LONDON, UK – SEPTEMBER 26, 2024 – Today, Samsung Electronics UK announced innovations that provide users with smarter and more efficient ways to control their energy. The company unveiled new technology and partnerships to optimise energy usage throughout the home.

Ahead of Winter, Samsung UK revealed a host of advancements powered by SmartThings Energy: eco-tech provider Hive’s thermostats will be integrated into SmartThings from the middle of October, so customers will benefit from an extension of the British Gas PeakSave program, and Tesla technology will also be compatible with the SmartThings App.

Increased SmartThings Connectivity with Hive Integration

To further simplify how users manage their energy usage at home, SmartThings Energy is integrating Hive’s thermostats, so that households can control their home’s temperature directly through the SmartThings app.

The integration of Hive thermostats allows consumers to check their home’s current temperature and set new temperature targets as well as setting at home temperatures when customers are on the move. Installing a Hive Thermostat can save customers up to £172 per year on their heating bill[1]

Maximising Energy Savings through Leading Partnerships

In partnership with British Gas, Samsung UK is also helping households better manage their energy use and make savings when it comes to their energy bills. The expansion of the collaboration between Samsung and British Gas allows SmartThings Energy users to automate appliances, and other connected products, as part of British Gas PeakSave.

The PeakSave program rewards customers for reducing their electricity usage during peak hours, to times when there is more renewable energy readily available. SmartThings Energy users can automate appliances’ operating modes during these times, allowing them to easily take advantage of periods when electricity is half-price due to there being lots of renewable energy available, and rewards users for shifting their electricity to when there is less demand. So far, British Gas has paid over £13 million to 650,000 customers taking part in the scheme.

Boosted Home Energy Experience with Tesla Energy API for UK users

Energy-saving starts within the home, but it doesn’t need to stop there. Earlier this year at CES Samsung announced its collaboration with Tesla for SmartThings Energy and now UK users can benefit from this increased connectivity, allowing users to easily access information relating to users’ energy production, storage and usage via SmartThings Energy.

Made possible through Tesla’s open APIs, the expansion of SmartThings Energy allows users to connect with their Tesla Powerwall, and Solar Inverter for a more streamlined smart home experience.

In addition to making it easier to manage energy consumption, this integration allows for better preparations for power disruptions and outages. SmartThings syncs up with the Tesla app’s Powerwall ‘Storm Watch’ function – meaning in the case of extreme weather events users can be alerted through SmartThings on their connected Samsung TV’s and mobile.

Deborah Honig, Chief Customer Officer, Samsung UK and Ireland, comments: “We know that controlling energy consumption is a top priority for our customers, and as we head into winter this becomes an even bigger priority.

“We are continually evolving our SmartThings energy management features and extending our partnerships with British Gas and Tesla, to make it even easier and more intuitive for customers to manage their home energy usage.

“By providing new automated tech solutions that help our customers save time, money and energy, we are seeing even more people do that ‘little bit extra’ every day to take of their home and the planet.”

Dan Rosenfield, Managing Director of Hive, added: “We are delighted to be extending our partnership with Samsung to energise a greener, fairer future for our customers. As we head into Winter, we are making it easier for our customers to save money on their energy bills and cut carbon through integrating our market-leading propositions into the SmartThings app.”

SmartThings is the only place where Tesla Powerwalls, British Gas PeakSave, Samsung Smart Home appliances, and Smart Meters can be managed in one place to optimise the use of energy across the home. These new partnerships and innovations are part of Samsung’s drive to enhance the multi-device experience of SmartThings users.

[1] Saving of £172.17 based on a Ofgem typical annual gas consumption of 11,500 kWh at the October 2024 UK average unit price of 6.238 pence per kWh including VAT. Emissions saved per year: 508 kg CO2 (0.184kg per kWh). Actual savings will vary depending on individual circumstances./span>

To give households a helping hand whilst preparing their homes to host this spring/summer, Samsung’s teamed up with ‘cleaninfluencer’, The Organised Mum, who’s shared her sparkling hacks:

Now that the weather is getting a little warmer, don’t be afraid to let the fresh air in. It is the best way to get rid of lingering smells that might have built up without you noticing. After everyone being couped up inside during the winter months, your home will thank you for giving it a good airing. And the best bit? It’s completely free and your home will smell as fresh as a daisy.

