Samsung’s Eye Comfort mode balances light exposure and color temperature and adjusts screen settings to provide an optimal viewing experience for consumers

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its 2023 Neo QLED[1] and Lifestyle TV[2] lineups received the ‘Circadian Rhythm Display’ certification from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a leading electrical engineering certification institute in Germany. The certification underscores Samsung’s commitment to developing technology and products designed with consumers top of mind.

▲ (From left) Seokwoo Yong, EVP and Deputy Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics and Sven Ohrke(Öhrke), Management of Marketing and Sales at VDE Institute.

This certification recognizes that Samsung TV’s Eye Comfort mode provides an optimal viewing experience for consumers spending more time indoors by automatically balancing light exposure and color temperature to mimic natural outdoor light.

The circadian rhythm has a cycle of inhibiting melatonin secretion for dynamic activities during the day, while activating its release for a comfortable sleep at night. Melatonin is a hormone known to help you sleep well.

VDE’s certification validates the benefits of Eye Comfort mode on users’ circadian rhythm by measuring circadian stimulus at different illuminance levels and assessing the impact on melatonin suppression. The certification process complies with the Circadian Stimulus method based on the research results of the Lighting Research Center in the U.S.

This is one of many verifications Samsung TVs have received representing ongoing efforts to put users and their experience front and center of product design. Previously, Samsung TVs have received ‘Eye Care’ certification from VDE and ‘Glare-Free’ validation from UL, along with ‘Pantone Validated’ and ‘SkinTone Validated’ certifications from Pantone, both signifying that certified Samsung screens satisfy the organization’s color accuracy standards.

The past year has been a reminder of the value that TVs bring to our homes and lifestyles. Once regarded as a device only for watching TV and playing video games, they now double up as conference rooms, fitness hubs, and even a space for virtual socialising as we look towards a new normal in 2021 and beyond.

Perhaps now is the best time for you to consider investing in a new TV for your living spaces, with the launch of Samsung’s latest TV innovations. Here’s a guide to picking the right TV that matches the demands of homes and lifestyles, today and tomorrow:

For those looking for the ultimate all-in-one entertainment hub: Neo QLED

If you have been eyeing a new 8K or 4K TV, let this be the year you seriously consider plunging into the immersive world of next-generation entertainment, with Samsung’s latest display technology – Neo QLED.

Underpinning its genius are three cutting-edge technologies. Firstly, Quantum Mini LEDs help to deliver crisper images than conventional LED technologies. Secondly, the Quantum Matrix Technology delivers enhanced light control, meaning the most intricate of details can now be seen in both dark and bright scenes – so you can appreciate the subtleties in your favourite action movie!

Finally, the state-of-the-art Neo Quantum Processor harnesses cutting-edge artificial intelligence to enable Neural Network Upscaling, which will completely overhaul the picture quality of older movies and TV shows.

For gamers, the Neo QLED TV offers 4K gaming at a silky-smooth 120 frames per second, a low m/s response time, auto low latency mode and a variable refresh rate, helping you unlock and maximise performance. In fact, Neo QLED is the first TV to receive certification for Gaming TV Performance from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE), a well-regarded electrical engineering certification institute in Germany.

Alongside cutting-edge technologies, user health continues to be a priority – and testament to this is the first-of-its-kind ‘Eye Care’ certification awarded to the Neo QLED TV, from the VDE.

For art connoisseurs looking to elevate room aesthetics with a statement piece: The Frame

Do you miss visiting art museums and exhibitions across the world? What if there was a TV that can display an ever-evolving collection of renowned artworks?

Coming in sizes from 43” to 75”, The Frame can be used as a blank canvas for virtual artwork. In Art Mode, The Frame can bring over 1,400 pieces of virtual artworks from leading art houses, content creators and world-class museums, straight to your living room. Imagine being inspired by an impressionist masterpiece from Vincent Van Gogh today, and then moving photography from Steve McCurry the next day!

Additionally, The Frame’s Brightness Sensor can intelligently adjust screen brightness and colour based on the lighting conditions in your house, making sure of the colour fidelity of the artwork on display.

With attachable Modern bezel options in three colour options, White, Teak, Brown, and the new Beveled Type bezel design in Brick Red – there’s an option to match the aesthetic of any type of room. Additionally, the 2021’s version of Frame is only about half as thick compared to previous iterations at a mere 24.9mm, mirroring the depth of a traditional picture frame.

But The Frame is not only used to display virtual artworks. You can turn it into a full-functioning TV for watching your favourite shows, playing video games, conference calls and even a virtual workout session right in your living room.

For Social Media enthusiasts looking to supercharge their mobile screens: The Sero
