Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its “Coral in Focus” initiative, powered by Ocean Mode[1], an advanced camera feature on the newer Galaxy mobile phones, has received multiple awards for its contributions to coral reef conservation, including Gold in the “Best Sustainability or Conservation Initiative” category at Engage for Good’s 2026 Halo Awards.

Additionally, “Coral in Focus,” a documentary tied to the initiative, received the Coastal and Island Culture Award at the 23rd International Ocean Film Festival. Samsung was separately named on Fast Company’s 2026 Most Innovative Companies list for its work advancing mobile innovation in environmental research.

These recognitions reflect the impact of Samsung’s efforts to reverse the decline of coral reefs in partnership with U.S.-based nonprofit organisation Seatrees and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego. By bringing together Galaxy’s advanced image capturing capabilities, Seatrees’ community-driven restoration model and Scripps’ knowledge on marine science, Samsung is transforming Galaxy mobile phones into powerful tools for ocean conservation.

▲ Photo captured with a Galaxy S26 Ultra equipped with Ocean Mode

Coral reefs cover less than 1% of the ocean floor yet support approximately 25% of all marine life and sustain millions of livelihoods worldwide[2]. Without intervention, many reefs are at risk of disappearing by 2050 due to climate change, pollution and overfishing.

To help address this challenge, Samsung collaborated with Seatrees and Scripps to advance coral reef restoration across a growing network of sites in Costa Rica, Fiji, the Galápagos Islands, Indonesia and the United States.

Through the “Samsung x Seatrees: Bring Coral in Focus” initiative, partners and local communities are given Ocean Mode-equipped Galaxy devices and underwater housings to capture high-quality underwater imagery with Ocean Mode, which is then used to generate detailed 3D photogrammetric models. This process improves how coral reefs are monitored and evaluated, resulting in critical insight into reef health and recovery.

Together, Samsung, Seatrees and Scripps have driven meaningful impact across restoration sites. To date, more than 20,000 coral fragments have been planted, and over 80 3D reef models have been built to support monitoring and research efforts.

▲ Side-by-side comparison of coral imagery captured on a Galaxy mobile phone with standard camera settings (left) and Ocean Mode (right), highlighting improved colour correction and reduced motion blur underwater.

Now available through Expert RAW [3], Ocean Mode extends these capabilities to Galaxy users, making advanced underwater imaging[4] available to more people while reducing reliance on expensive, heavy DSLR equipment. This increased accessibility is critical to scaling coral reef monitoring efforts, particularly in regions where resources and technical infrastructure may be limited.

These accolades build on Samsung’s broader commitment to sustainability under its initiative, Our Journey: Galaxy for the Planet. From incorporating recycled materials into Galaxy devices to developing technologies like Ocean Mode with like-minded partners, Samsung continues to explore how innovation can help protect the planet.

[1]As of April 2026, Ocean Mode is supported on Galaxy S26 Series, and is expanding to the S25 Series, S24 Series, Fold 7, Flip 7, Z Tri-Fold, Fold 6 and Flip 6 throughout the first half of 2026.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the launch of “Trips,” a new feature in Samsung Wallet designed to help Samsung Galaxy users organise and manage travel-related experiences in one place. Created for travellers who want a seamless experience and faster access to important details during a journey, Trips brings eligible travel items together in Samsung Wallet to offer key travel information when they need it.

“Travel plans are often scattered across confirmations, apps and messages, and that creates friction at the exact moments people need clarity,” said Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “By bringing Trips to Samsung Wallet, we’re giving Galaxy users a single place to keep their trip details organised and stay one step ahead as their plans unfold.”

The new feature introduces a Trip timeline that brings all travel-related plans together in a single view, adding structure to busy itineraries and providing a smoother journey from start to finish. When users add eligible items to Samsung Wallet, Trips groups them together based on factors such as time and location, helping travellers keep itineraries in one place despite details coming from different sources.

