America’s first manufacturing-focused 5G testbed will be located at Samsung Austin Semiconductor, featuring AT&T\u2019s 5G wireless technology with Samsung\u2019s 5G network equipment.<\/p><\/div>\n

DALLAS, Sept. 26, 2018, \u2014<\/span> AT&T<\/a>* is working with Samsung Electronics America, Inc.<\/strong> (SEA) and Samsung Austin Semiconductor, LLC<\/strong>, (SAS) to create America\u2019s first manufacturing-focused 5G \u201cInnovation Zone\u201d in Austin, Texas. The goal of the testbed will be to provide a real-world understanding of how 5G can impact manufacturing and provide insight into the future of a Smart Factory.<\/p>\n

The Innovation Zone will sit within Samsung Austin Semiconductor, one of the world\u2019s most advanced semiconductor fabrication facilities. It will feature AT&T\u2019s 5G wireless technology with Samsung\u2019s 5G network equipment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a first. We\u2019ll be testing the real-world impact 5G will have on the manufacturing industry,\u201d said Mo Katibeh, chief marketing officer, AT&T Business.<\/strong> \u201cUltimately, we plan to use what we learn from this 5G Innovation Zone to help create better technology experiences and improvements in Samsung Austin Semiconductor\u2019s plant along with creating a future blueprint for people and businesses across all industries.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAs we evolve into a Smart Factory, Samsung Austin Semiconductor is continuously focused on leveraging data and automation to increase system performance,\u201d said Dr. Sang-Pil Sim, president, Samsung Austin Semiconductor.<\/strong> \u201cThis collaboration with Samsung Electronics America and AT&T will help us test how a 5G network can improve mobility, performance and efficiencies within our plant.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t
