From tracking workouts and understanding sleep to managing everyday tasks from your wrist, Brits are becoming increasingly tuned into what their health

From tracking workouts and understanding sleep to managing everyday tasks from your wrist, Brits are becoming increasingly tuned into what their health data can tell them.

New research commissioned by Samsung reveals that more than six in ten Brits (62%) now track some aspect of their health or wellbeing, while 55% say they are more proactive about monitoring their health than they were five years ago[1] .

But Galaxy Watch can do much more than keep tabs on your health. Outside of Samsung Health, the new Galaxy Watch Series is packed with features designed to make everyday life that little bit simpler – from hands-free shortcuts and staying connected on the move to accessing Google Gemini straight from your wrist.

So, which ones are actually worth knowing about? Fresh from presenting at Galaxy Unpacked in London, Samsung UK Product Specialist Lee Dinham shares some of his favourite – and lesser-known – features on the new Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 – including a few you might be missing out on.

Talk to Gemini without reaching for your phone

Lee’s favourite new Galaxy Watch feature is also one of the easiest to overlook.

With Raise to Talk, simply lift your Galaxy Watch towards your mouth and Google Gemini[2] is ready to listen – no tapping through menus required.

“My favourite new feature on the Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Watch9 is Raise to Talk to activate Google Gemini,” says Lee. “I’ve found this really useful to get quick answers to questions on the go, especially without having to reach for my smartphone.”

Google Gemini2 also allows you to use natural voice instructions, making it particularly useful when you’re on the move or have your hands full. Rather than stopping what you’re doing to navigate your Galaxy Watch, you can simply ask for what you need.

Lee’s tip: Try Raise to Talk in those moments when your hands are full or you’d normally instinctively reach for your phone.

Master the ‘knock knock’

If talking to your Galaxy Watch isn’t convenient, there’s another hands-free shortcut worth knowing about.

Gestures allow you to control certain Galaxy Watch functions using movements of your hand, meaning you can trigger an action without navigating the touchscreen. One of Lee’s favourites is the “knock knock” gesture.

“You can perform a ‘knock knock’ gesture with your fist that can be used for all sorts of actions, like activating an exercise, turning on the torch function or launching your favourite app,” Lee explains.

That means a simple movement can get you straight to a function you regularly use – particularly handy when you’re exercising, commuting or have your other hand occupied.

Lee’s tip: Set the gesture to an action you use regularly, whether that’s quickly starting a workout, switching on the torch or opening your favourite app.

Leave more to your Watch

Sometimes, getting more from your Galaxy Watch isn’t about discovering one new feature, but realising how many everyday tasks you can already manage from your wrist.

“Our Galaxy Watches have so many features,” says Lee. “They’re also a great lifestyle companion – you can manage all of your messages and notifications, make and receive calls, make payments on the go with Samsung Wallet[3] and download your favourite apps like Spotify, WhatsApp and hundreds more via the Google Play Store[4] .”

That means everything from checking a message to changing your music or paying for your morning coffee can be handled straight from your wrist.

Lee’s tip: Spend a few minutes setting up the apps and shortcuts you use most. The more you personalise your Galaxy Watch around your routine, the more you can leave your smartphone in your pocket.

And when it comes to health…

Of course, health and fitness remain at the heart of Galaxy Watch – whether you’re taking the first steps on your wellbeing journey or training towards your next big goal. Samsung research found 65% of Brits have changed their lifestyle after reviewing health data or insights about themselves, while two-thirds (66%) say they pay close attention to the quality of their sleep.

Here are three features Lee recommends exploring:

Know when to push – and when to recover: Daily Cardio Load[5] , can help provide a better picture of whether your current level of activity is right for you. “I think we’re all guilty of not getting enough rest and recovery time, especially when we’re training for a specific fitness goal,” says Lee. “The Daily Cardio Load feature gives a great indication of if I’m doing too much – or not enough – in the gym and will give me a nudge to take it easy every so often.”#

Turn fitness into a friendly competition: Fitness Index[5] , compares your metrics with other Samsung Health users in your age range. “I love to be competitive,” says Lee. “It’s a great motivator to focus on specific areas so I can improve my score. I definitely need to up my cardio!”