Users can manage a range of travel-related experiences, including bookings such as hotels, flight itineraries, car rentals and excursions — as well as tickets for buses, trains, theme parks and sporting events. Trips also supports the ability to manually add itinerary items and include memos alongside saved items to capture key reminders, plans and notes throughout the journey.

Trips underscores Samsung’s ongoing commitment to evolving Samsung Wallet into a more helpful companion in everyday life. Over time, the company will continue to expand Samsung Wallet by adding new features and partner experiences, making it even easier for Samsung Galaxy users to access and manage the essentials they rely on, including while traveling.

Samsung Wallet provides peace of mind to users through protection from Samsung Knox, Samsung’s industry-leading security platform. Samsung Knox uses protections such as encryption and biometric authentication to help safeguard sensitive information, so only the device owner can access those data.

Samsung Wallet is built as an easy-to-use, secure platform that helps Galaxy users organise everyday essentials — from payment cards to boarding passes — in one mobile application. With a refined interface and seamless access, Samsung Wallet is designed to keep what users need within reach while supporting an open ecosystem through trusted partner integrations that expand user experiences over time.

Availability

Trips will be available in Samsung Wallet starting April 2026 on compatible Samsung Galaxy mobile phones[1] in Korea, the United States and the United Kingdom.

[1] Applicable to all Samsung Galaxy mobile phones that are compatible with Samsung Wallet version 6.4.98 or higher in U.K.

Audio Eraser[1] on Galaxy devices reduces unnecessary noise in videos and amplifies desired sounds, enabling a more immersive viewing experience. First introduced for editing saved content on the Galaxy S25 series, the feature has evolved significantly over the generations. Audio Eraser expanded to support playback adjustments within native apps — such as Gallery and Voice Recorder — on Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7.

Now, with the Galaxy S26 series, it has reached new heights by supporting real-time audio control on content streamed across various platforms. In this article, we’ll dive deeper into these advancements.

From Fix it Later to Filter it Now

Starting with the Galaxy S26 series, Audio Eraser has evolved into a live audio experience. It enables real-time sound separation and optimisation across voices, music and background noise, not only for recorded content but also for over-the-top (OTT) or social media content you are watching. This advancement shifts the focus from post-recording edits to real-time audio management.

By integrating an AI sound engine with advanced sound separation technology, the Galaxy S26 series allows you to instantly adjust and control sound as it occurs. This ensures a clear, immersive listening experience across various streaming platforms by effectively neutralising distracting background noise.

The video below shows how the Galaxy S26 series keeps the sounds you want to hear clear, even in noisy environments.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Audio-eraser_On-Off-Asset_EN_0415_v4.mp4

▲Comparison of interview audio before and after using Audio Eraser on the Galaxy S26 series.

Seamless Access, Total Control

You can easily adjust noise and reduce distractions directly from the Quick panel without needing to rewind or replay content. While the video is playing, simply swipe down from the top right of the screen and tap the Audio Eraser icon to start filtering the sound right away.

Once activated, the feature offers advanced controls for a more professional touch. You can adjust the “Strength” slider to fine-tune noise reduction and enable “Voice Focus” to hear crystal-clear dialogue in the video.

With the Galaxy S26 series, you can enjoy tailored sound quality in real-time, regardless of the content you’re watching.

Audio Eraser is no longer limited to reducing noise. It now allows you to easily design your sound in real time. Enjoy the more personalised and comfortable listening experience with the Galaxy S26 series.

Europeans may think of their smartphones as private, but in public, they often come with an unexpected audience. New research[1] from Samsung Electronics highlights a clear mismatch: while 48% of people believe their phone use in public is private, 52% say it is easy to see someone else’s screen.

This awareness gap is giving rise to a new reality: the “accidental audience”.

Who are the “accidental audience”?

The “accidental audience” is made up of people who look at someone else’s phone screen when out in public. It is not planned, and sometimes not even intentional. Just something that happens when out and about.

