LONDON, United Kingdom – 13 March, 2024 – Samsung Electronics has once again demonstrated its dominance in the global TV market, marking an unprecedented 18-year streak at the forefront of the industry.

Market research firm Omdia reported that Samsung has achieved a 30.1% share of the global TV market in 2023, reinforcing its status as the industry leader since 2006. This success is largely due to the company’s strategic focus on premium and large-screen TV categories, driven by its cutting-edge QLED and OLED models.

Since its launch in 2017, Samsung’s QLED TV lineup, including the latest Neo QLED models, has surpassed cumulative sales of 40 million units. In 2023 alone, the QLED lineup achieved sales of 8.31million units.

Samsung asserted notable leadership in the premium TV sector – specifically for TVs over 75 inches, maintaining a lead with 33.9% sales share. In addition, thanks to robust sales of 98-inch models, TVs over the 90 inches have maintained the lead with a 30.4% market share.

Building on its success in the ultra-large and high-end TV market, Samsung has also made significant strides in the OLED sector. The company’s OLED TV lineup recorded 1.01 million units sold in 2023, capturing a market share of 22.7%. With the expanded OLED lineup in 2024, Samsung’s market share in the OLED sector is projected to surge in 2024.

“We are proud to be recognized as the market leader in the global TV sector for 18 consecutive years, a testament to the enduring trust and loyalty our customers place in Samsung,” stated SW Yong, President and Head of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are deeply committed to advancing the industry, moving beyond exceptional picture quality to offer more meaningful and valuable experiences.”

At CES 2024, Samsung Electronics unveiled the groundbreaking NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, heralding the start of the AI Screen Era. The advancement in state-of-the-art chipsets and capabilities is set to redefine the smart TV domain, integrating sophisticated AI powered by Tizen OS to establish AI screens as center of the smart home innovation.

2024 is shaping up to be another year of significant innovation for Samsung. With advancements in processors and cutting-edge AI features, Samsung is on course to further transform home entertainment and set new benchmarks in the TV industry.

LONDON, UK – January 13, 2022 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its 2022 QLED and Lifestyle TVs have been recognised by leading global

LONDON, UK – January 13, 2022 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that its 2022 QLED and Lifestyle TVs have been recognised by leading global certification institutes for eye safety and colour technology. The news comes as the company announced its newest QLED and Lifestyle TVs at CES 2022.

The 2022 Samsung Lifestyle TVs won the ‘Eye Care’ Certification from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) in Germany, one of Europe’s largest technical-scientific associations with more than 36,000 members. The certification applies to Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle TV models including The Frame, The Serif and The Sero. The screens are evaluated on various categories, including ‘Safety’, ‘Gentle to the eyes’, flicker level, uniformity, and colour fidelity.

(From left) Seokwoo Yong, EVP and Head of R&D Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics and Cherif Kedir, President & CEO of VDE

The new Lifestyle TVs were assessed for safety from blue light emission and melatonin inhibition levels based on a light hazard classification method set by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle TVs satisfy the IEC’s standards for screen flickering, which can cause eye fatigue or headache for viewers. They were also recognised for excellence in colour fidelity and picture quality uniformity, both elements of which contribute to eye comfort level while watching TV.

(From left) Seokwoo Yong, EVP and Head of R&D Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics and Wyatt Brannan, Vice President of North America Consumer, Medical & Information Technology of UL

Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle TVs[1] were also verified as ‘Glare-Free’ by Underwriters Laboratories (UL), a leading independent safety science company. UL’s verification validates the ‘Glare-Free’ claim by assessing the products against Unified Glare Rating (UGR) testing standard set by the International Commission on Illumination (CIE). Samsung’s new Lifestyle TV models use a new Matte Display with anti-glare, anti-reflection and anti-fingerprint properties to deliver the optimal brightness and provide the best picture quality without glare.

Reflected Glare, which determines whether the objects on a TV screen are visible even when external light is reflected on the surface

Discomfort Glare, which determines whether a TV screen is too bright

Disability Glare, which determines whether a TV screen is overly bright when watching TV in a dark room

These glare assessments were calculated based on test results of watching TV in both 300 lux, which is equivalent to a brightly lit work area, and in 70 lux, which is usually the value for a dimly lit work area.

