Samsung Electronics Co.Ltd has announced the launch of Trade In For Samsung Credits, a new initiative that rewards customers with Samsung Credits when they trade in an eligible mobile device^[1]. The credits can be used on future purchases at Samsung.com, from the latest Galaxy devices to tablets, smart TVs, monitors, wearables, smart home appliances and more^[2].

Samsung Credits can be redeemed on your next purchase, whether upgrading to a new device or investing in a new piece of home tech, or saved in your Samsung Account to use anytime within five years. The programme offers competitive trade-in values, even for damaged devices^[1], with the convenience of free, pre-paid returns.

Giving customers a new way to unlock value from old devices, the programme is currently available for Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S series and Z series devices and is set to expand to a wider range of products later this year.

Sketch to Image^[2]on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 with Galaxy AI is here to help with that.

Start with a quick and simple sketch of what you want to see on a photo you’ve taken. In seconds, it will be converted into a photorealistic object that matches the mood of the photo — right before your eyes.

With Sketch to Image, your rough sketches are turned into stunning works of art. You can either layer them on top of an existing photo, like your favourite holiday pictures, or you can even start with a blank canvas and create something beautiful from scratch. There are also additional options to further customise your creations by selecting from different styles, such as watercolour or 3D cartoon.

Let AI remix your portrait

Across the many different social media platforms we all use, one common element is the profile picture. With Portrait Studio^[3], you can create a profile photo that stands out. Usually, the photo that you take of yourself is the end product, but with Portrait Studio it’s just the beginning. Whether you’d like to see yourself as a comic book character, a 3D cartoon, a watercolor painting or a sketch, Portrait Studio can create something truly unique.

Start by taking a picture of yourself, then select Portrait Studio, which you’ll find within Photo Assist in the Gallery app, and choose the style of image you’d like the AI feature to create. From there, hit ‘Generate’ and let Galaxy AI make your photo instantly sharable. You’ll have a new and unique profile photo, and everyone will be asking you how you did it.

Slow motion without the preparation

Sometimes, you want to capture a moment in a way that a picture never can. A great video always catches people’s attention, and now you can use Instant Slow-Mo^[4] to give your clips an added sense of drama. That video of you pulling off an impossible trick at the skate park or gracefully waving a scarf in the sea breeze is much more fun when slowed down. Instant Slow-Mo makes it easy to create that effect in the videos you already have.

Galaxy AI enables this feature to work well for the times when you forgot to film in slow motion in the first place. It uses AI Frame Rate Conversion (AI FRC) technology to generate intermediate frames of movement to fill in the gaps between frames already there, which helps to maintain picture quality.

To use Instant Slow-Mo, play a video in the Gallery app and tap and hold on the screen at the point you want to slow down. You can see the effect happen in real time, while also having access to additional options to perfect your video. To share the video with friends, it’s as simple as pressing the share button, viewing the preview, selecting to share the slow-mo clip, and using Quick Share to send it to your friends nearby.

Instant Slow-Mo will give a new creative streak to your clips and make you want to press play again and again.

With Galaxy AI on the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, you’re never short of ways to make your photos and videos look amazing. Your quick sketches can become gorgeous 3D visuals, and you can give yourself a whole new look — whether that’s through AI-generated accessories or by reimagining yourself as a cartoon. Your videos can look more like movies, complete with slow-mo.

London, UK – Commuters were stopped in their tracks this morning as they spotted a full size, folded London bus in East London.

The iconic single decker, which measures 6m by 6.2m appeared to have been folded upwards at 90-degree angle with is rear end nearly six metres off the ground.

The bus forms part of a public art project, specially commissioned by Samsung to celebrate the release of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, which come with a range of new features now with Galaxy AI.

Created by artist Caspar Philips, the bus which includes a host of recycled materials from real London buses, was constructed to the accurate scale of a real single decker bus taking a total of 2 months to design and build.

Additional public art installations include a folded bench, lamppost and telephone box, created by designer Jem Hughes, in Old Street which has been aptly renamed to Fold Street temporarily in partnership with TfL as they unveil their new foldable range.

Across the Tube station, selected roundels, areas around benches in platforms and signs at the station entrances have been temporarily changed to say Fold Street.

The iconic domed telephone box was complete with a payphone and phone book, with the lamppost folding at nearly three metres tall.

The public will be able to see the art installations for themselves as they remain in situ for  4 x days until 27^th July 2024.

