On 25 February, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy S26 Series at Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in San Francisco.

Marking the third-generation of Samsung’s Galaxy AI phone, the Galaxy S26 Series combines the most powerful performance in Galaxy S Series history with the most intuitive AI experience to date.

Samsung Newsroom got an early hands-on look at the Galaxy S26 Series during Galaxy Unpacked 2026.

▲ The Galaxy S26 Series (from left) Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26

Design: Sleeker and Lighter Than Ever

The Galaxy S26 Series makes a strong first impression with its refined, modern aesthetic, featuring a rounded curvature and cohesive colour palette that create a unified design identity across the line-up.

▲ The Galaxy S26 Series showcases a unified look. (From left) Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26+ and Galaxy S26

The slimmer, lighter build is equally notable. Galaxy S26 Ultra is 0.3 mm thinner than its predecessor and weighs 214 grams. Its slimmer profile enhances portability while maintaining a secure, comfortable grip.

▲ The Galaxy S26 Series comes in Cobalt Violet, Black, Sky Blue and White.

Display: Privacy From Every Angle

Debuting on Galaxy S26 Ultra, Privacy Display limits side-angle viewing without the need for a separate screen protector. The display remains clear from the front while restricting visibility from the sides to help shield on-screen content from nearby onlookers.

▲ Privacy Display is the result of more than five years of research and development, blocking views from the sides, above and below.

Users can also assign the Privacy Display to the side button’s double-press function for greater convenience. Even when viewed from the side, content stays concealed — making it especially useful on crowded public transportation or in elevators.

▲ Users can adjust the level of privacy protection in the settings and apply it selectively when entering a PIN, pattern or password, or when notification pop-ups appear.

Galaxy AI: Intuitive AI for Everyone

Galaxy AI stands out on the Galaxy S26 Series, combining enhanced contextual awareness with proactive suggestions to simplify everyday tasks.

The new Now Nudge feature reduces app switching by surfacing relevant information in context. When a friend asks about evening plans on messaging apps, Galaxy AI checks the calendar, detects conflicts and displays a tailored “Nudge” pop-up.

▲ Now Nudge presents timely information through context-aware icons.

A fan favourite since its debut on the Galaxy S24 Series, Circle to Search has evolved to support multi-element searches. Circling a celebrity’s outfit, for example, generates curated pieces to recreate the look.

The Galaxy S26 Series further expands its AI ecosystem with Bixby, Gemini and Perplexity. For example, users can use natural language commands to adjust settings, allowing them to effortlessly control their device even without knowing exact setting names or specific commands. Saying “My eyes feel tired,” for instance, prompts Bixby to suggest activating Eye comfort shield — eliminating the need to navigate complex menus. Together, these agents understand user intent and context to streamline daily routines, reducing steps and delivering a more seamless, efficient mobile experience.

▲ Bixby interprets user intent and instantly recommends relevant settings.

Camera: Pro-Level Capture, Powered by AI

The Galaxy S26 Series marks another leap in mobile photography. Powered by advanced AI, the device enables effortless capture and editing of high-quality content — no expertise required.

Galaxy S26 Ultra features a 200-megapixel (MP) wide-angle camera and a 50 MP telephoto camera with 5x optical zoom and 10x optical-quality zoom, complemented by a wider aperture for enhanced low-light clarity. With upgraded Nightography, even a recreated San Francisco nightscape inside the exhibition hall appeared vivid and detailed despite dim surroundings. The AI ISP (Image Signal Processor), previously used in the rear camera, also extends to the front camera, capturing fine details — from individual hair strands to eyebrows — while preserving natural skin tones.

▲ Enhanced Nightography ensures clear filming even in low-light settings. A view of the exhibition space (top) and a video taken with Galaxy S26 Ultra. (bottom).

Beyond capture, the Galaxy S26 Series expands creative possibilities. Powered by Galaxy AI, it provides an intuitive environment that turns ideas into finished results in moments.

The upgraded Photo Assist goes further — removing unwanted objects and naturally adding new elements. When prompted to restore a cake with a bite taken out, AI seamlessly reconstructs it as if untouched. The feature can also transform day into night or adjust wardrobe details to match the mood, enabling faster, more effortless editing.

▲ Photo Assist restores images using AI-powered editing.

