Finding healthy and quick recipes to nourish the family is always a challenge, but with Samsung’s range of digital appliances, life is made just that bit easier. To start with, the Samsung Microwave Oven does not just reheat food, it boils, bakes, thaws, skewers and makes every day cooking interesting and enjoyable.

“The Samsung MW7000K 32L Convection Microwave Oven (MWO) with HotBlast technology reduces cooking times by 50%, by blowing powerful hot air through multiple air holes directly onto food so it’s evenly cooked, staying juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. You can enjoy healthier fried food without a deep fryer. Slim Fry technology combines a grill with warm air circulation, so food is cooked crisply inside and out using only a touch of oil. And no greasy pans or splatters,” says Mike van Lier, Samsung Director Consumer Electronics.

Most importantly, the microwave oven ensures that your family gets all the nutrition from the food cooked in it. In conventional cooking, much of the nutrition present in the food in the form of Vitamins C and F is lost due to exposure to the atmosphere.

But when you cook in the Samsung Microwave Oven, the food retains all its nutrients. A vacuum tube called a “magnetron” generates microwaves that penetrate the food and agitate the moisture molecules present in the food. This agitation releases heat that spreads to other parts of the food, cooking it evenly, without any loss of nutritional elements. Consequently, you get healthy, oil-free food at almost one-third of the time taken by conventional cooking systems.

The microwave cooks food through microwave rays. Microwave energy penetrates food, heating water, fat and sugar molecules in food, causing the molecules in the food to move rapidly, creating frictional heat. This cooks the food efficiently. The MWO also defrosts and reheats more quickly than the gas stove, saving both energy and time.

Cookware for microwave cooking must allow microwave energy to pass through it for maximum efficiency. For your safety, do not use metal (such as stainless steel, aluminium and copper), wood and paper cookware – microwaves are reflected by metal, and this will cause sparks. Paper and wooden cookware can be burnt after being exposed to microwave rays.

However, these rays permeate ceramic, glass and porcelain (without any metal decoration). Keep in mind that heat-resistant cookware must be used for long-time cooking (over 3 minutes) to prevent the cookware from damage, resulting in melting and getting burnt.

A variation of food is suitable for microwave cooking, including fresh or frozen vegetables, fruit, pasta, rice, grains, beans, fish and meat. Sauces, custard, soups, steamed puddings, preserves and chutneys can be cooked in a Samsung microwave.

“Samsung employs its innovations and technology to create what people want and need, making life easier for our customers,” says Mike van Lier, Samsung Director Consumer Electronics.

When the first microwave ovens appeared in restaurant kitchens in 1947, they measured in at 5.5 feet [1,6764 m] tall and more than 750 pounds [340,194 kgs]. These water-cooled appliances included less cooking capacity than a modern unit that measures and weighs one-tenth than its early equivalent. Today’s microwaves offer far greater functional flexibility and cooking prowess, with electronic controls that provide programmed operation. To find the right microwave oven for your family, examine your cooking habits, kitchen setup and performance expectations.

What You Cook

Microwave ovens come in three basic size categories: compact, medium and large. Whatever you choose depends t on the size of the foods and utensils you plan to put in it. If you only use a microwave to reheat leftovers and prepare popcorn, you don’t need as large a capacity as you do if you plan to rely on it for significant meal-preparation duties. Measuring the diameter and height of your microwave cooking dishes helps you evaluate oven cavities and decide which size matches your expectations. Look for a model that puts out around 1,000 watts for prompt, thorough cooking results.

Available Space

Where you plan to locate and use your microwave oven helps you narrow down your options to the right size for your family. Freestanding appliances that set on a countertop or cart can be any size, provided they fit below overhanging cabinets or shelving and don’t usurp work space you need for food preparation. Built-in microwaves must fit into the same width and height as your cabinetry and call on additional skills to put them into service. Whereas countertop placement requires nothing more than unboxing the product and lifting it in place, implementing built-in appliances requires that you deal with wiring and installation.

Dual Functions

The over-the-range microwave oven combines the functions and features of two appliances into one product. Along with its cooking capabilities, this oven doubles as a vent hood for your range or cooktop, providing a built-in exhaust fan. Depending on your kitchen setup and your cooking style, you can set up these ovens to vent outside, typically through the top or back of the casework or to filter and recirculate air through the kitchen. Additionally, these microwaves provide a lighting system that gives you a better view of work in progress on the cooking surface below. For energy efficiency, look for LED bulbs instead of incandescents, halogens or fluorescents.

Other Features

Some advanced-function microwave ovens include additional cooking modes, especially convection, broiling and toasting, so you can use one appliance for more types of food preparation than those that lend themselves solely to microwavetechnology. To simplify oven-cavity cleaning, some models incorporate a steam-cleaning feature that enables you to use a vessel of water as the cleanup source. Simplicity extends to control-surface options as well. When you compare microwaves, examine their control pads with two criteria in mind: input modes and ease of use. Special single-button cooking options—for example, reheating or thawing specific foods—can offer you convenience if they automate tasks you regularly perform.

A microwave oven can make a vital contribution to any cook’s food preparation options, far beyond the TV dinners and popcorn at the heart of its role as a convenient way to make fast food at home. You can integrate a microwave into kitchen designs from high style to comfy casual. How and where you install your microwave depends on the type of appliance you buy and the layout of your space.

Over the Range

When you select an over-the-range microwave oven, your appliance typically includes downward-facing lighting that illuminates the range top and ventilation features that enable it to double as a range hood. Some over-the-range models can vent through the top or back of the unit, or simply filter and recirculate air without exhausting it outside. To use a vented model, you need a through-the-wall connection to the outdoors. Placing these microwaves in service requires some installation savvy to handle construction and installation tasks.

Built In

A built-in microwave installation makes the appliance look like an integrated part of stock or custom wall cabinets. To accomplish this sleek, high-end look, you’ll need to accommodate the oven’s need for air exhaust. Setting up this kind of placement option can require some advanced construction techniques and carpentry skills. You may need to consult — or hire — a contractor if the task exceeds your capabilities.

Countertop

If you have countertop space to spare in an area that can accommodate a microwave oven near an electric outlet as well as close to the rhythm of food preparation, you can position the appliance on an island, peninsula or wall-mounted counter. Stay an extra power-cord length out of the way of your work space to avoid electrical hazards. Before you choose the spot to place your oven, check the location of its exhaust vents so you can avoid placing them near a wall or other obstacle that impedes proper airflow.

Cart

A storage cart that doubles as an appliance platform can enable you to keep microwave cookware near your oven and preserve precious counter space for food preparation. If you select a cart with casters, choose one that includes locks to hold the cart in place. Many of these pieces of furniture fall under the heading of “assembly required,” so make sure you’re up to the task of putting it together if you select a cart that doesn’t ship ready to use.
