Samsung Electronics has launched “Why Samsung,” a global campaign that highlights four core values that set the company’s home appliances apart: Bespoke AI, SmartThings[1], Security and Reliability.

The campaign aims to deliver these core values and the messages behind them to consumers in over 50 countries through various digital platforms, including Samsung.com, YouTube and social media channels, it began in October.

To kick off the campaign, Samsung released a video that highlights the innovative Artificial Intellifence (“AI”) technologies behind Bespoke AI. Samsung’s refrigerators, ovens and other home appliances work together to create an intelligent AI kitchen. Products like the all-in-one washer-dryer deliver optimised performance for every cycle, while the robot vacuum cleaner provides personalised experiences tailored to users’ lifestyles and needs.

Robust security ensures users can enjoy their smart appliances with confidence.[2] In particular, Knox provides thorough protection from malware and external threats.[3] Also, SmartThings1, with its unparalleled connectivity, serves as the central engine of the AI home.

Samsung continues to strengthen the quality, durability, and customer service of its home appliances to ensure lasting reliability throughout each product’s lifecycle. Leveraging its competitive edge in key components such as compressors and motors, the company further elevates the user experience by offering the Home Appliance Remote Management (HRM) service[4] – now available in more than 120 countries[5] – and providing up to seven years of free One UI upgrades[6] that keep products up to date with the latest AI features and security enhancements.

“The ‘Why Samsung’ campaign brings together what truly defines Samsung appliances — innovative Bespoke AI, seamless SmartThings connectivity, trusted Knox security, and lasting reliability,” said Jessie Song, Vice President and Head of Marketing Group at Digital Appliances (DA) Business, Samsung Electronics. “Moving forward, we will continue to deliver compelling messages to consumers worldwide about why … Samsung…”

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. unveiled its refreshed “AI Home” vision and innovative appliance line-up at its global launch event, Welcome to Bespoke AI, in Seoul, Korea. With a focus on providing a more secure and intuitive user experience, the company introduced an AI Home experience, showcasing advanced AI features and a wider range of screen-enabled appliances.

Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, opened the global press conference by introducing the company’s vision for creating an AI Home that harmoniously connects various devices and, as a result, caters to user needs in every room of the home.

“Through our Bespoke AI appliances, Samsung has brought an AI Home to life that not only enhances everyday convenience but also enables energy savings and care,” said Jeong Seung Moon. “We will continue to expand the advanced AI Home to more households, leveraging smart screens, Bixby and Knox security.”

The 2025 Bespoke AI Appliance Line-up

During the event, Samsung introduced its Bespoke AI appliances for 2025, which bring new and innovative functionalities to solve users’ difficult problems.

At the heart of the company’s vision is the AI Home display.[1] Built upon the innovation of the first introduction of the AI Home display last year, the AI Home with new size options has been expanded to a broad range of new products, such as Bespoke AI Refrigerators, the Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, Washers, and Dryers.[2]

The 9-inch AI Home screen on the Bespoke AI Refrigerator line-up increases consumers’ options by offering a similar experience to what’s available on the larger AI Family Hub screen. With the upgraded AI Vision Inside,[3] food management has been enhanced with new features such as recognition of processed food items,[4] for models with the AI Family Hub and those with the AI Home. Through the 7-inch AI Home in the Bespoke AI Laundry, users can intuitively control the washing and drying cycles, as well as monitor and control other connected devices.[5]

Moreover, the new Bespoke AI appliances bring enhanced features that adapt to consumer needs. For example, the Bespoke AI Hybrid Refrigerator utilises AI to efficiently cool the inside of the fridge, detecting its current status and predicting internal temperature changes to effectively adapt cooling.

The Bespoke AI Laundry includes new functions to enhance consumer convenience, with new standalone models that have upgraded AI Wash and AI Dry to AI Wash+ and AI Dry+,[6] as well as models to be launched in Europe, using up to 55% less energy than class A minimum requirements for the washer.[7] Also, Samsung unveiled the new Bespoke AI Laundry Vented Combo, which is the first ever vented combo in its class.[8] It significantly reduces drying time, finishing both washing and drying in 68 minutes with its Super Speed cycle.

Samsung is continuing to innovate its vacuum cleaner line-up, as well. The cordless stick vacuum cleaner, the Bespoke AI Jet Ultra, will be launched with the world’s most powerful[9] suction power of up to 400W.[10] The upgraded AI Cleaning Mode 2.0 [11] classifies more diverse environment [12] like corners [13] and the type of carpets[14] for improved cleaning performance.

