• Accept that routines change – I know it might be harder to get out for a run this time of year and I just accept that. Instead, I try and pick a couple of things I want to do a day and that’s it, I don’t beat myself up about it. 
• Take it easy on yourself – Being in charge of Christmas is a lot of pressure. I try and remind myself Christmas will be fun no matter what happens.

LONDON, UK – 2nd December 2022 – With Christmas party season just around the corner, research reveals the nation’s biggest fails when it comes to washing their party clothes, from accidentally washing items on a higher temperature and shrinking them (48%), to mixing and spoiling colours (48%).

The study by Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. found that 44% of people aged 25-34 are planning on going to a Christmas party this year, but this age group are not confident in getting stains out of their festive outfits by hand washing the garment (31%) or taking it to the dry cleaners (20%). Top food and drink UK adults avoid at Christmas parties to avoid stains include festive favourites, such as red wine (28%), gravy (16%) and cranberry sauce (15%). Other foods on the list also include beetroot (30%), berries (15%) and coffee (12%).

One in three (33%) UK adults aged 25-34 have a spare party outfit, such as a little black dress, on standby which they pull out and pop on for last-minute get togethers. Fabrics that the nation would be worried about knowing how to clean or get stains out of include silk (32%), suede (32%) and velvet (25%), followed by satin (23%) and wool (20%). And the most likely reasons for having to clean a party outfit include a spilled drink (17%), food (11%) and make-up (8%) stains.

To overcome these issues, Samsung Electronics Ltd. has partnered with leading fashion expert, Olivia Miller, to share the best ways to avoid any party outfit mishaps.

Olivia Millers ‘top tips’ on party outfits and how best to launder your clothes to get them party-ready:

1. To prevent make-up transfer, spray hairspray on any clothing that touches close to your face, for example the collar, wait 15-20 minutes before putting the clothing item on and make-up will no longer stick or transfer!
2. The top three foods or drinks that UK adults would avoid on a night out if they were going to a party, in fear that it would stain their outfit are: Beetroot, Red Wine and Tomato Ketchup. Luckily stains from all of these can be removed (even if they are stubborn), the key is to treat a wine stain immediately if possible and do not dry or add heat to the garment until the stain is completely removed, or else the stains will shrink into the fibres, making it difficult for stain removers to dilute and work their magic! What’s more, a steam function on a washing machine helps to kill any bacteria and germs left behind, whilst many washing machines are now equipped with the clever ability to work out how much detergent is needed depending on how dirty your clothes are which is ideal in this scenario.
3. Be sure to always check the label for washing instructions and use the correct setting on your washing machine. I opt for the delicate garments setting, always wash the item inside out and use a mesh laundry bag for protection. A super speedy wash is always an option for those items that simply need a quick refresh and ensure you wash on a cold setting to avoid any shrinking of clothes, whilst also saving energy.

4. To prevent fake tan transfer on clothes, use talcum powder around areas like the armpits, backs of knees, under the bra or any tight pieces of clothing. If you do stain clothes with fake tan, act fast and soak with a stain removal treatment (overnight if possible) and then launder as normal in your washing machine on the most appropriate setting.

LONDON, UK, 30 November 2022 – With the festive season upon us, new research from Samsung Electronics UK has revealed that the nation has no intention to put down their TV remotes and have crowned their ultimate Christmas TV moment.

The Only Fools and Horses ‘Batman and Robin’ episode has been named the greatest festive TV moment of all time; the poll of 2,000 adults found the hilarious moment from 1996 where Del Boy and Rodney unknowingly prevent a crime – while dressed as the dynamic duo – is top of the tree.

Second place went to another moment from the Peckham-based sitcom – when Del finally becomes a millionaire. The ‘Walking in the Air’ moment from The Snowman came third, while Geraldine’s sprouts ordeal from The Vicar of Dibley came fourth. And Andre Previn playing ‘all the right notes’ on 1971’s Morecambe & Wise Christmas Show secured fifth spot.

