Bespoke AI Enhances AI Capabilities

Samsung’s latest Bespoke AI appliances have taken AI features to a new level, offering a better living experience in both the kitchen and other spaces:

LONDON, UK – Dec. 19, 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that it is bringing its advanced screen technology to a broader range of home appliances, representing a bold step forward in realising its “Screens Everywhere” vision. This year, Samsung is upgrading the kitchen experience by launching a refrigerator with a new 9” AI Home^[1] screen^[2]. Screen options are being widened for consumers in the laundry category as well, with the 7” AI Home applied to the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo now being included in the newly launching Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set. Samsung is showcasing these new products at the upcoming CES 2025.

Diversifying Bespoke Refrigerators With a New, Compact Screen and Enhanced Features

By offering a diverse selection of products with varying screen sizes, Samsung aims to enhance usability for consumers while also realising an interconnected smart home. Supporting voice control via Bixby^[3], the screens on Samsung appliances showcase essential information about the task such as internal temperature or washing cycle information, in an intuitive and straightforward way. Moreover, the Map View feature is a key differentiator, allowing the screens to function as simplified, convenient control hubs where users can monitor and control their connected appliances^[4] from a single screen. Lastly, the screens provide various entertainment features through internet connection, expanding the roles played by home appliances within the domestic environment.^[5]

In the kitchen, to complement the existing 21.5” Family Hub^[6] refrigerator, Samsung is unveiling the Bespoke Refrigerator with 9” AI Home, which caters to consumers seeking the Family Hub’s advanced features in a more compact size. Strengthening its role as a controlling hub, the updated Map View allows users to select modes for connected devices⁴ like the robot vacuum^[7], and can be accessed directly from the home screen. Moreover, the 9” AI Home also functions as a hub for controlling third-party smart devices that are compatible with SmartThings, like lights and smart plugs^[8]. Expanding Screen Options Across Various Product Categories

As an expansion of the availability of the AI Home screens in laundry products, Samsung is introducing the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo’s 7” AI Home screen to this year’s new Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set. London, United Kingdom – Sept. 5, 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced it is showcasing its latest energy-efficient appliance lineup at IFA 2024. The new product range includes a BESPOKE AI Washer with A-55% extra energy efficiency,^[1] a Bespoke AI Laundry Combo that achieves an A rating for the complete cycle,^[2] and an A-10% Bespoke Dishwasher^[3]. Drawing on its longstanding dedication to enhancing energy efficiency, Samsung has improved its core technologies to offer better ways to save energy in everyday life.

A More Efficient Washing Experience

The most notable achievement out of Samsung’s high-energy rating lineup at IFA 2024 is the BESPOKE AI Washer. The model, due to launch next year^[4], consumes up to 55% less energy than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for a Class A rating.^[5] Following the A-40% model that launched in the first half this year, the new product has applied Samsung’s technologies to achieve an additional energy saving.

Samsung applies advanced technologies to achieve up to 55% less energy consumption than the minimum energy efficiency requirements for the Class A rating. The core of these advanced technologies is the Bubble Shot, which pulls soapy water through the circulation pump and sprays it on top of the laundry inside the drum. This makes washing more effective by drenching the laundry more easily and allowing the detergent to penetrate clothing evenly. It combines with Ecobubble and algorithms to enhance extra energy efficiency.

The implementation of AI Home^[6] is an additional noteworthy change. This 7’’ wide LCD touchscreen on the device serves as an intuitive control center for the laundry. Not only can users quickly choose their laundry cycle, they can also receive the personalised washing recommendations that suits their habits and periodic needs.^[7] It allows for effective user control and laundry care.

All-in-one, Energy Efficient Laundry Solution

At IFA, Samsung is also displaying the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, which will soon be available in the European market. The model combines a washer and a dryer in a single machine freeing users from the hassle of transferring the load to the dryer after washing. The combo is distinctive in that there is significant improvement in energy efficiency, achieving an A rating across the entire washing and drying cycle,^[8] with an A-20% for washing^[9]This is the highest level in Samsung’s combo lineup in Europe.

Samsung has worked hard to improve the drying efficiency especially. The Heatpump Drying technology dries clothes quickly, gently and efficiently at low temperatures. Furthermore, a specially designed duct structure improves the efficiency of internal air circulation, allowing for the efficient reuse and transfer of heat energy. Meanwhile, to achieve a high energy rating in the wash only cycle, the Bubble Shot Technology is implemented. It make the laundry drench well by spraying soapy water from the top using the circulation pump. As a result, the combo’s complete wash cycle exceeds the minimum energy efficiency requirements for the Class A threshold by up to 20%, with the wash and dry cycle receiving a well-deserved Class A.

Clean Effectively, Save More Energy 

The Bespoke Dishwasher^[10] with extra energy efficiency will be also displayed at IFA 2024. It not only boasts a stylish look with its Kitchen Fit Sliding Door^[11] design that seamlessly matches kitchen furniture, but also offers effective performance while saving energy by up to 10% than the requirements for an A energy rating.^[12]

A WaterJet Clean and an Active Fan Dry system play an important role in delivering this extra efficiency. First, WaterJet Clean delivers intensive cleaning from every angle with rotating dual wash arms, thanks to the specially designed All-in-one Sump module.^[13] It generates a unique flow path to make the product exceptionally power efficient and uses only 7.9 liters^[14] of water ― which is a significantly low level compared to conventional models^[15] ― without impacting its performance.

The Active Fan Dry system,^[16] on the other hand, enhances internal air circulation, leading to less energy consumption. It blows gentle and moderate wind using two fans on the walls of the tub during drying. Since this wind helps evaporate moisture, less latent heat is required from the rinsing water. Therefore, it reduces the amount of energy used for heating the rinsing water. As a result, users can neatly finish the cycle with enhanced energy efficiency.

Additional Energy Savings Through SmartThings Connectivity

With these advancements in hardware, Samsung’s new energy efficient lineup also support SmartThings AI Energy Mode.^[17] After connecting appliances to SmartThings, users can check daily, weekly and monthly power consumption. And when the estimated monthly electricity bill exceeds the targeted amount, they can activate AI Energy Mode through SmartThings app to proactively save energy. Through using the cycles that work with AI Energy Mode, the BESPOKE AI Washer can reduce energy usage by up to 70%^[18].

Visitors at IFA 2024 ― held in Berlin from September 6 to 10 ― will be able to see Samsung’s new energy efficient appliances at Samsung booth. The Bespoke AI Laundry Combo is set to launch in the UK in the fourth quarter this year, with ranging updates on the wider product range to be announced.

This year’s booth centers on Samsung’s sustainability efforts while also spotlighting several new and exciting design collaborations.
