LONDON, UK –12th October 2021 – New research released today by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. has revealed that Brits are feeling much more relaxed about the new world of work and redefining what is now ‘acceptable’ when it comes to working norms – including sending work emails from the school run, using short form and emojis in emails to the boss, or working in pyjamas from the bedroom.

A poll of 1,000 UK office workers has shown how the working world – in particular the office – has changed over the past 18 months, with 65% of people confessing that tech has enabled them to work wonders from anywhere as they adopt a more flexible, and positive attitude to work. Even the locations we’re working from have changed, since it’s now considered okay to work from practically anywhere – including cafes, public transport or even from the garden shed.

And it’s not just about where we work that’s changed, it’s how we talk and interact with each other too. One in two Brits (48%) said that since remote working, their communications with colleagues (and even the boss!) have become more informal, with nearly two thirds (63%) calling time on business jargon.

According to the report, formal language was used “too much” in the workplace – moving towards more informal ‘accessible’ language as hybrid working continues. And when it comes to more visual (mobile-first) forms of communications, nearly half (43%) admitted to using emojis in work emails or messages, with the laughing face, thumbs up, clapping and even eye roll emojis coming out on top – further suggesting the new era of business language.

Technology has been a key factor in business transformation, with devices and solutions to make remote working more manageable– reimagining what it means to work from anywhere, but still keeping workers productive. Nearly two thirds of people (65%) said tech has made them feel ‘more connected’ to their colleagues despite being further apart, regardless of where they work, and a fifth of people (21%) said they couldn’t do their job without it.

What’s most staggering perhaps, is that 65% of people would now not apply for a new job unless the employer offers mobile devices (laptops or work phones) to support work on the move.

Joe Walsh, Director of Business Technology Solutions at Samsung, said: “Businesses of all shapes and sizes fought for survival over the past 18 months when forced to work remotely, with both employers and employees witnessing a radical shift to a mobile workforce. There’s no doubt that technology lies at the heart of this transformation and whilst mobile tools and tech may have been used experimentally during the pandemic, the possibilities are very real now – with many opting for this hybrid style moving forward, having seen the benefits.

Samsung for Business provides technologies, solutions and tools that can help businesses overcome the barriers that limit how productive and profitable they can be, enabling employees to work wonders, literally wherever they are. We want our tech to work harder, so businesses don’t have to, providing built in security and support so it’s one less thing to worry about. We want to give businesses the confidence to go all the way in realising their potential and there’s no better time to do that than now, when the working world is in flux and hybrid working has been supercharged beyond belief.”

Remote working is here to stay, and the research validates that. Two thirds of people (61%) claim to have become more productive and efficient as a result, and over half (52%) of people said having the option to work remotely has also improved their relationships with loved ones. In fact, nearly one fifth of Brits (18%) said they are more likely to extend their holidays and spend more quality time with friends or family, given they can now work remotely from anywhere, removing the need to add on extra holiday to cover travel time.

Joe added: “For years, the perception was that work could only be done from the office or work premises. But with more of us working remotely, more permanently, we’ve shown that technology can revolutionise this old-fashioned view of working.

Many Brits are feeling more relaxed about the new world of work, having adapted well over the past 18 months. And as our research has shown, it has increased productivity and improved relationships, to the extent that very few want to go back to the old ways of full-time office work.”

The survey has been conducted by Samsung for Business to celebrate Work Wonders, a new platform which showcases the vibrancy and variety of modern UK businesses. With the reassurance of Samsung’s end-to-end ecosystem of products, tools and services, Work Wonders is designed to help businesses of all sizes get the confidence they need to take it all the way in this new era of hyper-flexible working and new workplace norms.

Notes to Editors:

Research was carried out by One Poll, on behalf of Samsung. A total of 1,000 UK office workers were surveyed between the 17th-19th September 2021.

London, UK – 6th October 2021: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd has today revealed a bold new brand campaign for its Samsung for Business division, the first since 2017. ‘Work Wonders’ celebrates the multitude of ways that businesses of all shapes and sizes in the UK can achieve remarkable things with the power of technology at the heart – highlighting how the business world is no longer grey and black, but full of vibrancy.

As well as a series of OOH placements which went live on Monday 4th at Old Street roundabout in London, the flagship execution for ‘Work Wonders’, a creative concept conceived by Ogilvy, consists of an innovative partnership with Independent TV that drives awareness of Samsung’s business technologies, as well as the solutions, support and security they provide.