It doesn’t matter how much you have scrubbed and tidied, if your home doesn’t smell clean then it might make your visitors turn up their nose. Once you have aired your home, you can now add in some of your favourite scents. A lovely way to do this is to embrace diffusers and your favourite essential oil. Try and stay away from artificial fragrances as they tend to mask bad smells and make them worse. Air your home first and then add in a lovely fresh scent.

Has the housework fallen to the bottom of the list because you have had no visitors? If you feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start, then begin with a room that you use the most. This will make the biggest visual impact. If you are short on time, stick to the big-ticket items that will make the biggest difference. I always usually start with either the kitchen or the living room (I like to think of these as the engine rooms of the home).

Wash pet bedding and pet bowls. This is often something that gets forgotten about but is so important. Doggy smells are the worst so make sure you pay attention to the source of the smell, the pet bedding, the feeding bowls and maybe even get your pet groomed too. You might love your pet to pieces, but your guests probably won’t appreciate any nasty smells.

As the sun comes out and starts to shine through the windows, it can reveal a layer of dust that has accumulated over the darker months, now is the time to tackle it. Grab a cloth and dampen it ever so slightly. Use this on the dusty surfaces. The damp cloth will trap dust onto the fabric ensuring you are not moving the dust back into the air again.

Use the attachments on your vacuum such as the dedicated one that you can find on the Samsung Bespoke Jet vacuum. Yes, the crevice tool and soft brush attachments are there for a reason! Use the soft brush attachment to run along skirting boards and woodwork and use the crevice tool to get in those hard-to-reach areas that might not have seen a vacuum in a while.

Get mother nature doing a bit of cleaning too. Adding some indoor plants will not only brighten up your home, but certain varieties can help to clean the air. How about trying a Spider Plant?

Look up, can you see any cobwebs? Get that Samsung Bespoke Jet vacuum out again and pop on the soft brush attachment. Get into all the corners of the ceilings and cornicing. Start from one corner of the room and work your way around methodically. Don’t neglect your light fittings, especially fabric lampshades as they can attract a lot of dust. You can use folded over sticky tape to gently lift dirt from a fabric lampshade.

Do you have guests staying overnight? When was the last time you flipped or vacuumed the mattress? Vacuuming the mattress will help get rid of trapped dirt and dust, so will really help an overnight guest who has allergies. If you can (and the weather is on your side) try and get your mattress outside into the fresh air as this will help to get rid of any stale odours. If you are unable to get it outside, then strip the mattress of all sheets and open the windows in the bedroom.

Freshen up rugs by getting them into the fresh air. Try beating as much of the excess dirt out as you can and then vacuum both sides so that you don’t bring the dirt back into your home.

Dan Harvie, VP, Head of Home Appliances, Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd: “Our research reveals we’re a nation of cleaning loving individuals, with almost a third (29%) deep cleaning their homes every 3-6 months – and 15 per cent more than every three months!

“Vacuuming topped the list of regular cleaning jobs the nation enjoys the most, which is encouraging as we’ve just launched the Bespoke Jet vacuum, a cordless vacuum cleaner with an All-in-One Clean Station that can automatically empty the dust and delivers hygienic cleaning – making spring cleaning even easier.”

London, UK – 29th October – Businesses up and down the country are considering measures they can put in place to help serve their customers

London, UK – 29th October – Businesses up and down the country are considering measures they can put in place to help serve their customers safely. For industries such as fashion, hair and beauty, which depend on a certain level of customer, this has been a significant challenge. Fortunately, solutions are available that can provide employees and customers alike, with that extra level of reassurance, such as the Samsung AirDresser.

The Samsung AirDresser is a unique innovation keeps clothes refreshed and removes lingering odors and hidden germs. It offers 99.9% sanitization[1] with the sanitize cycle and gently cares for clothing.

Ms Tammam the owner and designer behind sustainable fashion label Atelier Tammam explains, “all companies across the fashion industry are having to learn how to adapt to new circumstances. We’re trying to operate in a way that is safe and secure for both staff and customers and really considering what precautions we can take to make this possible – from wearing facemasks and taking zoom calls, to washing our hands and using the Samsung AirDresser to sanitize clothes.”

She goes on to explain that, “at Atelier Tammam we have been using the Samsung AirDresser to ensure all clothes are sanitized straight after a trial or use, so they go back on the rail ready for the next person and are safe for staff to touch too. This has been incredible for us. While we would always give clothes a steam between fittings, the AirDresser saves us so much time and offers a greater guarantee of sanitization, which means I can feel confident offering garments that I know are completely clean and safe to my customers.”

