Earlier this year, the Galaxy S22 series introduced the pro-grade smartphone camera with advanced Nightography features. Now, that camera just got even better. With an updated version of the Expert RAW app and a brand new app called Camera Assistant[1], you’ll be able to capture professional-looking shots.

Capture the Galaxy With Astrophoto in Expert RAW

The Expert RAW elevates the S22’s already robust night photography capabilities with a powerful Astrophoto feature. This brand-new feature lets star gazers and outdoor enthusiasts take clear and beautiful photos of constellations and dark sky activity.

Simply turn on the Sky guide to pinpoint the location of constellations, solar systems, groups of stars and nebula. Your camera will use advanced AI segmentation technology and multi-frame processing based on the movements of a celestial body to snap photos over a set time period. As a result, you’ll capture stunning shots of stars that look like they were taken with top-grade professional equipment.

If you love to explore your artistic side, you can take advantage of the Multiple exposures feature to shoot several images at once and then use Overlay modes to combine them into one standout shot. You can also unleash your creativity and experiment with superimposing several images on top of each other to create incredible abstract shots.

To access the beta version of Astrophoto and Multiple exposures, go to the Special Photo options in the Settings menu of Expert RAW.

Camera Assistant App Lets You Take Photos on Your Own Terms

Every avid photographer has their own shooting style, so it’s vital to have a camera that gives you the creative reins. With the new Camera Assistant app, you can pick and choose which automated features you want to use for a fully customized shooting experience.

You can download the app from either Galaxy Store or the Good Lock app. Once the app is installed, you can launch the feature by clicking the app icon, navigating to the Good Lock app or accessing the Camera Assistant menu under Camera Settings in your native camera app.

The Camera Assistant app gives you the option to turn certain features on or off, including Auto lens switching, Auto HDR and Faster shutter. You also have more options when, for example, selecting the number of pictures you want to take after the timer goes off.

The Camera Assistant app allows you to enjoy the following key features:[2]

• Auto HDR: If you want to get atmospheric pictures without HDR effect, you can now simply turn it off.

• Soften pictures: You can turn on this feature to smooth out the sharp edges and textures of your photos.

• Auto lens switching: Now you can turn off the Auto lens switching feature, which automatically switches camera lenses in dark environments or as you move closer to the object you are shooting. For instance, if you want to keep using the telephoto lens instead of the wide lens to take a picture of the object closer to you, you can simply turn it off in the menu.

• Video recording in Photo mode: You can now turn off this feature, which allows you to take a video clip by long-pressing the button in Photo mode, preventing you from accidentally recording a video.

• Number of pictures after timer: You could already automatically snap several photos in quick succession after the timer count. Now, you can also choose how many photos are taken (1, 3, 5 or 7 photos).

• Faster shutter: This mode allows you to take up to seven pictures in a second. This is very useful when taking pictures of moving objects.

• Camera Timeout: You can select how long the Camera app (preview screen) is turned on continuously for 1, 2, 5 or 10 minutes.
• Clean preview on HDMI displays: Show the camera preview without any menus and buttons on HDMI-connected displays.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today launched two new series of The Wall – Samsung’s cutting-edge Micro LED displays – in the Southeast Asia and Oceania (SEAO) region at the inaugural Samsung Display Tech Summit 2022.

Held in Bangkok, Thailand, the Summit hosted some 230 enterprise customers, tech enthusiasts and pro audio-visual partners from across the region over two days to share the latest insights and first-hand experiences on Samsung’s next-generation commercial displays and solutions.

“We are in the midst of a hyper-scale shift towards hybrid interactions, where everyone is expected to be seamlessly connected – be it at office desks, meeting rooms, classrooms, cafes or in the home office,” said Alex Hong, Head of Asia Sales & Marketing Group, Display Solutions, Samsung Electronics. “Organizations today have an opportunity to reimagine the future of productivity and collaboration that combines physical, digital and virtual worlds. I am excited about the role of display technologies in helping organizations to reconnect with its stakeholders in an ever-developing hybrid world.”

Creating Immersive Customer Experiences with The Wall

Perched at the pinnacle of display technology, Micro LED technology offers immersive viewing experiences in a high-resolution and large screen format, creating premium customer engagements for brands.

In 2018, Samsung, a pioneer in Micro LED displays, launched The Wall, which was then the world’s first consumer modular Micro LED 146-inch display. Since its launch, The Wall has been deployed to provide customer premium experiences globally, including in this region. In Bangkok, The Wall enables The Forestias by MQDC¹ , Thailand’s biggest property development project, to present a one-of-a-kind 360-degree cinematic experience to inspire its customers.

“Micro LED represents the future of display innovation. Samsung is leading the way in Micro LED adoption in Southeast Asia and Oceania with our flagship The Wall series. Expanding The Wall lineup with the launch of the All-in-One model, we are offering even more immersive experiences and innovation in installation, which significantly simplifies the process akin to installing consumer TVs,” said Leslie Goh, Head of Regional Display Solutions, Southeast Asia & Oceania, Samsung Electronics.

