When shopping for a new phone, you’ve probably read reviews and watched comparison videos in search of the “best” device.

While rankings can be helpful, they can’t answer the most important question: which phone is best for me? That answer depends on personal considerations like how you prefer to work, create, and stay connected throughout your day.

Why Does Samsung Offer Multiple Foldable Form Factors?

The best foldable isn’t the same for everyone. That’s exactly why Samsung offers three distinct foldable designs with the new Galaxy Z series.

Whether you want to consolidate with a single mobile device that can power through your to-do list, a screen built for streaming and reading, or looking for something more compact and convenient, Galaxy Z series has options.

Through eight generations of refinement, Samsung understands what users want most from foldables. The new Galaxy Z series is the result of all that experience. Every device delivers in the areas users care about most: displays, durability, portability, and performance.

Which Galaxy Z Foldable Is Right for You?

The latest Galaxy Z series offers a range of innovative foldable form factors, the compact Galaxy Z Flip8, the brand-new Galaxy Z Fold8, and the powerful Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.

Deciding which is right for you ultimately depends on what you want from your smartphone experience, and how your phone fits into your life.

Choose Galaxy Z Flip8 if you want:

The slimmest and lightest Z Flip device from Samsung

An experience built around self-expression and capturing the best selfies

Everyday convenience for quick tasks without opening your phone

Choose Galaxy Z Fold8 if you’re looking for:

A new foldable shape designed for modern content formats

An immersive viewing experience for watching, reading, and gaming

Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet

Choose Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra if you prioritise:

Samsung’s top-of the line experience reserved for Ultra devices

Multitasking on an expansive 8-inch folding main screen[1]

Productivity and flagship performance

The most versatile and capable camera system in the Galaxy Z series

Across the lineup, the durability of the Galaxy Z series is complemented by Galaxy’s latest mobile AI[2] experiences and software optimized for each form factor, giving you a bespoke experience built around each unique design.

The best phone is the one that fits your life, and Samsung Galaxy’s portfolio is designed to help you find it. From the Galaxy Z TriFold introduced earlier this year to the latest Galaxy Z series, Samsung is committed to evolving its foldable portfolio to meet a wide range of needs and lifestyles.

[1] Measured diagonally, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra’s Cover Screen size is 6.5” in the full rectangle and 6.5” accounting for the rounded corners. The Main Screen size is 8.0” in the full rectangle and 8.0” accounting for the rounded corners; actual viewable area is smaller due to the rounded corners and camera hole

[2] Galaxy AI basic features provided by Samsung are free. Any Samsung enhanced AI features and all third-party AI features are subject to different terms and may be subject to fees.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra may be most recognisable for its 8-inch folding main display, but the device’s real benefit is more than simply having a larger screen.

Building on established Galaxy tools such as Multi Window[1] and Samsung DeX, new context-aware experiences for foldables such as Now Nudge[2] help keep more of a task visible and make it easier to move from one step to the next without constantly switching apps. Whether you’re researching, planning a trip, or editing content, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra adapts to the way you work, helping you accomplish more from a single device.

Why Is Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra Good for Productivity?

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra can transition from its 6.5-inch cover screen to its expansive 8-inch main screen[3] without losing your place. Start with an app while the device is folded, then open it to continue right where you left off with more room to examine a photo, comfortably review a spreadsheet, or work across supported apps side by side.

The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy[4], 5,000 mAh battery[5], and expanded graphite cooling structure help keep the device responsive during demanding multitasking, content creation, and AI-powered tasks. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is like a mobile workspace that can adapt to the task at hand.

How Do I Use Multiple Apps at Once?

Multi Window lets you run supported apps side by side on the main screen. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra supports two-way and three-way split view, and you can resize the individual windows to suit your task. Check your calendar while replying to a message, search the web while reviewing a presentation, or use a calculator while reviewing your budget. You can also open supported apps in pop-up view when you want a movable, resizable window over your existing workspace.

You can even quickly access frequently used apps from the Taskbar at the bottom of the main screen, like you would on a tablet. If you regularly use the same apps together — such as Calendar and Messages — you can save them as an app pair and reopen the combination in split view with one tap.

What is Now Nudge and How Does it Work?

With Now Nudge, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra automatically recognises what you’re doing and proactively suggest what you might want to do next. For example, if you’re messaging about meeting up with a friend for dinner, it might suggest adding it to your calendar. When you tap to open your calendar app, the conversation stays visible on one side of your screen, helping you move forward without losing context or manually switching between windows.

What Is Samsung DeX and How Does It Work on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

Samsung DeX makes it possible to use Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra in a desktop-like workspace. Connect a monitor, keyboard, and mouse[6] to work across multiple apps in resizable windows, use a desktop-style taskbar and navigate with a cursor for a complete mobile workstation.

