LONDON, U.K. Sept. 19 2024: Samsung has today launched Found In Translation, its hunt to find a new ‘Galaxy AI Champion’ who will be offered the chance to put its Galaxy AI to the test on their next travel adventure.

New research from Samsung has revealed that 69% of British holidaymakers[1] admit their experiences abroad would be improved if they could communicate better with locals. To help address this, Samsung will invite the chosen traveller to plan their ultimate adventure, blog about their journey, and experience Galaxy AI in action.

In partnership with Emily in Paris star Samuel Arnold, who finds himself frequently travelling the globe, Samsung has also launched a travel hub for would-be adventurers where they can find more information on how to secure the role and how AI can improve their travel experiences.

The travel hub also features a new video starring Samuel in which he travels across Europe, bringing to life the Galaxy AI features.

The Galaxy AI Champion will be equipped with a tech bundle including the new Galaxy Z Flip6, as well as a travel fund, so they can shape their own unique holiday.

When planning their journey, the Galaxy AI Champion will be able to scour social media for travel inspiration, using Circle to Search with Google[2] to identify everything from dream destinations to the local dishes.

While on their trip, Interpreter[3] will allow them to communicate with locals to discover hidden gems only true natives know about. On the Galaxy Z Flip6, they can use the new conversation mode that enables both parties to conveniently view translations on the main and cover screens for an easy conversation.

They can use Live Translate[4] to book their itinerary over the phone – from local restaurant bookings to excursions and can capture their holiday in stunning detail using the 50MP camera on their new Galaxy Z Flip6 and edit their pictures to remove any pesky photobombers using Photo Assist[5].

Samuel Arnold, actor and Emily In Paris star, said: “Experiencing different cultures and getting lost in new destinations is good for the soul. I’m thrilled to be partnering with Samsung to give someone the opportunity to make their travel dreams come true. The Galaxy AI Champion will be able to throw themselves into their adventures, knowing that features like Live Translate and Circle to Search will be there to assist them every step of the way.”

Samsung is inviting anyone from the U.K. to enter to be the Galaxy AI Champion. All candidates need to do is head to the Samsung travel hub where they[6] will find details of how to enter – alongside holiday hot-picks from Samuel Arnold and travel expert and Founder of Girls Who Travel, Brontë King.

Found In Translation comes as Samsung’s new research reveals that over a third (44%) of Brits struggle to ask for directions, understand local customs (23%) and even (29%) order food – with over half of travellers (60%) admitting to pointing at menus! Live Translate and Interpreter can effortlessly solve this in real-time – meaning no more lost in translation moments.

The research also found that language difficulties mean people stick to the comfort of tourist traps, with almost three-quarters (69%) of Europeans saying they would experience more hidden gems if they could speak to locals and almost a fifth (18%) admitting they’ve been put off travelling to bucket-list destinations because they can’t speak the local language.

There is huge appetite amongst jet-setters to chase adventures, as 55% admit they use social media to discover new destinations, hidden gems and unique travel experiences. Circle to Search makes tracking these down seamless, as it allows users to quickly search for information on their screen by using a simple gesture. With just one swoop of the finger, the results will show exactly where they can find their desired locations, souvenirs or dishes.

Taking the perfect photo on your travels is important for capturing memories. Young people agree, with 22% of 18-34 year olds saying their holiday photos have been ruined by people they don’t know in the background. Photo Assist goes beyond basic tweaks, allowing travellers to effortlessly edit photos so the picture-perfect memories live on forever.

LONDON, UK – Tuesday 6th February 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd: To commemorate the launch of the Galaxy S24 Series, Samsung challenged runners to run the Circle line. In a transformative collaboration, the world-famous Tube Map, which was designed by Harry Beck in 1933, has been reimagined into a circle, to more clearly emphasise the Circle line. The temporary redesign champions the new Circle to Search with Google feature – a new tool on the Galaxy S24 device.

