employee threats and malware, to emerging risks associated with AI usage in the workplace, including prompt injection and sensitive data leaks. As a growing number of employees across industries — from corporate offices to the frontlines — use devices to access enterprise networks and resources, these threats not only present significant security risks but may also lead to a substantial financial toll on businesses.

Enterprise security incidents can arise across operations. However, the International Data Corporation (IDC) found that an overwhelming 70 percent of successful breaches originate from endpoints — the devices that connect to networks like phones, laptops and tablets. Unfortunately, in today’s security operations landscape, IT administrators have much less visibility into mobile devices compared to PCs and servers. With mobile devices now being the most common method of employee network access, this has to change. A systematic, comprehensive approach is critical to ensuring seamless mobile capabilities and uncompromising protection. At Samsung, we’re setting a new standard for mobile enterprise security by committing to a collaborative Zero Trust strategy for endpoints in partnership with market leaders.

Core Principles for Zero Trust Endpoint Security

Samsung’s legacy of innovation is built upon our deep understanding of users. We’re constantly listening to feedback from consumers and businesses, anticipating the evolution of mobile technology. This is what enables us to pioneer industry-first solutions for consumers and businesses alike. As the Head of the Global Mobile B2B Team, I’m especially proud of how we’ve led the way in critical areas that deliver value to enterprises across the board. From advancing hardware-backed device attestation and threat detection to fully embracing the security principles of Zero Trust, we are constantly striving to provide our customers with mobile devices and solutions that exceed their security requirements.

Zero Trust is a security framework that replaces implicit trust with explicit trust by continuously assessing security posture, risk and trust levels based on context. The current security solutions market is dominated by network-centric Zero Trust solutions that focus on securing access at the network edge. Unfortunately, this approach by itself neglects a critical blind spot: the endpoint. Endpoints have the largest attack surface and are the most challenging IT assets to protect against cyberattacks. In most cases, they are the most vulnerable points in an organization’s IT ecosystem.

Zero Trust principles for endpoints, when realized correctly, ensure that access requests from endpoints are handled based on context that correlates with the device’s security posture and the user’s needs, and are continuously verified in real time. Although there is no definitive list of core principles behind Zero Trust endpoint protection, the following principles are the most commonly adopted:

“Never trust, always verify” approach for devices: Devices should no longer be implicitly trusted just because they are within the network boundary. Instead, each device needs to prove its trustworthiness before being granted access.

Continuous risk assessment and enforcement: Endpoint protection must be agile and ready to adapt to constantly changing risk conditions. This means continuously evaluating context — such as location, time of access and the device’s security posture — and dynamically adjusting security policies accordingly. Suspicious activity needs to be addressed through enforcement actions such as access restrictions or complete isolation.

Restricted privileges and narrowly scoped access: Endpoints must enforce access control in real time based on context while ensuring privileges are granted dynamically with a narrow scope.

Incorporation of user identity, device posture and behavioral signals: A Zero Trust-compliant solution needs to make granular and informed trust decisions to enforce tight access controls. To enable such decisions, Zero Trust’s continuous evaluation of context integrates user identity, device posture and behavioral signals.

While the Zero Trust security strategy is growing in adoption, Samsung is fully embracing it. By doing so, we are helping to protect the most vulnerable points in an organization’s IT landscape. Risks related to endpoint security are constantly increasing as cloud-based applications, Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) programs and remote work prevail in the modern workplace environment. Samsung recognizes the critical nature of this problem and is proactively addressing it in collaboration with partners.

Innovation and Collaboration for Security at Every Level

How does this work in practice? From the hardware level and all the way to the operating system and secure interface, Zero Trust security principles are built into the architecture of Samsung Galaxy devices, enhancing protection at every layer while intuitively integrating with a business’s existing security infrastructure. Together, these practices empower enterprises to administer proper threat detection and response securely and reliably.

At Samsung, we recognize that security is a collective effort. It is only through open collaboration with partners that we can bring the most advanced solutions to our customers. In my time at Samsung, we’ve made extensive strides in bringing forth versatile, optimized and secure solutions for enterprises of all kinds.

In 2024, we integrated Samsung Knox — our defense-grade, multilayer security management platform — with Cisco Secure Access, an innovative Security Service Edge solution. This collaboration delivers a secure and flexible employee access experience, enabling organizations to verify user identity, device posture and context before granting access.

