On Monday, June 19, the Boys and Girls Clubs of America <\/a>held their 2017 Northeast Youth of the Year Gala at Cipriani in New York City.\u00a0 The fundraising event celebrated the Youth of the Year finalists and the announcements of the winners who will go on to compete for the BGCA National Youth of the Year award.\u00a0 Samsung was also honored for our continued support of Boys and Girls Clubs of America and Tim Baxter<\/a>, President and CEO of Samsung Electronics America, accepted the award.<\/p>\n

Boys & Girls Clubs of America honors Tim Baxter, President & CEO of Samsung Electronics America, and George Fisher from Verizon.<\/p><\/div>\n

Youth of the Year is the Boys and Girls Clubs of America\u2019s premier recognition program for Club youth. Finalists exemplify the BGCA mission and excel in leadership, service, academic excellence and dedication to living a healthy lifestyle. This comprehensive leadership development program is focused on fostering a new generation of leaders that are productive, caring, responsible citizens.<\/p>\n

With over 550 guests in attendance, finalists for the award shared their motivational life stories, many of whom displayed triumph, academic success and community leadership in the face of tremendous challenges. Club Alum and American Ballet Theatre principal dancer, Misty Copeland, was also honored as a celebrity ambassador for the Youth of the Year program.<\/p>\n

Carlos P., from the Boys & Girls Club of Clifton, was named 2017-18 Northeast Youth of the Year, as well as Wynona J. from USAG Fort Meade CYS Services, who was named the 2017-18 Northeast Military Youth of the Year. The evening was a precursor for the National Youth of the Year Gala, held in September in Washington, D.C., where both will contend with other regional winners to be chosen as an ambassador for the organization.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
