Every October, during Samsung\u2019s Global Month of Giving, Samsung Electronics America closes its offices for a day to give back to the communities in which we live and work. Last week, on our 9th<\/sup> Day of Service<\/a>, we branched out coast to coast to help our charity partners make even more of an impact with the work they do every day.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a look at how some of our employees made a positive impact across the U.S.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

After receiving training on the organization\u2019s techniques and games used to build students\u2019 conflict resolution, social and leadership skills, employees joined Playworks<\/a> on the playground at a Newark, NJ elementary school. Playworks\u2019s mission is to create a place for every kid on the playground to feel included, be active and grow physically, emotionally and socially.<\/p>\n

In Plano, TX, at Junior Achievement BizTown<\/a>, Samsung employees helped students connect the dots between what they learn in school and real-world business situations, helping them to become familiar with basic business and economic concepts.<\/p>\n

\"\" \"\" \"\"<\/p>\n

Junior Achievement also came to Samsung Electronics America offices in Ridgefield Park, NJ, where aspiring entrepreneurs from Parsippany Hills High School collaborated with Samsung employees to innovate new product ideas during a real-world, start-up business modeling activity.<\/p>\n

At City Green<\/a> Urban Farm and Children\u2019s Garden in Paterson, NJ, employees helped beautify the learning garden that serves to educate children about where food comes from, making healthy food choices and caring for the local ecosystem. The organization also offers teens paid summer employment opportunities through their \u201cGrowing Strong\u201d program.<\/p>\n

With America SCORES<\/a> in New York City, Samsung employees helped elementary school students on and off the soccer field, handing out snacks and water and acting as referees. America SCORES engages youth in under-resourced communities in soccer teams to give kids the opportunity to develop core values of teamwork, leadership, commitment and sportsmanship.<\/p>\n

Back in Newark, NJ, Samsung employees helped Covenant House New Jersey<\/a> youth at The Dove Learning Center to create a weekly grocery list and meal plan for an individual or family while staying within a specified budget, focusing on how to balance saving money with spending money depending on wants and needs. Since 1989, Covenant House New Jersey has been providing food, shelter, immediate crisis care, and an array of other important services to homeless, runaway and trafficked youth between the ages of 18-21.<\/p>\n

Samsung Electronics America employees engaged with youth at Madison Square Boys & Girls Club, Pinkerton Clubhouse, in the Harlem neighborhood of New York City. They participated in fitness activities and worked with students in the Clubhouse Technology Center. They also played an interactive game of Jenga with teen members and talked with them about their college and career paths.<\/p>\n

At Samsung, our Global Corporate Citizenship vision is enabling people. By providing education for future generations, we empower tomorrow\u2019s innovators to achieve their full potential and become the next generation of leaders to pioneer positive social change.<\/p>\n

Over the past 9 years, Samsung employees in the U.S. have collectively contributed over 144,000 hours of community service to organizations nationwide during the annual Day of Service event.<\/p>\n