Samsung also revealed the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam Ultra.[15] Not only is the robot vacuum cleaner designed to climb thresholds, but it is also enhanced with AI Object Recognition for complex environments,[16] which can recognise obstacles as small as 1cm, and even transparent liquids[17] for better cleaning results. And when it encounters corners or walls, the brush pops out, allowing it to clean areas that can be difficult for typical robot vacuum cleaners to deal with.

Samsung Home Appliances Bring Easy to Use, Care and Saving to Consumers

Samsung elaborated further on its “AI Home” vision and its commitment to integrating AI across the connected experience to cater to diverse lifestyles — through the core benefits of Easy to Use, Care and Saving.

Thanks to the adoption of the AI Home display, users will find it easier than ever to engage with the full functionality of their Bespoke AI appliances. The smart screen is now an even better central control hub, even connecting third party devices through SmartThings without the need for a separate hub device. [18] Users can also utilise features like the refrigerators’ Daily Board to receive personalised information and better manage their day — or use Map View to effortlessly monitor and control other connected devices.

The upgraded Bixby allows for easier control of appliances through voice commands and enhances usability through new features like Voice ID.[19] It personalises services by recognising the user’s voice, switching to the Samsung account of the speaker and showing their calendar on the screen. And if that person also uses the low vision option on their Galaxy smartphone, it will be synced to the screen for a better viewing experience.

New SmartThings services were also introduced during the event, including Family Care,[20] which sends an alert to other family members if a user’s movement is not detected at the set time — or if there is no activity for a certain amount of time after the last activity. It is also possible to use the robot vacuum cleaner to look for signs of an emergency, with all of this functionality being tightly secured by Samsung Knox.

Continued Efforts To Deliver Reliable Experiences

To complete its “AI Home” vision for 2025, Samsung shone a light on how it is pushing the boundaries of innovation, prioritising a trusted experience for users.

First, Samsung will apply enhanced Knox security to devices across the line-up so that users will be able to enjoy their AI Home experience with peace of mind. This year in particular, Trust Chain, which is part of Knox Matrix, is applied to all Wi-Fi enabled appliances launching in 2025. Users can continuously monitor products’ security status in real time through the dashboard.[21]

Knox Vault is also applied to home appliances for the first time,[22] storing particularly sensitive user information, such as passwords and authentication information, in a separate hardware chip to ensure protection. Furthermore, to protect against the potential of future quantum attacks, Samsung’s security is also equipped with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), a part of Knox Matrix Credential Sync, for its screen-applied products.[23]

Another key priority for Samsung is making sure that customers can use the latest software features on their existing appliances without buying new ones. With Smart Forward,[24] the software update service through SmartThings, Samsung continuously updates its appliances with new features to enhance the consumer experience.

Samsung is also actively improving product maintenance. SmartThings Home Care utilises AI to diagnose each appliance’s status, and if signs of malfunction are detected, it sends a notification in advance. In addition, a technical support representative can provide guidance on remote measures based on pre-diagnosis results.[25] This support feature has already expanded to more countries, including France, Netherlands, and Canada, following Korea and the United States.

By integrating all of these wide-ranging initiatives, Samsung aims to create safer and more reliable smart home experiences that users can enjoy with comfort and peace of mind.

How Galaxy’s Security & Privacy features are keeping you safe Our phones are constantly in our hands, but have you considered how often they get

How Galaxy’s Security & Privacy features are keeping you safe

Our phones are constantly in our hands, but have you considered how often they get into the hands of others? Whether it’s entertaining a child, showing something funny to a friend or sending it in for repair; we hand over our precious devices surprisingly often. Each time we do that, we risk allowing too much access. It’s an invasion of privacy, waiting to happen.

With Pin App and Maintenance Mode, you don’t have to worry about anyone snooping around. You get to decide what people can and can’t see, no matter who’s got their hands on your device. It’s like having a personal bouncer for your phone.

Pin App

There’s a feeling you get when you hand over your phone to show somebody some pictures. It could be your holiday snaps, or just something funny you saved. But then they accidentally open another app and now they see a photo or message or anything else you didn’t intend to show them. It’s a horrifying moment, but Pin App can stop that from happening again.

Think of Pin App like a personal bouncer for your apps, stopping people from getting into where they’re not welcome. Instead, it keeps them exactly where they’re supposed to be – in the app you’ve pinned and nowhere else.