(From left) Seokwoo Yong, EVP and Head of R&D Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics and Raj Shah, Vice President at Marketing of Pantone

Additionally, Samsung’s all new 2022 QLED models received the world’s first ‘Pantone Validated’ certification from Pantone, the world-famous brand in the global colour industry and creator of the Pantone Matching System (PMS).

These models receiving this recognition from Pantone include all 20 newly released models – 15 QLED TVs in both 4K and 8K and five monitors. Samsung’s 2022 QLED TV line-up was recognised for its accurate expression of 2,030 Pantone colours and newly added 110 skin tone shades.

“As TVs become more of an entertainment hub in the home, there’s an increased demand for screens with top-tier picture quality that minimize eye strain,” said Seokwoo Yong, Executive Vice President and Head of R&D Team, Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “This recognition from leading global institutes validates our technology that delivers best-in-class images along with the most comfortable watching experience.”

[1] Applicable to Samsung’s 2022 Lifestyle TVs consisting of The Frame, The Serif and The Sero.

UK, London – January 6, 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. shared its vision for the future at the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES). The company introduced new products at its virtual press conference, showing how it’s continuing to innovate by creating solutions that are flexible, intelligently connected, and use AI to understand context to make daily life seamless.

“Our world looks different, and many of you have been faced with a new reality – one where, among other things, your home has taken on a greater significance,” said Sebastian Seung, President and Head of Samsung Research, the advanced R&D hub of the company that leads the development of future technologies for Samsung Electronics’ SET (end-products), addressing the company’s efforts to enhance the at-home technology experience. “Our innovations are designed to provide more personal and more intuitive experiences that express your personality. We’re hard at work to bring you next-generation innovation, with AI as the core enabler, for your better tomorrow.”

Creating More Intimate and Personalised User Experiences

As people spent more time at home last year, the tech they wanted became the tech they needed. In relying on that tech, people came to understand many ways connected solutions could make life easier. TVs were vital for entertainment—and sometimes, fitness. Smart fridges helped with remote shopping and meal prep and Smartphones were indispensable.

Samsung’s continued investments in innovations that adapt to evolving lifestyles enable the company to keep pace with rapid changes. Key innovations unveiled include:

Samsung Bespoke 4-Door Flex: The latest version of the Bespoke refrigerator available in North America this Spring features changeable panels that come with a choice of colors and materials that made the original a success, allowing consumers to adjust their fridge for form and function. The new 4-Door model also includes a brand-new Beverage Center, which gives quick access to a water dispenser and an automatically-filled water pitcher. The 4-door Bespoke also comes equipped with a Dual Auto Ice Maker which makes not only regular cubed ice but also smaller ‘ice bites’ to suit different preferences for cold beverages.

110-inch MICRO LED: This new screen features self-lit inorganic LED with a slim and nearly bezel-less Infinity Screen design that seamlessly blends into the living space. The result is a spectacularly immersive viewing experience with astounding picture quality. The 110-inch MICRO LED also adds “4Vue” (Quad View), a four-way viewing option—so you can keep up with multiple sports at once, or stream a tutorial while playing a video game. MICRO LED will be rolled out globally beginning this spring[1].

Lifestyle TV: Samsung’s cutting-edge lifestyle TV lineup includes The Serif, The Frame, The Sero and The Terrace—a recently launched 4K QLED outdoor TV—as well as Samsung The Premiere, a cinema-like quality 4K laser projector.

SmartThings Cooking: Coming to the United Kingdom later this year, Samsung SmartThings is expanding to make your culinary journey seamless. An automatic Meal Planner powered by Whisk’s Food AI recommends meals for the whole week, makes shopping lists with the ingredients you need, and connects to grocery retailers for one-stop shopping straight from the Family Hub refrigerator or your mobile screen. Recipe instructions can be sent directly to synced Samsung cooking devices to minimise hassles and mistakes[2].

