Switching mobile phones used to feel like starting over — transferring photos, messages, and learning a new experience. Yet many continue to make the move to Samsung Galaxy, with nearly half choosing the premium Galaxy S Ultra line.

Samsung offers a range of features designed to make switching simple whether you’re exploring Galaxy for the first time, setting up your new device, or just starting to use it day to day.

Try Galaxy – Test the Galaxy Experience Before You Switch

If you’re curious to see what Galaxy is all about, you can start by trying it on the device already in your hand. Try Galaxy[1] lets you preview the latest One UI[2] experience on your current phone. It simulates key features, so you can explore how Galaxy works before making the switch. You can get a feel for what it’s like to navigate, customise, and use a Galaxy device at your own pace.

Smart Switch – Bring Everything You Need with You

There’s nothing more frustrating than powering up your new phone only to realise you can’t find what you need. Smart Switch[3] helps you move your contacts, photos, messages, apps, calendars, settings, and more from your old phone to your new Galaxy device.[4] The improved experience is now faster. It walks you through everything step by step and you have the option to transfer wirelessly,[5] with a cable, or from a cloud backup. That means you aren’t starting from scratch with your new phone, it’s already set up with the things you rely on, so you can pick up right where you left off.

Quick Share – Share Easily Across Devices

Need to send a file or photo to friends using different devices? Once you’re up and running with Galaxy you can take advantage of Quick Share, Samsung’s built-in file sharing feature that lets you send photos, videos, and other files seamlessly between Galaxy phones, tablets, and PCs. Plus, share files in full quality using nearby sharing, links, or QR codes across devices and ecosystems.

Quick Share also recognises nearby Apple devices, making it AirDrop capable,[6] for a more seamless photo, video, and file transfer experience. That means you don’t have to think about who you’re sharing with — it just works.

Switching Made Easy

With the ability to test fan favorite features with Try Galaxy before you buy, keep the information that matters to you, and stay connected across ecosystems, the entire Galaxy onboarding experience is designed to be straightforward, so you don’t miss a beat.

Samsung Galaxy is the device of choice for creators of all kinds looking to shoot eye-catching, professional-grade content — and with Galaxy S26 Ultra, that experience is getting even better.

Samsung developed its Advanced Professional Video (APV) codec in collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. as an open standard for professional video creation so the technology could be available to as many users as possible.

It took years of close collaboration between the two companies to make APV a reality on the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy1 chipset that powers Galaxy S26 Ultra. APV is the latest example of Samsung’s commitment to put the user experience first by collaborating with other industry leaders.

What is Samsung’s Advanced Professional Video (APV) Codec on Galaxy S26 Ultra?

Galaxy S26 Ultra is the first Galaxy device to support APV, enabling higher-quality video files that use your device storage more efficiently. For anyone who wants pro-level quality without sacrificing the convenience and portability of shooting video on mobile, APV on Galaxy S26 Ultra is a game changer.

Codecs compress and decompress video files for storage and sharing.

APV preserves more of the original information, which helps maintain delicate details such as water droplets, textures, and motion — noted by the clarity of the splash in the image despite multiple rounds of encoding. APV codecs achieve visually lossless quality even when subjected to repeated editing.

Codecs compress and decompress video files for storage and sharing. With an HEVC codec, the system often removes very small visual details to reduce file size. As a result, fine elements like water droplets, splashes, or subtle textures in the image become blurred after rounds of encoding.

APV preserves more of the original information, which helps maintain delicate details such as water droplets, textures, and motion — noted by the clarity of the splash in the image despite multiple rounds of encoding. APV codecs achieve visually lossless quality even when subjected to repeated editing.

How does APV Work?

While other smartphone codecs prioritise small file sizes, they are not built for high-quality editing. APV makes for easier editing and more creative flexibility.

Now you can capture video content on your Galaxy device that behaves like cinematic professional camera footage when it’s time to edit — maintaining video quality even after repeated edits. Supporting up to 8K resolution at 30 frames per second, APV uses 10% less storage than other comparable formats while maintaining the same objective visual quality.

How to Enable APV on Galaxy S26 Ultra

Navigate to Camera > Settings > Video Format > APV

Choose preferred APV control APV HDR or APV Log

Select the type of file compression APV 422 HQ (high-quality video) or APOV 422 LQ (optimized for storage capacity and limited data rates)

Toggle selected shooting mode on or off in Camera preview

Users also have the option to record APV directly to external USB storage, navigate to Camera > Settings > Save to External Storage

Learn more about APV here, and explore the capabilities of Galaxy S26 Ultra and all the latest Galaxy devices on Samsung.com/uk.