Pin App also acts as a Do Not Disturb sign, preventing awkward pop-up notifications that risk showing sensitive information when all you wanted to do was to share a funny social media post.

Setting up Pin App is quick and easy. Simply go to your Settings, then into Security and Privacy. Next, scroll down and find More Security Settings, and you can toggle the switch for Pin App on or tap on the text to view more settings. For extra security, you can choose ‘Ask for PIN before unpinning’, so whoever has your phone will need a password to get out of the pinned application.

Then, open the app you want to pin. Tap the Recents button (or swipe up and hold if you’re using swipe gestures) then tap the icon above the app. Select the ‘Pin this app’ option and that’s it.

Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Pin app

Maintenance Mode

Many of us at some point during the lifecycle of our device, will find ourselves submitting our phone to a third-party repair service for that cracked screen or that damaged charging port. More often than not, we need to send our device away for a period of time to have the repair done which brings its own risks including the ability of third parties to access private information on our devices.

Even the most careful among us can’t avoid accidents. When you send your phone away to get that cracked screen or damaged charging port fixed, you’ve got no idea who can access your data. This is where Samsung’s Maintenance Mode can be used.[1] It is specifically designed to protect and hide your personal data from being accessed when your device leaves your hands and is sent away for any type of repair.

When you activate Maintenance Mode, you can set up a distinct user profile, ensuring your primary account and data remain private. This mode can be activated either through the device’s Settings, where you tap Device Care before navigating to and tapping Maintenance Mode; or can be activated through the Samsung Members app.

Once Maintenance Mode has been turned on, you can conceal all your personal data including photos, videos, contacts and messages and prevent any unauthorised access. It also ensures that no data is erased by accident from your device, for instance, by a repair service centre.[2]

If you do need to send your device away for those repair activities, you can also ensure that those accessing it will only have access to basic device features that enable them to perform the necessary service diagnosis. Settings > Device care > Maintenance mode

Secure Folder

Samsung Knox provides layers of security and privacy, not only to protect users but also to give them choice in what they want to secure. For those who want to keep their most personal information separate and safe, there’s Secure Folder.

It’s a container that locks away your data so it cannot be accessed through your phone’s regular storage. It can hold your most private data such as calendar schedules and contact information, as well as notes, photos, videos, files and even apps. You can even encrypt the Secure Folder to keep your apps and data even more locked down until the next time you open the folder.

You can find Secure Folder in your apps. The first time you open it, you’ll have to set your lock type to either a PIN, pattern, or password. In addition to these, you can also add fingerprint access – and then you’re good to go. Anything you create within the Secure Folder will be automatically stored here, but you can also move data here any time.

For example, if you want to keep a copy of your driver’s license, you can take a photo of it using the Camera app within Secure Folder, or you can pick a photo in your Gallery, tap the options menu (the three dots), and then select ‘Move to Secure Folder’. There are a lot of things you can’t control, but when it comes to your privacy, Samsung wants to give you as much control as possible. With Pin App, Maintenance Mode and Secure Folder, you’ve got that extra reassurance against prying eyes. Settings > Security and privacy > More security settings > Secure Folder

How Samsung Knox evolved to protect users worldwide and how the company is now ushering in a new era for device security

Samsung Electronics’ Samsung Knox security platform is 10 years old! Named after one of the most heavily guarded places, it was first introduced at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in 2013.

That is a decade of cutting-edge mobile protection for users around the world, during which Samsung Knox evolved into a holistic security platform synonymous with safeguarding billions of consumers and businesses. And now, Samsung is addressing the next frontier of device security with Knox Matrix.

Bringing Security to an Increasingly Connected World

Knox Matrix is Samsung’s vision for a future where devices connected in an ecosystem can protect each other – as well as their users. It is a comprehensive approach to security, which will become increasingly essential as more devices and aspects of our lives become connected.

Many users around the world already own an array of connected devices, from mobile devices and TVs to refrigerators and robot vacuum cleaners. The presence of over 14 billion connected devices on the market demonstrates the vastness of this landscape, which shows no signs of shrinking.

Samsung is aware that despite the benefits, increased connectivity has the potential to lead to more exploitations. Traditional security infrastructure that protects single devices will be unable to keep up, as one compromised device stands the chance of impacting others within the same ecosystem. Knox Matrix will address this challenge through a revolutionary concept that paves the way for multi-device security for mobile phones, TVs, home appliances, and more.

