LONDON, UK – December 23, 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today that select 2022 4K and 8K TVs and gaming monitors will support the new HDR10+

LONDON, UK – December 23, 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. announced today that select 2022 4K and 8K TVs and gaming monitors will support the new HDR10+ GAMING standard, delivering the immersive, ultra-responsive HDR gaming experience to gamers. The new, cutting-edge HDR gameplay will be unveiled at CES 2022 along with a list of 4K and 8K game titles, all powered by NVIDIA GPUs.

“We are extremely proud to announce that the new HDR10+ GAMING standard will be adopted by Samsung’s 2022 Neo QLED line up with the Q70 TV series and above and gaming monitors, allowing users to enjoy a game-changing experience through cutting-edge visuals and richer, life-like images,” said Seokwoo Yong, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “Samsung will continue to invest in users’ viewing experiences as technology continues to advance and provide enhanced new features and capabilities.”

Advanced HDR Technology Maintains the Artistic Intent of Game Developers

This new standard, developed by HDR10+ Technologies, LLC, gives game developers the tools they need to provide gamers with a compelling and consistent HDR gaming experience without the need for manual calibration across a variety of display technologies for various input sources, including consoles, PCs and more.

Samsung’s 2022 TV and gaming monitor lineup will support the HDR10+ GAMING standard by allowing automated HDR calibration that provides stunning picture quality to meet game developers’ demand. This translates into one of the most responsive and accurate gaming experiences available to date.

By removing the need for manual settings when games are loaded, something previously only possible with movie and television content, the game engine automatically optimises video game content in real-time. This feature ensures details in the dark shadows and preserves the brightest highlights so that gamers can see and react to everything on the screen. It also configures the display to “true reference mode”, providing better color, also without the need for gamers to spend additional time with game settings.

Several gaming companies, including Saber Interactive, are expected to showcase their HDR10+ GAMING titles during the upcoming CES 2022.

“We are very excited to help usher in a new era of video game picture quality. By adopting HDR10+ GAMING, gamers of all ages will enjoy cutting-edge visuals for the best overall gaming experience,” said Todd Hollenshead, Head of Publishing at Saber Interactive. “The HDR10+ GAMING standard is genuinely raising the bar, and we are proud to be at the forefront of bringing it to market with games like Redout 2, the fastest 8K anti-gravity racer ever made, and with Pinball FX, the king of digital pinball, brought to life in a brand-new way.”

Game Mechanic Studios is also showcasing their HDR10+ GAMING title “Happy Trails and the Kidnapped Princess,” which will be available in 2022.

HDR10+ brings superior picture quality by optimising brightness and contrast scene-by-scene or frame-by-frame, with more accurate colour expression.

Introduced four years ago, HDR10+ has built robust support across the industry, with 128 partners and over 4,000 supported devices, including TVs, projectors, smartphones and tablets from more than 28 manufacturers. HDR10+’s metadata also offers flexible reference tone and mapping curve definition for content creators, allowing them to deliver more impactful images exactly as they intended them to be seen.

In addition, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 30 Series, RTX 20 Series, and GTX 16 Series GPUs will support the HDR10+ GAMING standard with drivers scheduled for release in 2022.

“NVIDIA GeForce gamers can enjoy a brighter, more vivid and consistent HDR gaming experience on their monitors or TVs from the support of the new HDR10+ GAMING standard,” said Vijay Sharma, Director of Product Management at NVIDIA.

Paris, 22 December 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd today announced the latest development in its ongoing partnership with streaming giant, Netflix, to herald the release of the second season of its hit-show, Emily in Paris, produced by MTV Entertainment Studios. The Emmy-nominated show, renowned for its 21st century celebration of iconic Parisian style, has collaborated with Samsung to showcase world-class premium technology to fans of the series.