The New Galaxy Z Series: Three Distinct Foldable Experiences

Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and consumer insight, the new Galaxy Z series gives users more choice than ever, with three distinct experiences engineered to fit different needs.

Galaxy Z Fold8 introduces a fresh form factor built around the way people explore, discover and immerse themselves in their favourite content. Its display ratios are designed to move naturally with users throughout the day – from quick interactions like messaging, browsing and short-form video on the wider cover screen to more immersive viewing, reading and gaming on the 4:3 main display.

With Gemini Notebook, users can bring together notes, images, recordings, files, and documents in one workspace to collect, organise, and develop their ideas. At just 201g, it is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, while Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology helps support a slimmer display structure with lasting durability and reduced crease visibility over time.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra brings Galaxy’s renowned Ultra standard to foldables, combining a larger workspace with an upgraded camera system and performance built for demanding creative workflows. Its expansive 8-inch main display opens up more room for multitasking, while Now Nudge[1];helps users move from conversation to action by suggesting relevant next steps across supported apps.

The 200 MP main camera now supports High Dynamic Range (HDR) in 200 MP mode for richer detail, colour and clarity. A new 50 MP ultra-wide camera adds greater flexibility for wider scenes and macro shots, helping users capture more from one device.

Across Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8 and Z Flip8, Dual Recording captures both the action and the user’s reaction, while My FanCam[2] automatically tracks and reframes a selected subject.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra also features a 5,000 mAh battery[3], 45W Super Fast Charging 2.0[4] and an expanded graphite cooling structure – all in Galaxy’s slimmest Z Fold design yet, measuring just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighing 215g.

Galaxy Z Flip8, Samsung’s sleekest Flip ever released, is built for expression and quick interaction on the go. Its reimagined FlexWindow brings apps, insights, actions and assistance directly to the cover screen. Now Brief[5] surfaces personalised information based on users’ schedules, routines and interests.

Users can also access Gemini from the FlexWindow through side-key activation or natural voice requests, making it easier to complete connected actions on the go.

Galaxy Z Flip8 further enhances Samsung’s signature Flip camera experience with a 50 MP camera, ProVisual Engine and FlexCam experiences that make it easier to capture, preview and share polished photos and videos from flexible angles.

On July 22 at Galaxy Unpacked July 2026, Samsung Electronics introduced Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, Galaxy Z Flip8, Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9.

From foldables to smartwatches, Samsung’s latest Galaxy devices take different forms but share the same design philosophy — comfort.

Samsung Newsroom spoke with Hubert Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of the Design Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, to hear how this approach shaped the new lineup.

▲Hubert Lee

Q. What were the key design considerations for this year’s Galaxy foldable lineup?

Today’s Galaxy devices are faster and more powerful than ever. We considered how we could go one step further to deliver a more natural and comfortable experience.

Slimness and lightness are essential to creating a comfortable user experience, since they influence how naturally a device opens, how comfortable it feels in the hand and how easily it fits into everyday life. That is why we consider not only the product itself, but also every moment of the user experience it creates.

From an aesthetic perspective, we applied the concept of “Emotive Geometry.” This design approach brings human warmth to Galaxy’s simple, refined forms, creating a balanced design that goes beyond powerful performance to connect with users on an emotional level.

▲ Product sketches and design elements on display illustrate the design process behind the new Galaxy Z series.

Q. What drove the expansion of the Galaxy Z series portfolio?

Across seven generations of foldable innovation, we’ve gained a deeper understanding of how people use their devices. As user expectations for foldables have become more diverse, we have also recognised that no single foldable can meet every need – one size does not fit all.

Some users prioritise productivity and multitasking, while others value portability. Based on these insights, we expanded the Galaxy Z series lineup so each device could better serve different priorities.

Q. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the slimmest Galaxy Z Fold yet. What shaped its exceptionally slim design?

The design concept behind the newest Galaxy Z series is “Emotive Slim” — an approach that focuses not only on reducing thickness, but also on how slim it looks and feels in everyday use.

We applied a gentle slope to the frame to make the foldable easier to open and created a more curved outer silhouette for a softer, more comfortable grip. We also minimised the flat side profile to create a visually slimmer appearance.

Q. Why was a passport chosen as the design inspiration for the new Galaxy Z Fold8?

The classic passport is designed to be easy to carry, hold with one hand and read at a glance. Those same ergonomic principles shaped Galaxy Z Fold8, extending our focus on comfort throughout the device’s overall layout.

When folded, it features a 16:10 aspect ratio optimised for one-handed use. Unfolded, it becomes a more immersive 4:3 display with balanced symmetry.