We also have a strong partnership with Microsoft, defined by a shared vision of reimagining mobile device security for business customers. The first step of this strategic plan began in 2023, when we integrated Samsung Knox with Microsoft Intune, creating the industry’s first on-device mobile hardware-backed device attestation solution that works equally well on both company and personal devices. This solution is now enabled by default in all new Android App Protection Policies, empowering organizations to bolster the security posture of all Samsung devices in their fleet. In yet another step forward in our partnership with Microsoft, Samsung has become the industry’s first mobile manufacturer to offer a direct-to-security operations center (SOC) connector. This was achieved through the integration of Knox Asset Intelligence and Microsoft Sentinel, a scalable, cloud-native security information and event management (SIEM) solution. This integration delivers unprecedented visibility into mobile security threats, providing centralized monitoring and protection across enterprise device fleets.

Working together with partners, Samsung is addressing key challenges in multiple areas — securing mobile devices, minimizing damage from potential attacks and empowering employees to work efficiently and effectively without security concerns getting in their way.

Holistic Security for Enhanced Privacy

We’re constantly innovating, refining and developing Samsung Knox solutions in order to bring our customers enhanced control, greater transparency and better protection against cyber threats.

By embodying Zero Trust as a core pillar of Samsung Knox, every measure is being taken to help secure mobile devices and data. At the same time, Samsung is breaking new ground with first-to-market solutions by constantly keeping a pulse on the ever-changing threat landscape.

As threats become increasingly complex with AI and hyperconnectivity taking center stage, security and privacy are more important now than ever before. Today’s business landscape is constantly being threatened by an increasing volume of cyberattacks that aim to exploit IT vulnerabilities, with mobile devices and other endpoints quickly becoming prime targets.

That’s why Samsung is working with market-leading companies to provide security solutions that work seamlessly with existing infrastructure, offering true end-to-end protection. These collaborative solutions are a testament to our commitment to not only adhere to industry standards but to also drive their continued development when it comes to Zero Trust endpoint security. This is just the beginning.

Led by the head of Samsung Philippines’ One Samsung B2B Vertical, Anthony Atacador, the showcase demonstrated how Samsung’s connected ecosystem — spanning from professional displays, security solutions, to SmartThings-powered automation — can transform spaces into intuitive, responsive environments that elevate comfort, convenience, and overall experience of guests and clients.

“The goal of Samsung is really to empower and help business owners through our technology. And when I say technology, it’s not only our products but the solutions that Samsung has. What’s innovative about Samsung are the solutions we created,” Mr. Atacador said.

Responsive room controls

Despite the sophistication, Samsung has designed its interfaces so clients are able to navigate controls with minimal effort. At the core of this is SmartThings, which enables centralized and user-friendly control of a room’s key functions. By simply scanning a QR code, a visitor can adjust lighting, temperature, entertainment and more.

This approach allows spaces to adapt in real time. Lights can dim gradually in the evening, air-conditioning can adjust before arrival, and entertainment systems can sync with a visitor’s device within moments.

The ease of use is essential in environments that welcome diverse guests, ensuring that comfort and convenience are accessible regardless of a visitor’s age, tech fluency, or familiarity with connected spaces.

Dynamic ambiance

Samsung’s professional displays and hospitality TVs play a major role in creating visually unified environments. With advanced calibration, crisp resolution, and customizable interfaces, these displays can shift seamlessly between welcome messages, content streaming, and branded information.

This means lobbies, corridors, and rooms can maintain consistent visual quality. Businesses can tailor messaging, present information, or enhance ambiance with curated visuals, all managed through centralized content systems.

Another forward-looking element of the studio is the demonstration of automated routines. SmartThings allows spaces to react based on time, occupancy or specific triggers.

Motion sensors can activate gentle lighting during late hours, shades or curtains can adjust automatically at sunrise, and rooms can switch to energy-saving settings when unoccupied.

Efficiency and control for operations

SmartThings and Samsung’s B2B solutions allow administrators to oversee multiple spaces from a single dashboard. This includes monitoring device status, adjusting room conditions, pushing broadcast messages, and scheduling routing automations.

Additionally, Samsung’s Knox security platform provides device-level protection across connected displays and mobile devices. In environments where visitors often use personal smartphones to interact with in-room or in-space systems, Knox ensures that data is protected and that device connections are automatically cleared after use.

