JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 18 June, 2019 – Samsung today announced its new 27-inch CRG5(C27RG5) gaming monitor, the latest in Samsung’s line of curved gaming monitors. The CRG5 delivers innovative new gaming features including a lightning-fast 240Hz refresh rate and NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility — providing a powerful combination of unparalleled picture quality and speed for intense gameplay.

“Samsung’s delivering next-level gaming experiences with innovative curved displays using the latest graphics technology to immerse gamers like never before,” said Reggie Nxumalo, Head of B2B at Samsung South Africa. “Combining a 240Hz refresh rate with NVIDIA G-SYNC compatibility in Samsung’s new CRG5 curved gaming monitor gives gamers advanced performance for the most graphic-intense games.”

The 27-inch CRG5 delivers a 1500R display curvature combined with a lightning-fast refresh rate through 240Hz RapidCurve technology, eliminating screen lag time while displaying ultra-smooth scenes for a truly immersive experience. The monitor has been validated by NVIDIA to meet the performance and image quality requirements for G-SYNC compatibility and delivers smooth, tear-free, low-latency gameplay during any scene, all in full HD resolution (1920×1080). The monitor has deeper blacks and brighter whites with a 3000:1 contrast ratio, providing superfine detail even in the brightest and darkest parts of a game. CRG5 has a curved vertical alignment (VA) panel display, providing an immersive gaming experience with wide viewing angle.

CRG5’s minimal bezel design offers near edge-to-edge screen on three sides and a sturdy, ergonomic stand to help gamers stay comfortably immersed in gameplay. Gamers can also select pre-set display options for any genre of game with an on-screen digital menu, and for more advanced customisation users can create up to three separate display profiles to easily switch between.

The new curved gaming monitor joins Samsung’s full line of innovative curved gaming displays, including the company’s new ground-breaking 49-inch, CRG9 that immerses gamers in detail and colour with a high-resolution super ultra-wide gaming monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio, dramatic 1800R curved screen and HDR1000. The Dual QHD display (5120×1440) leverages Samsung’s revolutionary Quantum dot technology for an exceptionally wide range of accurate colour reproduction, so every game feels true to life.
The CRG5 will be available globally in Q3 2019.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa – 01 March, 2019 – We now work in an era where space and cost saving is an integral part of workplace design. This is exactly why the arrival of Samsung’s Space Monitor couldn’t be better timed. Its unique design gives the user back 40% more workspace compared to a regular monitor of the same size*. Additionally, Space monitor’s clean design means that unsightly cords are tucked away nicely within the unit, keeping spaces clutter free. The hinge, which is all this monitor stands on, is built to be able to stand up to thousands of movements and allows you to precisely put the screen just where you want it.

“We’re pleased to introduce the space maximising Space Monitor to South Africa. This is an innovation meticulously designed for the constraints and challenges of the contemporary office,” says Reginald Nxumalo, Director: Consumer Electronics, Samsung South Africa

Space where you need it

The Space Monitor enhances work efficiency. When you need more space on your desk, you can simply push it flat against the wall or edge of your desk. In an instant, you can tackle tasks that require more space. When you want to use it again, you simply pull the Space Monitor towards you and adjust to your preferred viewing position.

Effortless Performance

Of course, the Space Monitor does more than just save a massive amount of desk space. It’s actually a monitor that delivers unrivalled performance. The 27″ Space Monitor is a WQHD clamp-type Monitor with nearly 1.7 x the pixel density of Full HD and a 144Hz Refresh Rate It delivers incredibly detailed, pin-sharp images that lets you view documents and webpages with less scrolling, and let you work more comfortably with multiple windows and toolbars, and enjoy your photos, videos and games in stunning WQHD quality. Multitasking is also made easier as it displays input from two sources at their native resolution. And it’s all packaged in an understated stylish solution.

Once you decided that the Space Monitor is a must-have, it should come as no surprise the stand’s adjustable clamp allows it to be securely attached to desks and tables with a wide range of thicknesses – effortlessly. All factors considered, the Space Monitor is a great example of human-centred technology that makes life easier.

The stylish Space-Saving Designed Monitor will be available in SA from April 2019 with a recommended retail price of between R8,500 to R9,000.

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa, 20 February, 2018 – Samsung Electronics will expand the connectivity and performance capabilities of its signature curved display line-up with the debut of its new CJ791 monitor, the first curved monitor to feature Intel’s Thunderbolt 3 connectivity. Designed for entertainment and business audiences, the 34-inch CJ791 model aligns single-source power and processing speed with an exceptional picture quality for a comfortable and productive user experience.

