Samsung Electronics has unveiled Galaxy XR, introducing a new category of AI-native devices designed to deliver immersive experiences in a form factor optimised for multimodal AI. As the first product built on the new Android XR platform developed together by Samsung, Google and Qualcomm Technologies, Galaxy XR showcases the future of discovery, play and work, enabling users to enjoy natural, deeply immersive experiences — from daily tasks to bold new frontiers. It’s the first step in Samsung’s long-term XR journey, with innovations to come across the full spectrum of XR form factors, including AI glasses.

“With Galaxy XR, Samsung is introducing a brand-new ecosystem of mobile devices,” said Won-Joon Choi, Chief Operating Officer of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics. “Built on Android XR, Galaxy XR expands the vision for mobile AI into a new frontier of immersive and meaningful possibilities, allowing XR to move from concept to everyday reality, for both the industry and users.”

“Android XR is the first Android platform built entirely for the Gemini era, and we are incredibly excited to take a significant leap forward today with the launch of Galaxy XR”, said Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem at Google. “Through our partnership with Samsung, Android XR will unlock entirely new ways to explore, connect and create, building an open, unified platform for the next evolution of computing.”

“Galaxy XR embodies our vision for the future, where the synergy of AI and XR transforms the possibilities of personal computing,” said Alex Katouzian, Group GM of Mobile, Compute & XR at Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating on this initiative, as Galaxy XR will help to bring new use cases across various industries and pave the way for exciting multi-device experiences, all enabled by our work with Samsung and Google.

Designed to Unlock the Full Power of Multimodal AI

Galaxy XR is unlocking new possibilities with multimodal AI, transforming how people connect with the world through technology in their daily lives.

To bring Samsung, Google and Qualcomm’s vision for AI to life, Galaxy XR is the first product built on the new Android XR platform, which has Gemini embedded right from the start. With Gemini integrated at the system level, Galaxy XR doesn’t feel like a tool following users’ commands but a new type of AI companion that helps them manage their tasks, delivering natural and intuitive interactions through voice, vision and gesture. In the form of a headset, it gets a better sense of users’ surroundings by seeing what they see and hearing what they hear. This allows Galaxy XR to respond in conversational ways that feel natural, giving users entirely new ways of interacting with technology.

Open Collaboration Brings a Scalable Android XR Ecosystem

As part of a long-term vision for XR, Samsung has built a new XR ecosystem in partnership with Google and Qualcomm, opening new possibilities for the industry.

Co-developed with Google and Qualcomm, Android XR is a powerful platform that puts AI at the centre of the experience. It is designed to scale across a variety of form factors, from headsets to AI glasses and beyond, and Galaxy XR benefits from the strength of its open, scalable ecosystem. All apps built on the Android platform work out of the box3 on Galaxy XR, ensuring users can enjoy familiar mobile experiences they already love and making the device as useful day-to-day as it is groundbreaking. Since the platform is built on OpenXR standards, it’s easy for developers using OpenXR, WebXR or Unity4 to bring their experiences to Galaxy XR — offering them more ways to scale and giving consumers more choices.

Discover, Work and Play Without Boundaries

Galaxy XR has been carefully engineered with a human-centric design to deliver long-term comfort. Through a combination of its shape, advanced materials and the structural optimisation of each component, Galaxy XR achieves an optimal balance between lightweight design and robustness for daily use. The headset’s ergonomically balanced frame distributes pressure across the forehead and the back of the head, minimising facial discomfort while providing steady support. The battery pack is separate from the headset, making the device more compact, light and comfortable to wear. Galaxy XR also features a detachable light shield, offering comfort when removed and deeper immersion by blocking external light when attached. These thoughtful innovations allow Galaxy XR users to fully engage in XR experiences with ease.

Auto-spatialise videos and photos into 3D6: Bring photos and videos to life by converting 2D images into 3D, turning memories into immersive experiences or reimagining them in entirely new ways.

Thanks to its advanced sensors, cameras, and powerful hardware, Galaxy XR can track users’ head, hand and eye movement and make these experiences truly immersive. The device’s microphones are strategically placed and supported by software to filter out external noises and . Through Galaxy XR, users can explore both virtual and real worlds in XR-specialised apps using natural physical interaction, with assistance from Gemini.