Q. How were these colors chosen for the new Galaxy Z series?

Each colour was chosen to reflect the lifestyle of the people each device is designed for. Violet Shadow gives Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra a chic, sophisticated look, while Lavender brings freshness and softness to Galaxy Z Fold8. Pink adds vibrant, playful energy to Galaxy Z Flip8. Cream and Graphite round out the palette with timeless versatility.

Q. How did Samsung refine the design of Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9?

If a smartphone lives in the hand, a smartwatch delivers its greatest value when it’s comfortable enough to wear every day. That’s why our approach to the new Galaxy Watch series focused on refinement rather than reinvention, preserving our core design while enhancing the details that matter most.

At the centre of Galaxy Watch is the cushion design. More than a shape, it defines the watch’s identity by balancing presence with softness and precision with comfort. For Galaxy Watch Ultra2, we brought the screen, bezel and cushion body into a seamless form, creating a cleaner profile and a more premium look. We also carefully refined the spacing and tactile separation between the buttons, making each one easier to distinguish by touch and enabling precise control without looking at the screen.

Q. How have the bands on Galaxy Watch Ultra2 and Galaxy Watch9 changed?

Bands play a critical role in wearability. For this generation, we made them lighter, thinner and more breathable with a new air pocket structure.

Because every wrist is different, we used computational design to validate comfort and fit using more than one hundred million real-user wrist data and ten thousand of simulations.

We refined the balance between the watch body and band for greater stability on the wrist, while expanded band options give users more ways to express their personal style.

Q. What design philosophy ties this year’s Galaxy devices together?

In an era shaped by AI-driven change, human-centred values are more important than ever. Design shouldn’t only be seen — it should also be felt. For design to feel truly human, it must begin with a deep understanding of how people live, work and interact with technology every day. That belief has guided our approach to designing foldables and smartwatches.

Across seven generations, Samsung has helped define the foldable category through advances in display technology, hinge engineering and materials innovation — all driven by a deep understanding of how people use their devices.

To hear how those insights guided the engineering behind Samsung’s latest foldables, Samsung Newsroom sat down with Sunghoon Moon, Executive Vice President and Senior Executive of Mobile R&D Office – Hardware, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics.

▲ Sunghoon Moon

Q. How have seven generations of user insights shaped Samsung’s approach to the latest Galaxy Z series?

From the beginning, we saw foldables as an opportunity to redefine how people interact with their smartphones — not simply as a new form factor. Through seven generations, we’ve learned how people open, carry, unfold and rely on their devices. Those insights have shaped our engineering priorities and guided each new generation of the Galaxy Z series.

Over time, three priorities became clear: larger, more immersive displays; thinner and lighter devices without compromising durability; and ultra performance while preserving the unique advantages of the foldable form factor. Delivering all three became the defining engineering challenge behind the latest Galaxy Z series.

Q. Samsung describes foldable innovation as engineering one connected system. What does that mean in practice?

With foldables, every component is interconnected. Making a device thinner, for example, means redesigning the display, hinge, battery, thermal system and internal architecture together. Rather than optimizing individual parts separately, we engineer the entire device as one connected system. This end-to-end engineering philosophy extends from materials and component design to manufacturing, validation and the final product experience — allowing engineering advancements to become improvements people experience every day.

▲ Samsung engineered each of the latest foldables as one connected system to bring about key improvements for users.

Q. The new Galaxy Z series introduces Flex Titanium technology. What engineering challenges did it solve?

Our goal was to make foldables thinner and lighter without compromising durability or the viewing experience. That required us to rework the display support structure protecting the ultra-thin OLED panel while preserving the flexibility needed for repeated folding.

Used in demanding industries such as aerospace, titanium offered the strength and resistance against permanent deformation essential for a foldable display. But selecting the material was only the beginning. The real challenge was developing the processing, structural design and manufacturing expertise needed to make titanium suitable for repeated folding.

▲ Flex Titanium technology makes the display thinner and more durable while reducing crease visibility.

Flex Titanium combines two titanium-based elements. The titanium plate beneath the display serves as the primary structural support, helping absorb pressure and impacts from both the front and rear of the device. A precision-engineered lattice structure — created through a hybrid manufacturing process — allows the plate to remain flexible while maintaining structural strength. Beneath the display panel, the titanium-alloy film provides the strength, flexibility and elastic recovery needed to support repeated everyday folding, even at a thickness of just tens of micrometers — roughly one-third the thickness of a human hair.

▲ Flex Titanium technology features an exceptionally thin titanium-alloy film and precision-engineered titanium plate.

Together, these innovations strengthened the display support structure while reducing display module thickness by 10%, creating additional space for the battery, thermal system and camera. For users, that translates into a thinner, lighter device with a flatter display and reduced crease visibility.

Q. How did Samsung reinvent the battery system for the latest Galaxy Z series?

Users expect longer battery life, faster charging and a thinner foldable — without compromising safety, stability or long-term reliability. Meeting those expectations required reengineering the battery system, not simply increasing battery capacity.