Optimized energy efficiency

Samsung also eases energy management within hospitality spaces. Powered by artificial intelligence (AI) and through automated controls that respond to occupancy and time-of-day patterns, SmartThings helps reduce unnecessary consumption without compromising comfort. HVAC adjustments, lighting routines, and system-wide automations contribute to more sustainable operations.

“If I [manage] a building and I have SmartThings Pro, SmartThings Pro can study the activity inside the building. But of course, you can manually set it up,” Mr. Atacador shared.

Over time, these optimizations contribute to lower utility costs and more environmentally responsible operations—an increasingly important consideration for organizations that manage large facilities and aim to balance guest comfort with long-term sustainability commitments.

From spaces to cities

At a broader level, solutions offered by SmartThings not only can strengthen industries like hospitality but can also support the government’s long-term push toward building smarter, future-ready communities.

As government agencies and private sectors explore digitalization initiatives, connected ecosystems offer models for modernizing public facilities, boosting operational efficiency, and raising service standards across sectors.

“Samsung is very passionate in helping our country develop,” Mr. Atacador said. “Not only we’re trying to work with the government in terms of smart cities but also with businesses.”

By showcasing how intuitive automation and centralized management can improve comfort while reducing resource consumption, Samsung’s ecosystem aligns with national priorities on digital transformation.

“If our businesses are not digital, they will get challenged later on, even our country,” he emphasized. “Samsung will provide awareness and would provide the needed education for people to understand the importance of technology, specifically Samsung’s.”

As people increasingly experience connected living in their homes, their expectations carry over into the places they visit. Samsung’s preview underscored how thoughtfully designed connected environments can elevate the way people experience spaces and engage with them.

Technology is evolving at high speed, becoming more intelligent by the second. These rapid advancements have brought Galaxy AI[1] to life, unlocking new levels of productivity, creativity and communication. But as mobile AI grows more capable, it also raises new concerns about privacy and control.

Samsung is addressing both in two key ways: by designing Galaxy AI experiences with built-in safeguards that protect user data from the ground up, and by applying AI to strengthen mobile security and privacy protections. While both approaches are essential, building AI that handles data responsibly remains the most urgent priority.

Transparency and choice are the principles driving this work. That’s where Galaxy’s intuitive, easy-to-use privacy settings come in, helping you understand what data is used in AI processing, how it’s handled, and how you can control it. These protections empower you to make your own rules for your mobile experience — and to stay safe while you do.

Advanced Settings for Advanced AI

This freedom of choice comes into play for Galaxy AI experiences. With AI increasingly becoming a part of what we do, it’s only natural to want more control over how your personal data is used in relation to it. Enter Galaxy AI privacy safeguards: a set of policies and protections that go above and beyond to make sure you’re informed and protected when leveraging Galaxy AI.

One of the ways we champion user control is through our powerful suite of AI tools that can operate on-device[2], keeping your data securely in your hands. Whether you’re using communication tools like Live Translate[3], Interpreter[4], to break down language barriers, or editing tools like Audio Eraser[5], to stretch the limits of creativity, inputs are kept within the confines of your phone. These features offer a safe, responsive mobile experience that runs directly on your device, right at your fingertips — working alongside Galaxy AI’s privacy protections to give you greater visibility and control over your data.

Since launching Galaxy AI, our vision has been driven by a commitment to openness and user choice. That’s why we chose a hybrid approach, introducing a powerful combination of on-device and cloud-based AI. This ensures seamless usability and allows users to benefit from the full power of AI for even the most complex tasks. Advanced features such as Generative Edit[6], offer on-device capabilities and also tap into cloud-based AI as needed for more processing-intensive edits. With Galaxy, all AI experiences are designed with your privacy in mind — even those that utilise remote servers. No matter what feature or what settings you choose, personal data is never stored long-term or used for AI training — whether processed on-device or on the cloud. Plus, with Advanced Intelligence settings[7], managing your privacy is as simple as tapping a button. You can even choose how your personal information is processed, including the option to disable online processing for AI features.

Privacy is the foundation of Galaxy AI, and thanks to our growing list of on-device AI features alongside powerful settings options, so is user control.

Intuitive Controls for Enhanced Visibility

In addition to AI-powered features, it’s critical that selecting privacy settings be easy and intuitive, no matter which mobile experience you choose. Galaxy’s Security and Privacy dashboard enables ultimate control over your data, including who sees it and how it is used, with a fool-proof interface. You can do it all — from viewing and updating app permissions, controls and data-sharing functions, to identifying which data could be at risk through intuitive safety status icons. With Permission Usage, you can even keep track of which apps may have recently accessed your data. This level of behind-the-curtain visibility across settings is unique to Galaxy, making it easier than ever to see how all Galaxy experiences are secured and built to function according to your preferences.