Despite its size, it’s packed with Samsung’s most advanced sensor technology and Galaxy AI capabilities, helping users keep tabs on their health by simply wearing it on their finger.

Samsung Newsroom unboxed the Galaxy Ring, designed to enhance both style and convenience in everyday life.

A Journey That Begins With Fine Packaging

The Galaxy Ring’s innovative form factor is reflected in its thoughtfully crafted packaging. Constructed in a clamshell design, the packaging resembles a jewelry box, thereby accentuating the wearable’s unique form. Opening the box unveils a transparent charging case with LED lighting — evoking the feeling of revealing a precious gem.

Consistent with the packaging, the charging case adopts a design similar to that of a jewelry box as well. Once opened, the charging case reveals the Galaxy Ring with its titanium frame and sleek curved body, subtly illuminated by LED lighting.

Users can access detailed health information and insights on the Samsung Health app.

Quick and Easy Pairing With Galaxy Smartphones

To use the Galaxy Ring, it must first be paired with a Galaxy smartphone. This process is very straightforward. When the case is opened, the device automatically enters pairing mode. Users can follow the instructions on their Galaxy smartphone to complete the connection.

Do you find yourself feeling more tired once the clocks spring forward for Daylight Savings Time (DST)? Well, you’re not alone. Although losing an hour the night of DST may seem insignificant, examining the sleep patterns of global Samsung Health user’s[i] from the US, Canada and more than 40 European countries reveals a ripple effect that causes weeks-long disruptions to sleep patterns, hitting younger age groups the hardest.

DST Takes a Toll on Sleep, With Younger Generations Most Disrupted

When looking into how much of an impact DST has on people the morning after, one thing is clear, everyone’s sleep patterns are thrown off. In fact, people spent a little too much time counting sheep the night of the time change, falling asleep 33 minutes later than the previous night, waking up 19 minutes earlier. While losing sleep isn’t easy at any age, those in their 20s likely felt it the most thanks to an extremely late bedtime and a seeming inability to sleep in.

Moreover, Sleep Score – calculated based on an evaluation of a users’ total sleep time, awake time, sleep cycle, plus physical and mental recovery – was at the worst level for weeks after DST – and again, people in their 20s appeared to be most affected. When examining in the seven-day Sleep Score average, the 20s age group demonstrated the slowest score recovery rate, while older age groups adapted much quicker. By the third week, Sleep Score for all age groups were still not stable as normal, showing fluctuations in the quality of a good night’s rest.

Useful Tips To Help You Get a Good Night’s Sleep and a Quicker Recovery

The transition into DST clearly affects the sleep patterns of all age groups long after the clocks change, but for younger generations, prioritising sleep management during this time couldn’t be more important. In recognition of World Sleep Day, Samsung is sharing useful tips that make understanding your sleep patterns and habits as seamless and effortless as possible for a better night’s rest.

Creating an ideal sleep environment is critical to a good night’s sleep. Later this month, Samsung Health app update[ii] will make this possible by providing guidance and analysis on the key factors that influence sleep quality, including temperature, humidity, CO2 and illuminance via a Sleep Environment Report[iii] – leveraging SmartThings and the power of Samsung’s extensive device ecosystem. With a better understanding of how your environment affects sleep, easily optimise your room conditions for an improved night’s rest.

In addition to perfecting your sleep environment, understanding how activity can impact energy level is key. Samsung Health app updates also bring enhancements to Energy Score[iv], which provides an indicator of how much energy users can expend throughout the day. In addition to sleep and heart rate, a new detailed factor about activity – Activity Consistency – will help you understand your overall condition in greater detail by evaluating your activity levels over the past four weeks.

It’s also important to understanding how you’re sleeping and making necessary adjustments through sleep training. Sleep Coaching makes this simple by seamlessly tracking your sleep patterns over 7 days and assigning a sleep animal based on the results. With a personalised coaching program, develop healthy habits and routines that set you on a positive path to achieving your sleep goals.

World Sleep Day serves as an important reminder of the importance of sleep. With the latest Samsung Health app updates and the Galaxy ecosystem, Samsung remains committed to helping users optimise their sleep and lead healthier, more balanced life.