With Creative Studio, edited photos can be turned into polished content. Users can simply type a prompt — such as “Please draw me a dog” — to generate a context-based sticker set, ready for use in messages or when editing photos. The feature also supports invitations, profile cards and wallpapers, expanding everyday creative possibilities in the future.

▲ Users can create images from simple text prompts and turn them into custom stickers with Creative Studio.

Starting with the Galaxy S24 Series, the Galaxy S Series has ushered in a new era of AI phones. With the Galaxy S26 Series, Samsung introduces its third-generation AI phone — delivering personalised experiences that go beyond intent recognition. Featuring the most powerful performance and the most intuitive Galaxy AI to date, the Galaxy S26 Series opens a new chapter in mobile innovation.

As the film began, a quiet gasp of awe rippled through the audience. When the screen illuminated the dark theater, every frame came to life with an unprecedented level of clarity. The characters’ subtle expressions were vividly defined, while even the dimmest scenes unveiled striking contrasts and layers of intricate details.

Samsung Onyx is the world’s first cinema LED display, introduced by Samsung Electronics in 2017. The first theater equipped with Samsung Onyx opened that same year at Lotte Cinema World Tower in Seoul, Korea, followed by five additional Lotte Cinema locations[1] around the country.

Now, in October 2025, the latest evolution of Samsung Onyx[2] — the company’s first major update to the technology in eight years — makes its Korean debut at Lotte Cinema Sillim’s Gwang-eum LED theater, the cinema brand’s seventh LED venue.

So why is Lotte Cinema expanding its lineup of cinema LED theaters and moving away from traditional projectors? Samsung Newsroom visited the new Kwang-eum LED theater to experience the difference firsthand and hear what moviegoers and theater representatives had to say.

Lotte Cinema Sillim’s Kwang-eum LED theater, where Samsung’s latest Onyx technology made its Korean debut

A Rich Interplay Between Contrast and Colour

At Lotte Cinema Sillim’s Kwang-eum LED theater, a Samsung Onyx trailer plays before each movie begins.

The difference was clear the moment the screen lit up. As fine beams of light gradually filled the pitch-black display, Samsung Onyx delivered breathtaking contrast and deep blacks, while the interplay of light and colour revealed an exceptional range of hues that almost felt tangible.

The Samsung Onyx display delivers 4K resolution with 100% DCI-P3 colour coverage, reproducing every hue and texture just as film creators intended — without distortion.

Unlike conventional projector systems, Samsung Onyx generates its own light through LEDs, producing perfectly defined blacks and whites along with an exceptionally rich colour palette. Its outstanding contrast ratio and deep blacks ensure uniform brightness across the entire screen without light bleed, allowing even the darkest scenes to maintain their texture and depth.

The Samsung Onyx screen delivers brilliant HDR visuals with peak brightness levels of 300 nits (87.6fL), true black levels and precise colour accuracy.

“Even during the brightest and darkest scenes, my eyes didn’t feel strained,” shared moviegoer Jeonghyeon Yoon after watching a popular animated film at the theater. “The frames flowed so smoothly that it made watching the movie even more enjoyable.”

The vivid colour and contrast of the Samsung Onyx screen appeal not only to audiences but also to animation filmmakers. “On the Onyx, these little details were perfectly visible —details which give a lot to the atmosphere, to the peaceful tone of the scene,” said Matīss Kaža, producer of the dialogue-free animated film “Flow” — which won a Golden Globe® Award for Best Motion Picture — Animated, an Academy Award® for Best Animated Feature. “Cinema is all about detailing in the visual storytelling, and this comes through on Onyx very well.”

In addition, Pixar Animation Studios has collaborated with Samsung to master its animated film such as “Elemental,” “Inside Out 2,” and “Elio” making it available in 4K theatrical HDR format compatible with Samsung Onyx.

(From left) Jinha Jeong and Yongseop Yoon of Lotte Cultureworks note that Samsung’s ongoing technological innovation and reliable product quality have enabled the delivery of a consistently premium cinema experience.

“Samsung Onyx enables sophisticated colour expression and reproduces true blacks, earning highly positive feedback from audiences,” said Jinha Jeong, Senior Manager at the Operations Innovation Team at Lotte Cultureworks. “Many animation fans now say that certain movies must be watched in Onyx LED theaters. With such strong audience satisfaction, LED theaters have now established themselves as one of Lotte Cinema’s signature screening formats.”