We introduced a silicon-carbon anode to improve energy density, but the innovation extends beyond the anode. Because silicon-carbon materials are more reactive, maintaining long-term stability under high-voltage conditions meant optimizing the entire battery system. Improvements to the display structure also created additional internal space, allowing us to redesign the battery system while preserving a slimmer form factor. As a result, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra features a 5,000 mAh battery.

The same philosophy shaped charging. Rather than applying a single solution across the lineup, we developed charging architectures tailored to each foldable form factor. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and Galaxy Z Fold8 use a dual-path charging architecture that helps distribute power more efficiently across the battery system, enabling faster, more stable and reliable charging while improving heat management. This supports 45 W fast charging, enabling Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra to reach a 67% charge in 30 minutes. For Galaxy Z Flip8, the charging architecture was separately optimized for the unique spatial and thermal requirements of its compact form factor.

Q. To ensure foldables can withstand years of everyday use, how does Samsung validate durability before bringing a device to market?

For us, durability isn’t just about design — it must be proven through testing. We validated the complete foldable system under conditions that reflect how people use their devices. The latest Galaxy Z series was subjected to more than 100 reliability validation tests covering real-world conditions including drops, repeated folding, pressure, moisture and debris. Our goal was to understand how the complete device performs in everyday use, identify potential issues before they reach customers and build foldables people can trust.

Q. Looking back at the entire development process, how would you describe Samsung’s approach behind the Galaxy Z series?

Everything starts with the user. Over seven generations, we’ve transformed user insights into innovations in materials, components and the overall device experience. That philosophy continues to guide the Galaxy Z series — delivering foldables that are thinner, more durable, more capable and more intuitive year after year.

The first thing that stands out is how thin the device is. Unfolding it reveals a spacious 8-inch main display[1]. Measuring 4.1 millimetres thick when unfolded and weighing only 215 grams, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the thinnest Galaxy Z Fold yet — making it comfortable to carry and use throughout the day.

The display has been refined to deliver smoother, more comfortable folding. The folding magnets, hinge mechanism and display tension have been precisely optimised, while refinements to the edge design make the device easier to unfold. Samsung’s proprietary Flex Titanium technology helps minimise the display crease while enhancing durability[2].

▲ Flex Titanium technology reduces crease visibility.

The expansive display also unlocks enhanced AI experiences.

Gemini Notebook streamlines the process of organising meeting materials and notes. Users can upload a PDF of meeting minutes or an audio recording of a presentation to generate a summary of the key points, then transform the same source material into a variety of formats — including AI-generated videos, presentation slides, podcasts and quizzes.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra truly shines in AI-powered multitasking. Agentic AI anticipates when multitasking is needed, using Now Nudge[3] to open Multi Window at the right moment. For example, Now Nudge can suggest adding dinner plans from a messaging app to the calendar and open the Calendar app in Multi Window.

The device also delivers a more advanced agentic AI experience.

For example, if a user shares a photo of the Eiffel Tower with Gemini and asks it to book a nearby hotel, the AI agent finds accommodations that match the specified criteria — even while they continue using other apps. Afterward, they can simply review the recommendations and approve only the actions that require confirmation, saving time and effort.

Galaxy Z Flip8: More Without Unfolding

Galaxy Z Flip8 makes a strong first impression with its thin, lightweight design. Measuring 6.1 millimetres thick when unfolded and weighing only 180 grams, it offers excellent portability. A stronger frame and a more durable hinge made with a new high-strength material improve durability while maintaining the device’s slim profile.

One of Galaxy Z Flip8’s biggest upgrades is its more versatile FlexWindow. Users can check important information and access their favourite features without unfolding the device.

Another highlight is Galaxy AI’s Now Brief[11]. From FlexWindow, users can instantly see the day’s weather, schedule and important notifications. Everyday information such as exchange rates and stock updates are organised into personalised cards, making it easy to stay on top of the day.

App functionality also extends to FlexWindow. Without unfolding the device, users can browse photos in the Gallery app, chat with friends through messaging apps and quickly complete tasks. More than a hub for notifications and widgets, FlexWindow has evolved into a gateway to more of what Galaxy has to offer.

The camera experience has also been refined to better complement the Galaxy Z Flip form factor. Camcorder Grip — exclusive to the Galaxy Z Flip series — enables stable one-handed recording, while Super Steady’s horizontal lock helps keep footage smooth and level, even on the move.

Dual Recording captures both the creator and the subject in the same video, perfect for vlogs and social media challenges. Opening the Camera app displays the creator’s view at the top of the screen and the subject’s view below, allowing both perspectives to be recorded simultaneously. A live preview is also available on the cover screen, so both can see the shot while filming.

