This mode can result in energy savings of up to 15% for supported refrigerators, and up to 70% for supported washers and dryers. Additionally, Away mode can be preset so that SmartThings-connected devices can be switched off when it detects no movement at home, further contributing to reduction in energy wastage.

How smart can Samsung products get for a conscious household?

When paired with SmartThings on your preferred Galaxy devices (a Galaxy S25 Ultra for starters), the Samsung Bespoke Convection Microwave Oven offers homeowners personalised recipes^[2], and can even offer cooking guidance. Since 2022, GREEN-HOUSE has been committed to shaping thought around sustainable urban living through an immersive, weekend-long event. Samsung Electronics has announced it has been recognised by Interbrand, a global brand consultancy, as the 5th-ranked global brand for the sixth year in a row. Interbrand releases its list of “Best Global Brands” each year. Rainbow Robotics was founded in 2011 by researchers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology’s (KAIST) Humanoid Robot Research Center who developed the first two-legged walking robot “Hubo” in Korea.

By combining Samsung Electronics’ AI and software technology with Rainbow Robotics’ robotics technology, the collaboration plans to accelerate the development of intelligent advanced humanoids.

Samsung will also form a synergy council with Rainbow Robotics to strengthen leadership in the advanced robot global business, with the council expected to serve as a bridge to foster the growth of both companies by developing future robot technologies and core business strategies, and identifying and assessing market demand.

With the collaboration, Samsung plans to utilize Rainbow Robotics’ collaborative robots, dual-arm mobile manipulator, and autonomous mobile robots for manufacturing and logistics automation tasks. These robots can greatly improve their work capabilities by learning and analyzing situational data and environmental variables that occur in the field through AI algorithms. Rainbow Robotics is expected to actively enter overseas markets by utilizing Samsung’s global sales infrastructure.

Establishment of Future Robotics Office

Samsung also established a Future Robotics Office reporting directly to the CEO. The office will focus on developing future robots including humanoid robots, aiming to secure competitiveness in new technologies for future robots that will advance current paradigms and transform them into a key growth engine.

Dr. Jun-Ho Oh, a founding member of Rainbow Robotics and honorary professor at KAIST, will serve as an advisor to Samsung and head of the Future Robotics Office after retiring from Rainbow Robotics. Dr. Oh will provide robotics technology and business expertise to Samsung’s future robot development from his deep experience in industry-academia collaboration.

Young Hyun Jun, Vice Chairman and Head of Device Solutions (DS) Division, was named CEO and will also become the Head of Memory Business and Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. Jinman Han was promoted to President and will become the Head of Foundry Business, while Seok Woo Nam will become Chief Technology Officer of Foundry Business, a newly-created position.

JH Han, Vice Chairman, CEO and Head of Device eXperience (DX) Division, will also lead a newly-created committee that will focus on strengthening product quality across the company.

Jinman Han was previously Executive Vice President and President of Device Solutions America, leading the Company’s semiconductor business in the U.S. Previously, he worked in design teams for DRAM and Flash memory and has also led SSD development and strategic marketing.

Seok Woo Nam, previously President and Head of FAB Engineering & Operations, is an expert in semiconductor process development and manufacturing with extensive experience in memory process technology and foundry manufacturing technology.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today was recognized by Interbrand, a global brand consultancy, as a “Global Top 5” brand for the fourth year in a row. Interbrand releases its list of “Best Global Brands” each year, and on this year’s list, it was revealed that Samsung’s brand value reached $91.4 billion and grew by 4% year-on-year.

Samsung’s brand value increased across all business areas in 2023 despite sluggish demand in the global IT industry. According to Interbrand, Samsung Electronics’ evaluation was positively influenced by the following:

• Consistent company-wide improvement of the customer experience based on the “One Samsung” strategy.
• The increased level of connectivity and enhanced gaming experiences through the company’s wide-ranging product portfolio and SmartThings.
• The company’s role as a leader in future innovative technologies such as 6G, artificial intelligence (AI), automotive, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR).
• Consistent actions to strengthen ESG leadership through eco-conscious activities across all product lines.

Late last year, Samsung Electronics established the Direct-to-Consumer (D2C) Center under the Global Marketing Office to provide an integrated online and offline experience. The company also has the CX-MDE Center — which is responsible for strengthening the multi-device experience — to increase synergy between products and improve the overall customer experience.

Partnerships were also a major factor that drove Samsung’s brand value over the past year. Based on SmartThings, which provides a unified connectivity experience, Samsung is further strengthening its open partnerships to connect not only its own products but also various third-party devices. The Board approved the appointment, which was recommended by Independent Director and Board Chairman Han-Jo Kim.

The Board cited the current uncertain global business environment and the pressing need for stronger accountability and business stability in approving the recommendation.

I have worked my entire career as an engineer, and I have seen many innovations at Samsung that have pushed the limits of what’s possible with smartphones. Our mission is, and always has been, to create technology that makes people’s lives better. Ten years ago, we set out to create a transformative technology by looking at the one thing all smartphones were synonymous with — a flat rectangular display. We asked ourselves a simple question:How can we have it all – a bigger screen and better portability?

We saw an opportunity not only to design a new shape but also to create new experiences that had never been possible with a smartphone before. Overcoming many technological hurdles, we successfully introduced the first-ever Galaxy foldable smartphone in 2019 and have changed the future of our industry ever since.

Samsung Singapore is partnering with ArtAF, an art platform on a mission to connect Singapore’s earliest artists with new generations of art lovers and young local artists to bring to life a selection of renowned Singaporean artist Goh Beng Kwan’s art works to life – in augmented reality.

“Art transcends time, and medium. We are honoured to be working with Goh Beng Kwan and team to bring to life a curated selection of his artworks with the help of technology, which we hope will surprise local art lovers, and entice new audiences to learn more about our very own local artists. The Samsung Galaxy S22 5G series features best-in-class capabilities, and we’re bringing its exceptional camera, screen and audio features to #GBK85 by allowing visitors to use the smartphone to see how Goh’s art pieces come to life digitally with the help of AR,” said Sarah Chua, Vice President of Mobile Experience, Samsung Electronics Singapore.

Breaking new grounds with technology

Besides bringing Goh’s art pieces to life with AR and Samsung Galaxy S22 5G series smartphones, Samsung is also offering an opportunity for #GBK85 visitors to win 10 NFTS from four selected artworks that have been minted for this exhibition via a contest.

Interested individuals can simply download the ArtAF app and experience Goh’s artworks at #GBK85 powered by AR, and share via an Instagram Story or post how they would enjoy his work with a Samsung Galaxy device and tag @samsungsg, @ArtAF and @gohbengkwan with #GBK85¹.
