As the world honored<\/span> the history and contributions of women on March 8, Samsung aimed to inspire new generations of powerful women with a panel discussion focused on empowerment and featuring some of-the-moment female entrepreneur-influencers.<\/p>\n

Hosted at Samsung 837, the gathering on stage included Christine Chang, Co-Founder and CEO of Glow Recipe, Rachel Shechtman, Founder and CEO of STORY, Rachel Hodes, Communications\u00a0Manager at Bulletin, Sharlee Jeter, President of the Turn 2 Foundation and Karleen Roy, Founder of The Vanity Group.<\/p>\n

Despite all of them boasting varied career paths and experience, what tied them all together, according to moderator Alicia Quarles, a DailyMailTV contributor and former E! News correspondent is their corporate citizenship.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe through thread is that they all give back \u2013 each has a charitable component to their businesses,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Quarles led the discussion through topics that ranged from the personal to the political, from the path ahead to obstacles faced down in the past. She asked panelists for their views on transforming the current women\u2019s empowerment moment of #MeToo and #TimesUp into a movement with longevity and results.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt starts in your community,\u201d said panelist Karleen Roy, founder of The Vanity Group, a luxury lifestyle management agency. \u201cChampion the people in your life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roy is an avid youth mentor and she urged the audience to \u201cbe that older sister\u201d and support the youth who one day may change the world. \u201cYou never know who you\u2019ll inspire.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharlee Jeter, president of Turn 2 Foundation, which supports at-risk youth, said achieving success is just step one. \u201cThen when you get there, help other women,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Rachel Shechtman, founder and CEO of STORY, a retail concept store with the unconventional business model of flipping its inventory and bent every eight weeks, said sometimes simply standing up to condescending behavior \u2013 or to abuses of power in business \u2013 can be revolutionary.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not easy, especially when someone\u2019s writing you a check, but speaking up and being true to yourself, however uncomfortable it may be, holds people accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quarles saluted Samsung for recognizing women\u2019s buying power and for offering technology that can empower everyone to tell their own stories.<\/p>\n

Quarles said she\u2019s glad to have opportunities to raise women\u2019s standing, and she doesn\u2019t squander them.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you have a platform, you better use it \u2013 and put a megaphone to it,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s important to me to be a voice for the voiceless.\u201d<\/p>\n