Mega-Sized Screens That Transform the Atmosphere

The evolution of Samsung Onyx goes beyond picture quality. The 2025 model (ICD) is reshaping not just the visuals but the very environment of the movie-going experience.

A new screen nearly 11 meters wide has been installed at Lotte Cinema Sillim’s Kwang-eum LED theater — the largest size possible within the theater’s dimensions. This was made possible by Samsung Onyx’s flexible scaling options, which allows for custom sizing beyond the standard widths of 5 meters (1.25mm pixel pitch), 10 meters (2.5mm), and 14 meters[3] (3.3mm)[4]. In Lotte Cinema Sillim’s case, additional cabinets were added to the sides and bottom of the standard 10-meter model, enlarging the display by more than 30 percent.

“Due to the structural limitations of the Sillim branch, we were previously able to install only a 10.24-by-5.4-meter LED screen,” Jeong explained. “However, with Onyx’s scalability, we expanded it to 11.52 by 6.3 meters[5], creating a captivating sense of immersion that fills the viewer’s entire field of vision.”

In Samsung Onyx-equipped theaters, every seat offers a crystal-clear view without edge distortion or resolution loss, ensuring the optimal viewing experience from any angle. Unlike traditional projector-based theaters, Samsung Onyx delivers uniform brightness and colour accuracy across the entire screen for every single viewer.

The Onyx screen’s ability to reproduce the colours and textures exactly as creators intended allows viewers to enjoy vivid, distortion-free images without loss of resolution — no matter where they sit in the theater.

“Dynamic scenes such as explosions and battles appeared incredibly sharp, and the vibrant colours made the viewing experience even more immersive,” shared Eunjeong Lim, another moviegoer, after watching a film at the Kwang-eum LED theater.

“Even the outlines of the subtitles were crystal clear, and compared to other screens, the colours felt noticeably richer and more vivid,” added fellow viewer Byeongrok Kang.

Both on-screen text and subtitles appear exceptionally sharp and clear on Onyx screens.

In addition, Samsung Onyx delivers peak brightness levels of up to 300 nits[6] — about six times brighter than those of conventional projector systems — offering crisp, lifelike visuals even in well-lit environments. This enables theaters to use the space not only for movie screenings but also for a wide range of events such as live concert broadcasts, sports match screenings, and dining cinema experiences.

“When watching concert footage, the LED screen vividly captures even the darkest corners of the stage,” Jeong explained. “In the Kwang-eum LED theater, where the Onyx screen is paired with powerful sound, audiences can immerse themselves to an astonishing degree.”

“We’re expanding differentiated services like Onyx LED theaters to deliver a more vivid and immersive viewing environment that can only be experienced in cinemas,” Yongseop Yoon, Head of the Projection System Network Operation Center (NOC) at Lotte Cultureworks, added. “Beyond technological advancement, our goal with the Samsung Onyx screen is to convey the emotional essence of film in its purest form.”

“Personally, I highly recommend watching a visually stunning sci-fi movie at the Kwang-eum LED theater in Sillim,” he added.

Entering the Next Generation of the Cinema Experience

Samsung Onyx is more than just an LED screen — it’s a space where viewers can experience the future of cinema right before their eyes. Those who have experienced the cutting-edge technology often comment that they can’t wait to experience it again.

“The speed and intensity of the action scenes felt very real, and the vivid colours made me feel as if I were part of the movie,” Lim shared. “With this level of picture and sound quality, I definitely want to watch my next film at an Onyx theater.”

“For films by directors like Makoto Shinkai, where colour and visual style are essential, watching them here would feel completely different,” added Jeonghyeon Yoon.

In an era when the boundaries between streaming and theatrical releases are becoming increasingly blurred, Samsung Onyx reminds viewers of the irreplaceable emotion that only theaters can provide. The growing popularity of special sing-along screenings and theatrical releases of animation series proves that the in-theater experience remains truly unique.

Audiences today seek theaters that offer ultimate immersion and an experience that rekindles the magic of cinema. That’s why the phrase “a movie that has to be watched in a theater” still holds true. Amid this shift, Samsung Onyx is redefining the value of theaters through technological innovation and by opening new possibilities for cinematic experiences. The future of cinema that Samsung Onyx envisions is already unfolding — right before our eyes.