Samsung Health Smart Trainer on Samsung 2021 TVs: Samsung Health seamlessly transforms the home into a personal gym, and the new Smart Trainer[3] feature tracks and analyses posture in real time, just like a personal trainer. During and post-workout, Smart Trainer provides feedback on form, helps you count your reps, and estimates calories burned. With video and interactive training via Bixby-enabled voice control, Samsung Health Smart Trainer elevates and personalises the home workout experience and will be coming to the UK this year.

Bringing AI and Robots to Daily Life including Housekeeping

Samsung has long been at the forefront of AI and robotics innovation, leveraging its seven global AI research centers to advance technology. By bringing AI to its products, Samsung is creating new home experiences—from washing machines that optimise water usage, detergents, and wash cycles, to TVs with a Quantum AI Processor that can upscale HD content into pristine 8K resolution.

The major technologies featured during Samsung’s press conference include the following:

JetBot 90 AI+: Coming to the US 1H 2021, this new vacuum cleaner uses object recognition technology to identify and classify objects to decide the best cleaning path. LiDAR and 3D sensors allow JetBot 90 AI+ to avoid cables and small objects, while still cleaning hard-to-reach corners in your home. Also outfitted with a camera, JetBot 90 AI+ is integrated with the SmartThings app to assist you with home monitoring.

Samsung Bot Care[4]: The latest development in Samsung’s growing robotics lineup, Samsung Bot Care is designed use AI to recognise and respond to your behavior. It will be able to act as both a robotic assistant and companion, helping to take care of the details in your life. It will also learn your schedule and habits and send you reminders to help guide you throughout your busy day.

Samsung Bot Handy[5]: Also in development, Samsung Bot Handy will rely on advanced AI to recognise and pick up objects of varying sizes, shapes and weights, becoming an extension of you and helping you with work around the house. Samsung Bot Handy will be able to tell the difference between the material composition of various objects, utilising the appropriate amount of force to grab and move around household items and objects, working as your trusted partner to help with house chores like cleaning up messy rooms or sorting out the dishes after a meal.

Looking to the future, Samsung is also developing other tangible applications of AI technologies for daily life. Samsung is continuing to build on its Samsung Bot Retail, which would guide users outside the home in retail environments, and GEMS, Samsung’s health-focused exoskeleton as mobility aide. These innovations allow robots and robotic devices to co-exist with humans, enhancing their lives and catering to a variety of lifestyles and different environments.

Technology for a Better Future

Samsung closed its CES 2021 press conference by sharing more on the brand’s vision for how technology can enable progress and create a better tomorrow for all. Samsung believes that there is no single all-encompassing solution; a sustainable future requires investments across a broad spectrum. That’s why Samsung is focused on three key areas that are poised to benefit the most from technological innovation: sustainability, education, and accessibility.

“At Samsung, we are always looking for ways to build a better, more sustainable future,” said Sandeep Rana, Senior Manager, Environmental Sustainability Specialist at Samsung, who shared Samsung’s sustainability message at the press conference. “With a focus on the environment, people and society, we will continue to provide our consumers with responsible tools and technologies to address our challenges today and enable a better future for all.”

As part of its commitment to creating a circular economy, Samsung is developing programs and packaging solutions that promote a sustainable product lifecycle—from beginning to end:

Galaxy Upcycling at Home: At the event, Samsung announced an update to its Galaxy Upcycling program called Galaxy Upcycling at Home. The new program reimagines the lifecycle of an older Galaxy phone and offers consumers options on how they might be able to repurpose their device to create a variety of convenient IoT tools.

TV Eco Packaging: Additionally, Samsung announced that its eco-packaging would expand to QLED, UHD TV, monitor, and audio products in 2021. As part of an ongoing commitment to eco-consciousness, Samsung is creating products and solutions with sustainability at the core. For example, Samsung’s new Solar Cell Remote Control—made in part with recycled plastic—can be charged via solar or indoor lighting, reducing battery waste.

From working at home to working up a sweat, you might be surprised by just how much you can do with your Samsung Smart TV. That’s because, in addition to offering next-level viewing experiences, Samsung’s newest TVs come packed with innovations designed to amplify our enjoyment of all kinds of content.