Look at the bigger picture: Alongside activity and heart-rate tracking, Galaxy Watch offers features spanning body composition measurement[6] , ECG and blood pressure monitoring[7] , nutritional guidance and mindfulness, as well as personalised insights including Sleep and Energy Scores[8]. “Whether you’re just getting started in your health and wellness journey, or someone who does frequent trail runs and ultra-marathons, there is something for everyone no matter what your level,” says Lee.

Whether you’re training for your next big fitness goal or simply looking for a smarter way to manage everyday life, there’s plenty more to discover on your wrist. With a few simple features and personal insights, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 are designed to be more than just a way to track your stats – they’re a smart companion that can help you make the most of every day.

Discover the latest Galaxy Watch offers

Ready to put Lee’s tips to the test? Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 are available now, with a range of offers available for customers looking to upgrade: https://www.samsung.com/uk/watches/?product1=sm-l715fzsaeub&product2=sm-l340nzeaeub&product3=sm-l705fdaaeua

Strong early demand reflects growing excitement for Samsung’s latest Galaxy Z series, with pre-orders for the new lineup having increased by more than 30% compared with the previous generation. Graphite was the most popular colour overall for Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8, while Pink led pre-orders for Galaxy Z Flip8. Among Samsung.com pre-order customers aged 15 to 34, exclusive colours Green Shadow, Pistachio and Mint emerged as the top choices for Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, respectively.

The New Galaxy Z Series: Three Distinct Foldable Experiences

Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and consumer insight, the new Galaxy Z series gives users more choice than ever, with three distinct experiences engineered to fit different needs.

Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a fresh form factor built around the way people explore, discover and immerse themselves in their favourite content. Its display ratios are designed to move naturally with users throughout the day – from quick interactions like messaging, browsing and short-form video on the wider cover screen to more immersive viewing, reading and gaming on the 4:3 main display.

With Gemini Notebook, users can bring together notes, images, recordings, files, and documents in one workspace to collect, organise, and develop their ideas. At just 201g, it is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, while Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology helps support a slimmer display structure with lasting durability and reduced crease visibility over time.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra brings Galaxy’s renowned Ultra standard to foldables, combining a larger workspace with an upgraded camera system and performance built for demanding creative workflows. Its expansive 8-inch main display opens up more room for multitasking, while Now Nudge[1];helps users move from conversation to action by suggesting relevant next steps across supported apps.

The 200 MP main camera now supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) in 200 MP mode for richer detail, colour and clarity. A new 50 MP ultra-wide camera adds greater flexibility for wider scenes and macro shots, helping users capture more from one device.

Across Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, Dual Recording captures both the action and the user’s reaction, while My FanCam[2] automatically tracks and reframes a selected subject.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra also features a 5,000 mAh battery[3], 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0[4] and an expanded graphite cooling structure – all in Galaxy’s slimmest Z Fold design yet, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215g.

Galaxy Z Flip8, Samsung’s sleekest Flip ever released, is built for expression and quick interaction on the go. Its reimagined FlexWindow brings apps, insights, actions and assistance directly to the cover screen. Now Brief[5] surfaces personalised information based on users’ schedules, routines and interests.

Users can also access Gemini from the FlexWindow through side-key activation or natural voice requests, making it easier to complete connected actions on the go.

Galaxy Z Flip8 further enhances Samsung’s signature Flip camera experience with a 50 MP camera, ProVisual Engine and FlexCam experiences that make it easier to capture, preview and share polished photos and videos from flexible angles.

Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9: Effortless Health Management From the Wrist

On July 22 at Galaxy Unpacked July 2026, Samsung Electronics introduced intelligent eyewear[1] as the first step toward making AI glasses the next interface for mobile AI.

Built on decades of expertise in mobile engineering, hardware design and product craftsmanship, intelligent eyewear combines true wearability with mobile AI experiences and seamless connectivity within the Galaxy ecosystem.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with James Choi, Executive Vice President and Head of XR R&D Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, to learn about the development of intelligent eyewear, the engineering behind its design and Samsung’s long-term vision for the AI glasses category.

Q.Why is Samsung introducing intelligent eyewear now and why does it believe AI glasses will become the next interface for mobile AI?