For Hair stylist Leo Bancroft, the challenges are slightly different. He explains that “as a hairdresser a certain amount of customer contact is inevitable, but we have been taking every precaution possible to ensure the comfort and safety of everyone in the salon. This has included wearing PPE, as well as sanitizing all gowns and staff aprons in the Samsung AirDresser after each use.”

Expanding on how the salon has been using the AirDresser and the positive implications for business, Leo says, “The Samsung AirDresser has been a great addition to the salon and the benefits are numerous. Not only does it have tangible advantages in that it sanitizes the items reducing the chances of germs being spread, but it also gives people that extra level of mental reassurance. Customers feel more confident booking an appointment if they know that there are precautions like the AirDresser in place. It means they can relax and enjoy the experience more which results in return custom. At the same time it also gives our staff a level of comfort, knowing that the chances of germs being transferred are minimal.”

Dan Harvie, Vice President – Head of Domestic Appliances UK & Ireland at Samsung commented: “The Samsung AirDresser is an innovative solution for businesses to help them remove hidden germs from garments, keeping staff and customers safe. The appliance works by using innovative technology to loosen and remove dust, sanitize, and delicately dry clothing at a low temperature, also reducing the worry of shrinkage or heat damage.”

The AirDresser is simple to set up and requires no plumbing installation, meaning it can be delivered and put in to use by businesses the very same day. It’s simple to operate and highly effective at sanitizing and caring for items. Whether a fashion store, a hair salon, a beauty therapists or spa, the AirDresser can provide a quick and easy solution to handling garments, coats, towels or aprons.

[1]Eliminates 99.9% of Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 6538 and Escherichia coli ATCC 25922 bacteria, testing done by Intertek on 100% cotton. Awarded the British Allergy Foundation Seal of Approval for reduction in exposure to Live House Dust Mites, Fungi/Mould and Bacteria Allergen

“This year has seen us completely re-evaluate our relationship with technology, in a way that no-one could have expected,” said Benjamin Braun, Chief Marketing Officer, Samsung Europe. “At Samsung, we not only embrace these changes, but aim to stay one step ahead – already innovating with the future in mind. Today was just a taste of what is to come from Samsung as we continue to bring you products that fuel a Life Unstoppable.”

Taking the entertainment experience to the next level both in, and outdoors

Samsung showcased the brand’s move into outdoor entertainment technology. The Terrace is the brand’s first screen built for outdoor viewing. The Terrace and the Terrace Soundbar have an IP55 rating protecting them from outdoor conditions such as rain, humidity, dust and insects.

An immersive gaming experience that transports you straight into the action

Gaming is an industry that continues to evolve, it’s so much more than just a first-person shooter or adventure role-play – games have become a place to connect with others and share new experiences. This year has seen gaming platforms host fashion launches, festival sets, and even Samsung’s Life Unstoppable experience.

Samsung delivers the best possible gaming experience, whether that be on-the-go through our Galaxy portfolio, such as the new Note20, or at home with our QLED TVs and Odyssey monitors. The new flagship Odyssey monitors, the G9 and G7, boast a world-first 1,000-millimetre curved screen, one millimetre response time and 240Hz refresh rate, immersing consumers in the heart of the game. The HDR10+ QLED screen brings game scenery to life in true-to-life quality with optimised brightness and contrast. The brand-new Odyssey G5, available to buy now in select countries, joins the existing Odyssey flagship models. G5 contains all the technology you expect from a Samsung gaming monitor in addition to Flicker-Free technology that reduces eye fatigue so gamers can remain at the top of their game for longer.

Starting next month, Samsung will unite gamers once again with Samsung Odyssey League, a ground-breaking Esports competition, set to take the European gaming community by storm.

Pioneering connected mobile innovation that builds on Samsung’s legacy of bold, intelligent technology

This year, consumers have relied on mobile technology more than ever before. Mobile devices have facilitated everything from staying connected to loved ones and keeping on top of school or work, to staying up to date with gaming or fitness goals. Connected experiences sit at the heart of Samsung and the brand’s seamless Galaxy Ecosystem works perfectly together to help you get the most out of every moment.

With consumers working, living and entertaining in one space, the need for a compact entertainment device has never been more important. The newest addition to Samsung’s tablet family, Galaxy Tab A7 provides the ultimate solution to this. Its 10.4-inch screen housed in a symmetrical bezel with a premium metal finish provides a sleek and balanced design. With an 80% screen to body ratio, Quad Dolby Atmos speakers and long-lasting battery, the Galaxy Tab A7 is the ultimate on-the-go picture and sound entertainment experience. It is also perfect for the kids with an all-new Samsung Kids app that features a variety of educational and entertaining content.