From AI-powered productivity on a large display to optimised content viewing and everyday convenience without unfolding, the eighth-generation Galaxy Z series expands the possibilities of foldables. Designed to suit a wide range of needs, the latest Galaxy foldables offer users more ways to choose the mobile experience that suits them.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled the new Galaxy Z series, its most complete lineup yet, designed to expand foldables to a wider audience. The lineup introduces Galaxy Z Fold8, a fresh and exciting form factor that provides a new kind of foldable experience built around the way people explore, discover and immerse themselves in their favourite content.

The lineup also includes Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, which brings Galaxy’s renowned Ultra standard to foldables with maximum productivity and content creation in a larger workspace. Galaxy Z Flip8 — the sleekest one yet — was built for expression and quick interaction on the go. Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and consumer insight, the new Galaxy Z series gives users more choice than ever, with three distinct experiences engineered to fit different needs.

Galaxy AI has been optimised for each of these form factors. Across the lineup, every insight feels more actionable and every action feels more connected. Multitasking is easier on the larger screens of Galaxy Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra, while Z Flip8’s AI-native FlexWindow keeps relevant information and shortcuts within reach. And with partner AI experiences such as Gemini Intelligence, Galaxy gives users even more ways to get things done in fewer steps — with transparency, privacy and user control built in.

“Seven generations of foldables has taught us consumers need different experiences for different lifestyles,” said Annika Bizon, VP of Product and Marketing, Mobile Experience, Samsung UK & Ireland. “The Galaxy Z series is our most complete foldables line-up yet, setting a new standard with our most advanced AI features. This is our eighth generation of foldables and we understand form factor matters more than ever in the agentic AI era.”

The All-New Galaxy Z Fold8 – A New Galaxy Fold Experience for Everyday Immersion

Galaxy Z Fold8 is reimagined for users who want a foldable that feels natural in the moments when curiosity turns into deeper discovery. Fold8 introduces a form factor designed to move easily from quick interactions on the cover screen to deeper viewing, reading and gaming on the main display. With Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet, intuitive display ratios and long-lasting performance, Fold8 makes it easier to get the most out of the content, stories and ideas that matter.

Built for Discovery

Galaxy Z Fold8’s display ratios are designed around the way people naturally consume content throughout the day. By adapting the screen to the content, Galaxy Z Fold8 creates a more immersive experience whether users are browsing, watching, reading or gaming. At just 201g, Galaxy Z Fold8 is Samsung’s lightest Galaxy Z Fold yet[1]. Despite its lightweight design, a larger 4,800mAh battery helps users stay in the zone for longer.[2]

When folded, the 10:16 cover screen[3] feels familiar and comfortable for the short moments people return to most often, from messaging and social updates to browsing and short-form video.

When unfolded, the 4:3 main display[4] creates a larger canvas that helps users lose themselves in games and films.

When rotated, the same display ratio becomes naturally suited to reading, giving users a more comfortable way to settle into articles, e-books and long-form content without carrying another device.

Together, these display ratios are designed around the way people naturally consume content, helping Galaxy Z Fold8 feel more immersive whether users are quickly checking in or settling in for longer sessions.

A Display Engineered from the Inside Out

Across the new Galaxy Z series, expert display engineering serves as the foundation for a more refined foldable experience, supporting slimmer designs, greater durability and more seamless viewing.

Samsung’s new Flex Titanium technology introduces a titanium-based display structure designed to help make foldables thinner while maintaining durability. Combining a titanium-alloy film with an enhanced titanium plate, Flex Titanium helps strengthen display support, absorb pressure and impact, and reduce crease visibility over time. This structure also refines the way the device opens, balancing hinge mechanics, display tension and magnetic force to make unfolding feel smoother, lighter and more natural[5].

With up to 3,000 nits of brightness, Vision Booster and a low-reflection display finish, the main screen stays vivid and easy to see even in outdoor settings.

A Clear and Versatile Camera Experience

Galaxy Z Fold8 is designed to help users capture and share the moments that catch their attention. Whether it’s a sweeping landscape, a group shot or a spontaneous moment on the move, Galaxy Z Fold8 makes everyday photography and video feel easier to capture, edit and share.

Dual 50MP cameras deliver consistent high-resolution detail across wide and ultra-wide perspectives, helping preserve image quality across different scenes and shooting conditions[6].

Dual Recording lets users capture both sides of the moment while previewing themselves through the cover screen, making reactions and shared experiences easier to frame.