Another cornerstone of Galaxy privacy settings is Auto Blocker[8], a key feature that empowers you to secure your mobile devices without sacrificing usability. Auto Blocker protects your device by checking for malware and other security threats, while blocking malicious activity. It prevents unauthorized app installations, blocks commands and updates via USB, and mitigates zero click attacks with Message Guard.

For those looking for an even stronger line of defense against today’s cyber threats, Maximum Restrictions[9], offers an additional suite of device protections. These added measures offer an extra layer of user control, giving you the choice to block 2G service and prevent data from being intercepted when connected to unsafe networks. They also prevent unintended automatic reconnection to certain Wi-Fi networks that may be less secure.

With Samsung Knox protection and privacy settings that are easy to understand, you hold the power to decide how your data is handled — whether shared or kept completely on-device. Looking ahead, Samsung will further advance AI-powered security technologies to make privacy protections smarter, more adaptive, and even more seamless. And as AI continues to evolve, Samsung remains committed to building secure experiences rooted in transparency and choice — now and in the future.

[1] Galaxy AI features are currently free of charge, with any specific plans for premium AI services to be decided in close coordination with our partners.

The potential of AI is limitless, but to truly unlock the full potential of what it can do, user inputs that power personalized experiences are critical. AI needs to understand you — your preferences and your routines — to deliver a mobile experience that feels like a natural extension of your everyday life.

Intuitive, context-aware Galaxy AI features bring these personalized experiences to life, transforming your smartphone from a tool to a smart companion that anticipates your needs and offers suggestions designed to make your life more productive, creative and connected.

To deliver a fully personalized experience, your device naturally needs access to certain data. This is what allows AI to understand you and tailor its responses in ways that are genuinely helpful and suited to your lifestyle. To ensure your personal data is safeguarded in this era of AI, we’re constantly innovating data protection on your device, so that nothing falls into the wrong hands.

Personalization Made Possible with the Personal Data Engine

Samsung Electronics’ Personal Data Engine (PDE)[1] is a key component of safely delivering these highly personal experiences. First introduced with the Galaxy S25 series, the PDE is the powerhouse behind some of Galaxy’s most life-changing AI experiences yet. It works silently behind the scenes to learn from your habits and preferences, resulting in a truly personalized, unique experience.

Whether it’s Now Brief[2] guiding you through your day with curated updates or simply finding that one perfect photo in your Gallery with natural language input, Galaxy AI makes every AI-powered action feel seamless. And because the PDE safely processes your data on-device, you can enjoy all the benefits of deeply customized AI — without compromising privacy.

Powerful Advancements with Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection

To further strengthen the security of Galaxy AI experiences, Samsung developed Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP)[3] — a powerful new layer of on-device security that protects your most sensitive data without interrupting your experience. First developed for the PDE, KEEP now also safeguards other Galaxy AI features like Smart Suggestions, Now Brief, Samsung Moments and more, running quietly in the background to ensure that each supported app is kept secure.

Think of your phone like a house. Each app has its own room — separate, but all under the same roof. Then there’s Secure Folder,[4] which works like a fully detached guesthouse with its own key, set apart from the main home. It’s great for keeping certain things extra private, especially when you want complete isolation from the rest of your device. But as AI features like the PDE start handling more sensitive tasks in real time, there’s a growing need for security that’s just as strong, yet more connected to your everyday experience.

That’s where KEEP comes in. Imagine turning part of the house into a private suite — still under the same roof, but with its own secure entrance that only you can use. It’s more private than a regular room, but not completely separate like the guesthouse. KEEP works the same way: it creates a secure, dedicated space for individual apps — like the PDE — so it can safely handle your data without sending it anywhere or getting in the way of how you use your phone.

As our mobile experiences become more intelligent, KEEP ensures your most personal data stays safe by design. Together with tools like Secure Folder, it reinforces Samsung’s multi-layered approach to data protection — giving both users and services the right type of security for different privacy needs.

