Galaxy AI^[1] features are now available on more Samsung Galaxy devices in Singapore through a new One UI 6.1 update, engineered to further the democratisation of mobile AI.

Silicone Grip Case

The Silicone Grip Case for the Galaxy S23 series integrates a range of post-consumer recycled plastics, promoting improved resource circularity in Samsung’s design and production processes.

The inner frame is made with a material consisting of a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled plastic^[3] sourced from discarded water barrels, and the interior of the case has recycled microfiber, which is made with a minimum of 29% recycled PET plastics^[4].

Each Silicone Grip Case comes with a strap that uses fabric consisting of 86% recycled PET plastics. To create the strap material, PET bottles are melted down and repurposed to form a flexible and durable yarn.

Smart View Wallet Case

Known for its convenience, the Smart View Wallet Case for the Galaxy S23 series allows users to easily access their device’s interactive display without opening the cover. With a simple tap to the display window, Galaxy users can answer a call or play music.

But the Smart View Wallet Case is more than convenient, it is designed with eco-conscious materials. The outer cover is constructed with a material that has a minimum of 21% bio-based content^[5]. The inner frame, similarly, uses a material with a minimum of 20% post-consumer recycled plastics, while the interior of the case is made with recycled microfibers containing a minimum of 29% recycled PET plastics.

Rugged Gadget Case

The Rugged Gadget Case for the Galaxy S23 series is built to last, with a sturdy design and comfortable grip. It protects the device against bumps, drops and scratches. This heavy-duty case has been drop-tested to meet military-grade standards^[6].

The case’s enhanced protection is supported by recycled materials, demonstrating that improved durability should not come at a cost to eco-conscious material innovation. The outer frame incorporates a material containing a minimum of 37% bio-based content.

During a recent visit to Vietnam, TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics shared his thoughts on the state of the mobile industry, expressing confidence that continuous innovation and creation of unique experiences will be key in reinforcing Samsung’s leadership position.

Despite the current economic climate, global sales of the Galaxy S23 series have been highly positive. TM Roh believes that this was made possible with the coming together of several new mobile innovations developed based on consumer feedback, which sets a new standard in premium smartphone experiences. This includes the advanced camera features in the Galaxy S23 series smartphones, represented by Nightography; smooth gaming experience backed by the devices’ powerful performance; convenient, easy-to-use One UI 5.1; the use of environmentally friendly recycled materials in the Galaxy S23 series and optimization of third-party apps through open collaborations with global partners.

He reiterated that more than ever, consumers are now placing reliability on the top of their list of must-haves. TM Roh said, “Our consumers are looking for more reliable products, reliable brands, and premium high-end products that can provide a good experience.”

Noting that this user preference trend would be one for the long term, he laid out a three-pronged approach that Samsung is taking to effectively respond to challenges in the mobile market, and at the same time, pave the way for Samsung to reinforce its position as a market leader:

• Enabling New Experiences and Possibilities: Samsung is focusing its efforts on enabling consumers with new experiences and possibilities through their innovative line-up of Galaxy products by continuously creating and providing new innovations and experiences not just in hardware innovations, but also in software and AI, that only Samsung can provide.

For example, Samsung not only pioneered the folding smartphone category but also took foldables mainstream, with the product category growing in popularity globally. This focus on premium experiences is also being driven by features such as the large screen experience on the Galaxy Z Fold series, the enhanced pocketability and selfie experience on the Galaxy Z Flip series, as well as the excellent Nightography and camera capabilities of the Galaxy S23 series, made possible through innovations in AI technology.

• A Galaxy for Everyone: As smartphones are now a part of our everyday lives, there are still many consumers who have yet to own a smartphone. This is one of our biggest strengths that differentiates the Galaxy ecosystem from competitors. We will continue to build a more powerful and seamless multi-device experience, including strengthening localization efforts to optimize how technology can blend into the everyday for our users through our SmartThings platform.”

TM Roh believes that there is still much potential to innovate in the mobile market across many areas. The innovation of form factors, such as foldables, will enrich the whole ecosystem, driving the development of third-party apps and new user experiences and that continue to redefine the limits of what a mobile device can do.

He also mentioned how the partnership with Google and Qualcomm, announced at Galaxy Unpacked 2023, will explore new possibilities for extended reality (XR) applications, while the creation of new AI-powered services and content, or intelligent in-vehicle experiences and even smarter home appliances, will also contribute towards smartphone innovation in the years to come.