My FanCam[7] automatically tracks a selected subject and reframes footage into a preferred aspect ratio, turning dynamic scenes into social-ready videos with less manual editing.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra – the Ultra Foldable Built for Maximum Productivity

Ultra represents Galaxy’s highest standard for performance, capability and innovation. With Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, that standard meets Samsung’s most advanced foldable design. Its expansive 8-inch main display[8] opens up a productive workspace for multitasking, while its advanced camera system and long-lasting battery support creation throughout the day. All of this comes in Galaxy’s slimmest Z Fold design yet — it measures just 4.1mm when unfolded and weighs 215g pushing the standard for productivity on the go.

Professional-Grade Creativity with an Ultra-Level Camera System

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is built to give creators more freedom from capture to edit, with an Ultra-level camera system and creative tools that make high-quality content easier to produce from one device.

The 200MP main camera system captures rich, detailed photos with greater clarity, now enhanced with High Dynamic Range capability in 200MP mode for more true-to-life images[9].

A new 50MP ultra-wide camera brings greater detail and clarity to wider scenes and macro shots, giving users more flexibility when capturing landscapes, interiors, group shots and close-up details.

Improved Nightography[10] helps photos and videos look brighter and clearer in low light, so users can capture standout moments even in challenging lighting conditions.

For advanced creators, 8K video recording through the new APV codec gives users greater flexibility and quality for editing and production workflows, while Cine LUT adds cinematic colour and tone control directly from a mobile device.

Power, Battery and Cooling Built for All-Day Productivity

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is engineered to stay fast, responsive and reliable through the most demanding workloads, from heavier multitasking and content creation to AI-powered workflows.

With Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy[11] at its core, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra delivers the performance users need to switch between apps, work across a larger screen and keep demanding tasks moving smoothly.

A New Class of Agentic Experiences Optimised for Foldables

As the most personal device people carry, the phone has become the primary entry point where AI meets users — and the new Galaxy Z series sets the tone for the next generation of mobile AI experiences. Galaxy AI now works across more apps and services, with experiences optimised for foldable form factors. By understanding what matters to each user and helping turn insights into action, Galaxy AI becomes more personal, proactive and useful throughout the day.

Now Brief[18] helps users stay informed with personalised insights tailored to their routines, interests and daily needs through expanded scenarios, customisable briefing cards and personalised recommendations. It now also surfaces security and privacy insights, helping users stay on top of potential risks and protective actions.

Now Nudge[19] helps turn insights into action. When plans begin to take shape in a conversation, AI can surface relevant next steps such as checking a schedule, finding a place or saving a location. On foldables, users can continue the conversation side by side on larger displays.

Gemini Intelligence helps users move from request to result with fewer steps. Users can simply describe what they need or even add screen or image context. App automation can now work across 40+ supported apps and services, with capabilities ranging from looking up tickets to finding a nearby restaurant and making a reservation. With Gemini Notebook, users can bring together notes, images, recordings, files and documents in one persistent workspace to collect, organise and develop their ideas. Drag-and-drop support in Split view makes the workflow even more intuitive, allowing users to easily add multiple files and images and turn their content into audio overviews, infographics, reports, meeting recaps, visual summaries, documents and more.

AI experiences become more connected and contextual when the new Galaxy Z series is connected with Galaxy Watch Ultra2, Galaxy Watch9 and even upcoming Intelligent Eyewear. From wellness insights to daily routines and connected actions, Galaxy AI helps users move more seamlessly between devices with timely personalised support throughout the day.

Together, these experiences show how Galaxy AI is becoming a more capable and proactive companion, helping users accomplish more with less effort. Across the lineup, foldable form factors make these experiences easier to access throughout the day.

Security and Privacy Built Into the Experience

As AI becomes more personal and agentic, trust continues to be a critical foundation of the experience. Users need to know how their data is used, understand what AI is doing on their behalf and stay in control of the choices that shape their experience. With the new Galaxy Z series, Samsung builds that trust into the device from the start, keeping personal data secure while giving users transparency, choice and control over how their information is used.

Samsung Knox protects every Galaxy device from the chip up, with a multi-layered approach that includes on-device personalization and user-controlled cloud processing, as well as future-ready protections such as ecosystem-wide protection through Samsung Knox Matrix. For on-device AI, Personal Data Engine (PDE) enables context-aware, personalized AI experiences. To protect PDE, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) creates encrypted, app-specific storage environments, while Knox Vault adds a tamper-resistant physical layer for sensitive information[20]. These system-level protections work together with Advanced Intelligence settings and Personal Data Intelligence to help users control how AI features manage and use personal data.

One UI 9.0 also introduces a new AI Assistant Activity dashboard, giving users a centralised view of AI automations running on their behalf. Instead of moving across multiple apps and services to understand what happened, users can review AI actions in one place and navigate directly to the relevant agent[21] for additional context and settings. The new Galaxy Z series also brings enhanced Privacy Alerts that proactively notify users about potential privacy risks, including unnecessary attempts to access background permissions, helping them respond before those risks become invisible.