AI glasses will only become mainstream if people genuinely want to wear them every day. Achieving this level of wearability requires more than advanced AI — it also demands deep engineering expertise, mobile technologies and an understanding of how people use technology in their daily lives. Drawing on decades of mobile leadership, Samsung is well positioned to bring these elements together and help move the category forward.

AI glasses understand what users see, hear and experience around them and enable more natural, contextual and seamless interactions, bringing AI closer to the moments that matter in everyday life. Our goal is not to replace the mobile phone but to create AI glasses that help people use their phones less, while getting more value from the mobile experiences they rely on. Samsung is laying the foundation for this vision through the new intelligent eyewear, extending mobile AI beyond the screen.

Q. What are the biggest engineering priorities when developing AI glasses?

The journey began with Galaxy XR. Through our experience developing it, we learned how to design technology that people can comfortably wear on their faces. We applied those insights to intelligent eyewear, focusing every engineering decision on comfort, fit and everyday use.

Wearability isn’t simply a design challenge — it’s an engineering one. When it comes to eyewear, even a tenth of a millimeter matters. That is why we took a holistic approach, carefully considering weight, materials, thermal management and battery efficiency.

Designed to be slim and light, intelligent eyewear incorporates patented slim hinges, advanced thin-wall molding, lightweight materials and optimized hardware components. Its hinge structure prevents corrosion and withstands the demands of everyday wear, while the patented temple architecture improves structural rigidity. Thermal graphite material on the left side of the glasses also helps prevent heat generated by the AP (Application Processor) from transferring to the user’s face.

Because every face is different, we used computational design and worked closely with our eyewear partners to refine the fit across key contact points including the forehead, cheekbones and behind the ears. We also balanced the weight across both sides of the frame, so users can barely notice any difference.

Samsung has filed around 200 patent applications in this category, reflecting its long-term investment in intelligent eyewear. Ultimately, all that engineering is designed to disappear into the experience, making the glasses feel as natural as an ordinary pair.

▲Intelligent eyewear was introduced at Galaxy Unpacked July 2026.

Q. How did you ensure intelligent eyewear was resilient enough for everyday use?

Users expect Samsung-quality products, regardless of form factor. We applied the manufacturing expertise and rigorous verification standards developed over decades of Galaxy device innovation, while introducing additional testing tailored to intelligent eyewear.

Because it is worn directly on the face, intelligent eyewear had to meet the standards of both mobile devices and eyewear — and go beyond them. It underwent extensive durability, environmental and safety testing, including exposure to high temperatures, humidity, sunscreen, cosmetics and sweat, as well as folding and hinge expansion tests.

Despite the extensive engineering packed into its slim and lightweight design, intelligent eyewear delivers uncompromising performance, including strong battery life. Through hardware and software optimization, intelligent eyewear provides up to nine hours of active use on a single charge, even during demanding experiences such as Gemini and video recording. The charging case enables more than seven full recharges for extended multi-day use.[2]

Q. Why do you see intelligent eyewear as a new entry point for mobile AI?

Intelligent eyewear introduces a more natural and intuitive way to experience mobile AI. Its ability to understand what users see, hear and experience around them enables more personalized, contextual support in the moment.

With a high-quality camera, microphones and speakers integrated into its frame, intelligent eyewear responds through natural conversation, while reducing the need for users to stop and reach for a phone.

From real-time guidance and live translation to line-of-sight capture and context-aware assistance, these experiences are designed to help users access mobile AI while staying present in what they are doing.[3]

Q. How does intelligent eyewear fit within the broader Galaxy ecosystem?

Intelligent eyewear is designed to work as a companion device to Galaxy phones and other Galaxy wearables, extending mobile AI beyond the screen through more personalized experiences. Users can access apps and services they already rely on — from Samsung and Google apps to third-party content — through a natural, hands-free interface.

For example, they can start recording hands-free with intelligent eyewear, preview what they have captured on Now Bar and then access it in Galaxy Gallery on their phone.[4] Through split computing, processing is distributed between intelligent eyewear and the connected Galaxy phone, helping optimize performance.