With its exceptional image quality and superior space efficiency, Samsung Onyx is shaping the future of cinema.

Samsung Newsroom delved into how the Galaxy S25 series can fill your daily life with joy and meaning as you cook, draw or spend time with your friends and family.

▲ AI Select can isolate a specific moment in the middle of video to be downloaded as a GIF.

Sometimes there can be a certain moment in the middle of a video you’re watching that you simply want to save separately or watch on repeat. Downloading the whole video, finding that exact part and editing it, however, can be quite a time-consuming task. Whether you want to capture a warm moment with your family to cherish the memory or analyze your golf swing in detail to practice over and over again, AI Select can get the job done. While watching the video, simply open the quick panel, tap the AI Select icon and save the desired portion as a GIF.

▲ The Galaxy S25’s AI agents analyze the contents of a refrigerator and recommend recipes.

For those who enjoy cooking, there’s nothing more exciting than trying out a new recipe. When you’re out of ideas for what to cook, the Galaxy S25 series can be just the solution you need. Use the camera to snap a photo of what’s in your fridge, and Galaxy AI will analyze the items, recommend recipes and thoroughly guide you through the cooking process so you can transform ordinary ingredients into extraordinary dishes.

▲ Drawing Assist generates an image of a cat watching fireworks using text input.

With visual content increasing in importance by the day, the tough job of synthesizing and producing high-quality images in bulk has never been in higher demand. It’s only natural to imagine a dream world where AI could dramatically streamline the workload by generating all kinds of vivid images by typing text? That world is no longer an imagination with the Galaxy S25 series’ Drawing Assist and its limitless possibilities. With Drawing Assist, anyone can easily create stunning images using simple text input. For example, typing “watching fireworks” after drawing a very rough sketch of a cat with your finger or an S Pen and will generate images of a cat watching fireworks in a variety of styles, including visual aids, 3D and illustrations. These images can then be used for social media content, visual training materials presentations and more.

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S25 series has shifted the paradigm in mobile experiences with its innovative human-like AI. The latest flagship smartphone serves as the perfect travel companion, streamlining tasks that previously required several steps by quickly identifying users’ needs and taking action. Samsung Newsroom took an exclusive look at some of the Galaxy S25 series’ Galaxy AI features that make traveling much more special.

Find the Best Flight Deals, Share With Friends and Save Onto Samsung Notes in an Instant

▲ Galaxy AI searches for flight tickets online and seamlessly sends the results to friends.

Let’s say you’re planning a trip from San Francisco to New York City with a friend. The process would normally take a lot of time and effort to compare flights online, find the best deals and coordinate schedules. It’s a different story, however, with Galaxy AI. All you need to say is “Find direct flights to New York City and send them to Tony Kim,” and Galaxy AI will search for the best flight deals in real time and send the results to your friend Tony in one smooth, continuous action. It can also save those flight search results onto Samsung Notes so you can refer to them whenever you wish. In other words, Galaxy AI seamlessly moves across apps to carry out commands and make your trip planning much easier.

Translate Menus, Receive Recommendations and Order With Confidence at Restaurants Abroad

▲ Galaxy AI translates a restaurant menu and recommends dishes under 50 euros.

Trying out the local cuisine is one of the most enjoyable parts of traveling, but language barriers can sometimes prove to be quite an issue when ordering at a restaurant. That issue, however, is no longer a concern with Galaxy AI. Suppose you’re at a restaurant in Paris and the menu is all in French. Press the side button on your Galaxy S25 and simply say, “Scan the menu and recommend me something under 50 euros.” The smartphone will instantly translate and recommend menu items under your budget. Go even further by telling Galaxy AI to order that recommended menu in French and soon, you’ll realize that communicating with a waiter in Paris is nothing to fret about.

Dig Up That One Photo You Thought You’d Never Find

▲ Galaxy AI searches through your Samsung Gallery via voice command to find the photo you’re looking for.