[i]Findings analysed sleep data of Samsung Health users via Galaxy Watch series during DST in the spring of 2024.

[ii]Certain features may vary by market, carrier or paired device.

[iii]Sleep Environment Report feature will be available on smartphone with One UI 7 and Samsung Health app version 6.29.5 or higher, and when device is connected to SmartThings.

[iv]Galaxy AI features track data and require compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung Health app and Samsung account.

Today, more than ever, people are defining their own wellness goals. From looking to stay fit or gaining more muscle mass, achieving better sleep, or caring for personal or family physical and mental health issues, everyone’s goals for better health look different. But one thing is common, the daily management and path towards these goals can be complicated and challenging, and most importantly, it is defined by you.

That’s why at Samsung, we’re working to empower more people to manage their health – and those they care for – their way, with a comprehensive, yet simplified approach to everyday wellness. Our vision is to improve the health of billions through connected care centred around the home by connecting devices, services and people – like only Samsung can.

Simplifying Wellness by Uniting Scattered Health Data

One of the biggest challenges the healthcare industry is facing today is fragmented data and how to bring it all together. Samsung is uniquely positioned to undertake this with one of the largest, most diverse connected device ecosystems. Now with Samsung Health, we’re connecting different devices and partner solutions within one cohesive platform, making it simpler to track health conditions on a Galaxy wearable.

By collecting data through advanced sensor technology, you’ll receive a deeper, more holistic understanding of your health with improved insights and integrated third-party health data. And as always, your personal data on the Galaxy devices remains secure thanks to the Samsung Knox security platform.

Turning Data into Meaningful Insights with the Transformative Power of AI

Like any good data model, how you leverage the information is key. In this new mobile era of AI, Samsung is focused on remaining at the forefront of maximising information. With the intelligence of AI, the most transformative technology of the century, users will receive more personalised insights and tailored health experiences through Samsung Health’s extensive global dataset from 64M monthly active users. And while every user’s wellness journey is unique, we believe they all start in the same way – by gaining a deeper understanding of their health through more comprehensive insights, spanning the longest time possible. This is why we’ve continued to build a portfolio of tools that help track their health conveniently, continuously and accurately.

The Future of Wellness is at Your Fingers

Samsung recognises that gaining a deep understanding of one’s personal health can result in significant long-term wellness benefits for our users. As we look to deliver on our vision of providing users with a comprehensive yet simplified approach to everyday wellness, we realise choice is a big factor. Obtaining accurate, detailed and advanced information on personal health conditions is the foundation of helping better track and action change.

Mobile devices will become the primary access point for AI, and through Samsung Galaxy – with our broad and comprehensive product portfolio, heritage of innovation, and philosophy of open collaboration – we’re well positioned to accelerate its global expansion.

Samsung will continue to enrich and expand Galaxy AI experiences across our product categories and collaborations to bring forward mobile experiences that defy imagination. Through the power of intelligence, partnerships and advanced technology, we’re helping more people better understand themselves and make the small changes that have a big impact, every day.

Developing the Galaxy S24 series has been the most rewarding period of my career. As an engineer, I have witnessed many examples of incredible innovations, but AI is the most transformative technology of the century. Few engineers get the chance to be involved in something with such seismic potential. It brings great change, not only for Samsung and the mobile industry but for all humankind.

When integrated into phones, AI is, to put it simply, a revolution. This is a new era for mobile experiences and Samsung Galaxy has a leading role to play in it. Mobile devices will become the primary access point for AI, and Samsung Galaxy — with our broad and comprehensive product portfolio, heritage of innovation and philosophy of open collaboration — is in a great position to accelerate its global expansion. We will make mobile AI easy to access and ignite new possibilities for all.

Opening Up New Possibilities

As we pioneer groundbreaking experiences in mobile AI, we’ve thought a lot about how this new and exciting technology can enhance our lives and inspire society’s next steps. Applied with care and consideration, Galaxy AI1 helps people communicate beyond borders, complete everyday tasks easily and so much more.