Intelligent eyewear also works with Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Buds. Users can manage the device directly from their wrist through the Galaxy Watch screen or with intuitive gestures.[5] When Galaxy Buds are connected, they can switch audio without interrupting the experience.

Q. How did you integrate privacy and trust into the design of intelligent eyewear?

As AI becomes more personal and integrated into everyday life, trust becomes even more important. That’s why privacy was built into intelligent eyewear from the beginning, with safeguards designed to protect users and those around them.

A bystander-facing LED indicator and an inner LED clearly show when recording is active. Wear detection automatically disables recording when the glasses are removed, while a thwart detection feature disables recording if the external LED indicator is blocked.

Users can also manage privacy and personalization settings through connected Galaxy phones. Their audio, video and screen-sharing data are not used to train AI models.

Samsung will continue to enhance its privacy features to give users greater transparency and control.

Q. What does intelligent eyewear represent for Samsung’s long-term vision?

Samsung has a long history of helping define new product categories — including foldables — and setting the standards consumers have come to expect from them. Intelligent eyewear is the next step in its vision to make AI more wearable, personal and seamlessly integrated into everyday life, but it is still only the beginning. With this first generation, Samsung aims to establish a new best-in-class benchmark for the emerging category and continue advancing it with each generation.

[1] Availability may vary depending on market. All functionalities, features, specifications and other product information provided in this document including, but not limited to, the benefits, design, components, performance, availability and capabilities of the product are subject to change without notice.

[2] Battery life varies by network environment, features and apps used, device settings, the number of times charged, and many other factors.

[3] Feature availability may require a network connection, compatible Galaxy device or supported app. Translation and navigation-related experiences may vary by language, region, app, service provider and network environment. Contextual and history-based experiences may require user permission, supported apps and compatible services.

[4] Live visual sharing and recording features may vary by app, service, market and applicable laws or consent requirements.

At Galaxy Unpacked 2026 in London, Samsung Electronics unveiled Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9, expanding the digital health experience on the wrist. From the moment users wake up to the time they finish a workout and begin recovery, a smartwatch stays in contact with the body throughout the day.

Samsung Newsroom got an early look at the new wearables during Galaxy Unpacked 2026 — from Galaxy Watch Ultra2, built for precise workout tracking and structured training in demanding environments, to Galaxy Watch9, designed for everyday health management spanning sleep, cardiovascular health, exercise and recovery.

▲ (From left) Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9

Galaxy Watch Ultra2: Adventure Without Limits

Combining top-tier performance with exceptional durability, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is optimised for high-intensity sports and outdoor activities.

Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the first Galaxy Watch powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon® Wear Elite Platform,[1] delivering fast performance and precise GPS tracking. Its 800mAh battery offers 35% more capacity than that of previous generations. The display reaches up to 5,000 nits of brightness — a first for a smartwatch — making on-screen information easy to read even under bright lighting[2].

▲ Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is available in a 47-millimetre size.

Comfort has also improved. The cushion design seamlessly integrates the display, bezel and body. Despite its larger battery, the watch is 12% thinner than the previous generation thanks to component optimisation and an internal redesign. The band is 26% lighter with a new air pocket structure, providing a secure yet comfortable fit.

▲ A slim profile provides lasting comfort.

Trail Run[3], a new feature exclusive to Galaxy Watch Ultra2, offers real-time insights including detailed elevation data, climbing progress and cumulative ascent and descent distance. With this information, users can gauge workout intensity and adjust their pace accordingly.

▲ Trail Run

Galaxy Watch Ultra2’s capabilities now extend beneath the surface. From the moment users enter the water, it automatically records depth, dive time and water temperature.

Backed by EN13319 certification for diving instruments, along with 10ATM water resistance and an IP69K rating for dust and water resistance, the device is engineered to support safe underwater activities[4]. Furthermore, in collaboration with global diving equipment brand Mares, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 will support advanced diving features — including real-time ascent and descent rates as well as safety decompression time.[5]

During workouts, users can take advantage of hydration guidance, newly added to Nutrition Alert[6]. Based on sweat loss relative to body weight, it calculates recommended fluid intake in real time to help users stay hydrated during extended exercise sessions.