This year has seen homes double as gyms and the demand for fitness tracking wearables has increased1, as customers search for ways to maintain a healthy lifestyle. To answer this increased demand Samsung today announced a new wearables device, Galaxy Fit2. Galaxy Fit2 is your perfect fitness partner, with a slim lightweight design, long-lasting battery and advanced tracking features.

It automatically detects and tracks up to five different types of activity providing fitness insights such as calories burned, heart rate, distance and more. It will also monitor your sleep patterns, providing daily analysis and a unique Sleep Score. The groove design can help reduce sweating and 3D glass display comes with over 70 different face options so you can swap out to best suit your style. What’s more, it runs for up to 15 days without needing to recharge2, so you can focus on your fitness goals without having to worry about running low on battery.

Galaxy 5G has transformed the connected experience and Samsung, with a large portfolio of 5G-enabled devices and end-to-end support, is uniquely positioned to make the true potential of 5G a reality. Samsung announced that a new 5G-enabled phone will be joining the Galaxy A Series line-up later this year; the Galaxy A42 5G. Packed with all the features you can expect from an A Series device including a unique modern design and new quad camera layout, the Galaxy A42 5G boasts a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display and instantly connects you to super-fast download and streaming. It is a device that keeps up, helping you capture and express every moment.

Last year, Samsung disrupted the industry with a revolutionary foldable smartphone. Samsung continues to pioneer the industry forward with the innovative foldable category by showing off the next generation of its foldable Galaxy Z portfolio – the Galaxy Z Fold2 5G.

This latest innovation in foldable phone technology, now available for pre-order, builds on Samsung’s legacy of innovation – combining stunning design with revolutionary improved hardware. It comes in two colours – Mystic Black and Mystic Bronze – and thanks to unrivalled hinge technology, effortlessly moves from a 6.2-inch edge to edge cover screen display, to immersive 7.6-inch main screen Dynamic AMOLED 2X display when unfolded.

With technology now working harder than ever before, Samsung also recognised a need for a new charging station that can power up more of your devices simultaneously. Wireless Trio Charger is a brand-new wireless charging solution designed to charge compatible devices all at once, offering everyday convenience and ease.

Home appliances that help consumers customise their lifestyles and embrace sustainable living

Samsung is expanding its offerings of flexible home appliances with the Bespoke refrigerator. Launching this October in Europe, the modular refrigerator can be customised in a variety of ways with easy-to-update colours and materials. The possibilities of configurations are endless with Bespoke, as it offers consumers complete flexibility to create a personalised solution for their kitchens throughout every stage of their lives.

Samsung is also paying attention to the increased focus on minimising food wastage at home. Recent trends are showing that consumers are visiting the supermarkets less but buying more when they do, Samsung identified a need for refrigerators that maximise your grocery shop and keep food fresher for longer3. The RB7300T Classic Refrigerator offers revolutionary storage capacity thanks to Samsung’s unique SpaceMax technology that allows for up to 386 litres of storage and three different height options, so you can keep up with longer grocery lists. Its energy performance also helps consumers maintain a sustainable lifestyle. Optimised to save, the Digital Inverter Compressor automatically adjusts its speed depending on what’s in your fridge.

Samsung also welcomed a new era of smart, energy efficient laundry with the new WW9800T Washing Machine and DV8000T Tumble Dryer. The Washing Machine comes with intuitive Smart Control + that automatically learns your preferred settings and cycles. Samsung’s ecobubble technology also maximises the efficiency of detergent by mixing it with air and water to turn it into soft bubbles. Powered by the iconic QuickDrive technology, the new line-up cuts wash times to 39 minutes for a full clean4.

When the Washing Machine is paired with Samsung’s new Tumble Dryer, it is an end-to-end personalised laundry experience. They communicate through an Auto Cycle5 Link to automatically set the right drying course for the load you’ve just washed. The new dryer also has A+++ energy rated Heat Pump technology which is Samsung’s most efficient yet.

London, UK — Aug. 26, 2020 — Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the global launch of new Home Appliances, including a full smart laundry lineup and an innovative Fridge Freezer.

Headlining the new laundry lineup is the WW9800T washing machine equipped with features to customise the laundry process to achieve the same powerful wash with less time, energy and effort, as well as Samsung’s ecobubble and QuickDrive technology. The new range will first launch in the European market and will expand globally later this year.