The research shows:

56% of Europeans have accidentally looked at a stranger’s phone

24% admit curiosity has occasionally led them to look

49% say they have felt someone else glance at their own screen

How is the accidental audience viewing your phone screen?

These moments are most likely to happen in shared, close-contact environments. Public transport is the most common setting, according to 57% of respondents.

Other everyday scenarios include:

Waiting in queues (35%)

Sitting in cafés, bars or restaurants (13%)

In these settings, glances are part of everyday life, and nearby phone screens often fall into view.

What are people actually seeing?

Often, it is more personal than expected. One in three Europeans (33%) says they have seen private content on a stranger’s phone screen.

The most commonly spotted content includes:

Personal photos or camera roll (38%)

Video calls showing people’s faces or voices (33%)

Private messages (29%)

Social media notifications (27%)

Online shopping (17%)

Dating app content (12%)

Banking or financial details (11%)

For many, these are brief, passing moments – but 27% say they have seen something they felt they were not meant to see, highlighting how easily private content can become public.

How are people protecting their phone screens in public?

As awareness of the “accidental audience” grows, many people are making small changes to how they use their phones in public. The Samsung Electronics research shows that 38% of Europeans have delayed or avoided certain actions on their device when in shared spaces.

Common adjustments include:

Doing online banking at a different time (62%)

Holding off entering passcodes (49%)

Saving personal messages for later (43%)

In the moment:

42% stop using their phone

28% continue as normal

27% of the “accidental audience” look away

7% of the “accidental audience” keep looking discreetly

Only 10% would address it directly, suggesting most people accept the people seeing their screen as part of modern life and quietly adapt.

Can smartphones have a built-in privacy display?

As this behaviour becomes more common, smartphone design is evolving to match real-world use. The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra introduces a Privacy Display[2] that reduces visibility from side angles and limits what others can see[3].

Helping to shift power back towards the user, giving people the opportunity to exercise more control over what is visible and when.

A new normal for smartphone use

In a world where smartphones are used everywhere, small moments of visibility are inevitable.

What is changing is awareness. Europeans are becoming more conscious of who might be watching and adjusting how they use their devices accordingly.

Because these days, when you use your phone in public, you might not be the only one seeing it.

[1] Survey of 11,000 smartphone users (1,000 in each market) across UK, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, the Netherlands and Belgium conducted by Censuswide.

[2] Requires manual activation in settings to function. Privacy Display feature is not AI-powered.

[3] When activated, some information may still be visible to others depending on the viewing environment, such as the angle or brightness. Caution is advised when exposing sensitive information.

Samsung Electronics unveiled Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G, expanding access to its latest mobile innovations. The new Galaxy A series reflects Samsung’s commitment to democratising AI by delivering advanced experiences at a more accessible price point.

Samsung’s Global Newsroom explored the devices’ capabilities across AI, camera, design and performance.

Awesome Intelligence: AI for Everyday Tasks

At the core of Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G is Awesome Intelligence[1] — a suite of AI-powered features designed to simplify daily tasks.

One of the most notable additions is Voice Transcription, available on the Galaxy A series for the first time. With the Voice Recorder app, users can record audio, convert speech to text and translate it across multiple languages[2] — making it easier to review meetings, revisit lectures or organise recorded calls.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Mobile-Galaxy-A-series-Galaxy-A57-5G-Galaxy-A37-5G-Latest-Innovation_main1_F.mp4

▲ Voice Transcription

Circle to Search with Google[3], a Galaxy fan favourite feature, continues to expand and now allows multiple objects to be identified at once. For example, when users spot a look they love, information about each object — from tops to footwear — can be found in one search by simply circling an outfit on the screen.