In the first season, the beautiful setting and quintessentially Parisian characters gave viewers an insight into French style and culture and are some of the driving forces behind the show’s success. This sense of escapism was created and elevated by the global cast, including the iconic character of Sylvie Grateau. Played by Samsung ambassador Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Sylvie acts as lead protagonist Emily’s boss, and the CMO of luxury marketing agency Savoir. Sylvie’s character embodies true stylish authority; great at her job, powerful, commanding and effortlessly chic, she became one of the most widely recognised and loved characters from the show’s debut season. In season two, to make sure she keeps on top of her personal and professional life, Sylvie has chosen the stylish and snappy Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G to keep Emily and the rest of the agency on their toes.

But Sylvie is not the only one to benefit from the style and glamour of the Galaxy Z Flip 5G. To launch the second season, Samsung and Netflix will bring iconic style and innovative technology to fans of Emily in Paris through an integrated campaign; featuring offline ads, social and influencer content, and a TikTok filter that provides a new way for fans to enjoy the show, through the lens of the iconic Galaxy Z Flip 5G. The filter will allow fans to “flip the script” and become the lead character in their own Emily in Paris animated poster. The stunning Galaxy Z Flip 5G will unfold in front of the user, putting them front and centre before the iconic Eiffel Tower. TikTok users* can try out the Flip the Script TikTok Effect on the platform as of 28th of December.

Benjamin Braun, Samsung CMO for Europe, said “At Samsung, we are always at the forefront of creativity and innovation. We are excited to partner with Netflix for the second season of one of their biggest shows, Emily in Paris, and to see Sylvie wielding the iconic Galaxy Z Flip 5G fits the personality of the device perfectly. We’re looking forward to developing this partnership further and deeper in the future”.

Samsung’s latest line of premium products are set to push the boundaries of innovation for fans of Emily in Paris, showcasing the brands’ ability for combining style with flagship innovation and craftmanship. Some of the Samsung products include:

The Galaxy Z Flip 5G: A premium and innovative foldable phone developed for trend-setters and multi-taskers who want to easily flip between capturing the perfect selfie and sending out a series of emails, or catch-up on the latest episode on-the-go.

The Galaxy Watch3: A fashionable and functional wearable that enables you to track all your wellness metrics with a flip of your wrist, turning your daily walk into a dazzling catwalk.

The Serif: A one-of-a-kind television that blends iconic design and startling picture to transform every show or film into the ultimate viewing experience, as if you’re walking through the Musée D’Orsay yourself.

The Sero: The revolutionary Sero TV is a world first design, enabling you to seamlessly flip between horizontal and vertical content so you can watch Netflix and mobile social content with ease.

LONDON, UK – 6 December 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd – A new nationwide study has found that 52[1] percent of Britons claim they very rarely or never

LONDON, UK – 6 December 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd – A new nationwide study has found that 52[1] percent of Britons claim they very rarely or never take cash out with them on routine trips, instead using their card or mobile phone to make payments.

In fact, only 14 percent of the nation always carry cash – and just 8 per cent of 18-to-29-year-olds.

Overall, a staggering 83 percent of Brits are making fewer cash purchases than they were doing so five years ago, while 72 percent believe it’s really only older folk who are using cash routinely these days.

More than a third (36 percent) of the 1500 Brits polled said they only ever use a purse or wallet if travelling further than usual, while a fifth (18 percent) never take one out.

And 16 percent of Brits can’t even remember the last time they brought their wallet or purse out with them.

More than a quarter (26 percent) of us think it’s a big faff having to count out change to pay for things, and an efficient 19 percent say that it simply takes too long.

Less than half, 46 percent, are still using a wallet or purse every time they leave the house.

Meanwhile 14 percent admit it’s been at least six months since they used one.

Little wonder then, perhaps, that almost two thirds of the nation (65 percent) think the days of carrying cash are coming to an end.

The study, by Samsung Pay, found that the main reasons Britons are preferring to pay for products and services using a card or mobile payments on their phone are worries about losing cash while out (24 percent), concerns about how hygienic it is to use cash anymore (23 percent), and feeling vulnerable about getting cash out in public (22 percent).

The study found that 73 percent of restaurant meals are paid for by a cashless transaction, and 64 percent of Brits always pay for a drink in a pub by card or phone.

