It was a different kind of press conference for Samsung at CES<\/a>, today in Las Vegas, where Tim Baxter, president & CEO of Samsung Electronics North America, outlined the company\u2019s vision and strategy for making Internet of Things (IoT) experiences more accessible to all consumers and simplifying everyday life through Samsung connected devices whether at home, at the office or on-the-go. Read on for the highlights.<\/p>\n

One App to Connect All Devices<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This spring, Samsung will launch its SmartThings app to connect and control any SmartThings-enabled device directly from your phone, TV, or car with a single application. For example, with the FamilyHub Refrigerator, consumers can use Bixby voice control to receive daily schedule reminders, play their favorite music, even get recipes for making a meal with the ingredients on hand or use the mirror feature to continue watching what\u2019s on the SmartTV in the living room while you go to the kitchen to make a snack.<\/p>\n

The Connected Car Experience<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

With Harman International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung, the two companies unveiled connected car solutions that connect people\u2019s lives while on the go. The digital cockpit platform weaves together a driver\u2019s entire connected lifestyle across IoT. Through a multi-display layout that leverages HARMAN\u2019s Ignite Platform, the in-car user experience can be personalized for the driver and passenger via services such as virtual personal assistants, portable profiles, augmented reality and more. Integration with SmartThings lets consumers control connected devices in the home, like thermostats, smart speakers, and the Family Hub. With Bixby, consumers can personalize their vehicle experience to automatically adjust vehicle settings to fit the driver. Bixby will also be able to complete tasks and control SmartThings devices through voice, touch, gesture and context-based triggers while in the car.<\/p>\n

Samsung Flip: A Digital Whiteboard on Wheels<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

This uber upgrade to the traditional whiteboard is a fully-integrated and interactive digital flip chart display that lets you connect your PC and phone to easily share and mark-up content together as a team. It\u2019s portability transforms any location into a huddle room, simplifies office collaboration by enabling multiple users to create content at the same time and maintains the familiar feel of traditional writing. Up to four different participants can introduce content or annotate directly on screen at the same time using either their fingers or a dual-sided pen. An integrated screen-sharing functionality makes Flip content available on connected PCs, smartphones and tablets without interruption or reduced visual quality.<\/p>\n

The Wall: You\u2019ve Got to See it to Believe It<\/strong><\/span><\/h4>\n

Finally, in true Samsung form, the company unveiled the world\u2019s largest TV \u2013 a 146-inch modular MicroLED, also known as \u201cThe Wall.\u201d By incorporating innovative self-emitting MicroLED display technology, The Wall negates the need for color filters, and allows the screen to deliver outstanding levels of brightness, color gamut, color volume and black levels so users can enjoy an exceptional viewing experience. Equipped with a module-based and bezel-less design, \u201cThe Wall\u201d exemplifies how consumers can easily customize their television size to match their needs.<\/p>\n
