DisplayMate Technologies<\/strong> has completed its comprehensive evaluation of the Galaxy Note9\u2019s Infinity Display<\/a>, and the results are clear: \u201cThe level of display performance and excellence has been increasing each year, and the Galaxy Note9 has raised the bar significantly higher.\u201d Displaymate is an independent assessment body that uses a variety of proprietary, objective testing procedures to measure the quality of displays.<\/p>\n

According to the world\u2019s leading evaluator of video screens, the Galaxy Note9 features \u201cthe most innovative and high-performance smartphone display that we have ever lab tested.\u201d The smartphone established several display performance records during DisplayMate\u2019s in-depth analysis, ultimately earning the firm\u2019s highest-ever A+ grade.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy Note9\u2019s 6.4-inch, 3K (2960×1440) Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display matched or set records for a number of important measurements, and each of the Galaxy Note9\u2019s screen modes demonstrated record-setting absolute color accuracy, which is measured in units of Just Noticeable Color Differences, or JNCD, calculated using the 1976 CIE Uniform Chromaticity color space.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\u201cFor the Galaxy Note9,\u201d the review stated, \u201cSamsung has concentrated on significantly raising the on-screen Absolute Picture Quality and Absolute Color Accuracy of the OLED display by implementing Precision Factory Display Calibration, moving the overall Galaxy Note9 display performance up to Record Setting Outstanding levels, and setting many new Display Performance Records, including Absolute Color Accuracy at a very impressive 0.5 JNCD that is Visually Indistinguishable From Perfect, and almost certainly considerably better than your existing Smartphone, 4K UHD TV, Tablet, Laptop and computer monitor.\u201d Displaymate measures color accuracy and quality by measuring a display\u2019s performance against 21 reference colors.<\/p>\n

The smartphone\u2019s enhanced High Brightness Mode produces vibrant visuals when users need them, such as when they\u2019re under direct sunlight or in environments with lots of ambient light. DisplayMate\u2019s evaluators tested the feature by displaying an all-white full screen, which is the most challenging image for an OLED display to produce, as it requires all the pixels to shine at full power.<\/p>\n

The Galaxy Note9 set a new record for this brightness measurement. The review stated that the Note9 is \u201cup to 27% Brighter and 32% Higher Contrast than the Galaxy Note8 in High Ambient Light.\u201d<\/p>\n\n

In addition to featuring enhanced brightness and accuracy, the Galaxy Note9\u2019s display offers improved power efficiency. DisplayMate\u2019s evaluation also included a measurement of the display\u2019s average power consumption when portraying a wide range of content. The Galaxy Note9 consumed just 1.10 watts of power, which makes it 8 percent more power efficient than the Galaxy Note8.<\/p>\n