A further 83 percent will pay for their big food shop by cashless means, 85 percent pay for clothes and shoes by card or phone, and 71 percent do not use cash for their train or bus tickets.

52 percent of haircuts are now paid for without cash, and the same number (52 percent) of car parking fees are now paid for with a cashless transaction.

The research also found that 89 percent of the nation believe there’ll come a point soon when neither cards or cash is used, and people will pay for everything with their mobile phone.

And almost a quarter of Brits (24 percent) believe phone payments are much more secure and feel safer than using a card or cash for transactions.

Teg Dosanjh, Director of Connected Services and Technology, Samsung UK and Ireland, said: “It’s no surprise that we’re seeing so few cash transactions being made by customers now, and when you factor in the number of shops and restaurants that have stopped accepting cash altogether, it’s easy to see why. In addition, we’ve become more tech savvy, with a rise in the number of Brits choosing to use their phones to make contactless payments, with many of us just wanting the flexibility and convenience of being able to pay however, and whenever we choose.”

“Samsung Pay gives customers a safer and more secure way to pay over traditional plastic cards because they offer multiple layers of security and protection built in, so customers can tap and go, knowing their money is protected when out spending. We’re also more conscious of hygiene now, with customers preferring to avoid touching the traditional chip and pin machines and instead using their phone to tap and pay, which has likely added to this shift towards mobile payments.”

Meanwhile almost a quarter of Britons (24 percent) still have a penny jar or piggy bank sitting at home, filled with coins they never use.

And although picking up a penny is said to bring good luck, 39 percent of Brits just wouldn’t bother doing so – with a further 16 percent admitting it would be grotty and unhygienic.

For more information on Samsung Pay, please visit: https://www.samsung.com/uk/samsung-pay/

[1] The research was carried out by Perspectus Global, on behalf of Samsung. A total of 1500 UK residents were surveyed. Fieldwork ran from 12th to 15th November 2021.

London, UK – 16th November – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the global availability of its all-new Smart Monitor, an innovative, do-it-all

London, UK – 16th November – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the global availability of its all-new Smart Monitor, an innovative, do-it-all screen that brings together an unprecedented suite of features for work, learning and entertainment in a single display.

Designed to meet the new needs of today’s consumers, who are now working, learning and consuming entertainment at home, Samsung Smart Monitor incorporates powerful mobile and PC connectivity, remote home office and learning features as well as Smart Hub, a comprehensive entertainment hub, similar to Samsung’s built-in Smart TV platform.

“Around the world, work, education and entertainment have transformed into home-centered activities,” said Hyesung Ha, Senior Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “With this new normal, it is no surprise that most indicators show a rise in digital activities and many are rethinking their technology use at home. Our new Smart Monitor is a direct response to that demand. Consumers no longer have to choose between a screen for one or the other as this display brings it all together.”

The new Samsung Smart Monitor provides numerous connectivity options for both PCs and smartphones. Users can connect their personal mobile devices with just a simple tap using Tap View[1], App Casting or Apple AirPlay 2. For a complete desktop experience using a mobile device, users can also connect to the monitor with Samsung DeX.

For home office and learning, the display operates Microsoft Office 365 applications[2] without a PC connection thanks to embedded Wi-Fi, allowing users to view, edit and save documents in the cloud directly from the monitor. Remote Access also allows users wirelessly and remotely access files from a PC or view content from a laptop whether it is situated elsewhere in the house or at the office. The USB Type-C port[3] allows for data, display and power — up to 65W — with just a single connection, keeping the area around the monitor clean and beautiful. Multiple USB ports and Bluetooth 4.2 allow for additional connection versatility while the display has built-in two channel speaker.

When work is done, the display also operates as a complete entertainment hub with the ability to stream content with Samsung’s Smart Hub. The monitor’s app store allows users to stream their favorite content including Netflix, HBO and YouTube[4] even without a connection to a PC or mobile device. Content can easily be accessed with the supplied remote control, which includes streaming service hot keys. The display can also be controlled by voice thanks to Bixby integration.