With Galaxy AI becoming more personal, features like the Personal Data Engine and Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection are setting a new standard for mobile intelligence — where personalization and privacy go hand in hand. As these experiences grow smarter and more attuned to your needs, you can rest assured that your most sensitive information will stay safe on your device, exactly where it belongs.

[1] The Personal Data Engine functions when the Personal Data Intelligence menu is on. Analyzed data will be deleted once the Personal Data Intelligence menu is turned off.

[2] Now Brief feature requires a Samsung Account login. Service availability may vary by country, language, device model and apps. Some features may require a network connection.

[3] Available on Galaxy smartphones and tablets with One UI 8 or later.

[4] Secure Folder offers users a separate and protected area of their phone or tablet to store sensitive apps and data. It allows users to set up separate profiles which can duplicate your apps. Users can customize the Secure Folder app and set up their own lock type, including PIN, pattern, password and fingerprint. For enhanced security, Secure Folder users are also provided with an option to hide and encrypt the Secure Folder, which helps keep data safe from advanced cybersecurity threats. While hidden, the apps will stop working to keep your data safe. Once the Secure Folder is opened again, the encryption will be deactivated, and the apps will resume normal operation.

KEEP creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments within the device’s secure storage area, ensuring that each app can access only its own sensitive information and nothing more.

Supporting Galaxy’s Personal Data Engine (PDE),[2] KEEP helps secure a user’s deeply personal insights – such as routines and preferences – that enable features like Now Brief and Smart Gallery search. These insights stay entirely on-device, protected by KEEP and further secured by Knox Vault, Samsung’s tamper-resistant hardware security environment. The result is a seamless foundation for Galaxy AI that delivers personalized intelligence while keeping data tightly contained and under the user’s control.

KEEP’s system-level structure allows it to scale across Galaxy AI innovations. In addition to PDE, it now protects Now Brief, Smart Suggestions and other on-device features that rely on user-specific inputs – enabling more advanced AI experiences without compromising privacy. With KEEP, Samsung is redefining how mobile devices safeguard data in the background to elevate privacy from a setting to an embedded design principle.

Smarter, More Connected Threat Response with Knox Matrix

As AI becomes more integrated across the ecosystem, Samsung is advancing protections that offer not just stronger security, but greater transparency and control for users, with Knox Matrix leading the way. Through One UI 8, Samsung is evolving Knox Matrix to deliver more proactive and user-friendly protection for connected Galaxy devices. When a device is flagged for serious risk – such as system manipulation or identity forgery – it is designed to automatically sign out of the Samsung Account, cutting off access to cloud-connected services to prevent threats from spreading.[3]

Users are notified across their connected Galaxy devices and guided to the ‘Security status of your devices’ page, where they can review the issue and take action. Even devices without the latest security status updates trigger a yellow-level warning, helping users respond before vulnerabilities grow.

Together, these updates make Samsung Galaxy’s ecosystem-level protection more dynamic, intuitive and visible, empowering users to maintain trust across all their devices with more confidence and clarity.

Secure Wi-Fi Strengthened with Quantum-Resistant Encryption

In continuation of its commitment to quantum-safe security, Samsung is bringing post-quantum cryptography to Secure Wi-Fi,[4] extending the trusted approach first introduced on the Galaxy S25 series through Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP). Secure Wi-Fi is now being upgraded with a new cryptographic framework[5] designed to strengthen network protection against emerging threats, particularly those anticipated in the era of quantum computing. This enhancement secures the key exchange process at the core of encrypted connections, helping ensure robust privacy even over public networks.

Quantum computing, once fully realized, could undermine many of today’s data protection methods. By integrating post-quantum cryptography, Secure Wi-Fi is built to withstand future attacks that capture encrypted data with the intent to break it once quantum technology matures – a tactic known as “harvest now, decrypt later.” This upgrade fortifies the secure tunnel between Galaxy devices and Samsung servers, reinforcing the integrity of data transmissions in high-risk environments like public Wi-Fi.

In addition to this future-ready foundation, Secure Wi-Fi offers a suite of advanced privacy features:

Auto Protect: Automatically activates in public places like cafés, airports or hotels, securing Wi-Fi connections without requiring user action.

Enhanced Privacy Protection (EPP): Encrypts internet traffic and routes it through multiple layers, combining packet encryption and relay to anonymize device information and help prevent tracking.

Protection Activity: Provides visibility into protection history by showing which apps and networks were secured and how much data was encrypted over time.

