From dynamic camera and photo editing features to a Grammarly-powered keyboard, the latest update will give you the tools to express yourself in your own way.

Samsung is committed to delivering the most up-to-date mobile experience to as many Galaxy users as possible. That’s why Samsung announced that One UI 4.1, which first debuted alongside the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, will be available on a wide range of Galaxy devices, bringing the latest Galaxy innovations to more users.

Starting with the Galaxy Z Fold3 and Galaxy Z Flip3, the software update will include the Galaxy S21 series,1 Galaxy A series and Tab S7 FE. The update will extend to even more Galaxy devices, including the S20 series,2 Z Fold,3 Z Flip,4 Note series,5 S10 series,6 A series and Tab S series.

Read on to learn more about One UI 4.1 and some of the new features Galaxy users can enjoy.

Collaborate and Connect from Anywhere with Google Duo Live Sharing

No matter where you are in the world, you can stay connected with the Google Duo7 app on your Galaxy device. With Google Duo live sharing feature, you can share your screen with friends to view photos in Gallery together and relive your cherished memories, even when you’re far apart.8 You can also share your browser screen and collaborate on Samsung Notes while you’re on a video call — great for planning a trip with your friends or for taking productive notes during that important meeting.9

Reclaim Control of Your Images with Object Eraser

Sometimes, a great photo can be ruined by background objects, people, shadows or reflections, but you might not realise until after the picture is taken. With the more enhanced Object eraser, you can now easily remove not only distracting objects in the background, but also shadows thrown on the subject or even reflections on the windows. Simply tap the ‘Erase shadows’ or ‘Erase reflections’ button when you want to remove them from a photo, and Object eraser will handle the rest.11

Streamline Your Photo Sharing

We know Galaxy users love to share their content as much as they love to create it. That’s why the latest update brings users a more simplified and streamlined photo sharing experience. By automatically optimising your photos — whether it’s cropping out unwanted sections of screenshots or automatically adjusting the tilt — you can ensure that whatever you send is exactly what you intended. Simply select an image to share and an icon will alert you if your device detects potential improvements. Click on the icon and watch as the image is automatically adjusted, rotated or cropped before it’s shared.

As part of the update, users can also enjoy Quick Share, a feature that allows you to instantly send multiple photos, videos and files at once. Just click the ‘Share’ button and select the desired recipient to transfer anything with ease.

Write Confidently with a Grammarly-Powered Keyboard

Whether you’re chatting with friends or typing up an important email, every word counts. That’s why Samsung teamed up with Grammarly to create a smarter keyboard that goes beyond simply picking up typos. With Grammarly seamlessly integrated into Samsung Keyboard, you’ll automatically receive expert writing improvements as you type to ensure you feel confident every time you press send. You will also have the opportunity to get more advanced suggestions — such as ideas to improve sentence clarity, find compelling synonyms, write with fluency and more — to take your writing to the next level.12

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 09 June 2021 – The recent GLAMOUR South Africa June cover is a testament to the rapid evolution of smartphone technology. A first for the publication saw inimitable photographer Austin Malema swap his traditional DSLR camera for Samsung’s internationally acclaimed Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G device, to capture the stunning Miss South Africa, Shudufhadzo Musida cover shoot in the latest edition of the popular magazine’s cover and fashion pages.

The cover of every GLAMOUR magazine is the culmination of a carefully considered vision. This is where stars shine in pictures expertly curated by the best photographers under the eagle-eyed direction of visionary editors. In the June issue, Miss South Africa dazzles on the cover. A fascinating component amongst this stellar cast of professionals is that a smartphone was used to shoot the covers. Less surprising is the choice: the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G. Samsung’s greatest Galaxy yet again took centre stage at the locations, armed with its array of ground-breaking camera technology.

Nontando Mposo editor-in-chief of South Africa’s leading fashion and beauty magazine, GLAMOUR says, “Yes we are a lifestyle, fashion and beauty publication, but we are also looking at disruptive innovations that are shaping the future. That’s why this collaboration with Samsung was a no-brainer for me”.

Beyond the dimensions of this special project with Samsung, the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G garnered a lot of praise from the Conde Nast team for the fastest processer in a Galaxy device, massive battery and the smartest and brightest screen in a Galaxy ever. On the shoot days, cover photographer Austin Malema used the combination of these incredible features, along with the acclaimed state-of-the-art prograde camera features to great effect.

The famed photographer was tasked to explore the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G’s range of camera technologies, that have attracted massive attention around the globe. Malema said, “I accepted the challenge as it tested my ability to embrace new technology in a meaningful way. As someone who usually relies on traditional DSLR camera features, I considered the impact on my normal creative process and approach. I however soon realised that the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G would be more than capable of producing images that effortlessly measured up to DSLR quality.”

Austin was impressed by the powerful quad-camera the Galaxy S21 5G Ultra features including a 108MP wide, 12MP ultra-wide, two 10MP zoom lenses, and a 40MP front camera. Malema continued, “Another big plus for me with shooting with the Galaxy S21 Ultra was that it is capable of shooting raw images and I knew that would be a big help. The Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G is armed with raw shooting skills with support for 12-bit raw files”. Pro photographers, who want the utmost control and quality from their images to capture a more dynamic range, meaning more detail in the highlights and shadows, normally use these files.

For Nontando, it was the Single-Take feature that captured her heart. Here’s why: “As an editor, I am always looking for the best angle and filter. Now I can have it all with one tap. It’s a feature that allows you to capture a variety of stunning stills and highlight reels. What’s not to love”.

The combination of star power with creative minds and a smartphone that acts like it’s a photographer’s assistant are what have made the GLAMOUR feature so epic. So make sure you look out for GLAMOUR’s June Issue and see the Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G in action.