Samsung Wallet gives Samsung Galaxy users a single, secure destination for essentials including payment cards, passes and various digital keys. Its integration across the broader Samsung Galaxy ecosystem allows for smooth connectivity and enhanced security designed to support users’ daily routines.

Once a compatible Toyota vehicle is linked to Samsung Wallet, Samsung Galaxy users can use their smartphone to access and start the vehicle without the need for a physical key, with Ultra-Wideband (UWB)[2] technology enabling hands-free entry and Near Field Communication (NFC)[3] technology. UWB technology, a standardised communication protocol set by the Car Connectivity Consortium (CCC), also strengthens overall security by reducing the risk of unauthorized vehicle access with precise and reliable functionality. Galaxy users can also share their Digital Keys with trusted contacts through Samsung Wallet. This shared access can be updated or revoked at any time, providing flexibility for multi-driver households or temporary use.

As part of Samsung Wallet, Digital Keys are securely stored directly on the device and protected by Samsung Knox[4], Samsung’s industry-leading security platform. Digital Keys meet rigorous EAL6+[5] certification standards, providing robust protection against unauthorised access and ensuring that sensitive key information remains safeguarded within the device.

If a device containing a Digital Key is lost or stolen, users can remotely lock or delete the key through the Samsung Find service. With biometric or PIN authentication in place, Samsung Wallet adds an extra layer of protection to help ensure secure and private vehicle interactions.

As the door closes on “Stranger Things,” Samsung Electronics and Netflix are giving fans a chance to celebrate the final season of the iconic show that has shaped pop culture for nearly a decade. Starting Jan. 12, Samsung Galaxy users in 186 countries can download an exclusive “Stranger Things” theme and wallpapers via Galaxy Store[1] — available at no additional cost for a limited time to those who download or launch the Netflix app.

Iconic Imagery From a Cultural Phenomenon

Since its debut in 2016, “Stranger Things” has been one of the defining titles behind Netflix’s rise as the world’s leading entertainment service. The series became a global megahit, driving viewership and conversation across regions and generations.

Following the release of Season 5, Part 1 on Nov. 27, 2025, it ranked No. 1 in 91 countries and recorded 59.6 million views in its first five days, marking the strongest opening performance for an English-language series on Netflix to date. It also became the first series in Netflix history to place all five seasons in the Global Top 10 at the same time, holding that record for five consecutive weeks. All episodes from the final season are now streaming globally, only on Netflix.

Samsung’s exclusive content inspired by Season 5 builds on that momentum. Available from Jan. 12 through Feb. 22, the collection includes a special theme and five wallpapers featuring live-action characters and settings from the show, including Hawkins and the Upside Down. Reflecting the unique atmosphere of the show, the visuals allow fans to bring elements of the series into their everyday lives.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that it has expanded the availability of its Certified Re-Newed (CRN) program to select markets. By providing high-quality renewed Galaxy devices backed by trusted certification, the program makes Samsung Galaxy flagship devices more accessible to consumers while underscoring Samsung’s ongoing commitment to the circular economy.

“We’re excited to expand our Certified Re-Newed program in European markets to provide customers with more options for purchasing flagship devices,” said Jun Kim, EVP and Head of Galaxy Value Innovation Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “While contributing to the circular economy, we hope more customers can experience our latest innovations, including Galaxy AI.”

Samsung’s Trusted Quality Standards Behind Every Device

Starting with the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung offers Certified Re-Newed Galaxy flagship devices in the UK and Germany, and Refurbished Premium by Samsung (Reconditionné Premium par Samsung) devices in France.

Samsung’s Certified Re-Newed devices undergo an in-house expert inspection and refurbishment process, which includes rigorous cleaning and more than 100 quality tests. In the UK, France and Germany consistent quality is ensured by limiting eligibility for the CRN manufacturing process to top-grade returned products only. Each device is reconditioned to look and perform to Samsung’s high standards using genuine Samsung parts [1].

During the restoration process, all devices are reset to delete personal data and ensure they are sold in a condition equivalent to that of a brand-new device[2]. After refurbishment, CRN devices are packaged in a new box made from recyclable materials and include the same in-box items as a new device.