A Trusted Platform with Built-In Safeguards

In addition to its latest innovations, Samsung continues to strengthen the core protections that underpin the Galaxy experience. These features reflect a multi-layered security approach that protects across hardware and software, while giving users greater visibility and control:

Knox Vault secures sensitive credentials such as passwords, PINs and biometrics in a physically isolated environment, helping to keep them protected even if the main operating system is compromised.

Auto Blocker helps provide defense by default, blocking unauthorized app installs, restricting command-based attacks and mitigating risks from potential zero-click threats.

Advanced Intelligence Settings gives users the option to turn off online data processing for AI features, so personal information can stay on-device, fully under their control.

Enhanced Theft Protection helps protect personal data even in high-risk situations such as robbery, using safeguards like Identity Check and Security Delay to prevent unauthorized access.

This latest set of updates reinforces Samsung’s long-standing commitment to mobile security that evolves with innovation. It strengthens on-device privacy for personalized AI with KEEP, expands transparency and user control through Knox Matrix, and introduces quantum-resistant protection to Secure Wi-Fi for a more future-ready Galaxy experience. As new security challenges emerge, Samsung remains focused on delivering safeguards that are built in, always on and ready for what’s next.

Galaxy AI is built to understand what you need before you even ask, whether that’s suggesting a change in your routine or pulling up just the right information at the right time.

This level of personalization can be incredibly helpful, but the more your phone knows, the more there is to protect. So, what’s keeping all that personal data secure?

Samsung believes That’s why every Galaxy device is protected from the chip up by a multi-layered approach, which includes on-device personalization, user-controlled cloud processing, and ecosystem-wide protection through Samsung Knox Matrix.

At the core of this system is Samsung Knox Vault, the company’s hardware-based solution for safeguarding your most sensitive information.

Secured at the Hardware Level

Most mobile devices rely solely on software to protect sensitive data. Galaxy devices go further.

is a hardware-level security solution that creates a physical barrier between your most private information and everything else. It works like a locked room inside your phone, with its own processor and memory to encrypt sensitive data, with Knox Vault securing the keys. It pairs a secure processor with dedicated memory, isolating your passwords, PINs, biometrics, as well as financial information and cryptographic keys. These are the kinds of details you don’t want anyone else to access, and Knox Vault is built to make sure they stay private. You don’t need to activate or manage it, as it’s always on, working silently in the background, keeping your data safe while you get on with your day.

This is particularly crucial in the age of AI as user concerns are expanding from traditional cybersecurity threats, like viruses and malware, to worries over leaking personal data, such as conversations with your AI assistant. And as AI becomes part of more everyday tasks, the types of data that need protection are also expanding.

For example, metadata from your most personal photos not only details the resolution and file format, but also shows the exact location where the image was taken. This personal metadata is more than just files — it’s information that is deeply connected to your daily life. And in the era of AI, these types of data used to provide personalized suggestions needs to be kept private.

Knox Vault helps mitigate these growing concerns by safely storing personal information in a secure, hardware-isolated environment designed to block both physical tampering and remote attacks, ensuring your data can’t be accessed without approval.

Personalized AI, Protected at the Core

Knox Vault not only provides protection for today’s threats, it also ensures your privacy as mobile experiences continue to evolve.

As Galaxy AI becomes more useful, it also becomes more personal, learning how you use your device and adapting to your needs. And because these highly tailored AI experiences rely on deeply personal data, Knox Vault plays a crucial role in keeping that information private and secured.

Galaxy AI ensures privacy by processing tasks directly on-device where possible, keeping data in your hands and off online servers. For example, Audio Eraser, removes background noise from videos or voice recordings without the need for any cloud-based processing — so your personal information stays private. Call Transcript[1] operates in the same way, keeping your calls organized while ensuring personal conversations stay private by remaining on-device.

Knox Vault ensures your data is protected, confidential, and secure. Building on its role in Galaxy AI as the trusted foundation for security and privacy, Knox Vault will expand across Samsung’s growing AI ecosystem as AI becomes more deeply integrated into the user experience.

Knox Vault is more than a security feature, it’s Galaxy’s promise that no matter how advanced your devices become, or how much AI evolves, your privacy is secured.

[1] Call Transcript feature requires Samsung Account login. Call recording may not be supported in some countries. Currently available on pre-installed Samsung phones and Voice Record app. Service availability may vary by language or region.