▲ Hydration guidance

Galaxy Watch9: A Companion for Everyday Health

Galaxy Watch9 is designed to be an everyday companion for continuous health management. Its slimmer body and band with a new air pocket structure fit comfortably and securely around the wrist, making it ideal for all-day wear — from workouts to sleep.

Powered by the Snapdragon Wear Elite platform, Galaxy Watch9 features a 390mAh battery[7] with 20% more capacity than that of previous generations to support fast performance and consistent health monitoring throughout the day.

▲ (From left) Galaxy Watch9 comes in 40- and 44-millimetre sizes.

The Galaxy Watch series’ digital health experience is centred around the updated Samsung Health, an all-in-one health coach that brings together five core pillars — Activity, Mindfulness, Nutrition, Sleep and Vitals — in one place. By capturing signals from the body and presenting them at a glance, the app helps users stay ahead of their health.

▲ The five core pillars of Samsung Health

Key health metrics measured during sleep can be viewed at a glance in Vitals[8]. Using heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen saturation, Galaxy Watch9 establishes a personalised baseline to help identify meaningful changes in health.

Heart Health Score[9] provides an easy-to-understand snapshot of cardiovascular health by combining factors such as activity level, sleep, body composition and stress trends into a single score representing the user’s current condition.

Workout plans can also be tailored to fitness levels. Fitness Index[10] uses body composition and workout history to assess whether a user’s current exercise volume is appropriate, helping set individualised goals. On days with more intensive workouts, Daily Cardio Load helps users assess training balance and determine how much recovery time they need.

▲ Heart Health Score

Galaxy Watch Ultra2 excels in high-intensity training, while Galaxy Watch9 supports everyday health management. Together with enhanced hardware and Samsung Health, the next-generation Galaxy Watch series delivers a smarter, more personalised health experience.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today introduced its intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked in London. Building on the concepts announced at the latest Google

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today introduced its intelligent eyewear at Galaxy Unpacked in London. Building on the concepts announced at the latest Google I/O, the new designs were developed with global eyewear brands, Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. The intelligent eyewear shows how the Galaxy ecosystem can move beyond the mobile phone and into eyewear that supports daily routines, work, travel and hands-free moments.

What’s New:

Designed for everyday use, the eyewear pairs a lightweight frame and slim profile with the durability and comfort needed for daily wear.

Developed in collaboration with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker, the eyewear reflects each brand’s expertise in design, offering a range of frame styles, colours and lens options to suit different preferences and lifestyles.

“As agentic AI reshapes mobile experiences, the next step is to make those experiences more intuitive and responsive to each user’s context,” said Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Intelligent eyewear creates a new point of interaction, bringing more personalised AI assistance naturally into the moments that make up everyday life.”

Why it Matters

As AI enters an agentic era, the question is no longer only how intelligent it becomes, but where and how that intelligence meets people. Mobile phones remain at the center of connected experiences, while devices across the Galaxy ecosystem add context to different moments of daily life. Intelligent eyewear represents that next step, bringing AI closer to people as they move, work, communicate and explore, without requiring every interaction to begin with a screen.

Built for these moments, intelligent eyewear brings AI directly into the user’s line of sight, providing timely information and assistance while allowing them to stay engaged with the people, places and tasks around them. Clear controls and safeguards support responsible and secure use, while hands-free access delivers assistance naturally without requiring users to stop what they are doing or turn to another screen.

New Intelligent Eyewear Experience

Designed for everyday wear, the eyewear combines a lightweight frame, slim profile and battery performance, offering up to nine hours on a single charge with up to seven additional full charges from the charging case. [1] A built-in camera brings visual context into the AI experience, while Snapdragon® AR1 Gen1 [2] Platform supports the AI performance designed for real-time assistance, with touch interaction, connectivity, power efficiency and thermal management optimised within the eyewear’s compact frame.

As a hands-free extension of the Galaxy experience, the device lets users stay focused on the moment. Built in partnership with Google, it brings Gemini into a familiar wearable form factor, making interaction feel more natural, immediate and intuitive.

“Google and Samsung have a shared vision to bring helpful and context-aware intelligence into everyday life.” said Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google. “Built on the Android XR platform, the intelligent eyewear blends world-class designs with Gemini’s advanced assistance that naturally responds to what you see, delivering all-day, hands-free help. We’re excited to continue this momentum and bring this experience to people soon.”