The TVs’ immersive displays are just as suitable for streaming heart-pumping workouts as they are for catching up on the latest binge-worthy show. And with simple controls for managing apps and connected devices, they make it that much easier to stay productive when working from home.

Read on for our tips on getting the most out of your Samsung Smart TV.

1. Enjoy Free Live TV

With Samsung TV Plus 1, Smart TV users get instant access over 50 channels spanning news, sports, entertainment and more – so they’ll never be at a loss when sitting down to stream.

Samsung TV Plus is 100% free, and comes pre-installed on all 2016 to 2020 Samsung Smart TVs. No downloads, additional devices, or credit cards required. With a simple internet connection, you can pick up where you left off on recently watched shows, discover new ones, and access video-on-demand services with ease.

Samsung TV Plus has also expanded its movie offerings with the launch of channel Rakuten TV. With its growing linear TV offering, Samsung TV Plus has something to suit every interest. Thanks to its diverse range of channels, from sci-fi movies and biopics to action sports and feature films, there’s a channel for every viewer.

2. Work Up a Sweat

As much as we might enjoy our commute-free routines when working or studying from home, it’s still important to stay active throughout the day – even if that means turning your living room into a workout studio.

Luckily for Samsung Smart TV users, at-home workout videos catering to virtually all interests and abilities are just a few taps away.

Simply click on the exercise service of your choice, choose a workout to stream, and get started. It’s as simple as that. With the TVs’ high resolutions, you’ll never miss a step while working up a sweat. And with a variety of services available and more on the way, it’s easy to find the content you need to take your fitness routine to the next level. The Multi View 2 feature lets you split your screen – you can watch a workout on one side and use your phone’s camera to show your positioning on the other side.

Samsung’s new Samsung Health service offers a simple solution to satisfy Smart TV users’ fitness needs. Samsung Health combines free fitness content from world-class partners including the popular meditation app, Calm, as well as, Fitplan, Echelon and Jillian Michaels.

3. Work More Comfortably From Home

In addition to offering a range of options to help keep users active and entertained at home, Samsung Smart TVs make it that much easier to stay productive when it’s time to get to work.

In 2019, Samsung introduced its exclusive Remote Access feature. Available on the company’s latest Smart TVs, it allows users to remotely access and manage their personal computer(s) through their TV, regardless of their PC’s location.4

Remote Access also offers a wide variety of cloud-based documentation services that can make it easier for students to continue studying at home. They can even use a web browser to view online courses and live lectures on their TV’s spacious screen, so they won’t miss a single note or detail.

Remote Access also comes equipped with Wi-Fi Direct, which facilitates seamless screen sharing between TVs and PCs, mobile phones and tablets. This versatile feature opens the door for users to enjoy a wide range of content on their TV’s larger screen.

4. Find Some Peace and Quiet

Even the most media-savvy among us occasionally find ourselves needing to take a break from staring at screens to enjoy some peace and quiet instead. Thankfully, Samsung TVs’ Ambient Mode can help us do just that.

Ambient Mode enables Smart TVs to foster a relaxing environment by displaying works of art, family photos and other calming content when turned off. For those times when you’d like to completely tune out, you can program Ambient Mode to match the wallpaper or background of the space behind your TV, so your screen will blend seamlessly into its surroundings.

LONDON, UK – April 27, 2020 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced its QLED 8K and 4K TVs have received “no photobiological LED hazard” verifications from Underwriters Laboratories(UL), a leading safety science company in the U.S., and “eye safety” certification from Verband Deutscher Elektrotechniker (VDE) in Germany. Samsung becomes the first in the TV industry to receive verifications proving that various types of lights emitted by its QLED TVs pose a no photobiological LED hazard, based on classifications under the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission)’s standards for photobiological safety and eye.

Both safety certification institutions, UL and VDE, tested the 65Q900T 8K model and 65Q90T 4K models – both of which emit the brightest light among Samsung’s 2020 QLED TV lineup – for their blue light, ultraviolet rays and infrared rays.