Through a single Thunderbolt 3 cable, CJ791 users can link and dock their monitor and laptop without extensive wiring. The Thunderbolt 3 connection provides processing speed of up to 40 Gigabits per second (Gbps) – a rate nearly four times faster than USB alternatives – allowing users to enjoy connectivity across a full ecosystem of docks, displays and peripheral devices including Macs, USB type-C laptops, and other desktop accessories like storage drives or external graphics cards. The Thunderbolt 3 interface also enables the CJ791 to provide up to 85 watts (W) of laptop charging power.

“As the pioneer of the curved monitor industry, Samsung continues to seek new ways to refine our displays and exceed consumers’ expectations on heightened performance and presentation,” said Mike van Lier, Director of consumer Electronics, Samsung South Africa. “The CJ791 aligns Thunderbolt 3 connectivity with our best-in-class curvature and QLED picture quality to captivate and engage users, while also promoting improved organization and productivity.”

Efficiency at Work

The CJ791’s clear, detail-rich design empowers business users to complete a range of tasks more efficiently. A 21:9 aspect ratio provides more screen real estate for multitasking, while a complementary 3440×1440 ultra-wide QHD resolution elevates content and imagery with nearly 2.5 times the pixel density of full HD alternatives. In turn, professionals can view large files, spreadsheets and data tables in a more readable format, and without extensive scrolling or zooming.

Professional users can also enjoy the flexibility to customize the CJ791 to their unique workspace. Along with the wire-reducing Thunderbolt 3 connectivity, the CJ791’s slim-depth and narrow-bezel design accommodates multi-display setups without sacrificing content consistency or visual appearance. The display’s height-adjustable stand and tilt functionality also empower users to customise positioning and work within their most comfortable viewing parameters.

Ahead of the Game

Samsung’s CJ791 showcases content with brilliant and realistic detail, guaranteed to entice gamers and entertainment enthusiasts. The display’s QLED presentation technology precisely reflects colours across a 125 percent sRGB spectrum, and creates visual intrigue through deeper blacks, brighter whites and pristine shades. This refinement, coupled with the industry’s sharpest 1,500R curvature and ultra-wide 178-degree viewing angle, gives users a complete view of their surroundings, and ensures full immersion in every scene.

A host of integrated gamer-friendly features also gives users an extra edge on their adversaries with Game Mode, which contains a dynamic gamma setting that intuitively adjusts colour and contrast of each individual scene to produce a true-to-life environment. The CJ791’s four milliseconds (ms) response time also ensures smooth transitions between scenes, making it ideal for racing, flight simulation and first-person battle games.

Truthfully, it’s your eyes reading and reacting to what’s on the screen in front of you, whether you’re working or streaming a movie. All those hours of screen time can add up to tired, bleary eyes if you’re not careful and eyestrain can seriously cut into both your fun and your productivity. A few relatively simple tips can counter that and help keep you focused.

A modern monitor can provide an excellent viewing experience in almost any lighting, from near-darkness to full daylight. Matching your screen’s brightness levels to the ambient light in your room is one key to preventing eyestrain. It’s also easy to test. Just hold a piece of bright white paper alongside your screen. If your screen is brighter than the paper, turn down its brightness. If your screen is darker, turn it up.

Glare reflecting from your computer screen can also cause eyestrain. The anti-glare coatings on modern monitors help, but won’t eliminate it entirely. Try turning your monitor slightly left or right, to avoid troublesome light sources, or adjust your viewing angle. Switching off a problematic overhead light and relying on your desk lamps for illumination instead, can be helpful too.
Maintaining the right distance from your screen is important, too. A distance of 20 to 24 inches, or up to 30 for a large monitor, is usually appropriate. If the screen is too close, its brightness can irritate your eyes, while if it’s too far away you might find yourself squinting to read it properly. Ideally your eyes should be level with the top of the screen, so you don’t have to look up or down to read. If necessary, raise the monitor slightly by resting it on a book.

5. Lose Your Blues

If you regularly switch between computers at work, or between a home and a work computer, you might find that some displays seem to strain your eyes more than others. There are a lot of possible reasons for this, but one is the “temperature” of the display. The blue tints that make your screen look cooler, in colour terms, tend to be harder on your eyes. You can reduce the percentage of blue light through your monitor’s manual or automatic colour settings. It’s easier and smarter, than buying your pharmacy out of eye drops.

6. Upgrade Your Hardware

The screen that came with your computer, or was built into your laptop, is probably perfectly acceptable. Still, that display is where your eyes spend their time. Give them a break by upgrading to something larger and higher-resolution, such as a UHD monitor. The added resolution provides sharper text and crisper images, while the increased screen size keeps your menus, text and icons large and readable. Why squint, when you don’t have to?

7. Stick to What the Doctor Ordered

If you wear prescription glasses or contact lenses, make a point of keeping your prescription up to date. Even if you have a state-of-the-art monitor and do everything else right, an outdated pair of prescription specs can leave your eyes tired and burning by the end of the day. If you find yourself with frequent eye fatigue and you’ve ruled out other causes, it might be time for a trip back to the optometrist.