Key experiences include:

Staying in the moment: The device can help summarise long messages, read key information aloud, support live translation and allow users to control the experience with simple voice or gesture interactions through connected devices.[3]

Capturing context: When prompted, the eyewear can capture what the user is seeing, such as a whiteboard or meeting discussion, organise key information in Notes, and make it easier to review, share and follow-up on later.[4]

Real-time interaction: Users can ask for guidance based on their location, such as finding a route, setting a destination or understanding what is around them, while live translation can support communication in another language. [5]

Context-aware assistance: The device can support more useful follow-up interactions by understanding the user’s current context and connecting relevant information across tasks, helping users continue where they left off with less repetition. [6]

Live visual sharing: Users can share what they are seeing during a call or record their own point of view, making communication more immediate while keeping their hands free. [7]

A More Personal Approach to Eyewear

Eyewear is both a functional product and a personal style statement. Samsung worked with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to create intelligent eyewear that balances thoughtful design, comfort and everyday wearability. By combining Samsung’s hardware craftsmanship with each brand’s distinctive design approach, the collaboration offers a broader range of styles to suit different preferences, lifestyles and occasions.

At Unpacked, Samsung introduced two distinct designs by: Gentle Monster and Warby Parker.

The Gentle Monster edition features a slim frame in black, pairing a straight upper rim with softly rounded lower edges to create a refined and fashion-forward silhouette. The Warby Parker style features a subtly upswept brow line in a rich brown hue, creating a refined, versatile shape perfect for everyday settings.

Throughout the design process, Samsung worked closely with the eyewear partners to refine key fit points such as the forehead and ears. These insights helped shape the final designs with enhanced comfort and everyday wearability. Fit considerations were tailored to each model, alongside durability and reliable performance.

[1]Battery life varies by network environment, features and apps used, device settings, the number of times charged, and may other factors.

[2]Snapdragon is a trademark or registered trademark of Qualcomm Incorporated. Snapdragon and Snapdragon branded products are products of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. and/or its subsidiaries.

[3]Feature availability of the features may require a network connection, compatible Galaxy device or supported app. Gesture interactions are only provided through Watch9

[4]Feature availability and supported workflows may vary. Samsung Notes integration and related actions may require compatible Samsung services and devices.

[5]Translation and navigation-related experiences may vary by language, region, app, service provider and network environment.

[6]Contextual and history-based experiences may require user permission, supported apps and compatible services.

[7]Live visual sharing and recording features may vary by app, service, market and applicable laws or consent requirements.

For anyone who relies on wireless earbuds on a daily basis, struggling to be heard on a phone call can be an all-too-familiar frustration. Whether you’re navigating a busy street or just dealing with ambient chatter, background noise can make clear communication nearly impossible.

When developing the new Galaxy Buds4 Pro, Samsung focused heavily on completely reimagining how an earbud captures and transmits the human voice. Their first objective was to develop a brand-new Sensor Fusion technology — ensuring a user’s speech can cut through the noise with absolute clarity.

What is Sensor Fusion and How Is it Important for Call Quality?

When it comes to taking calls, an earbud’s microphone is much farther from your mouth than a phone’s, making your voice highly susceptible to being drowned out by ambient noise. For traditional earbuds relying on a single sensor, this physical limitation often means compromised call quality, especially when ambient noise is louder than the user’s voice.

To overcome this, Samsung applied an environment-aware Sensor Fusion technology[1] for Galaxy Buds4 Pro. Instead of relying on one input, Samsung’s technology intelligently combines multiple sensors to recognize and adapt to the surrounding environment.

Buds4 Pro is equipped with three microphones — two external microphones directly capture a user’s voice, while a third internal microphone detects speech transmitted within the body. Importantly, a Voice Pickup Unit (VPU) sensor based on bone conduction also detects the head’s physical vibrations when a user speaks.

▲ A cutaway of Galaxy Buds4 Pro — three microphones and a VPU sensor work in harmony to precisely reconstruct voice data.