“While Samsung QLED TVs emit high luminance and brightness, our TVs are designed to protect the eyesight without losing the truly immersive viewing experience,” said Yong Hoon Choi, Executive Vice President of the Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “We are pleased to be recognized by UL and VDE for these efforts and will continue to make the safety of our customers a top priority as we develop our products.”

PORTO, Portugal – 13th February – Samsung Electronics Co. announced today its entire 2019 QLED TV line-up at the Samsung Europe Forum held at the Alfandega

PORTO, Portugal – 13th February – Samsung Electronics Co. announced today its entire 2019 QLED TV line-up at the Samsung Europe Forum held at the Alfandega Porto Congress Centre in Porto, Portugal. The announcement of the complete QLED TV line-up comes ahead of the commercial launch of the new products at retailers across Europe next month.

The key products unveiled in the 2019 QLED line-up include a suite of 8K and 4K TVs, including the 8K Q950R that ranges from 65-inch to 98-inch in size, as well as the 4K Q90R, Q85R, Q80R, Q70R and Q60R that range from 43-inch to 82-inch in size. In total, the expanded 2019 QLED line-up features more than 20 models and includes more large-screen models.

Increasing the number of large-screen models in its TV line-up is part of a wider strategy at Samsung, arising from shifting consumer demands. According to global business information provider IHS Markit, the market for 75-inch or bigger TVs recorded 2.1 million units in 2018 and is expected to grow by 43% to 3 million units this year and to 5.8 million units by 2022.

“We have witnessed our customers’ unfaltering confidence and affection towards Samsung QLED TVs within the past year,” said Jongsuk Chu, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “This year, our QLED 8K and 4K line-ups are addressing the growing demand in the market for ultra-large TVs and we are proud to be able to deliver our most innovative and immersive line-up to date.”

Deep Blacks and Wide Viewing Angles

Samsung’s 2019 QLED TVs feature ‘Ultra Viewing Angle’ technology, which restructures the TV’s panels so the backlight passes through the panel more evenly onto the screen – which means no matter where you’re sitting, you’re guaranteed an incredible viewing experience. In addition to Ultra Viewing Angle, most 2019 QLED TVs are ‘Direct-Full-Array’ models[1] that allow for a more sophisticated control of contrast, delivering much deeper blacks on screen.

Following its adoption in 8K models, Samsung’s new QLED 4K models are also now equipped with its proprietary ‘Quantum Processor,’ enabling the QLED 4K to upscale any picture, no matter the source, to deliver the ultimate 4K picture, with improved brightness, picture quality and sound optimised for each scene through AI upscaling.

In addition, all Samsung 2019 QLED TVs will feature HDR10+, a premium picture processing format. The HDR10+ standard makes bright scenes brighter and dark scenes darker by optimising the contrast for each scene, so that users can enjoy a detail-rich picture. The QLED 8K TVs will also support HDMI 2.1 (8K 60P) transmission.

The New Bixby – an AI-powered Intelligent Assistant

The new Bixby feature on 2019 Samsung Smart TVs gives users the ability to easily access the content they want through voice commands on Samsung’s ‘Universal Guide,’ which helps users search for content they might like based on their previous viewing habits and preferences.

To provide more entertainment options and open platform functionality, 2019 Samsung Smart TVs will offer a new iTunes Movies and TV Shows app and support Apple AirPlay 2. With the new iTunes Movies and TV Shows app, users can access their existing iTunes library and browse the iTunes Store to buy or rent content. With Apple AirPlay 2 support, Samsung customers will also be able to effortlessly play content from Apple devices directly to Samsung Smart TVs.

Additionally, 2019 Samsung Smart TVs are now integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant, so users can turn their TV on or off or control volume via simple voice commands.

Ambient Mode Offers Even Greater Variety of Decoration and Art

Through Ambient Mode, Samsung’s QLED TVs elevate the home by displaying decorative content, useful information, your own photos and can even mimic the texture of the wall behind it[2]. In addition, an even wider variety of themes are also now available, which allows users to further customise Ambient Mode to complement the décor of their homes. Customers can also sync their ambient screens with music when they are not watching TV.

