NEW YORK, NY\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span>\u00a0Jun. 17, 2015\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Quality Services for the Autism Community (QSAC), a<\/span>New York-based charity supporting children and adults with autism, honored Samsung with its\u00a0<\/span>2015 Innovation in Accessibility Award for their commitment to ensuring that their products are\u00a0<\/span>accessible for individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.<\/span><\/p>\n

Each year, QSAC\u2019s\u00a0<\/span>Innovation in Accessibility Award recognizes a company that has worked to\u00a0<\/span>ensure its products are disability-friendly. This year, QSAC recognized Samsung for the\u00a0<\/span>accessibility features of its Galaxy S6, Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Tab devices. The devices are\u00a0<\/span>neurodiversity-friendly and include accessibility features for individuals with impaired dexterity\u00a0<\/span>and speech, enabling them to be used as augmentative communication and learning devices for\u00a0<\/span>individuals with autism.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to their strong commitment to accessibility, Samsung has also made giving back to\u00a0<\/span>the community a hallmark of their corporate social responsibility efforts. On Thursday, June 11,<\/span>2015, Samsung employees\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span>\u00a0including CEO and President of Samsung Electronics North\u00a0<\/span>America Gregory Lee\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span>\u00a0visited the QSAC Preschool in Queens where they volunteered for the\u00a0<\/span>day. Hosted as a part of Samsu<\/span>ng\u2019s \u201c<\/span>Day of Service<\/span>\u201d program, employees spent the day\u00a0<\/span>gardening, designing bulletin boards, and working on art projects with QSAC\u2019s students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Accepting the award on behalf of Samsung at the Tuesday night gala was Giovanni De<\/span>Choudens, Vice President\/General Manager of Carrier Sales for Samsung Electronics America.<\/span>Past recipients of awards from QSAC have included Sprint, PIMCO, Pfizer, and Duncan\u00a0<\/span>Niederauer of NYSE Euronext. Each year, QSAC\u2019s gala brings together more than 500 people to\u00a0<\/span>increase autism awareness while raising funds to support QSAC\u2019s programs and services for the\u00a0<\/span>autism community of New York and Long Island.<\/span><\/div>\n