Since the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, we’ve had great feedback about how people actually use Galaxy AI features in their daily lives. One of the most welcomed AI features is Circle to Search2 with Google, an incredible new tool for intuitive discovery. Our communication tools for removing language barriers, such as Live Translate,3 Chat Assist4 and Interpreter, have captured the imagination of many. People also love Photo Assist, our tool for creativity powered by our ProVisual Engine.

Again, we’re only getting started. While developing the Galaxy S24 series, we had many ideas and concepts that we wanted to bring to life. Galaxy users will be able to enjoy more Galaxy AI features that build on these ideas and concepts over time as Samsung continuously enhances and grows the mobile AI experience.5

Moreover, we are already planning next steps for Galaxy AI beyond smartphones — optimizing it for various categories of devices across various services. In the near future, select Galaxy wearables will use AI to enhance digital health and unlock a whole new era of expanded, intelligent health experiences. Samsung will keep enriching and expanding Galaxy AI experiences across categories through collaborations with more industry-leading AI partners.

The Next Big Thing Is YOU

Over the past year, we frequently asked ourselves what users want or need and what they could achieve with a little assistance. These questions inspired the Galaxy S24 series, our first AI phone that invites users to imagine how their lives could change thanks to AI. It is the phone of the future — shaping the standard of mobile AI and defining this emerging category of AI phones.

Of course, there are challenges and responsibilities to consider. AI models in training are still susceptible to hallucinations, and the debate on intellectual property rights continues. It is crucial that companies openly collaborate to carefully define AI experiences, so users can confidently and reliably enjoy their new abilities.

It’s also important to raise the standards of security and privacy in this new era of data-intensive mobile experiences. That is one of the reasons we’ve taken a hybrid approach that combines on-device and cloud-based AI. Besides ensuring seamless usability, this lets users limit some features to function entirely on-device, giving them greater control over what they do with their data. We remain committed to enhancing Galaxy device security and privacy by providing users with transparency and choice.

In this new era of mobile AI, it is no longer a question of what any phone can do, but what individuals can achieve with the right tools. The Galaxy S24 series provides just some of those tools and I can’t wait to see what you will do with them. It is you who decides what’s possible, useful and meaningful. The next chapter of mobile experiences does not belong to us. It belongs to you, our Samsung Galaxy users.

1 Galaxy AI features will be provided for free until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties.
2 Results may vary depending on visual matches. Requires internet connection. Users may need to update Android to the latest version. Product functionality may be dependent on your app and device settings. Some functions may not be compatible with certain apps. Availability of the service varies by country and language. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.
3 Live Translate requires a network connection and Samsung Account login. Live Translate is only available on the pre-installed Samsung Phone app. Calls must be made using the native Samsung dialer. Certain languages may require language pack download. Service availability may vary by language. Accuracy of results is not guaranteed.
4 Requires Samsung account log in and internet connection.
5 Features and supported devices to be confirmed. Some Galaxy AI features already announced for Galaxy S24 series will be available on Galaxy S23 series, S23 FE, Z Fold 5, Z Flip5 and Tab S9 series via software updates. Availability may differ depending on model and region.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced the new Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic [1], designed to help users build healthier habits every day and through the night [2]. Galaxy Watch6 series packs holistic health offerings and powerful performance in a refined and sleek design, boasting a slimmer bezel, a larger and more vibrant display, and more interactive user interface [3]. Both models also allow users to access a greater selection of versatile watch faces as well as new band options that empower them to meet their goals.

“With the new Galaxy Watch6 and Galaxy Watch6 Classic, we are delivering on our commitment to democratize advanced health monitoring tools, now offering easier access right from the wrist,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience at Samsung Electronics. “From sleep and fitness coaching to nutritional insights, Samsung is providing new and convenient ways to help users gain understanding and take action for better health and wellness, every day and every night.”

Personalized Guidance for a Healthier You – Starting with Sleep [4]

Galaxy Watch6 series provides meaningful insights that can lead to positive changes around the clock, offering personalized and actionable tips, advice and encouragement. Recognizing that better health begins with better sleep, Samsung is helping users optimize their night in the same way they optimize their day by focusing on three key elements of better sleep: understanding personal sleep patterns, building better habits and establishing a sleep-friendly environment.