Samsung QLED TVs also come with an automatic light control sensor, allowing it to adapt its brightness levels to give users the optimal viewing experience, whether you’re watching TV late at night or in the bright morning sunshine.

‘The Frame’ and ‘Serif TV’ come with QLED technology

At the Samsung European Forum, Samsung also showcased the 2019 ‘The Frame’ and ‘Serif TV’, which both now feature QLED technology.

When it is not being used to enjoy films or TV shows, The Frame’s Art Mode displays paintings, pictures, digital art or even your own family photos. With customisable bezels, a No Gap Wall Mount that helps it sit flush against your wall, and a brightness sensor that adjusts colours on-screen to fit the ambient brightness of the room, The Frame is able to look convincingly like a framed picture on your wall.

The 2019 ‘Serif TV’ designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec to deliver a bold aesthetic look, comes in 43, 49 and 55 inches. Samsung’s 2019 The Frame and Serif TV will be launched simultaneously to European, Korean and US markets in April this year.

[1] The Samsung QLED 8K Q950R and QLED 4K Q90/85/80/70 feature Direct-Full- Array

[2] Some features of Ambient Mode require a compatible Android or iOS phone and sufficient space around the TV to operate; it will have varying results on complex wall designs, patterns, and/or unusual colours.

Lowe and behold! Daisy Lowe undergoes incredible transformation, blending into a wall of daisies in new photo shoot Daisy Lowe becomes the ‘Invisible Woman’:

Lowe and behold! Daisy Lowe undergoes incredible transformation, blending into a wall of daisies in new photo shoot

Daisy Lowe becomes the ‘Invisible Woman’: world leading body paint artist Carolyn Roper spent eight painstaking hours painting Daisy into two settings: amidst a posy of daisies and reclining on a sofa

The stunning creative was designed to showcase the Samsung QLED TV’s Ambient Mode functionality that enables it to blend seamlessly into the background

British model Daisy Lowe poses up a storm in never seen before photographs, which see the female style icon blended seamlessly into a wall and living room.

Daisy Lowe has been cleverly camouflaged into two stunning set-ups: the first set-up sees the model disguised into a posy of daisies while standing against a bespoke design of her namesake flower. The second set-up sees Daisy in a reclining pose, painted into a cushioned navy couch as she transforms to quite literally become ‘part of the furniture’.

Daisy was painted by world-leading body paint artist, Carolyn Roper, with the set-ups taking a painstaking eight hours to complete. Daisy exhibited her sensational physique as she was meticulously camouflaged into the background environment.

The creative was specially designed to celebrate the launch of the Samsung QLED TV, which can seamlessly blend into the background through its unique Ambient Mode functionality. In the same way Daisy has been painted to disappear into her surroundings, the QLED TV can disappear into the wall behind it by mimicking different wall designs, patterns and colours[1].

The campaign follows recent research commissioned by Samsung that reveals six in ten Brits consider big, blank TV screens to be an eyesore, as they fail to blend in with the rest of the home interior.

Robert King, Vice President Consumer Electronics, Samsung Electronics UK & Ireland, said: “We wanted to celebrate the ground-breaking QLED TV range by showcasing the beauty of its ambient technology. Daisy’s stunning transformation emulates the QLED’s ability to seamlessly replicate its surroundings when it’s put in Ambient Mode. It’s high time we said goodbye to boring blank TV screens in the home.”

Daisy Lowe said: “TV time is definitely my chill out time after work. I think it’s incredibly important to have a calm and serene personal space, especially when we’re surrounded by screens nowadays.

“Over the past few years, I feel we’ve seen TVs get bigger and bigger and these big black rectangles have come to dominate our living spaces a bit. So to have the technology to blend your TV in with your own interior style and taste is an amazing thing.”

The new QLED TV from Samsung signposts a revolution in TV design to match our increasingly sophisticated interior design tastes – it can blend in with the décor of the home or display imagery when not in use1, effectively banishing the ugly black screens which have dominated our living rooms for so long.

[1] Some features of Ambient Mode require a compatible Android or iOS phone and sufficient space around the TV to operate; it will have varying results on complex wall designs, patterns, and/or unusual colours.