In addition, influencers, journalists, and Samsung Members Stars were invited to try out the ultimate camera capabilities of the Galaxy S23 series through exclusive tours at scenic night locations, and a first-hand experience of the sensational and interactive art installations within 29Rooms, located beside the Galaxy Experience Space.

Thailand – The Moon Project

In Thailand, Samsung brought the “Super Full Moon” up close to the masses, touring a full moon art exhibit around landmarks in Bangkok. This gigantic moon spotlights the 100X Space Zoom on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, which includes 10x Optical Zoom and 10x digital zoom with AI Super Resolution technology^[1], while encouraging all to tune into the global Unpacked livestream on 2 January!

Vietnam – Nightography Zones

Throughout the month of February, Samsung organized a series of activations at shopping malls across Vietnam. Influencers and members of the public were invited to try the Nightography capabilities of the new Galaxy S23 series smartphones in photo booths featuring immersive and eye-catching backdrops and given photo printouts as souvenirs after.

The Philippines – Epic House

Over in the Philippines, Samsung hosted 320 attendees at its launch event “Epic House”, held at The Fifth at Rockwell in Makati, to experience the Galaxy S23 series up close with themed zones on Nightography, Productivity, Gaming, Self-expression, and Sustainability. Top-tier influencers and media, such as Liza Soberano, were invited to take night selfies, videos, and portraits with the Galaxy S23 series and to check out the “Flotilla”, an artwork installation made from recycled materials by local renowned artist, Leeroy New.

Myanmar – You Only Live Epic

At the “You Only Live Epic” event at Lotte Hotel in Yangon, over 500 attendees got in on the action around the new Galaxy S23 series. Putting up a song and dance performance to music inspired from the classic Over the Horizon ringtone, Team Galaxy members showcased the features of the latest flagship devices in an entertaining musical show. Some of them also gave exclusive deep dives into their content creation and gaming journeys with the Galaxy S23 Ultra, building up the excitement for an epic time of hands-on experiences with Samsung’s newest smartphones!

Indonesia – Epic Nightography, Epic Victory, Epic Inspirations

On February 23, over 180 journalists, tech reviewers, Samsung Members and Team Galaxy were treated to an experiential journey of content creation at the Ritz Carlton Pacific Place in Jakarta. From taking pictures in a sea-themed Nightography room to enjoying gaming victories on the Galaxy S23 Ultra, attendees were able to interact with the latest devices in new ways.

Select journalists were also invited to a concert by #TeamGalaxy member, Raisa, to experience the Galaxy S23 Ultra 5G’s Nightography capabilities live. Local photographer, Anton Suseno, was also invited to demonstrate to media how features on the S23 Ultra, such as improved Nightography and 100X Space Zoom, can help one capture epic and detailed photographs in low-light concert conditions.

Malaysia – Samsung Galaxy Space

Samsung fans in Malaysia joined in the fun through an experiential adventure at the Samsung Galaxy Space. Participants had the opportunity to try out the Galaxy S23 Ultra to capture trendy low-light shots against an LED-lit Alley and street night scene, as well as an interactive ball pit and splash art space. Fans were also treated to creative workshops held at the Galaxy Space, such as daifuku-making and coaster tufting, and a few lucky ones even had the chance to meet local cosplay sensation, Hakkan, on March 4.

Cambodia – Trade Show

The excitement continued in Cambodia, where over 400 people gathered at Naga World Hotel, Phnom Penh, to celebrate the launch of the Galaxy S23 series on February 11. Participants were treated to an opening K-pop dance performance and had the opportunity to learn more about the latest flagship smartphones through a product sharing, and hands-on experiences with the devices. Samsung fans were also able to try out the new Galaxy S23 series at the special activation at Aeon Mall 3, Phnom Penh.

During a recent visit to Malaysia, TM Roh, President, and Head of Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) Business, revealed that the response to the new Galaxy S23 Series in Southeast Asia has been highly positive.

“After unveiling the Galaxy S23 series, we have received a very positive market response in this region. Compared to the Galaxy S22 series, demand for pre-orders has increased, and interest in the Galaxy S23 Ultra has exceeded expectations,” said TM Roh.

He also noted that a majority of consumers in Southeast Asia have selected Galaxy S23 models with higher storage capacities for their pre-orders.

Highlighting the significant market opportunity in Southeast Asia, he said, “Many consumers in this dynamic region, especially the younger demographic, have high interest in advanced and new mobile experiences. In the Galaxy S23 series, we have brought together innovative experiences in terms of camera, gaming and connectedness in a single smartphone. We have also used a wider variety of recycled materials in more components than in any other Samsung Galaxy smartphone, raising the bar for premium technology so consumers can enjoy the best experience while contributing to a healthier planet.”

