LONDON, United Kingdom – February 22, 2024 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the availability of Galaxy AI^[i] features on more Galaxy devices through a new One UI 6.1 update engineered to further the democratisation of mobile AI. The update will be available across the Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series, starting to roll out from end of March. Even more Galaxy users will now be able to take advantage of the communication-enhancing Galaxy AI features available on AI-supported models. The features include the ability to adjust message tone and translate messages in 13 different languages using Chat Assist^[iii]. Galaxy users can experience the power of real-time interactions through Live Translate^[iv], which provides voice and text translations for phone calls. With Interpreter, users can also engage in spontaneous conversations with locals while traveling as the split-screen feature generates text translations for live conversations.

Productivity Unparalleled

The broader integration of Galaxy AI across the Galaxy ecosystem also enables seamless user experience in day-to-day tasks on AI-supported models, driving new levels of efficiency. Search functions are improved through Circle to Search with Google^[v], which generates intuitive search results with a swift circle-motioned gesture. Life-enhancing organisation features such as Note Assist^[vi] allow users to create formats, generate summaries and translate notes, while Browsing Assist^[vii] enables individuals to stay up to speed faster by generating comprehensive summaries of news articles. Transcript Assist can also easily transcribe meeting recordings and generate summaries and translations.

With Galaxy AI, Samsung is doubling down on its role in unlocking individuals’ creative potential. Galaxy’s latest update delivers a suite of Galaxy AI tools that encourages creative freedom even after a photo is taken. London, UK – 1st December 2023 – The appetite for skateboarding is on the rise, with nearly half (48%) of UK teens saying they are feeling inspired by those in the sport. Yet for them, it’s about more than just getting on the board. From skateboarding style that oozes confidence, to having a fearless attitude, the younger generation has bought into the skateboarder mentality.

In partnership with Skateboard GB, Samsung unveils its new immersive skateboarding experience – the Drop in with Samsung Flip Park, inspired by the Galaxy Z Flip5. The space is more than a skatepark, with two-weeks of exciting events on offer – from art to music, tech and fashion, all set to immerse guests in every element of skateboarding culture.

To celebrate the new skateboarding space, the brand commissioned research to look at what it is that sets this generation apart when it comes to harnessing this attitude, and what it would take for generations beyond Gen Z to have the guts to try.

And with fearless youth skateboarders like Sky Brown scooping top awards and redefining what a skater girl looks like, it’s no surprise that female skateboarders in the UK have seen a 20%^[1] growth in the last year. Yet of the 750,000 people who skateboard in the UK, only 22%^[1] of those are female.

Skateboarders like Sky are helping change the game by setting a new standard of what it means to be a skateboarder, with next gens seeing them as ‘fearless’ (48%), ‘strong’ (43%) and ‘courageous’ (37%). And over half (61%) of millennials say they wish they could embody the skateboarder philosophy.

Both Samsung and skateboarders share the same Korean ‘Tu-hon’ spirit – a burning, under-dog spirit of grit, passion, and ingenuity – which inspired them to bring together a team of pro skateboarders, empowering the nation to have the guts to try something new.

Leading this team is Sky Brown, a 15year-old Olympic skateboarding sensation and World Champion, who said, “One thing I love even more than skateboarding, is seeing others try it and love it for themselves! You have to have the right attitude, and never give up – it’s all about having guts. I can feel people in the UK getting behind our sport and I can’t wait to see where we can take it together.”

When it comes to braving a new skill, the UK’s teens^[2] are paving the way, with 67% saying they would have the guts to try something new like skateboarding, vs. just 28% of millennials.

A poll of 2,000 adults revealed those in the Northern Irish capital take 814 pictures of themselves a year. Edinburgh followed in second, adding 745 photos to their camera rolls over the course of 12 months and London in third with 515 selfies taken – both more than double the national average of 361.

The research by Samsung has been released as the company is rewarding one lucky winner with the chance to win a huge £500,000 just by taking a selfie on the latest Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Z Fold5 devices Samsung stores and participating retailers.

The poll delves into the selfie snapping habits of Britain, revealing that the average Brit has approximately 133 selfies on their phones, with nearly one in 10 (9%) admitting they have more photos of themselves on their phones than they do of their friends or family.

Over half (59%) of 18-34s revealed they take more selfies than pictures of anything else but 46% of 18-34s admit that they regret not taking more photos of family and friends so far this year.

Having control over the angles (50%), taking as many snaps as you want (49%), and the knowledge of their ‘best side’ (45%) were the top reasons that people prefer pictures they have taken themselves over pictures others have taken of them.

However, 29% of Gen Z and Millennials admit to only liking up to 10% of the selfies they take. For the older generations however, this rises to 50%. Nearly half (48%) of Brits also admitted that their camera roll is due a spring clean.

Rylan Clark has unveiled a series of new looks as he recreates some of the most iconic celebrity selfies of all time.

The self-confessed ‘selfie king’, who snaps more than 100 every week, was challenged to sprinkle some magic on famous celebrity selfies, including pop star Justin Bieber, model Kendall Jenner, Scottish singer Lewis Capaldi and footballer, Lionel Messi.

The TV presenter took on the selfie recreation challenge to mark the launch of Samsung’s new national competition, offering the public a chance to win £500,000 just by walking into any Samsung store or participating retailer across the country and taking a selfie on the new Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5^[2].

And finally, Rylan got tucked up with the iconic football trophy – just like soccer ace Lionel Messi, who’s selfie in bed with the trophy went viral alongside a carousel of pictures. The iconic image bagged a whopping 54.8 million likes after his heroics bringing home the world title for Argentina.