When returning home from a trip abroad, you’ll often find yourself looking through thousands of photos to relive the excitement and memories. Don’t worry if you can’t find that one picture in the sea of photos saved in your Samsung Gallery because the Galaxy S25 series will come to the rescue. Simply say, “Find that photo of me eating pizza with my friends in Seoul last year,” and Galaxy AI will recognize your voice to then really show you photos only of that one pizza night in Seoul you enjoyed with your friends last year.

Erase Unwanted Objects and Noise in the Background To Perfect Your Photos and Videos

▲ Galaxy AI removes unwanted objects and people in the background of an image in your Samsung Gallery.

Suppose you come across a small problem while organizing your photos from a recent trip to the beach: the photos you took with the sun setting in a brilliant blaze boast a beautiful background and perfect composition, but captured other tourists in the frame besides yourself. This is precisely when the Galaxy S25 series’ Generative Edit comes in handy. Click on Galaxy AI in the Samsung Gallery, select the unwanted objects or people you want to erase, and Galaxy AI will remove them with precision, right down to their shadows.

Video editing features have evolved as well. Audio Eraser can analyse the audio in a video to then isolate and delete unwanted sounds in the background. This automatic removal of unwanted noise can be useful for videos recorded in all kinds of situations, from travel and events to interviews and more, as users no longer need to waste time on complex audio editing.

Introduces innovative ideas to use SmartThings more easily and usefully Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled a campaign video titled “Everyday

Introduces innovative ideas to use SmartThings more easily and usefully

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled a campaign video titled “Everyday SmartThings with Son,” starring globally renowned football player Son Heung-min. The video underscores the collaboration between Son Heung-min and Samsung and features scenes of Son utilizing the personalized multi-device experience that the SmartThings lifestyle has to offer.

A Galaxy brand ambassador since the Unpacked event in July 2023, Son has partnered with Samsung on the new SmartThings campaign. With a focus on Son’s perspective, the campaign focuses particularly on entertainment, health and saving energy, all of which are areas of high interest among customers globally. The video, which showcases Son living an upgraded daily lifestyle in a series of interviews throughout, will be released through Samsung’s global social channels. All the devices in the video are seamlessly connected within the SmartThings ecosystem. The devices included are not only conventional home appliances such as TVs and refrigerators, but also an array of other devices like speakers and lights.

An Energy-Saving Routine, Thanks to SmartThings Energy and SmartThings Routines

Energy conservation is front and center in the video, as it is showcased through the use of key features of the SmartThings app, such as the SmartThings Energy and SmartThings Routines.

SmartThings Energy allows real-time monitoring of energy consumption from various devices like refrigerators, washing machines and TVs. It activates AI Energy Mode[1] before usage reaches higher pricing tiers, which effectively reduces electricity expenses.

With the SmartThings Routines feature, users automatically control household appliances based on specified times and conditions. Son demonstrates this in the campaign video with the “Going Out Routine,” which automatically turns appliances off when he leaves his house. Thanks to this function, Son can pay more attention to other things to do before going out while also reducing unnecessary energy consumption, which leads to a more efficient daily routine.

Harmonise Leisure Time With Music Sync and Hue Sync

Apart from functions that save energy, SmartThings boasts features that enhance leisure time at home. Music Sync[2] creates a dynamic home atmosphere by synchronizing lighting connected to SmartThings with music played on a Galaxy device. Hue Sync[3] performs a similar function but with Samsung smart TVs, offering users an immersive viewing experience as they enjoy their favorite movies, live events or video games, etc.

In the video, Son makes use of these features through adaptive lighting, which sets a relaxed mood for him at home. Also featured is Gaming Mode, which Son uses to immerse himself in his favorite video games by syncing the color and movement of his home lighting with on-screen action.

Monitoring Health With the Galaxy Watch

The Galaxy Watch can provide users with real-time workout data, such as heart rate, calories burned and exercise duration. With SmartThings, Son is able to get the best use out of this feature by simultaneously doing core exercises and watching a football match on TV. While watching the match, he can see the data from his workout on his TV screen[4]. This innovative integration enables individuals to exercise effectively while watching TV.

Commenting on his participation in the campaign, Son said, “The system operates automatically, which makes the experience very simple. Through SmartThings, I’ve found myself enjoying my time at home more while saving energy. It’s easy!”

“Everyday SmartThings with Son” can be found at Samsung’s official YouTube and Instagram channels.
