The enticing smell of gourmet food from the numerous food trucks dotted around the property gave the Samsung Family Festival a truly festive air. Of course, the colourful balloon displays and the numerous dessert food trucks – from ice-cream Sundae’s to gourmet smoothies – certainly added to the celebratory feel. A festival simply wouldn’t be a festival without live music and fans of Black Motion and Locnville weren’t disappointed. Both acts put on an energetic show, encouraging a few impromptu dance moves from festival-goers.

Black Motion, the pair of gifted young lads from Pretoria that look set to shake up the global house scene with their post-modern Afrocentric style and signature sound.

Locnville: Sometimes abridged as LCNVL is a South African electro hop music duo. Identical twin brothers Andrew and Brian Chaplin formed Locnville. The twins are singer-songwriters, song producers and musicians.

There was a lot to celebrate, too. Mr Yoon handed out a total of 48 Long Service Awards, for 5 and 10 years of loyal service to Samsung. Several departments received the ‘One Team Award’, for excellence and great service. Congratulations to the teams from Marketing Finance, Marketing Africa PR, Mobile IM PM & Technical PM, Legal Contracts Team, CE Makro, Finance BQMS Team, HR Compensation and Benefits, SCSI Team, Business Operations and Innovation SAP and SCA Accounts Receivable.

While Samsung staff celebrated with their teams, children were treated to a fun-filled play tent, filled with games and craft activities. With live music, food trucks and numerous playful options to suit anyone’s taste. The Samsung Family Festival truly was a great day out.
