A foldable gives you more screen to play with, but the real advantage comes from knowing what to do with it. From choosing the best display for the task at hand to putting two apps side-by-side, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra have been designed to adapt to what you’re doing.

To help you get more from the Galaxy Z Fold8 Series, Samsung UK’s Smartphone Specialist, Kadesh Beckford answers some of the key questions around using its displays, multitasking, camera features and making the switch to Galaxy.

1. How should I use the Cover and Main Displays on Galaxy Z Fold8?

Use Galaxy Z Fold8’s Cover Display for quick, everyday interactions, then unfold the Main Display when you want more space for browsing, streaming, gaming or reading.

It’s the displays – and more specifically their different aspect ratios – that stand out most to Kadesh. “For me, it’s all about the displays and aspect ratios” says Kadesh. “The Cover Display is excellent for quickly responding to messages and watching short-form content, while the expansive 7.6-inch Main Display transforms everything from web browsing to streaming into a truly immersive experience.”

The 5.5-inch Cover Display has a 10:161 aspect ratio for those quick, everyday interactions. Open up the device and the 7.6-inch Main Display takes over: turn it landscape for a 4:32 ratio suited to YouTube, streaming and gaming, or portrait for a 3:4 ratio that creates a natural reading experience for browsing and e-books.

And there’s a setting that can make moving between the two displays even more seamless. Enable Continue Apps on Cover Screen and, when you fold Galaxy Z Fold8, compatible apps can remain open on the Cover Display – so you can carry on reading, browsing, messaging or watching content without having to reopen the app.

Kadesh’s tip: You don’t always need to unfold. Kadesh uses the Cover Display for quick responses and short-form content, saving the Main Display for the moments when more screen makes the experience better.

2. How can I use Multi Window on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

Multi Window lets you run two apps side-by-side on Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra’s 8-inch Main Display, so you can keep both in view rather than constantly switching between them.

Think messages next to your calendar, or information in one window while you work from another.

“For professionals and power users, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra stands out as the ultimate productivity device,” says Kadesh. “Whether checking your calendar alongside messages or capturing professional-quality photos on the go, the Fold8 Ultra delivers.”

Kadesh’s tip: Take advantage of Multi Window when you’d normally find yourself jumping backwards and forwards between two apps – the larger display lets you keep both in view at once.

3. How can I get more from the camera on Galaxy Z Fold8 and Fold8 Ultra?

One of Kadesh’s more under-the-radar recommendations is Camera Assistant, available to download directly through the Camera settings menu.

Once installed, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra users can access additional camera functionality, including 24MP capture mode, which delivers higher-resolution images while still benefiting from Samsung’s intelligent image processing.

Another trick worth knowing about is Cover Screen Preview. When using the rear cameras with Galaxy Z Fold8 unfolded, you can enable the Cover Screen preview so the person you’re photographing can see themselves in real time – and check their framing before you take the shot.

Kadesh’s tip: If you regularly use your Fold for photography, don’t stop at the camera settings available out of the box – Camera Assistant gives you more to explore.

What’s the difference between Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra?

Galaxy Z Fold8 is Kadesh’s pick for entertainment, while Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is geared towards professionals and power users looking for advanced multitasking and a more powerful camera system. “The Galaxy Z Fold8 is perfect for entertainment enthusiasts,” says Kadesh.

“Whether you’re catching up on an e-book, binge-watching the latest series, or sharing social media content with friends, the immersive displays and carefully optimised aspect ratios make every experience enjoyable.”

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, meanwhile, is Kadesh’s pick for professionals and power users looking for advanced multitasking alongside a more powerful camera system. It features a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultra-wide lens and 10MP 3x optical zoom camera, alongside features including Super Steady Horizontal Lock and My FanCam3.

How do I transfer my data to Galaxy Z Fold8?

“One thing people often ask me is how difficult it is to switch to a new device, particularly if they’re moving from a different operating system,” says Kadesh. “But with One UI 9 and Smart Switch4, you can transfer your apps, messages, contacts, settings and more, so getting set up on your new Galaxy is really straightforward.”

For anyone making their first move to Galaxy, that means switching to Galaxy Z Fold8 or Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra without having to start from scratch.

Whether you’re looking for more room for entertainment, a bigger canvas for multitasking or camera features you might not have discovered yet, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra are designed to make more of the foldable form factor.