Notwithstanding current challenges in the macro-economic climate, TM Roh stated that Samsung continues to pave the path for future growth through its full line-up of enhanced products, including the S series, Z series and A series, to offer a holistic premium experience for consumers.

He emphasized Samsung’s strength in providing a connected experience through an ecosystem of Galaxy devices such as smartphones, wearables, and tablets, as well as Samsung’s TV and home appliances. “The strength and resilience of the premium categories across our MX business will help us create and prepare for the future,” he said.

The Space, which will be open till 26 March 2023, has served as a destination for those who want to experience the advanced nightography feature and powerful performance for mobile games. Samsung Electronics Singapore today announced One UI 5.1, which was newly unveiled with the Galaxy S23 series at Galaxy Unpacked 2023, will begin to roll out worldwide for other Galaxy devices starting with the Galaxy S22 series^[1], Z Fold4, Z Flip4, S21 series^[2], and S20 series^[3]. With One UI 5.1, Galaxy devices will deliver a more visually appealing interface with new features that enable greater creativity and personalization for a more convenient experience overall.

Professional-Quality Camera and More Engaging Gallery

One UI 5.1 expands upon the recently upgraded camera features announced with the Galaxy S23 series. Galaxy users now have greater flexibility to create professional quality photos with Expert RAW^[4] features now available directly as part of the Galaxy Camera app. Simply select “More” while taking a photo to capture high-quality shots in their raw format. Additionally, enhanced AI-based Photo Remaster automatically improves deteriorated details of images by improving brightness, fine-tuning details and making color corrections even in backlit scenes. It also removes unwanted shadows and reflections for a picture-perfect photo.^[5]

New navigation improvements also make it easier than ever to find photos within the Gallery app and create shared family albums^[6]. Simply tap a person’s face in a photo to conduct a search for more images while the Gallery app searches for faces of loved ones to recommend for family photo albums.

A Unique Mobile Experience Personalized for Every User

Samsung has long been focused on giving Galaxy users greater control over their devices by customizing various user interface aspects. One UI 5.1 delivers several exciting new features that allow people to fine-tune nearly every aspect of the mobile experience – from appearance, to communications, actions, and more. Samsung introduced new features that can understand how devices are used and make recommendations accordingly. For example, the new dynamic weather widget analyzes current conditions and creates a custom design that reflects the climate. Modes and Routines have expanded to enable custom wallpapers, ringtones, touch sensitivity and fonts that can personalize specific activities for even more convenience. One UI 5.1 also improves the Smart suggestions widget^[7] by adding the ability to recommend Spotify^[8] tracks and playlists based on users’ activities, such as music for road trips or relaxing.

One UI 5.1 software update starts to roll out for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series¹, Z Fold4, Z Flip4, S21 series², and S20 series³. Software updates for additional Galaxy devices, including the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 will be available in the coming weeks.

The mystery behind Galaxy Unpacked 2023’s invitation has finally been revealed. The three light bulbs featured prominently on the invitation represent the three lenses of the new and improved camera on the Galaxy S23 series. The rear camera design with linear lenses can be found on the new Galaxy S23 series, including S23, S23+ and S23 Ultra.

Premium is the perfect way to summarize the experience offered by cameras in the new Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy S23 series comes equipped with a 10MP Telephoto Camera and the 12MP Ultra-Wide Camera – so every shot comes out picture-perfect. Meanwhile, the Wide Cameras on S23 and S23+ have 50MP, while the S23 Ultra offers a 200MP ultra-high resolution. You can take a clear picture using the Wide Camera with sharp lines and vivid colors, even when tightly zooming in. Also, an improved 12MP front camera for all three models enables users to enjoy a bright and clear selfie experience.

At first glance, it isn’t easy to see how and where the Galaxy S23 series incorporates eco-conscious materials. However, the Galaxy S23 series was made with more recycled materials than ever, furthering Samsung’s inspiring vision for sustainability.

The latest Galaxy S23 series is made from recycled aluminum, glass and PET, in addition to repurposed ocean-bound plastic. What’s more, with a 100% recycled paper package box and paper-based materials used for front and back protectors, the Galaxy S23 series is eco-conscious from the inside out. In total, the number of parts using recycled materials in the lineup increased to 12.

The Galaxy Experience Space opened at the same time as this year’s Galaxy Unpacked and was packed with event visitors who had an overwhelmingly epic response.
