DST Takes a Toll on Sleep, With Younger Generations Most Disrupted

When looking into how much of an impact DST has on people the morning after, one thing is clear, everyone’s sleep patterns are thrown off. In fact, people spent a little too much time counting sheep the night of the time change, falling asleep 33 minutes later than the previous night, waking up 19 minutes earlier. While losing sleep isn’t easy at any age, those in their 20s likely felt it the most thanks to an extremely late bedtime and a seeming inability to sleep in.

Moreover, Sleep Score – calculated based on an evaluation of a users’ total sleep time, awake time, sleep cycle, plus physical and mental recovery – was at the worst level for weeks after DST – and again, people in their 20s appeared to be most affected. The IHRN feature is designed to detect irregular heart rhythms suggestive of atrial fibrillation (AFib), a condition that can lead to severe health complications if left undiagnosed. By continuously monitoring and recording heart rhythms, this feature offers users a better understanding of their heart health. Alongside the IHRN, the Samsung Health Monitor app also allows Galaxy Watch users to monitor their blood pressure and perform on-demand electrocardiogram (ECG) tests, giving a comprehensive view of their cardiovascular health from the convenience of their wrist.

Following its approval by the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in 2023, the IHRN feature has already been rolled out in various global markets. South Africa is one of the latest regions to benefit from this advancement.

In addition to the IHRN feature, the new Sleep Apnea detection tool offers users the ability to identify early signs of obstructive sleep apnea, a common but serious sleep disorder that often goes undiagnosed. According to the South African Society for Sleep and Health, 26% of adults in South Africa are affected by sleep apnea, a condition that can lead to severe health risks such as high blood pressure, heart disease, and stroke.

Both features, integrated into the Samsung Health Monitor app, further enhance Galaxy Watch’s ability to support users in managing their overall health. Explore Dynamic Ways To Experience Galaxy AI on Samsung Foldables

Samsung returned to Sandton City this past weekend to give consumers an immersive experiential space that allows them to explore dynamic the Galaxy AI experience more powerfully on foldables. From 26 July to 18 August 2024, the Samsung Galaxy Studio will be a hive of activity, giving Jobugers a chance to experience the most advanced Samsung Galaxy devices.

Upon entering the AI-inspired space, visitors get immersed in Samsung’s latest innovations available on the recently launched Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6. The interactive displays showcase how Galaxy AI enables new ways to create, connect and play.

Visitors will know they’ve stepped into the next level of mobile tech as they move between the immersive zones – from discovering new places to capturing great content and communicating across language barriers, visitors witness how Galaxy AI amplifies everyday activities. In the upcoming weeks, Galaxy Studio visitors will experience a different twist of what the Galaxy Z series now has to offer.

At the beginning of the experience, all visitors receive a Samsung Galaxy Studio passport that allows them to on the Galaxy Voyage. The passport is used to keep track of what they experience and gets stamped at each experience zone. Upon completion of the journey and experiencing all the amazing things the devices can do, guests will leave with a complimentary frame with AI drawing or a printout of their photo taken with the Flexcam. There’s more! At the end of the Galaxy Studio on August 18, there will be a lucky draw where three lucky visitors with fully stamped passports will each win a new Galaxy Z Flip6 and flip their entire mobile experience with AI.

In addition, visitors can learn all about customisation options, discover seamless connectivity with Galaxy wearables, and explore a range of accessories designed to complement their Galaxy experience. As a special offer at Galaxy Studio, qualifying purchases and completion of Galaxy Voyage will entitle consumers to a complimentary Galaxy SmartTag2.