These updates build on Galaxy’s existing security and privacy portfolio which includes Auto Blocker, Theft Protection, Private Sharing, Secure Wi-Fi and more. Together, these advancements help users take a more active role in managing personal data and AI activities, with transparency, clearer choices and stronger protections at the core of their experience — helping ensure that more personal AI experiences remain grounded in trust.

With the expanded access to Google’s most capable AI models, users can boost their productivity and creativity on the foldable screen anytime they want.

Switching to Galaxy is now easier than ever, thanks to a more seamless migration experience across a wider range of devices[24]. With the updated Smart Switch, iOS users can scan a QR code on their current devices and wirelessly transfer data without downloading additional apps. Smart Switch can also bring over additional types of data including password and passkeys, call history, accessibility settings, eSIM data and more, helping reduce the time needed to set up a new device. And with Quick Share’s new compatibility with AirDrop[25], sharing files between iOS and Galaxy devices is now seamless in both directions.

New research has lifted the lid on the different personalities that make up a group trip, with 64% of Brits saying a getaway would never get off the ground without the ‘Chief Vacation Officer’ (CVO).

From starting the chat to choosing destinations and deciphering endless messages, 53% of Brits say those who organise group getaways play an undervalued role in making trips happen.

The research found that while every group trip needs a CVO, most of them often come with their own cast of characters. One in five (20%) identify themselves as the “The Snap Happy One”, who can’t let a meal or moment pass without taking a photo, while a further 15% admit they are the “Busy Bee” who can never quite make the dates.

The Group Trip Cast of Characters

CVO – takes charge and makes the trip happen

Busy Bee – somehow never free

Ghost – says they are in before vanishing until the airport

Window Shopper – sends endless inspiration without ever locking anything in

The Snap Happy One – starts planning photo opportunities before they leave, mapping the most Instagram-worthy spots

The Fluent-ish Friend – brushes up on the local language weeks before departure, clocking up Duolingo lessons and practising key phrases in the hope they’ll sound like a fluent local

Commissioned by Samsung, the research found that phones are becoming an increasingly important tool for today’s trip planners, with 67% relying on their mobile to help organise trips, from using social media to discover new destinations (40%) and AI platforms to help build the perfect itinerary (42%). Despite this, almost half of respondents (46%) admit they still struggle to keep track of the group chat, bookings and everyone’s preferences in one place.

The planning juggle is no longer confined to laptops or kitchen tables either, with Gen Z turning everyday downtime into personal-admin windows, as nearly a quarter admit to planning a holiday during their lunch break or on the commute (24%).

To shine a spotlight on the heroic work of CVO’s, Samsung has enlisted the support of Vicky Pattison, a self-confessed Chief Vacation Officer, to explore how travel planning has evolved from a simple booking task into a juggling act across apps and content streams, and the pride she feels when the plans finally exit the group chat.

The campaign highlights the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 as the ultimate travel command centre for the modern CVO. With its immersive foldable screen, expansive cover display and Multi Window functionality, it helps holiday planners compare flights, hotels and itineraries while keeping the group chat open and moving. Built for planning on the go, its AI-powered features also make it easier to manage to-do lists, track details and turn holiday ideas into booked trips.

Vicky Pattison commented:

“It’s safe to say I love a holiday, and in my friendship group I am absolutely the lead booker and honestly, I thrive from the challenge. What starts as a simple ‘we should all go away’ somehow turns into you sorting dates, comparing hotels, collecting passport details and reminding people to pay you back and I secretly get a kick out of it. Everyone loves the holiday once it’s booked, but very few people see what goes into making it happen.

I think every friendship group has that one person who ends up carrying the trip from idea to reality, and with the Galaxy Z Fold7’s Multi Window, it’s so much simpler than it was before.”

The study revealed the biggest holiday planning challenges, including choosing where to stay (27%), collecting everyone’s passport details (11%) and finding dates that work for everyone (42%), all making the top 10.

Top 10 Holiday Planning Challenges

Finding dates that work for everyone (42%)

Agreeing on a budget everyone is happy with (31%)

Choosing where to stay (27%)

Making decisions when no one else will commit (23%)

Getting everyone to reply in the group chat (23%)

Dealing with people changing their mind repeatedly (23%)

Chasing people for payments or deposits (21%)

Comparing too many destination options (20%)

Aligning on activities so everyone feels the trip is worth it (20%)

Deciding on flights or travel times (19%)

It’s no surprise, therefore, that over a third of Brits (37%) believe having better tools to support holiday planning would make them more likely to organise more trips abroad.

When it comes to ease of planning, Brits identified being able to view multiple apps at once (38%), easy multitasking between chats, bookings and itineraries (34%) and a large screen for comparing options more easily (32%) as the device features they would find most useful when planning a group trip.