The voice data then activates a noise reduction algorithm that allows Buds4 Pro to precisely isolate and comprehensively reconstruct the user’s voice from surrounding noise with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring clear communication even in the most chaotic environments.

How Sophisticated Is the Buds4 Pro’s Noise Reduction Algorithm?

An AI-based system called a Deep Neural Network (DNN) — modelled loosely on the structure of the human brain — serves as the core noise reduction technology within Buds4 Pro’s sensor fusion architecture. Typically, software this powerful requires massive computing power that simply cannot fit inside a tiny earbud. However, Samsung meticulously optimised its algorithm for on-device processing, slashing the processing load to roughly 10% of the original computational requirements and shrinking the model size to just 30%, successfully bringing powerful AI voice processing to a compact earbud form factor.

But blocking noise isn’t enough to guarantee true call clarity — the earbuds must also make sure your voice sounds natural. To do that, Buds4 Pro analyses past, present and predictive sound data to instantly adapt to rapidly changing environments. Samsung also upgraded its algorithm to capture 16 times more vocal detail than previous models. Because of this massive boost in precision, every part of your speech — from high-pitched tones to sharp consonants and subtle word endings — remains crisp and easy to understand, no matter how loud your environment gets.

Buds4 Pro even accounts for natural body movements that can cause the earbuds to shift, causing ‘fit leakages’ that allow unwanted background noise to seep in. To counter this, Buds4 Pro continuously analyses signals from the inner and outer microphones to estimate leakage in real time, dynamically adjusting the audio to keep the call crystal clear.

Furthermore, Buds4 Pro’s superior DNN-powered voice clarity is truly maximised when paired with a Galaxy smartphone, harnessing a Super Wideband (SWB) connection of up to 16 kHz[2] to deliver exceptionally rich and natural voice quality.

https://img.global.news.samsung.com/uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Video-Example.mp4

▲ Before-and-after audio compares voice clarity with and without Galaxy Buds4 Pro’s noise reduction algorithm.

How was Buds4 Pro’s Call Quality Tested for the Real World?

To ensure Buds4 Pro delivers exceptional call quality[3] in the real world, Samsung brought the real world into the lab using massive wind generators to recreate acoustic scenarios based on actual location recordings.

▲ This image is AI-generated and is for illustrative purposes only. It depicts a lab used to test the technology behind Galaxy Buds4 Pro’s crystal-clear calls.

In addition to lab testing, Samsung conducted extensive field tests in the noisiest everyday environments including bustling cafes, loud department stores and echoing train stations. They even tested call quality while walking outdoors late at night and riding in cars with the windows rolled down — all to perfect the earbuds’ performance in truly authentic, real-world scenarios.

Ultimately, Galaxy Buds4 Pro proves relentless engineering and technological innovation can shatter the physical limitations of true wireless earbuds. By merging an intricate sensor fusion technology with highly optimised algorithms — and validating it through exhaustive real-world testing — Galaxy Buds4 Pro offers an unprecedented level of call clarity, helping you find your voice, anywhere.

[1] Supported on Galaxy Buds Live and subsequent models.
[2] Ultra-high-quality audio up to 24-bit/96kHz’ is available on selected Galaxy smartphones and tablets with One UI 6.1.1 or above.
[3] Super Clear Call is available on selected Galaxy smartphones and tablets with One UI 6.1.1 or above..

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced a major update to the Samsung Health app, transforming the upcoming Galaxy Watch into a proactive, intelligent health partner. Starting June 8, Samsung will begin rolling out the app update to showcase the key health features included in the upcoming Galaxy Watch. The update makes daily health management effortless by translating complex biometric data — from overnight sleep to daily activity — into simple, actionable guidance.

“Samsung Health is evolving to connect health data measured by Galaxy Watch with AI-based insights, enabling users to understand their physical and mental condition more easily and intuitively,” said Hon Pak, Senior Vice President and Head of the Digital Health Team for the Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung Electronics will continue to expand proactive and personalised health management experiences based on the connected Galaxy ecosystem and digital health innovations.”

This advancement is a key milestone in Samsung’s overarching vision for a truly AI-powered health platform designed to help users stay ahead of their health. The newly announced health features will first be available on the upcoming Galaxy Watch.