Samsung devices that are empowered with Knox Matrix work to protect one another in a trusted network. If one element is compromised, Knox Matrix will isolate it from the ecosystem in order to protect the others. Having Knox Matrix supported across devices can effectively turn a smart home into a smart shield – the more devices a user has connected, the stronger their overall security.

There are currently three critical features of Knox Matrix that ensure its success. Trust Chain has devices monitoring each other for threats. Credential Sync secures user information as data is moved between devices; and Cross Platform SDK will enable devices on various operating systems and platforms (including but not limited to Android, Tizen and Windows) to join Knox Matrix with consistent security standards. This way, we can keep devices safe even in a hyper-connected world.

Knox Matrix manages all this within a private blockchain, allowing compatible devices to check each other for breaches and ensure safety with intelligent threat monitoring. With these steps in place and more features to be introduced, users will be able to enjoy multiple connected devices safely and conveniently.

The Path to the Next Frontier: Stronger Together

Creating the foundations for the next era of device security requires careful consideration. Knox Matrix’s development is going strong, but there are challenges on the way to the next frontier. These include reconciling the many different types of products, with varying operating systems and security standards, into a frictionless system able to work as one.

As devices become more connected, Samsung must also ensure they are not more complicated to use. With Knox Matrix, we are working to offer users transparency and choice along with protection. Users should be safe in the knowledge that they can make informed decisions about their devices, so they can be protected without hassle. We anticipate that Knox Matrix will alert users of potentially unsafe situations, such as the use of old firmware, offering suggestions for any next steps.

The power of Knox Matrix to protect connected ecosystems will be demonstrated in phases, starting with Samsung Galaxy products, such as smartphones and tablets. Knox Matrix-compatible models will be available from 2024, initially with the three core features mentioned above and more expected to follow via updates. This will expand to cover Samsung’s home appliance devices within the next two to three years, followed by partner devices. Development is already underway for partner device compatibility.

A Trusted Record of Secure Innovations

Samsung already has a long history of enabling different kinds of devices to work seamlessly together through SmartThings. In line with the company’s philosophy of open collaboration, Samsung has also been working closely with the most trusted industry partners and the wider security community to define and expand security standards, by better identifying flaws before they become problematic.

More eyes, more heads, better solutions. This background serves as a key foundation for all Samsung Galaxy devices, along with end-to-end protection and real-time threat detection that is built into every single layer of its products.

Knox Matrix is just the latest development in the innovative history of Samsung Knox security. Samsung most recently introduced Knox Vault, a key security solution that isolates users’ most sensitive data to ensure it never falls into the wrong hands.

Previous evolutions included TrustZone, which provided a secure environment within the main operating system to run sensitive applications and processes separately from regular software. As such, work and play could coexist securely on the same device. Samsung Knox also evolved into Knox Suite[1] in order to help businesses and key institutions around the world efficiently secure, deploy and manage their fleet of devices with customisable, easy-to-manage software and end-to-end security.

Samsung can proudly say that Knox is one of the most trusted security platforms – thanks to its defense-grade security. We are confident Samsung Knox is best placed to provide one of the best device security systems. Connected technology will help us create better lives and better experiences — and more connectivity does not necessarily have to mean more risk. With Samsung Knox, Samsung is setting the foundation for a safer tomorrow to be stronger together.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 27 SEPTEMBER, 2019 – A substantial amount of South Africans use their smartphones for both personal and business use. The advantages of allowing employees to utilise their devices and operating systems, includes boosting productivity and curbing company costs. However, this also presents opportunities for enterprising hackers. The fact is, smartphones can open the door for cybercriminals to infiltrate company networks. Therefore, in order to make the most of the convenience of smartphones, companies need to move quickly to gain control of their entire mobile environment.

“Always-on employees offer significant benefits to organisations operating in a digital world, but having all employees directly connected to enterprise systems wherever they are, can increase the company’s information security risk profile. This is where Samsung Knox rises to the challenge. Defence-grade security is less of a nice-to-have and undeniably a must-have,” says Justin Hume, Director: Integrated Mobility for Samsung South Africa.

With advancing technology, hackers have also become more inventive, so securing data has to be more effective than simply being alerted about threats coming in. The key is to embed security into every aspect of a phone. Fortunately, Samsung has taken a giant leap forward in device security. Samsung Knox is Samsung’s defence-grade mobile security platform built into its devices. It protects against intrusion, malware, and malicious threats. Samsung designed Knox to address these threats, which are far too real. With hackers finding inventive ways to get your information, Knox had to be a step ahead and is.