Building on leading-edge sleep and wellness features, Galaxy Watch6 series now offers in-depth analysis of Sleep Score Factors [5] – total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, plus physical and mental recovery – to help users understand the quality of sleep received each night. More individualized Sleep Messages, co-developed with the National Sleep Foundation, also provide users with detailed feedback about their sleep health each morning. Additionally, Galaxy Watch6 offers Sleep Consistency showing how consistent the user’s sleep and wake times are, and a designated Sleep Animal Symbol representing their sleep type [6].

Enhanced Sleep Coaching enables users to put sleep insights into action with tailored instructions, tips and reminders accessible on both their wrist and paired smartphone. When it’s time for bed, Galaxy Watch6 can help set the perfect sleep environment by automatically changing the settings of connected home electronics [7] and turning on Sleep Mode across the user’s watch and phone [8] to mute notifications, dim screens, and even to activate the invisible LED infrared sensor on the watch to deliver valuable health insights without additional light distractions.

Fitness features get more personalized to keep users motivated throughout their journey. Body Composition [9], with key physical measurements like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage, provides a complete snapshot of the user’s body and fitness, offering a tailored approach to set goals, track progress, and guide through personalized fitness and now nutritional tips via a new partnership with Whisk [10].

A new Personalized Heart Rate Zone feature analyzes individual physical capabilities [11] and defines five optimal running intensity levels to help users set their own goals based on their ability – from burning fat to high intensity workout. In addition to over 100 existing workout trackers, the newly added Track Run records the user’s runs on a track, while Custom Workout allows users to build and track their personalized workout routine.

Added to existing blood pressure [12] and electrocardiogram [13] monitoring, the new [14] feature helps users understand their heart health more comprehensively by checking for heart rhythms suggestive of Atrial fibrillation (AFib) in the background – even while asleep [15]. Galaxy Watch6 can also enable users to track skin temperature during the night to give valuable insights including menstrual cycle tracking [16]. And Fall Detection [17] can gauge a fall, whether occurring during exercise, when standing still, or even while sleeping if users happen to fall out of bed. Once a fall is detected, your watch will automatically alert an emergency service number or pre-selected contacts.

Refined Design, Perfectly Yours

Elevating the wearable experience, Galaxy Watch6 series offers all new designs that provide better viewing, greater power and a wider selection of more customizable and comfortable options3.

Reading and writing is easier on the 20% larger display [18], showcasing more text on screen and a larger keyboard [19] – all while maintaining a comfortable size. A more vibrant, higher resolution display boasts a peak brightness of 2,000 nits, coupled with an Always On Display brightness adjustment feature, allowing users to see and do more even under bright sunlight. Powered by the enhanced processor and memory, Galaxy Watch6 delivers smoother and faster interactions3.

Galaxy Watch6 and Watch6 Classic come with a 30% slimmer bezel and a 15% thinner rotating bezel respectively [20], enhancing the beauty of the signature circle frame. Galaxy Watch6 series features new stylish, interactive and informative watch faces that make the most of the large display, while new one-click bands allow users to easily mix and match watch bands. With over 704 unique combinations, users can design their perfect watch on For example, a new lightweight Fabric Band [22] and Sleep Coaching watch face pair perfectly to help you gain informative sleep insights in comfort.

Galaxy Watch6 series comes with a larger battery and reduced battery consumption [23] to support its larger and brighter display. With just eight minutes of quick charge, users can add an additional eight hours, perfect for tracking their sleep during the night [24].

Maximizing Your Experience Right From Your Wrist [25]

Galaxy Watch6 series brings greater capabilities to the wrist of every user. The new Samsung Wallet [26] on Galaxy Watch6 combines Samsung Pay with Samsung Pass to incorporate more of the user’s wallet – including IDs, event tickets and boarding passes as well as credit cards and membership cards – in their watch. Enhanced Gesture Control allows users to conveniently manage their watch using simple gestures for greater accessibility and ease, letting them set their own shortcuts and now access apps and functions touch-free.