CRN devices come with the same warranty as new Galaxy devices, distinguishing them from third-party refurbished or secondhand devices.[3] Additionally, devices sold in the UK, France and Germany are issued new IMEI numbers and updated with the latest software to ensure security and long-term usability.

Samsung will continue to introduce the program to additional markets based on market demand and consumer needs.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a Worldwide Olympic and Paralympic Partner, today unveiled a new roster of Team Samsung Galaxy athletes for the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. The new team brings together 68 athletes across 17 countries, representing both Olympic and Paralympic sports. Each member of Team Samsung Galaxy was selected for their personal journey — one that embodies openness both on and off the field of play.

Bringing “Open always wins” to the Road to Milano Cortina 2026

The athletes will share their journeys on the road to the Games and help deliver Samsung’s central message for Milano Cortina 2026, “Open always wins.” First introduced at Paris 2024, the theme returns to the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games as a reflection of Samsung’s belief that with an open mind, anything is possible. Team Samsung Galaxy will deliver this message to fans around the world by sharing personal stories that reflect on how openness guides their lives and careers.

“Athletes and fans are at the heart of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, and Samsung is proud to help bring them closer together and make moments more connected—from how athletes share their journeys to how fans experience the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” said Sophia Kim, VP and Head of Experience Marketing Group, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Together with Team Samsung Galaxy, we will open up new perspectives and infinite possibilities throughout the Games, that is our message ‘Open always wins’ to the fans and communities.”

Athletes Who Bring Openness to Life

With a strong presence across nine key disciplines—including snowboarding, skating, skiing, bobsleigh and cross-country skiing—sports that embody creativity, expression and performance under pressure, the Team Samsung Galaxy roster reflects the diversity of winter sports.

For Milano Cortina 2026, Team Samsung Galaxy includes Olympic freestyle skiing champion Alex Hall (USA), freestyle skier siblings Miro and Flora Tabanelli (ITA), innovative performer of world-first snowboarding tricks Ian Matteoli (ITA), multiple-time short track speed skating World Champion and Olympic medalist Minjeong Choi (KOR), freestyle skiing World Champion Zoe Atkin (GB), and two-time snowboarding Olympic Gold medalist Anna Gasser (AUT). In alpine skiing, Arthur Bauchet (FRA) holds multiple Paralympic and World Championship titles, while former national champion Adam Žampa (SVK) showcases the field’s most formidable talent. Along with figure skating elites, this year’s team also boasts World Champion Alysa Liu (USA) and two-time World Champion Ilia Malinin (USA).

Across sports and borders, each Team Samsung Galaxy athlete brings the spirit of openness to life in their own personal way.

<Txema Mazet-Brown>

Born on Réunion Island, raised between the Alps and New Zealand, Txema Mazet-Brown’s been chasing snow since before he could walk. He’s a two-time FIS European Cup Big Air champ and 2024 Junior World Champion. Representing Great Britain, Txema mixes Euro precision with Kiwi flow. Off the comp scene, he’s all about filming and traveling.

“Snowboarding for me is about progression and riding with my friends,” said Txema Mazet-Brown. “It’s a way of life that thrives on openness – to new ideas, unexpected challenges, and continuous improvement.

“We push each other, try new things and spend as much time on snow as possible. That’s how I’ve always learned and how I want to keep moving forward. With Milano Cortina 2026 coming up, I’m focused on riding and progressing with that same openness and doing what I love. I’m stoked to work with Samsung and to share some of that openness with others along the way.”

<Zoe Atkin>

Balancing Stanford studies with halfpipe podiums, World Champion, Zoe Atkin is rewriting what it means to be a student athlete. With precision and style, she’s become one of the most talked about names in freestyle skiing.

“I’m really proud to be joining Team Samsung Galaxy. As an athlete, I’m always pushing to evolve not just in competition, but in how I prepare and take care of myself. Having Samsung’s support as I compete on the global stage is incredibly motivating,” says Zoe.

Feeling pressure to plunge into ice baths or stock up on supplements to “optimise” your life?

Biohacking is about turning personal health data into micro-upgrades that boost wellness and longevity. Early biohackers might have chased these gains with extreme diets, supplements and experimental techniques. But if you scroll your social feed today, tech leads the conversation.

At the forefront of this tech-driven movement is the Galaxy Watch8 series [1]. Seamlessly integrating into your daily routine, it quietly tracks key lifestyle metrics so you can see how the choices you make throughout the day impact your health.

