London, UK – 11 November, 2021 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a global leader in technology, announced today that 43 of its new product and service innovations received CES® 2022 Innovation Awards honours, including four Best of Innovations accolades, from the Consumer Technology Association (CTA). The annual awards program spotlights standout design and engineering across multiple consumer technology product categories.

Samsung’s presence across multiple categories exemplifies its deep heritage developing cross-category innovations that propel the industry and society forward. This year, CTA recognised Samsung Honorees in a range of categories, including Computer Peripherals & Accessories, Computer Hardware & Components, Digital Imaging/Photography, Embedded Technologies, Gaming, Headphones & Personal Audio, Health & Wellness, Home Appliances, Home AV Components & Accessories, Mobile Devices and Accessories, Smart Home, Software and Mobile Apps, Sustainability, Wearable Technologies and Video Displays.

The CES Innovation Awards are sponsored by the CTA, the owner and organiser of CES – the world’s largest and most influential technology event. CES 2022 returns to Las Vegas next year, after a digital-only version of the event in 2021. Samsung 30” Smart Induction Built-In Cooktop – Samsung’s Smart Induction Cooktop is recognised in the Home Appliance category. Samsung U.2 ZNS NVMe SSD PM1731a (2/4TB) ― The PM1731a is a state-of-the-art Solid State Drive (SSD) for enterprise and large data centers that supports long-awaited Zoned Namespace (ZNS) technology for the first time in the industry, earning another win in the category of Computer Hardware & Components. Samsung ISOCELL HP1 ― The ISOCELL HP1 scores a win in the category of Embedded Technologies, as the industry’s first 200MP 0.64μm mobile image sensor. The HP1 provides 16,384 x 12,288 effective pixels that match a 1/1.22” optical format. With a 4×4 pixel-binning technology, the sensor can merge 16 pixels into one large 2.56μm-sized pixel to produce bright 12.5MP images with less noise in low-light environments. The sensor can also capture crystal-clear videos at ultra-high definition of up to 8K 30fps.

Easily find your misplaced items

Galaxy SmartTag+, the newest iteration of Samsung’s Galaxy SmartTag, can be attached to everyday items, like a rucksack or keyring, so they can be precisely and easily located via Bluetooth[2] through the SmartThings Find service[3], which is available through not only your Samsung Galaxy smartphone, but your Galaxy Watch, Buds and Tablet too[4].

Locate your belongings visually with new AR Finder technology

Because Galaxy SmartTag+ is both BLE and UWB-enabled, you can now use AR technology to visually guide you towards your missing item. Using your compatible Samsung smartphone camera such as Galaxy S21+ or S21 Ultra, and with an easy-to-follow interface that shows you how far you are from the misplaced item, the AR technology will point you in the direction of your Galaxy SmartTag+. And once you’re closer to the tag’s location, you can choose to call it with a loud ring, so even if it’s slipped under the sofa, you’ll have no problem finding it.

Pinpoint your tag’s location, even when it’s far away

Galaxy SmartTag+ can also leverage SmartThings Find’s powerful helper network, allowing you to locate tagged items on a map, even if it’s misplaced somewhere far from where you are. That’s because the tags use BLE connectivity and the power of the Galaxy device network, where there are millions of available helper devices in the UK to support when your device is out of range. SmartThings Find users can choose to opt in via the SmartThings app and enable their Galaxy smartphone or tablet to help others find their own lost tags or devices. Once you report your tag as missing in SmartThings Find, any nearby Galaxy device that has opted in will anonymously alert the SmartThings server about its location and you will receive a notification. All data in SmartThings Find is encrypted and protected, so the tag’s location isn’t revealed to anyone but you.

Locate your phone from your SmartTag

If you have misplaced your Samsung smartphone, but have your SmartTag+, a quick double tap of the tag’s button can make your phone ring, even if it is on silent. Making it easy and convenient to find your missing smartphone.

Remotely control your smart devices with the click of a button

On top of that, Galaxy SmartTag+ and SmartTag are helpful for more than just locating lost possessions. Forgot to turn off your TV or bedside lamp but you’ve already left the house? Rather than running back home, you can use your SmartTag+ or SmartTag to turn off the light remotely[5]. Through the SmartThings app, you can choose different functions you would like your tag to complete when you press or hold down the tag button.