The study found 48% believe festive TV is one of the best things about the holidays, with nearly three-quarters (74%) attesting they enjoy or love festive television. As such, those polled will watch 10 hours of TV in total from Christmas Eve through to Boxing Day.

While festive telly is an integral part of the holidays for many families, 30% admit agreeing what to watch tends to lead to disagreements such is the extensive choice. When looking at the exact moment things may begin to get a bit elfish, the research found 5:05pm was the exact moment on average when disputes would crop up.

Disgruntled family members have named helping with the dishes (20%), clearing up wrapping paper/packaging (18%) and having to watch what you don’t watch on the TV (15%) as the biggest blockers to enjoying Christmas day.

Monday 20th December 2021 LONDON, UK – With this Christmas being the first time in two years that we will celebrate the festive season with extended family and friends, a new study^[1] reveals over a third (38%) of Brits admit to feeling ‘out of practice’.

Commissioned by Samsung KX, the research reveals the conversation topics we’re dreading this Christmas and the most awkward moments of the festive season.

Almost a quarter of the nation don’t enjoy small talk over the festive period, with 41 per cent feeling ‘awkward’ and ‘embarrassed’ when being quizzed on their love life and 15 per cent admitting they get uncomfortable when answering questions about their career too.

However, Brits are still looking forward to the Christmas season, with festive favourites including tucking into the turkey (51%), watching Christmas movies (41%) and opening presents (36%) coming out top.

Samsung KX has partnered with comedian and TikTok star Abi Clarke, who entertained the nation throughout lockdown with her relatable comedy sketches, to bring to life some of our most awkward Christmas conversations.

Other eye-rolling topics include ‘when are you going to have a baby’ and ‘why aren’t you married?’.

And those polled are in a festive fret with good reason, as over half (57%) said they get asked the same questions every year. When it comes to the topics we’d rather avoid, sex topped the list (39%), followed by love life (31%), politics (29%) and money (28%). And a fifth (21%) of respondents would rather leave Covid-19 chats behind over the festive season, too.

Samsung’s research further reveals that over half of Brits (51%) are taking a risk with the roast by cooking different items on the same settings, despite recipes stating otherwise. But sacrificing the succulence of the sausages or scolding the stuffing is unavoidable for some households, with 47% saying they don’t have a choice but to cook on the same setting due to lack of oven space. Forty-three per cent also cite lack of time as a factor. The alternative option is cooking things one at a time, with 53% saying a roast dinner relay is the only option. But whichever method families choose, it’s clear that lack of oven space can make for a ‘stress-tive’ Christmas.

Avoid the stress and prep for success

To help deal with our seasonal stress, Samsung has partnered with renowned Cognitive Behavioural, Psychodynamic & EMDR Practitioner, Dr Becky Spelman, who explains the important role food plays in bringing people together and making memories at Christmas.

“We share food and flavours with those we love as a way of having a common experience that brings us together in mutual pleasure,” Dr Spellman says. “Also, because eating is so sensory it creates extremely vivid memories, which is why the familiar Christmas dinner has become so important. For many it brings back happy memories from years gone by. Inevitably though, this places increased pressure on the chef due to the high level of expectation. Feeling anxious about preparing Christmas dinner is totally normal. The best way to counteract the pressure it is to take steps that help you to feel organised and in control of the process. Whether that’s keeping a list of cooking timings, delegating certain tasks to others or investing in Smart home appliances such as the Samsung Dual Cook Flex or Samsung Family Hub (both of which you can control remotely via your mobile phone or tablet, via the Samsung SmartThings App).”

Fortunately, there are steps Brits can take to prep for the big day and many already have coping mechanisms in place. Forty percent do the food shopping well in advance and over a third (35%) prep the veggies ahead of time. When it comes to storing the food, over a quarter (27%) organise the fridge and one in ten clean it the day before the festive feast.