AI Select[4] suggests relevant actions based on on-screen content, such as creating GIFs, saving images or setting wallpapers. The feature is now accessible by long-pressing the Edge Panel.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Mobile-Galaxy-A-series-Galaxy-A57-5G-Galaxy-A37-5G-Latest-Innovation_main2.mp4

Users can also move content seamlessly between apps. Multi-Window Drag & Drop, enhanced with AI Select, enables faster multitasking in apps like Samsung Browser and Samsung Notes. For example, images can be dragged directly into Samsung Notes and resized as needed.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Mobile-Galaxy-A-series-Galaxy-A57-5G-Galaxy-A37-5G-Latest-Innovation_main3.mp4

▲ Multi-Window Drag & Drop

The enhanced Object Eraser[5] removes unwanted elements with improved edge accuracy for clearer, more natural-looking images in fewer edits.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/04/Samsung-Mobile-Galaxy-A-series-Galaxy-A57-5G-Galaxy-A37-5G-Latest-Innovation_main4.mp4

▲ Object Eraser

Camera: Clearer Shots From Day to Night

Photography remains central to the Galaxy A series, with camera enhancements that deliver sharp, vivid results in both bright and low-light conditions.

▲ (From top to bottom) Photos taken at 1x and 0.6x zoom on Galaxy A57 5G

Both models feature a triple rear camera system for greater versatility. A 5MP macro camera captures detailed close-ups, revealing textures that might otherwise go unnoticed. The 12MP ultra-wide camera on Galaxy A57 5G enables broader shots, ideal for landscapes and group photos.

▲ Detailed close-ups taken with Galaxy A57 5G

Nightography[6] has been enhanced to produce brighter, sharper images in low light with more natural colour. Improvements are noticeable in cityscapes and street scenes, where noise and distortion are often more visible.

▲ (From top to bottom) Night scene in Seoul with Nightography on Galaxy A57 5G and resulting image

Design: Slim, Light and Refined

The new Galaxy A series features a refined design that balances sleekness with everyday usability.

Galaxy A57 5G introduces a slimmer, lighter form factor at 6.9 mm thick and 179 g — 0.5 mm thinner and 19 g lighter than its predecessor — making it easier to hold while remaining pocket-friendly.

▲ Galaxy A57 5G is lightweight and sleek.

The triple-camera layout creates a cohesive look aligned with the Galaxy design language, enhancing overall polish and precision.

Display improvements further elevate the experience. Galaxy A57 5G features 1.5 mm bezels on the top and sides — reduced by 0.7 mm at the top and 0.5 mm on the sides — for a more immersive viewing experience without increasing device size.

▲ Galaxy A57 5G has narrower bezels for a more immersive viewing experience.

Both models are available in two light and two dark colour options. Galaxy A57 5G comes in Awesome Navy, Awesome Grey, Awesome Icyblue and Awesome Lilac, while Galaxy A37 5G is offered in Awesome Lavender, Awesome Charcoal, Awesome Greygreen and Awesome White. A premium metal frame completes the design, balancing durability and aesthetics.

▲ (From top to bottom) Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G in different colours

Performance: Faster, Smoother and Longer-Lasting

Performance remains a key part of the overall experience. With upgraded CPU and GPU, Galaxy A57 5G delivers faster, smoother operation for streaming, editing and everyday use.[7] A 13% larger vapor chamber[8] helps keep the device cool, even during extended gaming or video recording.

A 5,000mAh battery[9] supports up to two days of use[10] on a single charge. Super Fast Charging 2.0 powers Galaxy A57 5G up to 60% in about 30 minutes, reducing downtime[11].

Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G take a user-centric approach, focusing on essential innovations across AI, camera, design and performance in a practical and accessible way.

From Awesome Intelligence to advanced camera capabilities, the new Galaxy A series brings the latest innovations to more users. Samsung will continue to expand access to its mobile innovations, empowering more people around the world.

Enriched Awesome Intelligence Designed for Everyday Life

Through the latest One UI 8.5, Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G extend Samsung’s latest AI innovations to more users, with Awesome Intelligence that helps people get more things done with ease while unlocking new ways to create and stay productive.