Before we dive in, let’s do a quick check-in: how many of these biohacks are already part of your routine?

Already acing your biohacks? The Galaxy Watch8 series help you refine each habit for faster, smarter gains.

Optimise Your Sleep with Biohacking

We spend about 30% of our lives asleep, yet irregular schedules and sub-optimal environments still undermine rest. The Galaxy Watch8 series helps you optimise your sleep by analysing your sleep patterns and environment, identifying issues, and giving actionable tips to help build consistent, restorative sleep habits.

How can I follow a regular sleep schedule?

Wear Galaxy Watch8 for three nights to unlock Bedtime Guidance[2]. It analyses your sleep patterns, recommending the best times to wind down, based on your sleep pressure and circadian rhythm, helping you reset your sleep schedule and maximise alertness during the day.

How can I improve my sleep quality?

Galaxy Watch8 tracks every toss, turn and breath of your night. Each morning you get an in-depth sleep analysis based on your sleep stages, heart rate, skin temperature and oxygen level, highlighting what helped or hindered your rest.

You can also access a Sleep Environment Report which leverages data from your other SmartThings devices to analyse temperature, humidity, CO2 and illuminance. With this data at your fingertips, you can easily optimise your room conditions for a better night’s sleep.

What can I do during the day to improve my sleep?

Once your sleep patterns are defined, Sleep Coaching assigns you a Sleep Animal and delivers personalised tips like adding a quick meditation session or skipping late-day caffeine. With Galaxy Watch8, small, daily habit upgrades are easy, and better nights are within reach.

Optimise Your Workouts with Biohacking

Some people train for marathons. Others just want to feel less stiff after sitting all day. So how do you reach your goals while staying motivated? The Galaxy Watch8 series gives you all the answers, all while sitting snugly on your wrist thanks to its sleek design and dynamic lug system.

How do I set the ideal fitness goal for me?

Galaxy Watch8’s built-in Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) sensor measures your body fat percentage, body-water content and skeletal muscle mass, so you get a comprehensive snapshot of your body. These insights help you create a personalised training plan and track every step of your progress.

How can I start running more consistently?

Start with Running Coach [3], which analyses your pace and fitness level after just a 12-minute run to build a custom routine. It also keeps you motivated during your runs with real-time feedback, helping you to reach your goals. Worried about potential injury from doing too much too soon? Running Coach provides tailored training programs at the ideal intensity, helping you gain speed safely.

How can I maximise recovery after training?

Samsung Health gives you the tools for optimal post-workout recovery. Check your heart rate after an intense workout and get recommendations on water intake based on sweat loss, so you can get the rest you need to come back stronger.

[Bonus Tip] Try Zone 2 [4] interval training, known to improve endurance and boost fat burning potential. Galaxy Watch8 sets personalised Heart Rate Zones based on your fitness level to help you stay within your personal HR Zone 2 for peak results.

Optimise Your Nutrition with Biohacking

Now that sleep and activity are under control, turn to the everyday habits that drive healthy ageing. The Galaxy Watch8 series is the first smartwatch to track antioxidant levels, giving you a real-time view of your cellular health and how each lifestyle choice shapes it. Just put your thumb on the back sensor to get Instant Nutritional Feedback that used to require lab tests.

How do I know if I’m eating enough fruits and vegetables?

Use the Antioxidant Index [5] to see how your diet and lifestyle habits impact healthy ageing. Within just five seconds, it measures the carotenoids — natural antioxidants from fruits and veggies — stored in your skin and provides a score out of 100. It also offers tips to boost your score, like adding more colorful produce such as carrots, broccoli and oranges to your meals.

How can I cut down on unhealthy habits?

First, we must learn more about how our bodies are affected by these unhealthy habits. Your Energy Score provides insights on how factors such as alcohol intake and late-night snacking affect your health, while Antioxidant Index directly shows the impact of these habits — motivating you to change your ways and adopt a healthier lifestyle.

How can I easily track my water intake?

Proper hydration is essential for performing at your best, but it is often difficult to track. With Samsung Health, you can track your water intake with just a tap and set a daily hydration goal. Galaxy Watch8 will handle the rest by sending personalised reminders and monitoring trends, making it effortless to stay on top of your game.

The Galaxy Watch8 series turns biohacking from buzzword to habit — personal, actionable and effortless. Wear it, watch the insights roll in, and let better health become second nature.
