About half of our U.S. employees call it home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Texas Lyceum group was visiting New York City for its annual leadership conference. This year\u2019s gathering was entitled \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.texaslyceum.org\/event-2616759\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">A Global Perspective: The U.S. Role on the World Stage<\/a>\u201d and provided attendees broad exposure to New York City\u2019s business landscape, including two panel sessions hosted at Samsung 837, the <a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-837-2nd-anniversary-marks-rise-retailtainment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">company\u2019s immersive technology playground<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis and the International Monetary Fund, Texas represents the world\u2019s 10th biggest economy and is home to <a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-austin-semiconductor-sas-continues-central-texas-growth-with-more-than-1-billion-in-investment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Samsung Austin Semiconductor<\/a>, where many of the chips that power Samsung devices are made.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung opened its Austin semiconductor factory in 1996 and rapidly expanded its operations, accounting for the largest foreign investment in Texan history. In 2016, Samsung announced an additional $1 billion investment in the operation, bringing the total to over $16 billion since 1997.<\/p>\n<p>Baxter emphasized the company\u2019s commitment to Texas goes well beyond financial benefits. \u201cAt Samsung we believe that success goes hand-in-hand with being a good corporate citizen, especially in the places our employees live and work,\u201d <strong>said Baxter<\/strong>.
