SAMSUNG Launches Hospitality TV Buy Back Program To Help
Hotels Adopt Latest Energy-Efficient Technology

Ridgefield Park, NJ – April 9, 2015Samsung Electronics America, Inc. today announced the launch of the Samsung Spring Hospitality TV Buy Back Program. The first program of its kind for Samsung, this gives hotel and hospitality properties a range of incentives and cash back options to upgrade their existing in-room TVs to Samsung’s energy-efficient, best-in-class hospitality TV technology.

The program is designed to remove the barriers that hotels and hospitality properties face in cost-effectively adopting new technologies that drive greater interactivity and enhanced guest experiences. For orders of fifty or more TVs placed for delivery by June 30th, 2015, the Samsung Hospitality TV buy back program will:

  • Coordinate the pick-up and removal of old TV units being replaced, at no additional cost.
  • Properly recycle or reuse all units being replaced, at no additional cost1.
  • Offer direct cash back options based on the size, age and technology of existing Hospiality TV units.

All Samsung Hospitality TVs are compatible with the Samsung LYNK™ Remote Enhanced Active Control for Hospitality (REACH) – a hardware and software solution that effectively manages and maintains room display content, and that includes features such as interactive program guides, in-room messaging and centralized TV control.

“When we look at the environmental and financial impact of the outdated TV technology in many hotels today, we see a significant opportunity to help property managers introduce innovations that will have a positive effect on guest satisfaction and the bottom line,” said Jonas Tanenbaum, vice president of hospitality at Samsung Electronics America. “We want to give hotels and properties the right incentives to help them upgrade inventories with this program, while also improving the environment by reducing waste and increasing energy efficiency.”

Samsung’s state-of-the-art hospitality TVs are LED and EPA Energy Star certified and use significantly less energy compared to older units. With an estimated 35 million lbs.2 of old hotel TV’s scheduled to be recycled or sent to US landfills this year, the Samsung Spring Buy Back Program can help hotel and hospitality property owners reduce energy costs, while refreshing their current guest experience with the latest Samsung hospitality and TV offerings.

“As Wyndham Hotel Group is the world’s largest hotel company, we are always looking to provide our franchise owners with services that drive results for their business, but are also responsible to our communities and world around us,” said Paul Davis, senior vice president, Strategic Sourcing, Wyndham Worldwide. “Through our Corporate Social Responsibility and signature Wyndham Green programs, we maintain an ongoing focus on reducing our carbon footprint in collaboration with our franchisees and partners like Samsung. The TV buy back program is a great reflection of this shared commitment to providing great experiences for guests, real-time cost savings for franchisees, and results for our people, our planet, and our bottom-line.”
