The virtual seven-month educational program was designed to offer Millennial and Gen Z women the opportunity to gain practical education in emerging technologies and enhance their employment prospects. And the 2023 cohort recently concluded their <a href=\"https:\/\/news.samsung.com\/us\/samsung-innovation-campus-ai-course-empowers-communities-education\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Artificial Intelligence Course<\/strong><\/a>, which is rooted in problem-based learning (PBL).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-58734\" src=\"https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/01144950\/Natia-Lollie-2.png\" alt=\"sic-student-spotlight-natia-lollie-quote-card\" width=\"1000\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/01144950\/Natia-Lollie-2.png 1000w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/01144950\/Natia-Lollie-2-600x360.png 600w, https:\/\/img.us.news.samsung.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/05\/01144950\/Natia-Lollie-2-950x570.png 950w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>While a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pwc.com\/gx\/en\/issues\/data-and-analytics\/publications\/artificial-intelligence-study.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">PwC study<\/a> estimates that artificial intelligence (AI) has a $15.7 trillion potential contribution to the global economy by 2030, there\u2019s a significant challenge related to the diversity of those programming the technology itself. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.weforum.org\/agenda\/2022\/08\/why-we-must-act-now-to-close-the-gender-gap-in-ai\/#:~:text=The%20tech%20workforce%20continues%20to,22%25%20of%20AI%20professionals%20globally.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The World Economic Forum<\/a> notes that about 78% of global AI professionals are male. With heightened attention on and the accelerated pace of investments in AI, the gender gap in this space has the potential to create a vastly inequitable future \u2014 economically and for our industry. The lack of diversity in the technology industry has been a long-standing issue and Samsung\u2019s initiative to bring about inclusivity and diversity in the space is a significant step in the right direction. Encouraging women to participate and find their place in the development and governance of the AI and machine learning (ML) industry will not only ensure diverse perspectives and reduce bias, but also promote representation by assuring that all voices are heard.<\/p>\n<p>Ultimately, my goal is to leverage the knowledge that I&#8217;m gaining from the Samsung Innovation Campus program as a springboard to launch a career in AI and Robotics, specifically Computer Vision.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Underscoring our commitment to educating and empowering the next generation of diverse innovators, Samsung Electronics America launched its second annual Samsung Innovation Campus in the U.S. in November 2023.