Samsung Electronics has been working on a new form of cutting-edge mobile security, starting from the Galaxy S25 series. Known as post-quantum cryptography (PQC), the technology uses advanced algorithms to future-proof against the potential risks that quantum computing poses to traditional encryption methods.

Samsung Newsroom explored the future of digital security to understand why Samsung is already taking these protective measures.

Eyes on the Horizon

Quantum computing represents one of the most transformative fields in modern technology, offering unparalleled problem-solving capabilities. By harnessing the power of quantum computers, complex challenges can be solved exponentially faster than with traditional computing — unlocking breakthroughs in numerous industries from medicine to logistics. For instance, quantum algorithms could streamline supply chains or improve punctuality in transportation systems.

However, this immense computational power comes with risks. Because quantum algorithms have the potential to break certain encryption methods used to safeguard today’s data, addressing this vulnerability is critical to ensuring data protection in the future.

While quantum computing is not expected to reach full-scale implementation immediately, early action is essential to protection against “harvest now, decrypt later” threats — where attackers collect data now to decrypt it with future quantum capabilities.

Redefining Standards of Defense

Samsung has been working on PQC to ensure encrypted data remains secure in a quantum-powered world.

The company is closely following standards recommended by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)[1] to defend against quantum computer attacks. For example, the ML-KEM (Module-Lattice-Based Key-Encapsulation Mechanism) algorithm employs lattice-based mathematics — complex multidimensional structures that make encryption keys exceptionally difficult to solve, even for quantum computers. Ideal for secure communication between connected devices, the algorithm provides robust security while optimizing performance and minimizing data exchange.

NIST’s PQC standards secure a wide range of electronic information from confidential emails to e-commerce transactions. For Samsung, they are a way to future-proof cloud data against quantum threats.

Samsung’s Strategic Approach

Committed to protecting user data as technologies such as quantum computing evolve, Samsung is introducing Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP) to Samsung Knox Matrix — the company’s industry-leading protection for connected device ecosystems.

Samsung’s EDP feature currently provides end-to-end encryption for user data when backing up, restoring or syncing personal information through Samsung Cloud.

With the integration of PQC technology to Knox Matrix, another layer of protection has been added — setting a new standard for cloud security on mobile devices. Knox Matrix’s cross-device compatibility will ensure seamless quantum-safe protection for Samsung Cloud backups and synced data across smartphones, TVs and digital appliances.

This feature is available on the new Galaxy S25 series as the first device operating on One UI 7, giving Galaxy users enhanced protection against quantum computing threats.

Samsung Leading a Secure Future

In an ever-evolving digital landscape, preparing for potential threats is not an option but a necessity. As quantum computing looms on the horizon, the need to future-proof data protection has become increasingly clear.

The Galaxy S25 series is the first in the industry to support PQC-based cloud data protection, raising the bar for data protection in the upcoming quantum computing era. Moving forward, Samsung will continue to pioneer the mobile security industry and create a future where users can enjoy a connected world with peace of mind.

Through these new scalable solutions, Knox Suite is now optimized for all types of operational use cases, empowering businesses to comprehensively and intelligently manage enterprise ecosystems.”

Scalable Solutions Enhance Device Management

With Knox Suite Plans, businesses can optimize and securely manage their Samsung Galaxy device ecosystems, enhancing IT efficiency and empowering employees to maximize productivity throughout the device lifecycle. With its presence in UEM market, Samsung was named a Major Player in the IDC MarketScape: Worldwide Unified Endpoint Management Software 2024 Vendor Assessment (doc #US51234224, April 2024). Knox Suite is trusted by customers worldwide. Now more customizable than ever, Knox Suite is available in three plans:

Knox Suite – Base Plan: Included with Samsung Galaxy device purchases at no additional cost, the Knox Suite – Base Plan is ideal for businesses seeking simple and secure set-up of managed business devices. IT administrators can add Samsung devices into their Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) solutions without the hassle of manual enrollment, and ensure devices and data are protected with government-grade security[2]. The Base Plan includes access to Knox Mobile Enrollment (KME) and Knox Platform for Enterprise (KPE), with no additional license key requirement for use.

Knox Suite – Essentials Plan: For those looking for more than just device setup, the Knox Suite – Essentials Plan transforms mobile devices into powerful and efficient assets. In addition to solutions found in the Base Plan, the Essentials Plan also features Knox Manage and Knox Remote Support – services designed to enable unified, cross-platform device management plus real-time troubleshooting support.