Driven by Starcom as the media agency behind the work, the partnership is made up of a compelling three-part video series that highlights three brilliant UK businesses, focusing on the human element of business technology. This element of the campaign will air on Independent TV – the Independent’s new TV arm – in its first ever brand partnership on 6th October.

The content features award-winning journalist and Independent lifestyle editor Harriet Hall as she speaks to these chosen businesses about how using technology has helped them work smarter and faster. The three spotlighted businesses are: Future Yards, a brand-new live music venue and artist hub in Birkenhead, Dame, the world’s first climate positive period brand and Lucy & Sam, naturally colourful organic baby and toddler clothing.

Commenting on the launch of the new Samsung for Business brand campaign, Sharon Hegarty, Marketing Director at Samsung UK and Ireland, said: “Work Wonders was designed to flip the norms of B2B campaigns on their head – putting dynamic storytelling at the heart of our executions to prove that with the right tools and technologies in place, anything is possible. By harnessing the power and reach of Independent TV, and leveraging our OOH spots, we want to show how despite difficulty that businesses have faced of late, technology can help them accelerate faster – and more confidently – as we return to a new paradigm.”

Eve Bulley, UK & Europe Client lead at Ogilvy said “We have seen a rapid increase in digital transformation over the past 18 months, and businesses are looking for help in navigating this. Work Wonders has been developed to position Samsung as a true partner, helping businesses to go further than before. Through a series of vibrant striking imagery, the Work Wonders concept showcases extraordinary ways which Samsung can help deploy mobile technology to overcome barriers that can often undermine performance. We are excited to see this creative campaign come to life in OOH, Social, and Print.”

Michelle Lira, UK & Europe B2B Lead at Starcom said “The Independent were the perfect match for bringing this campaign to life; they were able to help us communicate the vibrancy of Samsung’s message whilst centering it around the human stories, rather than the specs and data. We wanted to show just how important tech is in helping keep the heart of the business going – by enabling business owners and helping employees connect to customers. We’re so excited to be paving the way with their first ever TV brand partnership.”

Work Wonders kicked off earlier this week, with the OOH campaign going live on Old Street roundabout and a series of fun teasers launching on Independent TV to build up to the first full episode of the media partnership. Over the coming days, Samsung will also be launching online videos across YouTube, which will be supported by advertorials about the products themselves, weaving in featured businesses, and paid media activations in Teads, social media targeting, and in print in ES Magazine.

The multi-touch campaign will run through to December and will be supported by a series of high-profile PR activations and talent partnerships – led by Ketchum – culminating in an event at Samsung’s KX experience store in late November.

London, UK – 9th July, 2020 — Samsung Electronics UK. today announces the latest addition to its collaboration with Cisco, with Webex on Flip. This new development combines Samsung’s innovative interactive digital flipchart technology and Cisco’s advanced meeting solution, to enable more accessible meetings, creative collaboration and seamless working.

With many businesses now operating globally and an increase in people working from home, workplaces are coming under pressure to modernise. The need for collaboration between teams in different locations, as well as external business partners, is becoming even more crucial. As a result, companies are seeking an advanced technology platform which enables them to share information and communicate easily and confidently, while maintaining productivity.

Recognising this need, Samsung has collaborated with Cisco to develop Webex on Flip, an innovative meeting room tool that enables businesses to reshape how they conduct meetings, regardless of their location. The partnership sees the industry expert in visual display technologies and the market-leading video collaboration solution, come together to create innovative meeting room technology which answers the needs of modern businesses.

“As the meeting room of the future becomes a modern reality, Samsung is committed to providing the tools and technology to make collaborative working as easy and effective as possible”, explains Damon Crowhurst, Head of Display for Samsung Electronics (UK) Ltd. “With WebEx on Flip we have successfully combined the intelligence and video capabilities of Cisco’s Webex Room Kit Series and Samsung’s SMART Signage technology to transform modern meeting space into the highly productive environments our customers’ need.”

Creative collaboration

Understanding that creative collaboration and output in meetings is key, Webex on Flip enables real-time, two-way white boarding. This means that meeting participants in different locations can share the same screen and make edits directly. Users can utilise the annotation tool, delete or add content, all at the same time, creating more efficient and productive meetings.