Voice Transcription is new to the Voice Recorder app, making it easier to revisit important details from meetings, lectures or calls by quickly transcribing and translating call recordings or turning voicemail audio into text. AI Select[2] is easier to access with a long press on the Edge Panel, surfacing relevant actions directly on the screen to extract text or create content without manually selecting items. AI Select also supports Drag & Drop in Multi-Window layout, allowing users to easily move images into Samsung Notes or Photo Editor for faster editing and improved productivity.

Awesome Intelligence makes everyday photo editing easier than ever. Object Eraser[3] now delivers more natural results when removing unwanted distractions, like a passerby in the background or clutter in a café. On Galaxy A57 5G, Best Face[4] supports more photos and continuous shooting, making it easier to capture the perfect group photos where everyone looks their best. Fan favorite tools like Filters and Edit Suggestions[5] help users quickly refine and share moments without extra effort, while Galaxy A57 5G also features Auto Trim[6] for even easier video editing.

Circle to Search with Google[7] adds multi-object recognition so users can easily explore multiple items in an image at once — from an outfit to surrounding accessories — all in one search.

The new Galaxy A series expands Awesome Intelligence experiences with a choice of agents designed to simplify everyday tasks from search to organizing plans or easily adjusting settings. As a conversational device agent, upgraded Bixby[8] lets users intuitively control Galaxy settings and features using natural language, while Gemini[9] navigates complex tasks across native Galaxy apps and select third-party apps to support faster, more intuitive interactions.

Awesome Camera to Capture Clearer Photos and Videos, Day or Night

As AI becomes more deeply integrated into mobile experiences, camera performance remains essential to delivering the everyday usability and satisfaction users expect.

Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G deliver brighter, clearer visuals powered by the upgraded camera hardware and an improved Image Signal Processor (ISP).[10] The devices feature a versatile triple-camera system, led by a 50MP main sensor[11], delivering sharp, detailed images across a wide range of lighting conditions without the need for manual adjustments.

When the lights go down, the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G camera adapts seamlessly with Nightography[12], capturing clear and true-to-life photos and videos even in low light conditions.

Galaxy A57 5G takes photography a step further with enhanced image processing that sharpens detail and reduces noise for even clearer, more vibrant results. It delivers rich contrast and balanced color even in challenging light, while with a faster shutter speed, users can instantly capture fleeting moments faster and with improved clarity.

Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G also benefit from AI-based subject recognition and scene optimization to balance portraits, preserve natural skin tones and create clearer background separation. When the moment calls for a wider perspective, the ultra-wide lens captures more in every group photo or landscape view, while the 5MP macro camera reveals fine details up close for added creative flexibility.

Performance for Streaming and Multitasking

Galaxy A57 5G delivers the best of both design and performance[13], combining upgraded CPU, GPU and NPU to deliver improved performance with its sleek and light form. Built for smooth streaming, scrolling and content creation, its refined design features a glossy finish and distinctive triple-camera island for a standout modern look that feels comfortable in-hand.

Despite its slimmer profile, Galaxy A57 5G packs powerful performance. Its 5,000mAh[14] battery supports up to two days of use[15] — powering everything from filming and editing to viewing on the go. Super Fast Charging 2.0 reaches up to 60% in around 30 minutes for a quick boost before heading out, while a 13% larger vapor chamber[16] helps sustain performance during extended gaming or recording. Slimmer bezels and a bright Super AMOLED + display with Vision Booster ensure an immersive, clear viewing experience indoors and outside.

Built for everyday use, Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G are rated IP68[17] for water and dust resistance, adding durability in real-world environments and offering users peace of mind when accidents happen.

When Jacob Kiplimo storms past the finish line, he’s not just running on talent — he’s running on data. The Ugandan long-distance star and Team Galaxy athlete trains with Galaxy Watch8, which turns complex biometric data into valuable insights that shape his winning strategy.

This powerful combination of technology and talent has already reaped rewards. After securing a dominant win at the 2025 Chicago Marathon and shattering the half-marathon world record this March in Lisbon, the 25-year-old is now targeting success at the 2026 London Marathon.