With Knox, you have peace of mind you simply won’t have otherwise. And even more reassuring is that Samsung Knox is built into Samsung smartphones, tablets, and wearables at the manufacturing stage, so you have it the moment the device is unpacked.

Summary

Smartphones have now become a necessary business tool

Employees who are connected to the office remotely can expand the boundaries of productivity

Advances in security can ensure that mobile technology protects against threats

Smartphone features can enhance corporate images

Productivity is boosted by the unique features of the Galaxy Note9

The rapid advancements in mobile technology have transformed how businesses communicate, operate and interact with customers and employees. Smartphones connected to wireless networks have become the fastest moving part of the modern business machine. And companies who are mobile-minded are now, more than ever before, in the driver’s seat.

Justin Hume, Director: Integrated Mobility at Samsung South Africa says, “As a company committed to making lives better, we are excited about the many pioneering ways our smartphones, such as the recently launched Galaxy Note9, have influenced a new, more robust business model. Companies are no longer constrained by the walls in which they operate and the traditional tools which don’t link in to the always-on culture of today’s business landscape. Mobile technology has raised the roof and opened a world of possibility.”

Connect To Greater Productivity

The demands placed on business systems, company processes and employees in today’s fast-paced world are immense. With remote working and the need to constantly be on the go and connected, organisations need to keep up with technology that can take the pace. Employees and customers can be easily connected through a smartphone. With innovations like all-day battery life, incredible storage capabilities and exceptional security, mobile phones can take the reins, both inside and outside the workplace.

Protect The Business Effortlessly

Another important consideration is the protection of corporate information. Cyber-attacks are on the rise and employee business devices have exposed enterprises to data breaches, malware threats and corporate espionage. Even though traditional networks have always fallen victim to these threats, mobile technology is often perceived as a bigger concern. The fact that hackers can gain access to a device in just 30 seconds through an unsecured network is cause for alarm.

Fortunately, technology can also work against hackers. The exceptional Knox is integrated into all Samsung devices. It’s a defence-grade security platform which has created a suite of purpose-built, innovative and intuitive business tools designed to protect businesses from hackers or malicious malware. In addition, the device can be set up to be unlocked via facial recognition, iris scanning, fingerprint, pattern, PIN or password. This peace of mind ensures that businesses can continue to safely embrace the mobile revolution.

Make A Good First And Last Impression

Corporate images are also better served by mobile technology. The Note9’s Bluetooth-enabled S Pen makes a presentation look world class simply through its ability to change presentation slides, share notes or even take a picture – all from nine meters away. If a picture is worth a thousand words, Samsung’s most intelligent camera yet, speaks volumes. The combination of pixel-perfect images and the ability to present them efficiently, elevates the perceived standards in a client presentation.

Do More On The Move

With the weight of information that is created and transferred between colleagues and customers, memory size impacts the viability of smartphones. The Note9 has addressed this with massive memory options, up to one terabyte. With mobile technology elevated to these levels there is very little reason to doubt the continued popularity of mobile technology for business. The DeX Cable is another way to bridge the smartphone and the office. This Note9 HDMI cable simply plugs into a PC to mirror the employee’s smartphone or to create a second screen on which to effortlessly perform business tasks. The fact is, the distance between the office and the smartphone is much smaller than ever before. It’s already almost non-existent.

“Smartphones are not the future. They are the present. What we can already do with right device in our hands is truly staggering. Business is on the move and mobile is driving it,” adds Hume.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 13 June 2018 – By 2020, an estimated 23.28 million South Africans will be using smartphones.[i] With cloud technology becoming increasingly popular as a business solution, more and more people will be using their personal devices to access work-related data remotely.[ii] Innovative technology means that mobile security is more advanced than ever before and both business and personal data can be effectively secured.

According to research, over 80% of employees use their own phones or tablets for doing tasks for work.[iii] While this may sound like there are a lot of highly motivated and dedicated workers out there, the reality is that technological advancement has simply made this possible. Mobile virtualisation is a term relating to the ability to create two separate environments or personas on one device – which means private and business information and activities can be completely separate, with different security protocols.[iv]

A malware or virus doctor isn’t the solution anymore. With advancing technology, hackers also become more advanced, so securing data has to be more effective than simply putting a fence around something or being alerted about threats coming in. The key is to embed security into every aspect of a phone – from the foundations.