WhatsApp makes it easier for Galaxy Watch users to stay connected with friends and family, all without getting out a phone. Starting from this fall, users can stay productive right from their watch with new apps from Google Calendar and Gmail, which will be exclusively available on Wear OS. They can also track fitness progress or nutritional data more easily with Peloton and MyFitnessPal updates, and coming soon, enjoy additional streaming options with Audible. Additionally, with the introduction of a new Skin Temperature API – a part of the Samsung’s Privileged Health software development kit (SDK) – partners will soon have access to advanced infrared technology for more accurate measurements to bring a whole new world of possibilities to users. A newly launched Thermo Check app takes advantage of the new API, allowing users to measure the temperature of their favorite meal or the ocean before a lap swim, contact-free.

Together with other Samsung devices, Galaxy Watch6 series expands user experiences even further. The upgraded Camera Controller enables remote control of a paired Galaxy Z Flip5 camera [27] to switch modes, angles, and zoom. Samsung Smart TV [28] or Galaxy Tab S9 shows the user’s progress in real time with a guided fitness or mindfulness program on the large screen. Users can also automatically toggle the connection of Galaxy Buds2 Pro between Samsung devices via Auto Switch. Should users happen to misplace their phone, Galaxy Watch6 series can now pinpoint its location through Find My Phone with map support [29].

And as always, personal data on the watch remains secure thanks to the Samsung Knox security platform.

Last year, I expanded my responsibilities as head of Samsung’s MX Business, to lead our Corporate Design Center. My career as an engineer taught me that the most sublime designs are intertwined with technological innovation. This new responsibility allows me to delve deeper into how the synergy of design, engineering, and R&D can yield transformative experiences. With my fellow designers, I’ve embarked on a deep exploration of Samsung’s design strategy to understand our roots and envision our growth.

Different Times, Unchanged Commitment

In 1996, Samsung committed to a philosophy: “Inspired by Humans, Creating the Future.” It means our creations are conceived with a deep understanding of you, the user, and we hold an unwavering belief that a user-centric approach is the key to the future.

We feel this even more keenly nearly 30 years on, as we contemplate the fluid nature of human interaction. Users value experiences over mere achievements and meaningful connections over raw technological prowess. We have distilled the Samsung design philosophy into three Design Identities, each one with you at the center: our products must be Essential, Innovative, and Harmonious.

Essential design prioritizes clarity of purpose and ease of daily use. Innovative design emphasizes originality, reflecting purpose in a new and distinct ways. Harmonious design ensures all elements work together for a holistic purpose, aligning with societal, environmental and ethical values.

Inspired by Humans, Creating the Future

These three Design Identities are exemplified by our latest hardware and software ecosystem.

Take, for instance, the act of folding and unfolding a smartphone. It seems simple. However, that simplicity users feel is only achieved through a rigorous focus on what is most essential and intuitive. The minimal, sleek appearance housing specialized hinge functionality emphasizes our commitment and the inherent beauty of essential design.

We’ve raised the standards for foldable smartphone ergonomics. A difference of millimeter in a device’s thickness may not sound like a big change, but every gram and millimeter in a foldable device requires an engineering breakthrough. It demands craftsmanship with passion. When done well, the benefit to users is huge. That’s why we’ve innovated to make our latest foldables slimmer and lighter than our previous generations.

Samsung Galaxy foldable is completed by its users, with its personalized experience. With our Galaxy foldables, your self-expression reaches new levels with, literally, the most flexible camera experience in Samsung Galaxy. You can capture the perfect angle, hands-free. The enhanced multitasking experience like a PC also raises the bar for productivity. You can work, collaborate, or game on-the-go.

Samsung Galaxy Tab and Wearables are designed in the same spirit. They work with each other harmoniously in an ecosystem that opens up a powerful connected experience, serving as a seamless extension of your needs, priorities and unique personality.

Whatever the Samsung Galaxy experience is, when we say, “Inspired by Humans,” we don’t just mean people. We also mean their communities, their environment and their planet. Samsung Galaxy devices are designed with sustainability for the future in mind, because even the smallest actions could contribute to a large impact – such as protecting our planet. When we say, “Creating the Future,” that includes our responsibility today to ensure a sustainable tomorrow for the future generation.

Our Shared Journey to a Better Tomorrow

When design comes together with technological innovation, it brings forth new possibilities. With innovative technologies, people can make the most of today and ultimately create the best possible tomorrow. We invite you to join us at Unpacked, where we’ll pull back the curtain on our latest devices and experiences — inspired by you, created for you.