Guided by running virtuoso Jonny Davies, the long-distance professional who grew his social media stride by conquering each tube line in consecutive days, and #TeamGalaxy’s Warren Whitely, 100 members of the Samsung community embarked on the 24.8km run of the ‘Circle to Search’ line. Also supporting the pair on the day was Savannah Sachdev, bringing her infectious energy to this trio of running excellence.

Equipped with the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Warren and Jonny led the community around the 24 tube stations, with pitstops for participants to get hands-on with the device. During the run, they tested out the new Circle to Search with Google feature[1] – a new tool on the Galaxy S24 Series where users can instantly search anything they see on their phone, without switching apps.

Sporting bespoke outfits with branding from the TfL collaboration, the 100-people cohort captured the attention of people across the city as they took on this challenge, which resulted in over 1 million impressions on social media.

LONDON, UK – January 31st, 2024 – The iconic Harry Beck Tube Map has been reimagined for the first time in over 90 years, as part of a new partnership between Transport for London (TfL) and Samsung, to promote the Circle to Search with Google feature on the newly launched Samsung Galaxy S24.

In a transformative collaboration, the world-famous Tube Map, which was designed by Harry Beck in 1933, has been reimagined into a circle to more clearly emphasise the Circle line. The temporary redesign champions the new Circle to Search with Google feature – a new tool on the Galaxy S24 device where users can instantly search anything you see on your phone, without switching apps. It can quickly help you find a recipe for something delicious you saw on social or where to buy the shirt someone’s wearing in a photo by drawing a simple gesture with the S Pen or finger.

As part of the two-week collaborative takeover, the limited-edition map, which has been designed to work as a functional map of the Tube network, will be on display on Circle line platforms at five stations: King’s Cross, Blackfriars, Westminster, Liverpool Street, Paddington. While not replacing the current Tube map, it shows all 11 London Underground lines, and also temporarily shows the Circle line as the ‘Circle to Search’ line.

Annika Bizon, Director of Marketing, Omnichannel & Head of Ireland – MX Division said: “We’re thrilled to partner with Transport for London to bring our new technology to life for people across the capital with this exciting redesign of the iconic TfL Tube map.

“The launch of the Galaxy S24 Series with the new Circle to Search with Google feature marks a new era of mobile experience for Samsung, and we’re proud to commemorate the devices going on sale today with this activation.”

Emma Strain, Customer Director at Transport for London (TfL) said: “We’re delighted to partner with Samsung on this exciting reimagining of our iconic map for the first time in 90 years. Partnerships like this help us and brands engage with hundreds of thousands of people who pass through our stations every day.”

The Kings Cross advertising takeover will be the largest of its kind at one of the busiest Tube stations in London, reaching everyone who travels through the station over the campaign period. The two glass entrances at Victoria Underground station will also be creatively wrapped with the limited-edition map, as well as feature bespoke roundels highlighting the Circle to Search line to further promote the partnership.

The partnership, activated by media agency Starcom and creative marketing agency Iris, and booked via Global, the Media and Entertainment Group, will be live from the 31st of January to the 13th of February with a potential footfall of 11.7 million across the stations it’s being activated in during this time. With promotion across 100+ advertising sites, the media campaign is set to deliver 152 million+ out-of-home advertising impacts.

In tandem with the TfL activation, Samsung is introducing ‘Samsung Circle the City’ – an above-ground running route following the Circle Line to amplify the Galaxy S24’s Circle to Search with Google, with members of its community set to take on the challenge on the 3rd of February.

While some maps on platforms will be changed to this limited-edition design, there will still be traditional Harry Beck maps available in the station and in-train announcements, announcements within the stations and staff on platforms will continue to help customers should they require it.

While the map has evolved since Harry Beck’s original map in 1933, as new stations, lines and facilities are added – this is the first time TfL has produced an official map for its network that differs from the Beck design.