Features Transforming Galaxy Watch into an Intelligent Health Partner

The Samsung Health update comes with the following features:

Vitals: A Better Understanding of the Body’s Signals[1] — Previously, Samsung Health monitored specific health metrics to help measure users’ daily Energy Score. Now, Samsung Health is taking this a step further. When users wake up, the new Vitals feature analyses five key overnight bio-signals — heart rate, heart rate variability, respiratory rate, skin temperature and blood oxygen — against their true resting baseline. It sends notifications only when it detects meaningful deviations, helping users determine if they need more rest or are fighting an illness, without causing alert fatigue.

Heart Health Score: Improved Long-Term Wellness[1] — Last year, Samsung introduced Vascular Load to help users monitor vascular stress and adopt a more holistic approach to health. Today, that vision evolves into the Heart Health Score. This single daily metric takes the insights previously found in Vascular Load — such as sleep, stress and activity — and combines them with body composition data. The result is a unified score that clearly identifies the habits impacting users’ long-term well-being, giving them immediate clarity on their heart health.

Daily Cardio Load: Smarter Cardiovascular Training — When users are deciding how hard to push during aerobic exercise, Daily Cardio Load measures accumulated cardiovascular strain. By calculating daily load and maximum training capacity, it recommends optimal training targets and rest times to ensure users reach their goals without risking burnout or injury.

Fitness Index: Seamless Progress Tracking — The Fitness Index ensures exercise routines are working by analysing metrics like heart rate, VO2 max (a key measure of aerobic fitness) and daily steps against users’ peers. By clearly identifying individual physical strengths and weaknesses, it delivers tailored content and personalised goals so users can make continuous, targeted improvements.

New Samsung Health Design for a Simplified, Personal Experience

To make these proactive insights easy to find, Samsung Health introduces a streamlined layout organised into five core pillars: Sleep, Activity, Nutrition, Mindfulness and Vitals. Within the Home screen, users can now easily access their daily wellness tips alongside their AI-powered Energy Score. This centralised view removes guesswork from health management, allowing users to quickly understand how different aspects of their routine interconnect at a single glance.

Upgraded Capabilities for Proactive Wellness

Samsung Health is also significantly advancing the core features users already rely on, delivering deeper personalisation with greater precision. As users navigate their day, Antioxidant Index[2] now provides an even clearer roadmap of their nutritional intake. With new trend charts and daily history logs, it visually connects users’ dietary choices to physical responses over time.

Behind the scenes, the AGEs index has been enhanced to quietly work in the background, capturing automatic overnight measurements to build a long-term picture of how lifestyle choices accumulate in users’ bodies. This helps users uncover health insights that truly matter for their well-being.

Comprehensive wellness extends to external environments, as well, with Samsung offering a brand-new Hearing Health feature that integrates seamlessly across the Galaxy ecosystem. By monitoring surrounding ambient noise through Galaxy Watch, it delivers personalised analytics to help protect the user’s ears — whether they are on a loud commute or dialing up the music during a workout.

Together, these advanced refinements and new ecosystem-connected features turn everyday data into simple, practical guidance, setting the perfect stage for the future of Samsung Health.

A Seamlessly Connected Health Ecosystem

Samsung’s expansive ecosystem unlocks the true power of these new features, seamlessly managing health across users’ Galaxy mobile phones and connected devices. This frictionless integration ensures that personalised insights are always accessible, providing a unified view of user well-being.

These advancements offer a glimpse into the future of Samsung Health — a future that will be fully realised with the launch of Samsung’s next generation of Galaxy Watches, engineered to bring this proactive intelligence to life like never before.

[1] New health features are for wellness only, not for the diagnosis or treatment of any medical condition. If concerned about health, be sure to see a medical professional. Available on Android phones (Android 10 or above) and requires the Samsung Health app (v7.0 or above). Samsung account login required. Certain features may require user activity and data accumulation over time to enable personalised results. Feature availability, supported devices, and rollout timing may vary by market, model, and other factors and are subject to change.

[2] Requires a Galaxy smartphone running Android 11+ and Samsung Health App (V6. 30.2 or above). Samsung Account login required.