In a way, they were nearly 30 years in the making, a culmination of decades of human-inspired design. But this is also just the beginning. Seeing the ways our innovations blend into your lives, enabling new possibilities for creativity, productivity or self-expression, will inspire the next steps of our journey. So, let’s navigate this journey together, harnessing design and technology to create a future that truly reflects you.

Mark your calendars for July 26!

With enhanced sleep features, One UI 5 Watch sets the standard for holistic wellness via a healthy night’s rest

unveiled One UI 5 Watch[1], to be available for Galaxy Watch devices later this year. The new software is designed to bring an even more personalised and intuitive health experience and includes enhancements that support better sleep — an often neglected yet essential part of overall wellness — as well as various fitness and safety features.

“Samsung is dedicated to delivering a comprehensive health experience and empowering users to reach their wellness goals. Now more than ever, we believe this starts with getting a good night’s sleep,” said Hon Pak, Vice President and Head of Digital Health Team, Mobile eXperiences Business at Samsung Electronics. “The new One UI 5 Watch continues our ongoing commitment to help people improve the quality of their sleep, so they can start each day fully recharged and ready for it.”

Better Sleep: Essential to Better Health

Samsung has focused its efforts on three key elements for better sleep: understanding personal sleep patterns, building healthy habits, and establishing a sleep-friendly environment. One UI 5 Watch delivers on these elements with an even more complete sleep experience.

The new Sleep Insights UI prominently displays the user’s sleep score to provide a clearer snapshot of the prior night’s rest, followed by related metrics like sleep phases, snoring hours and blood oxygen levels. In addition, Sleep Coaching — tailored around eight different sleep types[2] — also becomes fully accessible directly on Galaxy Watch as well as a paired phone, making for a more convenient and motivational way for users to track their habits anytime, anywhere.

Creating a comfortable environment can make all the difference in sleep quality, and even small distractions can have outsized impacts. That’s why Samsung has made it easier to connect Galaxy Watch to a wide range of devices. Once the user’s Galaxy Watch detects that they have fallen asleep, SmartThings lets the user switch off their connected devices to create a more conducive environment for rest. Sleep Mode swiftly mutes notifications and dims the user’s phone and watch screens, and One UI 5 Watch builds on this feature by now utilising an infrared sensor rather than a green LED light to further minimise distractions.

A Smarter Fitness Partner

Personalised Heart Rate Zone has been added to Galaxy Watch’s various tailored running tools — including real-time running analysis and a customised interval training program. This new feature analyses individual physical capabilities[3] and sets five optimal workout intensity levels (warm-up, fat burn, cardio, hard-training and max. effort). This enables users to set their own goals based on their ability, from burning fat to high-impact cardio.

Outdoor activity enthusiasts with Galaxy Watch Pro can look forward to additional benefits, starting with an expanded Route Workout—which now supports running and walking alongside previously available hiking and cycling route options. Galaxy Watch Pro users can also search and access the GPX File Database directly via Samsung Health app, and receive recommendations on new routes based on inputs like location, time, rating or popularity[4].

Safety First, Always On

Safety is a must when it comes to health and wellness, and One UI 5 Watch also offers improved tools for greater peace of mind. Updates to the SOS feature enable direct communication to an emergency telephone number to relay information on the wearer’s location[5], and also allow immediate access to the wearer’s Medical Information once an SOS is activated. In addition, Fall Detection is now activated by default for users of advanced ages[6] to help lower the risk of emergencies. These are just some of the examples of Samsung’s ongoing efforts to enhance user safety.

One UI 5 Watch will be available first on the upcoming Galaxy Watch series later this year with further updates to be announced soon.

[1] Availability of the features may vary by market, carrier, model and the paired smartphone. The features are not intended for use in the diagnosis of disease or other conditions, or in the cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease.

[2] For sleep pattern results, user must wear watch while they sleep for at least 7 nights and complete a survey.

[3] After 10 minutes of running, Galaxy Watch calculates Personalised Heart Rate Zone based on VO2max and aerobic/anoxic thresholds.

[4] Available on a paired smartphone. The selected route can be viewed on their watch.
