Samsung Electronics has announced that nearly 80 models in its 2025 TV, soundbar and monitor line-ups have received Product Carbon Reduction [1] and Product Carbon Footprint[2] certifications from TÜV Rheinland – a globally recognised certification organisation based in Germany.

This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Samsung Neo QLED 8K and Samsung Neo QLED 4K TV line-ups have earned the certifications, demonstrating the company’s continued efforts toward carbon reduction.

“Samsung Electronics is committed to driving technological innovation for a sustainable future,” said Taeyong Son, Executive Vice President of Visual Display Business at Samsung Electronics. “As one of the world’s top TV manufacturer, we will continue to be at the forefront of establishing a more energy-efficient ecosystem that benefits consumers.”

Following last year’s certification of 60 models across the Neo QLED, OLED and Lifestyle TV categories, Samsung has grown its number of certified products in 2025 to include QLED TVs. In addition, the company is also working towards obtaining certification for its Colour E-Paper commercial displays later this year.

The certifications from TÜV Rheinland are awarded following a rigorous evaluation of a product’s entire lifecycle, including manufacturing, transportation, usage and disposal — based on internationally recognised sustainability standards. By assessing and verifying carbon emissions at each stage, these certifications highlight Samsung’s efforts to reduce environmental impact across its product lineup.

In particular, the Product Carbon Reduction certification is granted to products that have already received a Product Carbon Footprint certification and further demonstrate a measurable reduction in carbon emissions compared to their predecessors

Samsung’s trailblazing position in energy-efficient display technology dates back to 2021, when Samsung Neo QLED 4K became the first 4K and higher-resolution TV to earn the Reducing CO2 certification. Since then, Samsung has continually expanded its portfolio of environmentally certified products, including QLED, Crystal UHD, Lifestyle TVs, OLED TVs and a wide range of monitors and digital signage products.

Certification measures and confirms carbon emissions generated throughout the entire lifecycle of 10 models in total, across the refrigerator, the washing machine, and the air conditioner product groups.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that 10 models among 3 product groups from DA Business have obtained ‘Product Carbon Footprint’ certification from the Carbon Trust. The certificate proves that the Carbon Trust measured and confirmed the carbon emissions of the products based on the global standard, PAS 2050:2011.

“Receiving the Product Carbon Footprint certification for our home appliances is a significant milestone,” said Jeong Seung Moon, EVP and Head of R&D Team of Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.

The Carbon Trust is a global climate consultancy that aims to accelerate the move to a decarbonized future. The organization, which was founded in the UK and operates globally, certifies products’ carbon footprints in accordance with international standards.

Samsung products were certified based on the cradle-to-grave footprint, which take into account the entire greenhouse gas emissions of a product, from the extraction of raw materials to manufacturing, distribution, use and final disposal.

The certification is issued to a total of 10 models, which include three BMF refrigerator models[1] and one WindFree residential air conditioner model[2] sold in Europe, and six Bespoke Grande washing machine models[3] sold in Korea.

Moving forward, Samsung Electronics plans to use the measured figures to manage and evaluate the carbon emissions from producing successor models in the stated product groups.
