At Samsung, gratitude and generosity<\/span> color what employees and the company as a whole do all year long. Launching its holiday giving campaign, Samsung Electronics America celebrated Giving Tuesday on November 28, a global day of giving back that unites businesses, charities, community centers and people around the world for one common purpose \u2013 to give.<\/p>\n

Samsung made giving simple by encouraging employees to get involved in company-supported initiatives that help the causes that matter most to them. Employees made donations through Samsung Gives, the company\u2019s charitable giving-match program that allows employees to magnify their gifts with a dollar-for-dollar employer match.<\/p>\n

And it didn\u2019t end there.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamsung does a great job of raising awareness of the need for volunteering. It was eye-opening. I want to contribute to our local community in any way I can.\u201d<\/em><\/span><\/h4>\n

Five lucky employees who made a charitable contribution through Samsung Gives won a $500 corporate donation to the non-profit organization of their choice. Selected at random, the winners were thrilled to know their favorite charity would receive Samsung\u2019s special contribution during this critical time of the year.<\/p>\n

Stefanie Rutigliano, a finance manager, was one of the raffle winners. Her chosen charity, Cooley\u2019s Anemia Foundation, is especially close to her heart because the genetic blood disorder runs in her family.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis foundation is very meaningful to us. I\u2019m extremely grateful that Samsung was able to do this,\u201d Rutigliano said.<\/strong> Her cousin, diagnosed with the condition as a baby, receives blood transfusions every two weeks as part of her treatment. Currently, there\u2019s no cure for Cooley\u2019s anemia, but Rutigliano and her family work tirelessly to raise money for medical research.<\/p>\n

\u201cSamsung does a great job of raising awareness of the need for volunteering, too,\u201d Rutigliano said.<\/strong> This year, she spent her Volunteer Time Off (VTO) hours at a Bergen County food bank in New Jersey. \u201cIt was eye-opening. I want to contribute to our local community in any way I can.\u201d<\/p>\n

Samsung Electronics America employees beautify and maintain Therapeutic Healing Garden for Children\u2019s Aid & Family Services in Ridgewood, NJ.<\/p><\/div>\n

Throughout the year, Samsung employees are encouraged to take advantage of the company\u2019s VTO hours, a company-wide signature program that empowers employees to leave the office behind and donate their time and labor to an organization of their choice in need of help.<\/p>\n

Many Samsung employees will give back by contributing to local food, clothing and toy drives. For example, the company\u2019s major office locations in Ridgefield Park, NJ, New York, NY, Richardson, TX., and Mountain View, CA will all proudly support Toys for Tots, in addition to locally based charities, to help make the season brighter for those in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very proud of Samsung\u2019s commitment to giving back to the communities where we live and work,\u201d said Tim Baxter, president and CEO of Samsung Electronics North America.<\/strong> \u201cThis holiday giving season, the company is keeping the momentum going by helping families in local communities when they need it the most.\u201d<\/p>\n
