Samsung has been named the 2025 MyBroadband TV Brand of the Year, a prestigious accolade that recognises the company’s continued leadership and innovation in the television industry.

Presented annually, the MyBroadband Award for TV Brand of the Year honours brands that consistently deliver outstanding products, cutting-edge technology, and exceptional user experiences to South African consumers. Samsung was chosen based on its strong brand reputation, industry-wide innovation, and deep commitment to the local market.

“We are honoured and proud to be recognised as South Africa’s leading TV brand,” said Mike van Lier, Vice President for Consumer Electronics at Samsung Electronics South Africa. “This award reflects our ongoing investment in breakthrough technologies and our dedication to offering our consumers the very best in home entertainment.”

Samsung has long set the standard for what televisions can achieve. The company’s pioneering work in quantum dot technology began in 2001 and led to the creation of the world’s first cadmium-free quantum dot material in 2014. This innovation laid the foundation for Samsung’s highly acclaimed SUHD and QLED TV ranges.

With more than 150 patents in quantum dot technology, Samsung continues to redefine picture quality and performance with each generation of products. Its current line-up, which includes the Neo QLED and OLED ranges, showcases the brand’s commitment to delivering superior brightness, colour precision, and refresh rates for all types of viewing needs.

As a leading brand in South Africa, Samsung continues to deliver TVs that resonate with local audiences, whether for sport, cinema, or gaming. A strong commitment to local customer service and support matches the company’s sustained investment in innovation and product excellence.

“At its core, our business is driven by the consumer. This is why we will continue to push the boundaries of what’s possible in home entertainment. We are particularly excited about the future, especially after this accolade and being named South Africa’s preferred TV brand,” added van Lier.

The enticing smell of gourmet food from the numerous food trucks dotted around the property gave the Samsung Family Festival a truly festive air. Both acts put on an energetic show, encouraging a few impromptu dance moves from festival-goers.

South Africa’s youth has again endorsed Samsung as their brand of choice across the Smartphone, Tablet Devices and Cellular Phone categories, as well as the Platinum Icon Brand of Tomorrow in the Smartphone category. The announcement was made as a finding of the Ask Afrika Icon Brands Survey for 2017/18, whose top honours were awarded to brands that outperformed thousands of other brands across 19 sectors, at the annual awards ceremony on the 14th of August 2017.

The largest of its kind in South Africa, the survey is created by the Target Group Index (TGI) in partnership with City Press and Rapport newspapers. This year, it incorporated 15,284 South African interviews to represent over 25 million adult South African consumers and was conducted by Ask Afrika, which is South Africa’s largest independent market research company.

Consumers are asked to vote for the brands that they feel best unite them and form part of the nation’s common experiences. While the survey itself pays close attention to brand loyalty amidst consumer trends, the awards celebrate thought-leader brands that form part of South Africans socially constructed realities, especially within the 15 – 34 age group.

“Thank you to the South African youth market which has voted to reaffirm that Samsung’s creative technological innovations are born out of a deep understanding of what our consumers want and need and that our products indeed enrich our customers’ lives and contribute to social prosperity. We are honoured to have our future leaders recognise us as an iconic global electronics brand that has formed meaningful connections with them,” says Justin Hume, Chief Marketing Officer at Samsung Electronics South Africa.

Samsung has a proud history of excellence when it comes to these awards. Last year, the brand won the New Technology/Tablets category and Smartphones category. It also scooped up the gold as the top tablet brand in the Ask Afrika Icon Brands Awards 2015 amongst other esteemed positions.

“Samsung will continue to provide leading solutions to a market of digitally savvy young consumers who know what they want and are highly in tune with the latest technological advancements across the global community,” concludes Hume.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. was recently recognised as the most creative marketer of 2016 by the Cannes LIONS International Festival of Creativity,

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. was recently recognised as the most creative marketer of 2016 by the Cannes LIONS International Festival of Creativity, the largest gathering of worldwide creative communications professionals and advertisers. The “Creative Marketer of the Year” award is awarded to companies that have made creative and meaningful strides in marketing.

Terry Savage, Chairman of Lions Festivals, said, “When you look at Samsung’s wins at Cannes Lions, even just last year, what strikes you is the diversity of Lions that they are taking home through their overarching commitment to creativity. They’re excelling across the board, including in areas such as healthcare communications, craft and branded content, as well as picking up a Titanium Lion,”

Samsung has steadily refined its marketing approach to a more consumer-centric strategy, which focuses on how its products and technologies can create meaning in the lives of consumers. This has been evident in Samsung’s campaigns in 2015 which include: ‘Look at Me’ for autistic children, ‘Safety Truck’ for road safety, ‘Every Day is Day One’ for athletes and ‘Centre Stage’ for an enhanced consumer retail experience. To earn these prestigious honours, Samsung collabourated with world-class creative agencies including Cheil Worldwide, Leo Burnett and 72&Sunny.

“We believe that innovation should go beyond creating cutting edge technology and that it should also create opportunities for people to reach higher and dream bigger,” said Michelle Potgieter, Director of Corporate Marketing and Communications at Samsung SA.

The 63rd International Festival of Creativity is where the world’s companies come together to challenge their creativity in advertising, publicity and marketing campaigns in many different categories. Hosted annually in Cannes, France, this year’s events will be held from the 18th to the 25th of June and will be attended by more than 15,000 delegates from over 95 countries.

“Samsung is honoured to be recognised as a game changer in the industry once again. This award is a true reflection of our aim to revolutionise the way in which modern society perceives marketing. Enriching people’s lives is at the centre of everything we do and our marketing reflects this philosophy,” concludes Potgieter.