The Smart Monitor also features technology designed to make viewing more comfortable. Adaptive Picture optimizes picture quality for any viewing environment by automatically adjusting brightness and color temperature in response to room conditions. This ensures the most comfortable viewing experience in any environment, reducing eye strain even after extended use. The monitor also features a special eye-saver mode to reduce blue light.

The monitor is available in two models at launch. The M7 supports Ultra-High Definition (UHD) resolution in 32-inch while the M5 supports Full HD (FHD) resolution in 32-inch and 27-inch options.

The Samsung Smart Monitor will be available from November 16 in United States, Canada and China, and Samsung plans to expand launching markets starting the end of November. For more information, please visit: https://displaysolutions.samsung.com/monitor/detail/1762/32M70A.

London, UK – 12 November 2020 – A digital collection of some of the world’s most iconic and intriguing lost artworks, Samsung today announces the launch of its Missing Masterpieces exhibition. Featuring pieces that cannot be physically seen anywhere as they are feared to have been lost forever, they have been brought together for the very first time to be enjoyed by anyone, wherever they are, and to aid the work being done to recover them.

They include “View Auvers-sur-Oise” by Paul Cézanne, which went missing when burglars took advantage of New Year’s Eve 1999 festivities to steal the painting in cinematic style. Climbing adjacent scaffolding, smashing a skylight, dropping a rope ladder down and shielding their path with a smoke bomb. As well as “Chloe & Emma” by Barbora Kysilkova, which was stolen in broad daylight from a museum in Norway. The thieves plucked out more than 200 nails to pull out the canvas, leaving its frame in an immaculate state.

As our lives have become more virtual, the power that technology has to bring people together has never been clearer. The Missing Masterpieces exhibition features some of the most striking lost paintings produced by world-renowned artists such as Van Gogh, Cézanne and Monet; and allows everyone to experience and learn more about these beautiful pieces of art, some of which may never be found.

Across Europe, the pandemic has had a significant impact on art and culture. Millions of euros’ worth of art is stolen every year, but during lockdown alone, at least six pieces were stolen including Van Gogh’s “Spring Garden”, which was taken on what would have been the artist’s 167th birthday.

Nathan Sheffield, Samsung Europe Head of Visual Display, said, “Art is for the enjoyment of everyone, and we have a collective responsibility to protect and preserve our culture for future generations. This is why we are launching Missing Masterpieces, to ensure priceless pieces that may never be seen again, can be enjoyed by as wide an audience as possible. The Frame embodies this, helping to democratise art for everyone and acting as both a TV and a window into the world of art.”

The Frame is unlike any other television. With its uniquely frame-like design, it functions both as a multi-media art platform while blending into home décor when it is not in use. From the moment it is turned off, Art Mode turns on – transforming the once blank, black screen into a gallery for the world’s most magnificent art collections. Equipped with QLED technology, the colours of the original works of art are expressed in high definition. All 12 artworks in the Missing Masterpieces exhibition are available to The Frame users for free in the Art Store catalogue.

The exhibition has been curated in partnership with Dr Noah Charney, esteemed art crime expert and founder of The Association for Research into Crimes Against Art (ARCA) and features beautiful masterpieces that global law enforcement agencies are actively trying to recover.

Dr Noah Charney, Founder of ARCA, said, “Before you get to work on a puzzle, you want to gather all the pieces, right? It’s the same with a crime or a mysterious loss. From contradictory media reports to speculation in Reddit feeds – the clues are out there, but the volume of information can be overwhelming. This is where technology and social media can help by bringing people together to assist the search. It’s not unheard of for an innocuous tip posted online to be the key that unlocks a case.”

The Missing Masterpieces exhibition will be live for three months (12 November – 10 February 2021). To find out more check out the Art Store or visit the Missing Masterpieces website here: https://www.samsung.com/uk/explore/entertainment/missing-masterpieces-and-lost-art-on-the-frame/