To mark World Health Day (WHD) 2026 on April 7, Samsung Newsroom asked him to detail his data-driven training regime which embodies this year’s WHD slogan, “Together for health. Stand with science.”

With exclusive access to his Samsung Health metrics, we take an inside look into his grueling training program which has seen him cover over 100 km in just one week. Discover how insights led him to adjust his training for optimal recovery and how even a “rest day” can include a 3 km run.

Screenshots from Jacob Kiplimo’s Samsung Health app show his varied training routine, including light jogs and long-distance runs

Congratulations on your recent world record at the 2026 Lisbon Half Marathon. What’s the secret to your success?

There’s no secret. It’s just about discipline. You have to work hard, be extremely focused, and manage your energy — knowing when to rest and when to push harder. But honestly, the most important part is that you have to really want what you’re working toward. I wouldn’t have broken the world record if I didn’t follow that formula.

You finished second at the 2025 London Marathon and are now preparing to go one step further at this year’s event. What role has your Galaxy Watch8 played in your training?

My coach doesn’t live in Uganda, so my Galaxy Watch8 has basically become his personal assistant here. Even though he’s not with me, he can get real-time analysis and reports on my running form through the Running Analysis feature in Samsung Health. We track my heart rate and pay close attention to my pace for each kilometer. During the harder sessions, I also monitor the asymmetry readings to see if I’m overcompensating on one side so I can avoid strain. Contact time is another key aspect I keep an eye on, making small adjustments to my form to ensure every stride is as efficient as possible. I always try to improve my running economy, so these insights are incredibly helpful.

Looking at your recent Samsung Health data, we can see some clear patterns in your training routine. Tell us about your regime.

Consistency is key, but athletes must not be obsessed with training. What many people don’t realize is that rest is equally as important as physical training. To compete at your best, you need to be able to maximize your energy, and the only way to do that is through consistent rest. But “rest” doesn’t always mean no training. A rest day can mean running 3 km instead of 40 km. You have to be consistent in what you’re doing, but you also need to listen to your body and know when to slow down. Technology can help a lot with this.

Jacob Kiplimo’s Samsung Health data from March 13–19 reveals how he ramps up his training routine throughout the week

Can you give us an example of how a specific insight from the Samsung Health app led you to adapt your training program?

The decision to run 3 km instead of 40 km that I just mentioned was a true story. After experiencing some lingering soreness during a recent 24 km run, I decided to turn what was intended to be a 40 km run into a light 3 km jog to ensure I could recover and have the stamina to get through 40 km another day. The Samsung Health app was very helpful for me here. It kept me informed so I could allow my body to fully recover and prevent a potential injury or burnout.

We’ve seen how a professional runner like yourself uses data to reach their goals. What advice would you give to someone who is just starting their running journey, and how can the Running Coach feature get them on the right track?

For beginners, it is very important to ease into things and be patient. You will build up stamina over time; it’s about knowing when to push yourself and when to stop. Not everyone has a personal coach with them to tailor a training plan. But the Running Coach feature provides customized programs to help even beginners train for a marathon. It tells you exactly what you should be doing during a run, motivates you, and helps you improve. New runners are fortunate to have this fantastic technology which can guide them every step of the way. It’s also great for more experienced runners looking to take on a full marathon as it provides structured training programs.

On World Health Day, the message is “Together for health, stand with science.” How does this relate to your own philosophy?

Science helps me throughout my training. I don’t know where I would be without the ability to track data on my Galaxy Watch8. I use that science to shape my daily routine. Science and technology help me to perform at my best, and I believe it can do the same for anyone.

From a young runner in Uganda to a world-record holder, Jacob Kiplimo proves what happens when relentless dedication meets smart technology. Whether you are an elite athlete striving for the podium or someone taking your first steps towards a healthier lifestyle, Galaxy Watch8 provides actionable insights to help you build healthier habits and reach your goals.