The latest Galaxy Z series is the slimmest, lightest and most durable foldable series yet, and with Galaxy AI, customers can experience a new era of communication.

Last year, I expanded my responsibilities as head of Samsung’s MX Business, to lead our Corporate Design Center. My career as an engineer taught me that the most sublime designs are intertwined with technological innovation. This new responsibility allows me to delve deeper into how the synergy of design, engineering, and R&D can yield transformative experiences. With my fellow designers, I’ve embarked on a deep exploration of Samsung’s design strategy to understand our roots and envision our growth.

When I look around me, I’m astounded by how much innovation exists in our world today. Yet I am most excited about the evolution of the smartphone. This single device gave way to new digital industries – to remote work, schooling, entertainment and fitness – and the ability to capture, explore and communicate with anyone, anywhere with the touch of a finger.

The smartphone is a portal to infinite progress. And at Samsung, we have never taken that for granted.

It’s not enough for mobile innovation to just evolve with the world. We have to be a step ahead, so our technology can help transform the way we experience everything around us and make our lives easier. That’s why we constantly push ourselves to break the rules of what a smartphone can do.

Breaking the Rules to Start the Next Chapter in Smartphone History

In 2011, the Galaxy Note merged the convenience and portability of smartphones with the expansive screen and notepad-like functionality of tablets. Some balked at the 5.3-inch display — considered enormous then — but Note created a legacy where a large display is now the standard. The S Pen also surprised everyone. It empowered people to bridge creativity with productivity – whenever inspiration struck, they could quickly write down their ideas and thoughts in Samsung Notes.

In 2019, we dared to redefine smartphones once again. We launched our Galaxy Z Fold Series and brought an entirely new form factor to the mobile industry. Our cutting-edge foldable design changed how people used their phones. With Flex Mode, video calls are hands-free and easier. Shoot dynamic photos and videos with smart new camera features

The Galaxy S21 with One UI 3.1 introduced incredible new camera innovations, making it easier than ever to capture stunning photos and shoot professional-looking videos. Now Galaxy S20 owners can experience these features with the One UI 3.1 update.

Never miss a moment with the improved Single Take[2] feature, which captures a variety of still and video formats simultaneously, with just a tap.

Once you’ve captured your shot, One UI 3.1 introduces the new Object eraser tool to help you to get that perfect image. Use this intelligent photo editing tool to cut out unwanted parts of your photos effortlessly, without time-consuming manual editing. If you want to edit out distracting objects, simply tap the area you wish to remove and it will be automatically selected and deleted.

One UI 3.1 features an improved touch autofocus and autoexposure controller[3], making adjusting the focus and brightness of your photos easier than ever so you can capture your best shot every time. With just a swipe left or right anywhere on the screen, you can now edit the brightness of your image before you’ve taken the shot.

One UI 3.1 also introduces the new Multi Mic Recording [4] feature, which, when in Pro Video mode, allows you to simultaneously record audio through both your phone and a connected Bluetooth device such as Galaxy Buds Pro, Buds Live and Buds+ [5]. So whether you’re a vlogger, narrating a shot where you want to be heard from afar, or you’re a budding musician wanting to record the sound of your voice and instrument separately for more professional-sounding audio, with Multi Mic Recording you can get creative and make videos that look and sound incredible.

All your best shots and favourite moments are stored in the updated Gallery[6], which now groups and arranges your videos and photos into a clean, easy-to-navigate feed.

Smart new features that enhance your everyday life

Head into your Settings to find One UI 3.1’s new Eye Comfort Shield[7] mode, which automatically adjusts the blue light based on the time of day. Using Eye Comfort Shield’s warmer tones can help you to fall asleep easier at night and you can set your device to automatically adjust your screen’s colours throughout the day or personalise the schedule yourself.

Your privacy is important and now One UI 3.1 makes it easier to control what you share. Remove metadata that reveals the location of photos before you share them or use Private Share[8]to control who is allowed access to the content you send, and how long it is available.

With new One UI 3.1 on your devices, the experience of the Galaxy ecosystem is smooth and seamless. As well as a consistent interface that makes switching between your phone and tablet hassle-free, Galaxy Buds Pro, Buds Live and Buds+’s[9] Auto Switch feature means that your audio follows you when you switch between Galaxy devices. If you’re watching videos on your phone or listening to your favourite song or podcast, you can enjoy a more realistic and immersive sound by connecting your compatible phone and Galaxy Buds Pro thanks to 360 Audio – allowing you to stay at the center of your listening experience.