We pick up our mobile devices hundreds of times each day and now rely on them to such an extent that we rarely leave the house without them. They’re an extension of us, and explosive new technologies like AI and generative AI bring hugely exciting opportunities to what you can do with your device – or rather, what your device can enable you to do.

But while technology changes, your right to privacy doesn’t. New developments mean new ways of data being processed. At Samsung, we think you should have the full picture when it comes to your personal information. We believe transparency, choice and control must be at the core of the mobile experience.

In this highly digitized world, your security and privacy are more important than ever, so it’s only right that our users have full control over their devices. That’s why we focus on providing solutions that allow you to have complete controllability and total empowerment over how your data is used.

Security & Privacy Dashboard:

This belief is the cornerstone of our Security & Privacy Dashboard. The Dashboard enables you to have complete control over your data, including who sees it and how it gets used. In one simple and easy-to-use interface, you can view, create and update your app permissions, controls and data-sharing features – effectively enabling you to call the shots on your data and customize your experience, your way.

The Dashboard also allows you to see any data that may be at risk, intuitively showing you the safety status of security items.

Settings > Security and privacy

From there, you can quickly and easily change your settings to manage potential dangers at the touch of a button. Items are ordered in priority of the functions that could have the most significant impact on your online safety – such as lock screen, account security, lost device protection via Find My Mobile, app security and updates. These are instantly accessible at the top, with intuitive red, yellow or green alerts showing any problems at a glance and providing clear indicators of any security issues.

Of course, we also do the work for you. Apps can continue tracking data for months, even when they are not in use – but Galaxy devices proactively remove permissions from apps that have not been used in a while, which can then be reinstated if you choose in the Dashboard.

You can do this through Permission Manager and Permission Usage. Permission Manager easily shows you which apps can access your data – whether it’s your location, camera or microphone and in which context (for example, if it’s only when using the app). Permission Usage provides an easy way for you to see your recently used permissions – specifically, which apps have used a certain permission in the last 24 hours or seven days. And, to make things even easier, we also provide instant action prompts through the Dashboard to help make data decisions more intuitive and transparent.

It’s simple to access your Security & Privacy Dashboard. Just go to Settings and Security & Privacy, where you can review and adjust permissions as you see fit.

You can also play with features to further enhance your device’s privacy, such as the Clipboard Access toggle. Turning this setting on (by going to Settings, then Privacy and looking for the toggle “Alert when clipboard accessed”) means that any time an app pastes something from your clipboard, you’ll get a notification. No more hidden activity.

It’s never been easier to see and understand your data privacy with Galaxy. We put the control in your hands.

Find My Mobile / Samsung Find:

It’s one of life’s inevitabilities – at some point, we all misplace our phones. But with Find My Mobile and Samsung Find, you no longer need to worry about your device’s personal information getting into the wrong hands.

Once Find My Mobile is enabled, Samsung Find allows you to locate, lock and even erase your device’s data to create an access lockdown. You can find your device even if it’s not connected to a mobile network, as long as it’s turned on. And through Samsung Find, it’s not only your Galaxy phone you can hunt down – but also your Galaxy Buds, tablets, watches and other devices.

The additional options available make it easier than ever to find your devices. Users can invite family members in the Samsung Find app to view the location or activate ringing noises to help track down shared devices. To give yourself the best chance of locating lost devices with Samsung Find, you can extend the battery life by remotely turning on power saving mode.

With Galaxy, you’re empowered to stay in complete control of your device – even when it’s not physically with you.

Advanced Intelligence settings:

As an industry-leading global manufacturer, Samsung is focused on enhancing the device experience through dedicated AI features while prioritizing privacy in the era of AI. Many of our Galaxy AI features use on-device data processing which means sensitive information stays with you and you alone. For those features that do require processing in the cloud or external servers, we make sure your data is protected with strict policies.

In a world of AI-enhanced experiences, we know that not everyone wants to use cloud-based AI. For some, keeping data on-device is a priority. So, while innovation is important to us, we believe it’s just as, if not more important that we continue to empower our users with the choice over their own experience.

That choice is yours with our Advanced Intelligence settings.1 Built into our Galaxy AI-supported devices, these settings let you decide how much you allow your data to enhance AI experiences and whether you want to allow online processing for full AI functionality.

To access the settings, open Settings and select Advanced features, then Advanced Intelligence. Here, you’ll see the option to “Process data only on the device.”