Intuitive and interactive digital flipchart

The Samsung Flip includes several innovative features to make meetings as productive and efficient as possible. Meeting participants can enjoy a simulated pen-to-paper writing experience and change or contribute new content by using the intuitive editing and annotation tools. With Samsung Flip, everyone taking part can be fully engaged with the task at hand ensuring maximum output and time efficiency.

Smooth and seamless video conferencing

Cisco’s Webex Room Kit Mini provides quality video and audio-conferencing features for smooth and interactive meeting experiences. The technology incorporates AI-powered capabilities to provide a more convenient way of communicating, for example automatically positioning the face of meeting participants in the center of the screen. Background noise suppression further ensures a smooth video conference experience with no delay.

Fast and easy connectivity

Webex on Flip allows users to utilise their own laptop or mobile with a wireless connection to easily share content with others. It provides direct access to a web browser meaning that no additional device or document viewer is necessary. Users can connect via HDMI or Wi-Fi and can share content via email, Wi-Fi direct or send to a printer. This ensures intuitive and convenient operation without the need for any hardware or technical difficulties.

The Webex on Flip is available from Ingram Micro.

London, UK – March 19 , 2020 — Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today introduced a new lineup of the Samsung Jet cordless stick vacuum cleaner, along with a compatible Clean Station that can deliver the ultimate end-to-end cleaning solution for the home. The new Samsung Jet has great usability and can generate up to 200W1 suction power. Samsung’s latest cleaning products will be launched in Southeast Asia in March, followed by the U.S., Europe, China, and CIS regions.2

“Our strong commitment to create vacuum cleaners that offer a differentiated cleaning experience to consumers is perfectly represented in the Samsung Jet series,” said Eugene Chung, Vice President of the Global Product Management Group at Digital Appliances Business, Samsung Electronics. “Despite the Samsung Jet’s remarkably powerful suction capabilities, its body has been designed to be lightweight, allowing our customers to enjoy the Jet’s easy-to-use features more comfortably.”

Powerful cleaning solution

The Samsung Jet’s capabilities are made possible by its Digital Inverter Motor and the Jet Cyclone system. The Digital Inverter Motor incorporates an ultrasonic welded cover and diffuser that optimise airflow. It allows Samsung Jet to generate a significant level of suction power. Meanwhile, the Jet Cyclone system features nine separate cyclones, each with 3-way multi-air inlets to minimise loss of suction power while securely trapping fine dust particles that are sucked into the vacuum cleaner.

Users can also enjoy longer cleaning times with the Samsung Jet’s high-capacity battery. The long-lasting battery addresses consumer needs for a reliable vacuum cleaner that can maintain suction for up to one hour3. And since the battery can easily be removed and replaced with a spare, users can clean for up to two hours3 in one session if needed.

The Samsung Jet also comes equipped with a diverse array of highly efficient motorized brushes that provide various cleaning solutions to match different consumer lifestyles, cleaning habits, and floor types.

Hygienic features for healthy habits

Samsung Jet’s best-in-class 5 Layered HEPA Filtration System reflects Samsung’s commitment to ensure the safety and health of its users. Verified and certified by the British Allergy Foundation (BAF), the high-performance filtration system captures dust particles and allergens that normally would escape back into the air through the vacuum exhaust4, providing a cleaner indoor environment.

The Samsung Jet’s Washable Dustbin and One Click Detachable Brush Drum are also key features of hygienic and convenient maintenance as they can be fully washed without hassle. The dustbin can be removed effortlessly, so users can simply tip out the dust and wash all the separate parts for a thorough clean. The internal rotating drum located on the head of the vacuum cleaner is also detachable with just a click, which means it can be washed separately as well.

Clean and convenient disposal solution

The newly unveiled Clean Station is an innovative dust disposal solution that automatically empties out the Samsung Jet’s dustbin to provide users with a simpler way to manage their Samsung Jet. The Clean Station incorporates a highly advanced dust filtration system that directly solves the issue of having dust fly everywhere while disposing collected dust from the vacuum canister.

Users simply need to place the dustbin on top of the Clean Station to automatically empty out its contents. The Clean Station also has an Anti-Dust Emitting Structure that has been verified by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to prevent ultrafine dust from getting released back into the air while the dustbin is being emptied out.