Launched in the SEAO region at the Summit, The Wall All-in-One, also called the IAB Series, brings the ease of Micro LED installation to the next level. The IAB Series requires only two hours for two people to install as it comes with a pre-adjusted seam and pre-assembled frame kit, which includes an embedded media play S-box. The Wall All-in-One has a display thinness of just 49mm and is available in three models: 4K 146-inch, 2K 146-inch and 2K 110-inch.

Also unveiled at the Summit is The Wall IWB Series, which is available in 0.63 and 0.94 pixel pitches. At 0.63 pixel pitch, this model is the slimmest ever pixel pitch in The Wall lineup, delivering Samsung’s most detailed picture and dynamic range expansion with the screen’s 120Hz frame rate, HDR10/10+ and LED HDR. The Wall IWB Series also provides a variety of screen sizes, accommodating 4K movies for 110-inch and up to incredible 8K quality for 220-inch.

All models in The Wall lineup feature Black Seal technology, enabling purer black levels with enhanced depth and details; Ultra Chroma technology, where narrower wavelengths produce RGB colors two times purer² and more accurate than conventional LEDs; 20bit processing to present extraordinary contrast ratio and smooth, natural tonal gradients; and Micro AI Processor to enhance image contrast while removing noise instantly.

The Wall also features Multi View, which enables simultaneous playback of content from up to 4 sources on one screen without the need for a video splitter.

Visualizing Productivity and Collaboration in the Hybrid World

In addition to launching the new 2022 models of The Wall, Samsung also showcased its latest display solutions at the Summit that are relevant to new modes of work, study and play in the hybrid era. These include:

• New World of Learning and Meeting: Classrooms and meeting spaces in the hybrid world require display solutions that are seamlessly connected, easy to use, immersive while allowing multiple users to collaborate at the same time. The new 2022 Samsung Flip Pro, available in 55-inch, 65-inch, 75-inch and 85-inch models, is perfect for students and professionals to enable high-quality collaboration with real-world writing and drawing experiences with pen and brush modes, integrated video call apps, multiple connectivity and wireless screen sharing.

• New World of Content Creation: The new Samsung ViewFinity S8, a high-resolution monitor for content creators, is available in consumer popular sizes of 27-inch and 32-inch for creating impactful content such as graphic design or detailed financial charts in the office or at home. Its pro-grade UHD resolution carries a wide color gamut up to 98% of DCI-PS and VESA DisplayHDR³ for optimal range, accuracy and nuance. Notably, the ViewFinity S8 received ‘PANTONE Validated’⁴ recognition for ability to accurate reproduction of more than 2,000 colors and newly added 110 skin tone shades from PANTONE⁵ .

• New World of Gaming Experiences: Odyssey Ark is the world’s first 55-inch 1000R curved gaming monitor. This next-generational 4K gaming display features a 165Hz refresh rate, 1ms response time and a Cockpit mode to create a whole new immersive and personal gaming theatre for competitive and casual gamers alike. This ultimate gaming monitor also comes with the Ark Dial, which is a solar-powered controller built to give the player quick access to screen functions such as Flex Move Screen, Multi View and Quick Settings.

Sustainability by Design

At the Summit, Samsung reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability by designing and building display solutions that can reduce carbon footprint, as well as contribute to resource circulation.

Its new 2022 display solutions have all received ENERGY STAR and EPEAT energy efficiency certifications. Certified by Carbon Trust, Samsung has incorporated eco-packaging in its products, with recycled materials used in all display solutions since 2021. Samsung has also developed and applied a new material made from recycled ocean-bound plastics to manufacture the ViewFinity S8. This has helped to reduce marine waste as well as carbon footprint.

Creating new customer journeys

The past two years have also spurred us to rethink how we can serve our customers better, while making our devices and services more accessible. COVID-19 has accelerated e-commerce growth, making online shopping a necessity. Meanwhile, the increasingly global outlook and entrenched social sharing habits of consumers have spurred our foray into new brand and retail experiences.

To that end, we have doubled down on efforts to expand and improve our retail channels and experiences. Today, our devices can be experienced and purchased directly from Samsung online stores, through online shopping partners, and even live commerce channels.

We have also invested in new and immersive ways for customers to experience our products online and offline. For example, we have launched augmented reality capabilities to better imagine how our home appliances can fit into homes. This will provide consumers the confidence to purchase our products online and help home owners who have visited our retail showrooms with space planning.

Empowering our younger generation

Recognizing the importance of youth in the Southeast Asia & Oceania (SEAO), which is home to more than half of the world’s young people¹, we have furthered our efforts in understanding and catering to their values, aspirations and needs. Being digital natives who grew up with the internet, these young people are optimizing connected devices and driving online services to shape the digital economy, both as consumers and innovators.

As a champion of innovation, we want to do more in empowering the next generation through our technologies and initiatives. To achieve this, we are running several programs to provide the necessary tools that help to optimize opportunities for youths, and tap into their collective energies as well as insights to shape our products and services.

For example, our team of Future Generation Lab members, consisting of our young employees, actively develop new enticing marketing content and collaborations to better engage with millennial and Gen Z consumers. We also run the Samsung Innovation Campus, which provides youth with training in information and communications technology skills and soft skills, as well as Solve for Tomorrow, a competition that encourages students to create tangible solutions that can solve societal issues – reaching more than 80,000 students in SEAO in 2021.