Craige Fleischer, Vice President of Integrated Mobility for Samsung South Africa, says, “Knox is Samsung’s guarantee of security, which gives users the freedom to work and play, how and when they want. The Samsung Knox platform is built into Samsung smartphones, tablets and wearables at the manufacturing stage, so it’s there before the device is even unpacked. The Knox platform consists of overlapping defence and security mechanisms that protect against intrusion, malware and more malicious threats.”

But it’s not just about detecting threats – authentication systems verify not only the person performing the transaction, but also the permission to perform it at that exact time and location. This means that if a user is doing something sensitive in a location that’s not conducive to such activity, the device won’t allow it to happen.[v]

That’s just on a personal level. The Samsung Knox Platform for Enterprise gets even more intelligent, allowing IT managers to create bespoke solutions for their business needs that is capable of being managed and controlled remotely. Each business-use device can be managed and secured by Knox Platform for Enterprise, which provides IT with government-certified data encryption, advanced VPN and powerful tools to manage and monitor corporate devices and data traffic usage. IT is even able to choose to deploy an on-device container to separate work and personal data.[vi]

“As the world becomes increasingly mobile, security and privacy are of utmost importance. Being able to separate business from personal activities doesn’t just protect businesses’ sensitive data, it also protects employees personal information,” concludes Fleischer.

In addition to introducing exciting new ways to capture and share memorable moments, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ offer users the peace of mind in knowing that their most cherished content is protected by Samsung’s defense-grade Knox security platform, and by the top-of-the-line biometric technologies that have become synonymous with Samsung’s flagship devices.

To offer users greater flexibility and convenience, the Galaxy S9 introduces support for innovative biometric authentication features that add new layers to the Galaxy line’s already stout security. Let’s take a closer look at how innovations like Intelligent Scan and Dedicated Fingerprint will streamline how users access their phone and safeguard their personal data.

An Intelligent Approach to Authentication

To make unlocking the Galaxy S9 as simple as possible, Samsung combined its advancements in iris scanning, facial-recognition and intelligent technologies to create a seamless biometric security solution that offers users fast and secure access to their device.

Intelligent Scan is a deep learning-based verification solution that utilizes the collective strength of the Galaxy S9’s iris scanning and facial recognition technologies to allow users to unlock their device and access protected content with a simple glance. The solution works by carefully analyzing your face’s visible features, as well as the lighting conditions of your surroundings, and determining the optimal authentication method to open your phone. Intelligent Scan’s multimodal approach allows it to ensure that biometric authentication occurs successfully in virtually any environment.

The Galaxy S9’s advanced facial-recognition technology utilizes an immense amount of data to recognize your face’s distinct features from a wide range of angles, and its iris-scanning technology has been enhanced to identify unique iris patterns from greater distances. This powerful combination of cutting-edge biometric and intelligent innovations allows the Galaxy S9 to recognize users even when a piece of clothing or an accessory is obstructing part of their face. So you won’t be required to remove your cap or adjust your scarf whenever you’d like to unlock your phone.

Going forward, Samsung plans to integrate Intelligent Scan support into a wide range of applications, beginning with Samsung Pass. Adding this functionality to the app will allow users to enjoy the same streamlined security when entering website logins and other sensitive information within the Samsung Internet mobile app.

Premium Security at Your Fingertips

The Galaxy S9 also introduces new capabilities to the rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that make this tried-and-true authentication method even more useful.

The sensor, which is conveniently located beneath the camera for easy access, now allows users to register fingerprints with a single swipe, and designate a Dedicated Fingerprint to use to apply an additional layer of security to their device’s Secure Folder. This encrypted folder offers a safe, conveniently accessible home for private apps and files that users can securely lock with their Dedicated Fingerprint, or with a PIN, pattern, passcode or iris scan.

When users unlock their phone using this finger, rather than bringing them to the home screen, the device will automatically display their Secure Folder’s contents. Users can also select how they would like the folder to be displayed – either as a traditional folder, or as a launcher. The latter will launch a secure home screen that’s populated only by their designated private apps, as well as a Secure Folder widget that allows them to easily add more.

Together, the streamlined biometric technologies featured in the Galaxy S9 and S9+ offer users a mobile experience that’s not only more seamless and convenient, but more personalized than ever.