The Clean Station even features Air Pulse Technology, which pulsates the air in the dustbin to shake off trapped dust. The dust is then collected in a micro bag inside the machine, which can easily be replaced every two to three months.

Effortless and convenient design

The Samsung Jet incorporates various features and design aspects that make the cleaning process more convenient. For example, the integrated digital display shows the machine’s status, such as power level and brush type. It also alerts users if there are brush bar problems or blockages. This helps users maintain their vacuum cleaner in optimal conditions.

The Samsung Jet’s 2-in-1 Charging Station can be adjusted to suit any home lifestyle by allowing users to store and charge their vacuum cleaner more conveniently. The charging station can now be wall-mounted, so users who need to save space can take advantage of this option. It can also just be used as a stand-alone charger for more flexible storage.

The Samsung Jet’s lightweight design ensures maximum usability and reduces strain on users’ wrists. The handheld body weighs just 1.66kg for the Jet and 1.48kg for Jet Light.

London, UK – February 25th 2020 – Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., today announced the release of its new Infinite Cooking range. Comprising of an oven, available in two colourways, and a Combi-hob, these new product innovations will be available in kitchen specialists across the UK and feature outstanding cooking technology combined with sleek, high-end design.

The Samsung Infinite Cooking range of appliances reflect the demands of aspirational, millennial consumers who are looking for appliances that offer greater cooking flexibility without compromising on exceptional design. Understanding that the kitchen is the hub of the home, which is used not only for preparing food, but also for relaxing and entertaining, Samsung has developed a premium offering which encapsulates high-design principles and unrivalled functionality. The Infinite Cooking range provides millennials with sophisticated and minimalist appliances that look great in any kitchen, while also providing unparalleled cooking performance.

Designed with vertical lines in mind, the Infinite Cooking oven blends seamlessly with kitchen units to create a premium, high-end look. The minimised, rectangular oven window, for example, is positioned vertically rather than horizontally, to create a harmonious flow with cabinets and other furnishings. This ensures that the oven subtly blends in with its surroundings, while the anti-glare glass also helps it to merge naturally with kitchen furniture. In line with the growing design trend for dark kitchens, the appliance is available in matte, graphite grey and glossy onyx black; colours which create an understated, sophisticated look that is complemented by the minimal user interface. The overall aesthetic is simple and modern, offering users a kitchen that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Featuring Dual Cook Steam technology, the Infinite Cooking range is optimised to provide consumers with an unprecedented amount of cooking flexibility and control. The oven can be split into two separate cooking compartments, letting users cook multiple dishes simultaneously at different cooking modes, temperatures, and time settings. The Infinite Cooking ovens introduce steam cooking capability to the Dual Cook range, offering both Steam Assist and Full Steam options alongside a convection oven, allowing users to enjoy eight different cooking modes with just one appliance, taking convenience to a whole new level.

“Our aim at Samsung is to create highly functional products that offer consumers real, tangible benefits, saving them time and energy. With the Infinite Cooking range, users can enjoy precise cooking control while also benefitting from the many advantages of being able to cook multiple dishes in the same oven. This is particularly convenient if you are cooking for people with different dietary requirements such as vegans and meat eaters, or if you are preparing more than one course at a time for a dinner party. The flexibility of the Infinite Cooking range proves incredibly helpful in a wide array of daily situations. Wi-Fi capabilities and a compatible smartphone app offer even greater ease of use, providing remote oven monitoring and control,” says Nick Bevan Head of Product Management for Digital Appliances.

The Combi-Hob, also featured in the range, similarly blends unrivalled functionality with high end design. With a built-in hob and extractor fan, this two-in-one appliance saves space, while the flush fit and streamlined design not only looks sleek, but also enables easier maintenance. With two dual flex zones, users can enjoy greater convenience heating multiple pans at different temperatures.

LONDON, England – February 14, 2020 –With 2 in 5 people wishing they could test the spark before meeting a potential match, singles are set to embrace a new era of dating at Samsung KX, London’s new home of innovation in the heart of Coal Drops Yard.

A new study commissioned by Samsung KX, has revealed that 40% of Brits restrict themselves to only dating their ‘type on paper’. Yet despite the nation claiming to know what they want, over half (58%) wait up to a month to physically meet their match and 42% admit to these dates lacking a spark.