The new RB7300 refrigerator delivers core cooling performance while offering large, flexible capacity to meet all types of food storage needs. The RB7300 will first launch in Europe in August this year.

“We strive to develop Home Appliances that can boost lifestyle values while maximising performance, keeping in mind the desires and needs of our consumers,” said Hyesoon Yang, Vice President of Samsung Electronics. “Our new product ranges offer solutions that help consumers lead customised eco-friendly lifestyles and we will continue to direct our efforts toward creating products that enrich daily lives.”

Save Energy, Time, and Effort with a Customized Laundry Process

The new WW9800T washing machine brings together Samsung’s most powerful technologies that cut down on wash times and energy consumption while providing users with a personalised laundry experience.

Samsung’s revolutionary QuickDrive technology allows the WW9800T to cut washing time to 39 minutes for a full clean*. The independently moving drum and backplate in the WW9800T allows for more dynamic actions, cleaning garments more thoroughly in less time. Samsung’s Digital Inverter Compressor adds to energy efficiency by utilising strong magnets for a quiet and strong performance.

The new washing machines also come with Samsung’s ecobubble technology that maximises the effect of detergent by turning it into soft bubbles – allowing for faster penetration into fabrics, even in cold water. Colder washes save heating energy, while also protecting the fabrics and colours of garments.

Adding to Samsung’s reliable performance is Smart Control +, which learns users’ behavioral patterns to recommend cycles and offer a personalised laundry experience. With this technology, the new Samsung washing machines familiarise themselves with user preferences to suggest wash cycles on its display. Paired with a simple user interface, Smart Control + eliminates the need for users to scroll through cycles to find the right one, or to input their individualised settings each time. The Auto Optimal Wash feature uses sensors to detect the laundry load’s weight and soilage, to determine the optimal amount of water and detergent to dispense. Machines with Smart Control + are also compatible with SmartThings. When the washing’s done, customers will get a notification on their phone with the SmartThings app*. Customers can then use the app* to schedule washes remotely from their phone and get guides to find the perfect wash setting.

The user convenience extends to the drying process with Auto Cycle Link**, which pairs compatible washing machines and dryers directly to automatically set the best dryer cycle for each load.

Maximised Storage Space with Freshness that Lasts

Thanks to Samsung’s SpaceMax Technology, the new RB7300 maximises fridge space without needing wider exterior dimensions that may clash with modern kitchen cabinets. SpaceMax allows the interior walls of the fridge to be much thinner due to its high-efficiency insulation that provides a greater internal capacity of 386L – 18 liters larger than the previous model. The new refrigerator therefore matches the standard 600mm cabinet-depth design while offering more space. This feature is especially welcome now, as grocery-shopping habits are changing; people are reducing trips to the shop to purchase large quantities of groceries at a time, shopping online more. All these trends lead to the need for greater efficiency when it comes to storage space in refrigerators.

The new Samsung refrigerator is also designed to preserve the freshness of food items twice as long.**** to either split the drawer into two zones with different temperatures or use it as one. The left side is cooler, so it’s optimised for meat and fish storage, while the right side is great for fruit and vegetables.

The new model ensures that all stored food is properly cooled no matter where it’s placed within the refrigerator. Equipped with the most popular Samsung refrigeration technology features, the new fridge is decked out with All Around Cooling for maximum freshness.

The Classic Fridge Freezer also boasts a contemporary look that introduces an added level of sophistication to any modern kitchen interior. The stainless-steel finish and sleek flat front are representative of Samsung appliances’ simple yet refined design. With a Clean Metal Back that comprises of a smooth metal safety cover for vital coils and cables behind the unit, the Fridge Freezer offers a minimalist approach look and feel.

The compressor for the latest Fridge Freezer automatically adjusts its speed based on cooling demand across seven levels. The advanced compressor thus requires less energy, minimises noise, and even reduces wear and tear for a durable, long-lasting performance from the refrigerator.

The RB7300 refrigerator and new laundry lineup will be featured at Samsung’s ‘Life Unstoppable’ virtual event on Sep. 2.

*Tested on WW8000T Using Super Speed Cycle with 5kg load

**Auto Cycle Link is only available when both the washing machine and tumbles dryer have AI Control and are Wi-Fi connected.

***Available on Android and iOS. An internet connection is required.

****Based on internal testing. Applies when set as MAX mode. Results may vary depending on the level of food freshness, usage conditions and various other factors.