Annika Bizon, Mobile Experience VP of Product and Marketing, at Samsung, said:

“The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is built for the way modern holidays come together. Whether you’re comparing destinations and social media side by side or managing group chats and itineraries in real time, its expansive 8-inch unfolding display and Multi Window experience make it easy to plan, book and bring every part of your trip together in one place.”

Every friendship group has someone who somehow makes the trip happen, and 79% of those who regularly plan group holidays say a device that lets them view multiple apps and conversations at once would be useful.

With Multi Window, Galaxy Z Fold7 lets CVOs keep the group chat open while comparing flights, hotels and itineraries side by side. Features including Live Translate help break through language barriers when making calls, sending messages or having face-to-face conversations abroad, while its foldable form factor makes it easier to get everyone into the group photo once they get there. From first message to final photo, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 is built to get the trip out of the chat and into real life.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today unveiled new Flex Titanium technology for the next generation of Galaxy foldable devices. Built on seven generations of foldable innovation and engineering expertise, the redesigned display structure utilises structural and material advancements to deliver a more refined viewing experience with enhanced durability and reduced crease visibility. Made possible thanks to Samsung’s accumulated display know-how, Flex Titanium technology integrates two titanium-based components — a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate — working together to balance slimness, flexibility and strength within the foldable display structure.

“Samsung’s strength in the foldable category comes from connecting user needs with our technologies that deliver tangible benefits in everyday life,” said Sunghoon Moon, EVP and Senior Executive, Mobile R&D Office – H/W, Samsung Electronics. “For the next generation of Galaxy foldables, Samsung is building on years of expertise to bring display innovations into devices that enhance user experiences, anchored by exceptional viewing experiences.”

Building on Years of Foldable Experience

Samsung has played a leading role in advancing mobile display innovation and bringing it to consumers at scale through mobile devices. This legacy includes the widespread adoption of AMOLED displays in 2007 and the evolution of displays into flexible form factors.

Innovative technologies can only reach their full potential and provide meaningful user experiences through continuous refinement in real-world conditions, and the foldable category is no exception. Across seven generations of Galaxy foldables, Samsung has listened closely to consumer feedback. This has given the company a deep understanding of what users expect from the category: larger, more immersive viewing experience with less visible crease — without compromising durability or portability.

To meet these expectations, Samsung had to rethink how foldable displays are constructed by bringing together breakthroughs in technology, materials and mechanical engineering. The result is the latest milestone in foldable display innovation: Flex Titanium technology. By successfully integrating display innovation with device engineering, Samsung will continue to shape the direction of the mobile industry and deliver standout user experiences.

Flex Titanium: Next-Level Viewing

To create a display that provides an immersive viewing experience while maintaining its ability to withstand everyday use, Samsung took a new approach to structural design. This required a material strong enough to withstand external shock, flexible enough to endure repeated folding and thin enough to fit within a refined device structure. Balancing all three factors was essential to advancing foldable displays — and titanium offered the right mix.

Known for its resilience and strength, titanium has been used in some of the most demanding applications, including satellite antennas and the wheels of a Mars rover. While its strength makes titanium a dependable material, it also presents significant engineering challenges when applied to the thin and flexible structure of a foldable display due to its stiffness. Drawing on its expertise, Samsung has integrated titanium into two key components: a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate.

The titanium-alloy film is a component that supports the display from within, sitting below the OLED panel. Compared with polymer film, it provides 20 times greater mechanical stiffness. A precision rolling process makes the material exceptionally thin — measuring roughly one-third the thickness of an average human hair — enabling a slimmer display panel.

Below this sits a robust titanium plate, a flexible structure that supports the display module from beneath. It allows tighter bonding with the display module by eliminating air gaps between the module and the adhesive on the plate through advanced hole processing technology. This new structure provides more stable support underneath the display when unfolded while retaining the flexibility needed to accommodate repeated folding.

Furthermore, by integrating a high-resolution architecture and next-generation organic materials, the new display delivers ultra-vivid display resolution while reducing power consumption — delivering a dramatic boost in overall power efficiency.

“By introducing sophisticated micro-patterned holes to the folding section of the titanium plate, we have successfully secured flexibility with robust durability,” said Kyung-Jin Yoo, EVP and Head of Mobile Display Product Development Team, Samsung Display. “Combining high-resolution display architecture with new organic materials that maximises power efficiency, we will further strengthen the competitiveness of next-generation Galaxy foldable devices.”

Together, these advancements enable a strong foldable display that maximises content immersion on a seamless screen and reduces crease visibility — all while keeping it slim. By balancing strength, flexibility and structural stability, Samsung continues to set the bar for foldable displays.

The new Flex Titanium technology will debut with Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy foldable devices. Further details will be unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked.