Even though we reach for the tick list, a third of Brits (33%) deem chemistry as the most important factor when it comes to romantic encounters, with over half the nation (54%) taking less than half an hour to feel it.

As a result, Samsung KX and happn have teamed up to offer those looking for love the ultimate micro-dating destination, enabling guests to physically track connections with no expense spared. The #SamsungKX series will be spread across 5 events where guests can partake in up to 3 15-minute micro-dates in one evening, except there’s a twist… All guests will test who really gets their hearts racing by wearing a Samsung Galaxy Watch to monitor their heartrate through each date.

Kicking off on Thursday 20th February, the experience will also include complimentary drinks and virtual ice breakers on Samsung mobile devices for guests to enjoy.

Marine Ravinet, Head of Trends, happn, comments:

“Here at happn, we want to help people forge long-lasting, deep connections. This starts with understanding that your type on paper isn’t necessarily going to be the one you fall in love with. This forward-thinking way of micro-dating blows romantic types out of the water and we’re excited to partner with Samsung KX to help build better couplings through Samsung technology. After all, meaningful relationships begin with real life meetings.”

Tanya Weller, Director of Samsung Showcase, KX said:

“We’re really excited to be hosting the #SamsungKX Micro-Dating series to help prevent more Brits wasting time and money on bad dates. This idea to literally track real chemistry and connections using our technology reaffirms what Samsung KX is all about, a true home of innovation. It’s experiences like these that really help us connect people and we’re looking forward to bringing more exciting events and workshops to our guests in the very near future.

What’s more, those lucky in love can take advantage of the Connection Corner from Thursday 20th February – Thursday 19th March. Offering an ongoing pop-up of romantic, digital activities, couples visiting Samsung KX will be encouraged to take a micro moment for each other.

Top micro-dating tips from happn:

Tip 1 – Don’t wait too long before going on the first date:

Smartphone apps are great for getting things started but chemistry is the ultimate test, and the sooner you can determine whether those online sparks translate into real-life chemistry, the better. No one wants to come across too keen by suggesting a date as the opener, but once you have established common interests and you think they may take your fancy, take the plunge and suggest a date. We recommend waiting no longer than 1 or 2 weeks before the first micro-date so initial digital sparks don’t fade.

Tip 2 – Use the power of tech:

Using wearable tech such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch is a fun and easy way of keeping an eye on who gives you butterflies and sends your heart racing during romantic encounters.

Tip 3 – Pick a safe yet inspiring space:

First dates are exciting but it’s important to be safe when meeting someone new for the first time. Pick a safe, public space and be sure to let your friends know where you’re going and when you expect to be home. If you are picking the location for your date, plan ahead and choose a location that’s fun and inspires conversation to make an impact in micro-minutes.

Tip 4 – Don’t be afraid to date out of your comfort zone:

If past relationships have not worked out – maybe this is because you always go for who you feel is your ‘perfect type’. Leave your prejudices behind and dare to meet someone different. Pay attention to the chemistry and remember, they say opposites attract for a reason!

Tip 5 – Be respectful if your date is not for you:

Don’t be rude or ghost someone if you are not interested after a date, just because you are talking via technology. It doesn’t cost you anything to say goodbye, to offer a polite message letting someone know you are not interested without leaving them hanging.

LONDON, UK – 20th November 2019 – This autumn marks the 25th anniversary of Samsung’s Global Volunteering Month, an initiative which has seen Samsung employee volunteer over one million hours to projects that help benefit local communities across the world to date.

This year, Samsung in the UK worked with volunteering partner Neighbourly to organise a range of activities throughout October in both Chertsey and London.

As part of Westminster Age UK’s initiative to tackle the growing issue of loneliness amongst older people, Samsung employees spent time with local residents aged over 65, offering guidance and lessons in staying connected through technology, over tea and biscuits.

Samsung employees supported with redecorating and gardening at the Mildmay Community Centre in Islington, a charity which supports the local community by hosting events and projects that range from indoor bowls to Spanish lessons for children.

Other charitable activities closer to Samsung House in Chertsey included the preparation of food parcels at St Saviours Foodbank in Sunbury, gardening and landscaping work at the Swan Sanctuary in Shepperton, as well as fundraising for both Guide Dogs for the Blind and Clivedon House.

The month of activities saw employees giving over 200 hours of their time to the local community and Samsung looks forward to carrying this momentum into 2020.
